"Downtown Salem’s first food hall, Fork Forty houses a cluster of independently owned businesses — similar to Pine Street Market — and there’s not a dud in the bunch. Chubby Bao House focuses on eclectic bao, fried rice bowls, and double-fried chicken wings crackling with five spice. La Lucciola pulls some of Salem’s best Neapolitan pizza from a flickering brick oven. Syrian Kitchen offers housemade baklava shawarma and falafel. Suzy’s Taqueria #2 is also a newer addition to the hall, offering classic Mexican fare with playful twists like birria ramen and quesitacos. Visit Slick Licks for scratch-made ice cream, including multiple vegan options. Limited outdoor seating, plus tables in the onsite bar, the Best Goose, allow for on premises dining." - Emily Teel

A nice food hall in downtown Salem near the courthouse. There are multiple vendors and a bar to order drinks. The indoor area has several seating areas of tables and counters. There are also a few tables outside on the sidewalk.

Great atmosphere. This shared space allows for multiple choices and the prices are reasonable. Think 10-15 dollars a plate. I have the Barbacoa Tacos, and I will 💯 be back. They were awesome! Fried cheese on the outside of the taco, nice and crispy with fresh Pico. Worth a stop, you won't be disappointed.

Google
Pretty cool spot with some good food options (so far we’ve only tried chubby bao and Suzy’s taqueria—both were great!) There’s even a little taproom in the back! They have self-serve water station, which is something I always look for in food halls! It can get pretty warm inside as it’s a bit of a small space and can feel cramped when it’s crowded, but they have outdoor seating as well!

Very cool food hall, and everyone was friendly and upbeat....definitely not like California. The chef at Chubby Bao was chipper and just so welcoming. Clean dining area and facilities with an interesting mix of food options... something for everyone for sure. Fork Forty was highly recommended by a rad shop owner/worker at Capitol Men's wear.

Google
We had two pizzas at La Lucciola and they were superb! Cool vibe, wish we had more time to hang out, but we were just passing through.

Google
Amazing food, you have to try it. It took us a bit of work to find this place, but the food is amazing, everything looks very nice and clean The Rex hamburgers are amazing specially the french fries, the falafel and the lamb for the Syrian place is delicious.

Kevin Dial

Google
What a great little hideaway! Don't let sidewalk view fool you, this place is pretty amazing. I had tofu Bao and ice cream, but the options were many. Middle Eastern, Pizza, Burgers and more, plus a full service bat in the back. I was told the downstairs has a wrecking room and escape room, so I know I'll be back to try those someday. Looking forward to exploring the other food vendors and activities.

Google
Tried two different pork Bao's. Pork belly, mid. And the bbq pork was much more flavorful. Best fries in a ten block radius, there like a thin Jojo.

Yelp
Fork forty is a communal eatery, like a pod of food carts but in a building. I went to the burger place there. Dinosaur themed. Great burger. A bit pricey, but you should expect that from a "hip" venue like this. The service was alright. Seemed like no one was working the burger place, but they were just in back. No bell to ring, or sign saying they'd be back in 5. Almost seemed like they weren't open. And the gal that was working kinda had that vibe they didn't want to be there or just bothered. But I understand that feeling because in another life I worked food service. They proceeded to make a damn good burger.

Yelp
First visit to Salem and upon arriving I needed a quick bite so decided to head to Fork Forty. It has a good variety of options for a food courtyard, but depending on the time some places may be closed. I ended up trying the tater tots from Rex Burger and the baba ganoush from Syrian Kitchen. My friend had the hummus and falafel from Syrian Kitchen, so I tried the falafel. Tater tots: they were fried to perfection and paired well with ranch. The portion is generous for the price too. Baba Ganoush: I wish it was a bit more eggplanty.. it wasn't bad but i wish there was a bit more flavor. Falafel: my friend insisted it's terrible.. but I didn't think it was bad. It was a bit heavy on the cornmeal.. so not like the falafel I'm used it. All in all it's a fun food court that allows you to try a few places in one shot.

Yelp
Pizza is amazing ...bartenders haven't been the friendliest the times I been in , the females seem annoyed when asking about beer selection. I'm thinking cuz they don't know lol so if bar was a separate start, they'd get one. I give 5 cuz pizza peeps go over and beyond to make sure ur happy!!

Yelp
Have now obtained food (and a cocktail) from all 6 restaurants inside this fun and funky food hall. La Lucciola has excellent pizza and they always seem actually happy to have customers walk up to their counter and place an order (this is ALMOST the same with almost all of the establishments in here...). Rex has delicious grilled chicken sandwiches on delicious buns, and very tasty varieties of french fries. Good food, fast service. Chubby Bao: something with chorizo beef and mouth-wateringly spicy-good rice, always a reliable hit. Bao sandwiches are also spot-on. The Best Goose Bar: good cocktails, and you can bring your food in there. They have a board game night when drinks are discounted (I think). Bar service is hit or miss. Sometimes friendly, sometimes very annoyed to have to wait on someone. Meh. Slick Licks: many flavors, good quality ice cream. Get some to go and enjoy at home for later. Syrian Kitchen: good domas, good shishkebob, everything good really. Takes a long while to cook it though, but it was very fresh and tasty. One last thing: they have three wooden picnic tables on the street for outdoor dining, and are always filled with people enjoying the food from inside, but a word of caution...if you are eating outside on a Friday evening, unfortunately, you are not far enough away from the intersection of State Street and Liberty Streets to avoid hearing that awful street musician with the out-of-tune electric guitar, amp, and total lack of singing ability who parks herself at that corner every Friday afternoon/evening from around 3 or 4 pm until 9 or 10 pm. If you're just dining outside quickly, you won't notice that she only knows four chords and plays the same four "songs" over and over again, but any longer stay and it will be hard to eat your food through your clenched teeth and splitting earaches. Sad situation but that's Friday nights in this neighborhood.

Yelp
We were the only people there, but instead of serving us, the attendant made us wait 10 minutes while he mopped the floor. We left and walked to the frozen yogurt place where that attendant dropped what she was doing to serve us, then went back to her task.

Marci L.

Yelp
We had the Syrian food. It was tasty. I will go again. The staff was awesome and helpful.

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Got the baklava, but it was made with almonds colored green instead of pistachio. Honestly so disappointed I love pistachio so much. Still ate most of it because the rose water and pastry dough was good though. Don't get this :( pizza was delicious from the pizza place though!!

Ashley B.

Yelp
There are plenty of great options and terrific people. Bar is cozy and comfortable with good options.

Brad C.

Yelp
Such a great option after a long day of kids hoops in Salem! We had a blast, plenty of seating and food absolutely surprised us all! Thank for an amazing night to celebrate with kiddos!

Chief K.

Yelp
Think indoor food truck place WITH a full bar! The martini was superb! The shawerma salad was simple but tasty. Falafels we're a little bland and had a weird texture. I would come here again.

Arlisha G.

Yelp
Been wanting to visit this place in a while and we finally made our presence there. Its a mini food court. Love the fact that there's different options to choose from. Wanted to try them all, but we sticked to two options; Chubby Bao & Mr Coqui (Asian & Puerto Rican). Even though I have Asian in me, I've got to give this one to the Puerto Rican cuisine. All in all, I'm glad I tried both. Still need to make my way back to try the others. I will be seeing you again Fork Forty! Dislikes: Seating (bar stools) are uncomfortable.

Chan C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and each time we get something from multiple venders. The food has been hit or miss. It's a fun place and if you have picky eater there are multiple choices. I'm still not that impressed with the food from the three of the venders.

Yelp
listen im from california just moved to oregon & the syrian kitchen is the bombest place ever. the closest best kabobs youll get compared to la kabobs. love the kabobs & hummus. bomb salads and mire. if you love greek. / medditerran food syrian kitchen is the go! especially if your in salem its difficult to find resturants with very good medditeran food. the place is awesome theres other indoor resturants like pizza , ramen , burgers , & a bar down the hall. its perfect place to go on a date & it has alot of stores around it you can also try. very friendly communitys. theres music and people all around. beautiful. best hummus too. love their pizza there but syrian kitchen is the best i am addicted ! caprese saladsyrian shawarma platebaklava

Yelp
I ate at the Rex!! Very good Jr. Rex burger and the sweet potato fries were the BEST! I'll be back to just order those fries. Our food was brought to our table!! Nice and quiet where we sat and ate. Go there when you are in downtown Salem.

martha l.

Yelp
Great concept and a great bar. and bartender. We sampled 4 beers and found two new ones we really liked. We ordered our meals from the Syrian place. The service was very slow although we were the only ones eating a meal from that booth. I had the Aleppo salad. Romaine lettuce with a watery yogurt and lemon dressing. The arabi "sandwich" was wrapped in a giant tortilla. Easily enough for two people and quite tasty. Ed My friend had the hummus and Shawarma plate. It was decent but very small. The pistachio and almond baklava was good. Overall, I'd say the bar was the highlight. I won't return for the Syrian food.

Jorge H.

Yelp
It was our first time trying Fork Forty. Recommended. A nice environment to kick back and eat with friends. We had pizza from La Lucciolo. Good food and good service. Giving the experience a four star because I reserve five star for dine in really great service. Recommend. We already know what we are having when we go back!

Keri P.

Yelp
Awesome selection of food. Good food. I had A pizza and some of the Boa sandwiches and one of the IPAs I think. It's all good stuff you won't be disappointed.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
So, I actually really enjoy the food here -- especially Chubby Bao. The food hall (a newish concept popping up in a lot of major cities) was definitely needed in Salem, where trendiness has been lacking for decades. Fork Forty, alongside other emerging businesses, definitely evidences the up and up that the city is on. I am giving it three stars for now for its unpredictable hours. I have shown up on at least three occasions during business hours to find some or all of the restaurants closed, which were frustrating experiences. When, or if, Fork Forty continuously maintains its business hours, I would be more than happy to update my review.

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Lots of variety! Only had the pizza so far and the pizza and service were both great! We will be back!

Paige S.

Yelp
So many options! This is a very important new option in Salem. Ambiance is a bit lacking as it's not really conversation-friendly (very loud). Great to-go though! I love the syrian kitchen and slick licks! Worth a visit!

Lindsay J.

Yelp
Fun mini food hall. Different options for food and dessert. Would recommend Slick Licks. Froyo, and like half the flavors were even made with oat milk!

Holly P.

Yelp
Such a trendy, fun place. Good love that this is in downtown Salem. It was our first time there and we'll go back soon.

Scott C.

Yelp
Food is good... Not a ton of choices, but enough to appease most people. Service is very quick and efficient but, the choice of music, leaves something to be desired. I don't mind crappy music sometimes, but when you can't talk over it, the crappy music becomes horrible.

Emmanuel D.

Yelp
Stopped by to get some sweet's! Found little b's bakery inside! Loved the 3 desserts I tried (strawberry cheesecake, s'mores cookies, strawberry cupcake) would recommend for anyone looking for something sweet in the area! Very friendly too!

Kyle T.

Yelp
Will leave a better review later because I actually like this place. But I just took my family to Trex to get food, we hyped my daughters dinosaur nuggets up, waited about a half an hour before asking if she had forgotten. She had and no nuggies for da boogie. And no burger for the ole ole lady -SadKid SadDad

Nicole L.

Yelp
The concepts, great lots of different options. We had the Middle Eastern food. It was only par may be a little subpar.

Joseph K.

Yelp
New-age food hall with many different and fun food options. The quick service makes it perfect for a work lunch, while not skimping on quality. There is also a dim lit bar area for libations

Ausa H.

Yelp
I love this place more every time we visit. My family and I have been three times now. It's a great place. Everyone can choose what they want to eat and all the food places are very good. My 7 year old gets to have ice cream. My mom and I shared a cider from the bar. It's such a fun place.

Sarah D.

Yelp
I had Uncle Troy's pork belly lunch + 2 sides and it was mouth watering. The hush puppies were perfect and the collared greens were so good. I'll be back!

Nicole L.

Yelp
TL;DR - Love love love!!! Get the pizza!!!! I was SO excited to see a food hall in Salem! I've been twice and I'm already recommending it to everyone. The first time we went I got La Lucciola and my companion got Chubby Panda, plus we both got Slick Licks. My gosh, this is my new favorite pizza place. The crust, the sauce, it's all amazing. Drooling thinking about it now. He really liked Chubby Panda! The rice bowl was yummy. And of course Slick Licks was amazing. We love the rotating menu and everything we've tried has been fantastic. We can't wait to continue to try all the restaurants tucked in here. Love it!!

Leah M.

Yelp
Love the variety of choices....today it's gluten free Mayor Marionberry at Portland Press and marionberry cocktail. Sitting outside, enjoying the sun!

Linda O.

Yelp
The concept of a variety of cuisines in one location is wonderful and calmer than a shopping mall food court. Kind of dark and cave-like but worth trying each food station in the near future. Yay

Annmare G.

Yelp
Slick licks Ice cream was wonderful! Good portion and options, it's so weird having soft serve in other flavors beside vanilla or chocolate! chubby panda is delicious and their bao is really big and filled, one pretty much fills me enough and leave room for ice cream. My kid got the pizza and it took a little bit to get because they were popular and I see why, good flavor and I like that fired crust. I stole some of his pizza and I am suprised I didn't take it all.

Kathy E.

Yelp
I got a butternut soup from pizza place and hubby got baos. Sat in best goose Ann's also had excellent cranberry cider and local beer thanks to excellent recs from the bartender. Only downside- pizza place doesn't sell their dough to go! They gave some cbaked dough slices with soup and was excellent.

Jillian S.

Yelp
I can already tell I will be spending many of my lunch breaks at fork forty. Everything is so good! You can cover all your bases, yummy food, a drink, and even ice cream. The environment is just upbeat and all the food I've tried so far is delicious! A great addition to downtown.

Camy P.

Yelp
My mom, sister, and I tried all of the 5 food choices here this evening (don't judge us lol). The atmosphere is very casual and very modern while still being aesthetically pleasing and unique. I would highly recommend for any Instagrammers looking for a good food pic (sorry I didn't take any or I would add below). I started our food tasting adventure with a charcoal detox smoothy from Smooth where the smoothy was alright and the cashier was not particularly friendly, this is the only reason that Fork Forty is getting a 4/5 from me. Next up was the Chubby Panda where we split three Baos with fries (one fried chicken, one BBQ honey pork, and one Carne Asada) and they were very, very good as was the service. My sister got a Margarita Pizza from La Lucciola which was a yummy traditional wood-fired pizza (I do wish they offered a gluten-free crust here to be more inclusive of alternative diets). The meatballs and chicken from Kings Kitchen were unique and yummy, however, they gave us way too much rice which feels like a waste. Portland Press has a really great concept and offers gluten-free waffle sandwiches. We split the May Marionberry sandwich and ate every bite if that tells you anything! Some vanilla soft serve from Slick Licks finished off our tasting and really hit the spot in terms of satisfying our sweet tooth. (the cashier here was also really nice and laughed at some of my cheesy jokes). The only thing we didn't get to try was the drinks, but I think we will definitely be back in the future!

Susan P.

Yelp
There were 4 or 5 choices for food. They are adding more. I had an enjoyable lunch with friends. I ate from the Chubby Panda booth. It was really good! I had a fried chicken Bao with fries. It was a filling meal and left my tummy happy. The bar portion had several beer/wine selections and a very helpful bartender. I had a 1859 Cranberry cider. He explained to me and my friend how it is very tart. He offered a taste. I am so glad that he did! My friend got the straight cranberry cider and I opted for a splash of apple cider in mine, to curb the tartness. Genious! I think we will be back!!

Luis B.

Yelp
The Portland Press waffle sandwich was very delicious. The staff was friendly and definitely recommend if you have a sweet tooth.

Samantha C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Delicious pizza. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great for families where everyone likes something different.

Yelp
This review will highlight 3 items in the "Fork Forty" food hall in downtown Salem. I have been in Salem for approximately 6 months. I am 4th generation Italian born and raised in Chicago. I grew up with favorites like homemade everything, and the local Italian store for pantry staples was a normal thing for me. For foodies that live in the middle of nowhere in hopes of a culinary treat, you will know exactly what I'm about to say. My husband and I have been scouring the landscape for 6 months here. He is a native Oregonian. If you've never had authentic Italian, you would never know what you're missing. Fork 40's first item [and the primary reason we went in tonight] was for La Lucciola. Hubby read the owner was from Wisconsin. And I thought to myself "a real cheesehead? ..no really.. a REAL cheesehead?'. I am a proud FIB. Our neighboring state rivalries are legend. They have the best cheese and beer, but we have the best Italian/pizza in the Midwest. We have the Bears, they have the Packers.. I could go on and on. So we went in, placed our order, got 1 caprese salad [there is real truth in fresh herbs versus the jarred crap and I wanted to taste more than just the pizza], and 1 meat lovers, and 1 four cheese. We watched him take fresh dough out of his containers and make it in a real brick pizza oven. And while it looked fancy, I was not impressed. Until I started noticing how he was making the pizza, the fact he used fresh mozzarella instead of shredded, and he was looking at the bottom of the crust like a mechanic checks under the hood. A spark of excitement went through me! I got up and said to him "so.. I hear you're a cheesehead". He said..yes, yes I am. I then replied I'm a FIB, he laughed and said "I have no idea what that is" with a grin.. we know what it is, we don't talk about it. I then said.. do you know how hard it is to find REAL pizza here.. He laughed again and said "I hope you like it". We gathered our goodies and headed home. We got home, we sat down.. we opened our boxes and we took a bite. Is it the BEST pizza nationwide? No. Is it the BEST PIZZA IN SALEM.. HELL to the yes it is. I DARE you to find something better, because you won't. Fresh ingredients, fresh basil, fresh mozz, salty cured meats that flashed me back to walking into the mom and pop Italian store where I grew up as a little girl. WELL DONE LA LUCCIOLA!!!! The second and third review was for the steak bao sandwich at the chubby panda? We ordered the crab ragoons [only 3 to an order] but it came with this jalapeno infused sweet jam? I can't take heat, I'm a total whimp but this was not about heat folks, this was about flavor. Think of elevated sweet and sour sauce without burning your mouth. Man.. was it good. The sandwich? I'd never had one. At first glance, it's a meh.. it looks like some meat, on some weird white bread..with some condiments. Wrong again..its salty, its light, there is a crunch, there is a slight sweetness, and its just enough to keep you coming back for more. What a great environment. So much more fun than the local sit down restaurants of days gone by. This place is YUMMY. So get out and support those locals!!!

Phillip G.

Yelp
First time going. Enjoyed the Chubby Panda bao. They have outside seating with heaters and pop-up tents if you want a night out instead of delivery.

Hannah D.

Yelp
I love it here and all the options. Great location and love the ambiance. It's great food for any time of the day. However if you are going with someone it's great to get food to share from different parts of the world.

Julie S.

Yelp
Great service and drinks at The Best Goose. Super clean and comfortable building. Pretty awesome that this exists in Salem. Lots of food options to choose from.
