Chicago’s Best Rosca de Reyes For Three Kings Day | Eater Chicago

"Forest Park Bakery may not be a traditional Mexican bakery, but step inside, and you’ll find something unexpected: Rosca de Reyes, a nod to the community it proudly serves. While this establishment has offered roscas in the past, due to its growing popularity the team has made it more visible this year. Forest Bakery’s version has no filings but features three figurines hidden inside. Call ahead or stop by the bakery to place your order." - Brenda Storch

What a cute little bakery! As fun on the outside as on the inside! I took my youngest kid for a breakfast birthday donut, and didn't buy a single donut. For her we got a mini Oreo cake, about 3" in diameter, a macaroon, a brown, a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, and an amazing creamy French pastry that I can't remember the name of. All were so delicious and looked as good as they tasted, which is how we ended up with no donuts, although they looked fantastic too. The service was great as well. They were very patient with us while we stood there taking it all in. So go, NOW, and get a great dessert at the Forest Park Bakery!

Google
cookies here are awesome! they have a lemon cake that is a must! this is a hidden gem in Forest Park, tasty food, kind service and a nice place to walk in. they are making donuts also, so feel free to visit and be surprised by the new creations. ☺️

Google
Beautiful, not so little, bakery in the heart of Forest Park. We came in looking for a few freshly baked goodies, and walked out with about 5 bags! The selection is both unique and classic. From cookies to cupcakes and muffins to donuts. We even tried a bagel dog and it was delicious! Iced coffee was great too. We'll definitely be back. Service was excellent and can't wait to indulge in all of these amazing treats.

Love this bakery! It's dangerous how cheap and delicious the food is. I've never come across a place where the treats are so affordable and yet maintain the quality of far more expensive items. It's a regular visit for me, I'm particularly fond of the muffins

I’m really disappointed with my experience at this bakery. I ordered a cake for my anniversary, providing a reference picture and clearly outlining the design and details (including banana filling and no jelly on the strawberries) on the order form. Unfortunately, the cake looked nothing like what I requested, and the filling was completely wrong—there were no bananas and there was jelly on the strawberries that I requested not to have. Not only did they fail to follow the instructions, but I also felt the price was way too high for the result. The only positive was that the cake was moist, but that doesn't make up for the frustration. I won’t be returning to this bakery in the future and do not recommend for custom orders.

6/23/25 - Back again. I had a bite of the three cookies and carrot cake, and they were better than the hard chocolate cake, but I doubt if I return. The kids didn't want them. I'll stick to buying bakery at Jewels and Panera Bread in River Forest. 6/21/25 - First time customer. I just left the bakery after spending close to $14.00 on a chocolate cake (square), a carrot cake (slice), and three assorted cookies. Just tasted the chocolate cake and it was hard and not fresh. Why businesses insist on selling goods they know that are not top notch beats me. For every item purchased, I will write a review once they are sampled.

The service clerks were very nice and friendly. The place looked clean and was pleasantly decorated. The aroma of baked treats lightly filled the place, encouraging wonderful anticipation of tasty first bites. It was 9am and the sparsely filled case had some slightly oversized and beautiful pastries and some donuts. There were a few pastries resting in trays behind the clerks. From the display case I purchased an apple turnover, and a peanut butter cookie; and from the trays behind the clerks, I purchased an apple danish, for a grand total of $8.69. I couldn't wait to dive into my bag of tasty treats. The cookie, approximately 8cm round at .5cm thick lacked substance and that rich taste that accompanies a great peanut cookie @ $3.95. The beautiful and slightly over sized apple turnover pastry lacked the expected amount of apple filling. The apple pieces of the filling was poorly represented, but the shell was best in show @4.35. And lastly, I now understand placement is everything; if the pastries aren't in a sparsely filled display case, it's probably because they're headed for mark downs or the trash. The tastes of the apple filled danish was gagging and trash worthy @ $3.95. Very disappointing. Maybe I was late for all the good stuff....I mean historically late. Maybe this bakery was outstanding or at least good some years ago. The public is always supportive for a season based on past performances alone. The 2 stars were for appearances and kind customer service.

Google
The brownies are still great (same as when this place was Kay's). The cookie was just OK, and I think this was supposed to be a chocolate croissant, but it wasn't flaky and barely had any chocolate.

Yelp
Cute store, I had to stop by a work event at Rush Oak Park nearby and went searching for a coffee shop. I didn't even know this quaint old Main-street like complex was here. Somehow this place didn't show up on Google as a coffee shop, though it certainly is one--I made a diversion to check it out based on sight. The staff person was very pleasant and efficient, I picked a pretzel-shaped pastry out that was a nice snack to pick at all day. Iced latte on a warmer day hit the spot as well, just the right amount of ice and milk.

Yelp
Forest Park Bakery is a longtime family-owned bakery that sales custom-decorated cakes, pastries and many other baked goods. I like that this bakery has an old fashioned vibe to it like back in the day. When I walked inside I was greeted with a nice friendly hello and smile. I ordered the oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies & a chocolate and coconut donut. Unfortunately, my cookies were very hard and had a stale taste to them. The donuts could of been a little moist. I'm not sure if the items are freshly baked daily. I arrived around 8:30 AM so I was hoping that my cookies and donuts would be soft and moist. I will give this place another visit and update my review. Stay Tune!!!!

Yelp
Forest Park Bakery continues to outdo themselves! Their hard work continues to shine. If you haven't checked them out, be sure to stop by! A true gem in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Beautiful pastries -- just lovely-- and amazing service. The only problem is selecting only as much as you can carry. Every star!!

Yelp
Welcomed the second I walked in with a smile and a "happy Monday!" ! A great start. I got a dozen assorted muffins for a brunch at a friend's. Every flavor of muffin got great reviews.

Yelp
Latte just ok; steamed milk, no micro foam. Apple fritter lacking apples. Very basic, but baked goods look good.

Yelp
I adore Forest Park bakery. It's a cute local bakery with TONS of options - from pastries, donuts, and bageldogs?! I stop by every once in awhile and am always greeted with friendly, helpful service. I have only done takeout orders, but they do have some seating inside. The pricing is VERY reasonable. I bought an eclair, guava and cheese pastry, twisted donut, and raspberry turnover for less than $10. I appreciate that the baked goods are never too sweet. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went in today to get some paczki. Got bavarian and straberry with whipped cream. Would have liked more whipped cream but the paczki were amazing! The dough was light with so much flavor and great texture. Just as good as Weber to me. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Ordered large cookies with soccer ball imagine for my son's birthday and they turned out great- looked and tasted wonderful!

Yelp
The best bakery around. Amazing turnovers, pastries with tons of different fruits (including guava, cherry, cheese), muffins, donuts. Taste is great, ~$2 a pastry, cute to sit down but I usually take away.

Yelp
I have always been the one waiting in the car when we went here in the past and I was a bit shocked at how small it is inside! It seems so huge from the outside. I came in for some cookies and also got a palmiere and cherry turnover while there. The turnover was good, but I have had better. The cookies were excellent and enjoyed within 2 days by the household and friends at school!

Yelp
Hit or miss an inconsistent with their pastries. They're often times very dry and crumbly, but they taste good. Cakes are decent. Chocolate frosting is absolutely excellent. You'll be licking the box like a dirty animal. I would skip the coffee from this place and get it from somewhere that knows how to make it.

Yelp
I was so pleased with the service I received and the quality of the cookies I ordered. I placed an order for a memorial service and Stephanie was extremely helpful in helping me determine the quantities and types of cookies we wanted. She ensured the cookies were delivered exactly when and where I requested. She made a difficult time much easier and I will be forever grateful. I highly recommend Forest Park Bakery.

Yelp
One of the best bakery's I have been too! Their variety styles of croissants with their variety of flavors is a hit with my family. We will definitely become a regular there.

Yelp
For the most part this place has a lot to offer. Hard to choose with all the selections. The cupcakes and doughnuts are super delicious. The exterior is cute with an old fashioned vibe. Helpful person at the counter. Try the chocolate or maple doughnuts. Yum.

Yelp
I ordered a 12 inch chocolate cake with coconut frosting for my husband's 70th birthday party. The cake was very delicious, especially moist, and reasonably priced when you compare the pricing to local upscale chain grocery stores. Several guests said that it was the best cake they've had in recent memory. We ordered cakes for years when it was Kay's and will continue to support this business.

Yelp
I just went into Forest Park Bakery after not having been in the area for many years. I picked up a cake chocolate donut that had a fluffy donut and good chocolate topping, but more cake than chocolate. I also purchased a cannoli, which tastes totally like whipped cream as the does texture and color. So, I believe there was either no ricotta or so little it appears and tastes like whip cream.
