The Best Korean Restaurants In The San Gabriel Valley

"I am not going to say a single thing about the name of this place, but I will say this: the “Umma’s Lunchbox” deal kills. Choose from fried tofu, barbecue chicken, spicy pork, and bulgogi, and the generous leftovers of rice, japchae, and banchan will make a great midnight snack. Table barbecue here is pretty simple - mostly the hits like pork ribs and short ribs, plus some rosemary and garlic pork belly. What you really want to order is the super refreshing mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle, as it’s listed on the menu) and the bibim-naengmyeon (spicy cold noodle). They’re both hot-weather dishes that are sweet, spicy, and thirst-quenching. And if there’s no ice cube in your silver bowl, ask for some to make the broth extra frosty." - dakota kim

We have been ordering takeout from here since the Pandemic. Their Umma Lunch/Dinner Special always hits the spot for our family! Delicious, quick, good value, and good portions! Recommend!

Google
Heads up, I took photos after I started eating. The presentation was nicer than what is shown. The food was edible. There was honestly nothing outstanding about any of the dishes. The pickled cucumbers were good. The bean sprouts were good. The potatoes were meh. They were soft and had no discernable flavor. They had obviously been marinaded, but I couldn't tell by what. The main purpose of pickled sides is to refresh and tease the palate, to offset and enhance the main dish. But after eating a bite of each side a few times, they all started to taste the same. The spicy pork was good. It was the only thing I ate that I was actually impressed by. I mean it was very standard, but compared to everything else, it was impressive. The tteokbokki was sad. The rice noodles were too soft. The overall texture was consistently soggy throughout. The beauty of tteokbokki is the difference in flavors and textures between the ingredients and the sauce. But the flavor here was sad. The whole dish tasted and felt like diluted fish cake. Overall I wouldn't return. I was rather disappointed by the food. I think each dish has a lot of room for improvement.

Google
Food is fresh and delivered in a reasonable amount of time. A little on the pricier side for Korean comfort food but the spicy pork bulgogi is the best I've had compared to a lot of places, including restaurants in K-Town. Also, the boneless beef short ribs were a little too dry and sweet compared to the bone-in ribs.

Google
First time eating here and let me say this amazing. The service is spectacular, it's not busy, the enrviorment is so relaxing.the quality of the food is worth the price. I been going to this other Korean place since I was younger and this place I just tried with family actually topped them off. The food had the right amount of flavor. She refilled the side dishes and lord mercy I think ima have a Korean baby cause jesus... food is great. cute little place most definitely coming back soon when I get some cash. You should try coming to this place to eat worth a shot. You won't get exceptional service anywhere else let me tell ya*)

Best bimbimpap and ox bone soup I’ve ever had. Bulgogi was marinated perfectly. Food was served quickly and waiter is very friendly. Would come back

Google
More than just Pork! Very clean and nice dining environment. Service is friendly and good. Parking is good. Not as busy as some other Korean restaurants in the area; therefore, less waiting time. Food is very good with lots of ingredient. This past vist, one dish is a little on the salty side. Otherwise its excellent.

Google
Clean, well laid out restaurant with reasonably priced Korean fare. It serves a small subset of traditional Korean offerings, but the emphasis is definitely more towards the fusion-y dishes. I got the kimchi fried rice with pork belly. Although the pork belly had bone in it, overall the fried rice was hearty and very tasty to the last scoop

Sarah Sun

Google
Got the original pork for table top grill and the kimchi pancake. Only one rice per order so we had to order extra rice for $2 each (which wasn't worth). Service was pretty good and food is filling. Would come again next time!

Yelp
For me, the best Kimchi Fried Rice in SoCal. Love the pork belly. None of the cheap meat stuff.

Yelp
We were on the hunt for something cold and refreshing on a blazing hot day, and mool nengmyun totally saved us! The noodles were vinegary and satisfying, but the pork ribs and kimchi pancake absolutely stole the show--so good they should come with a warning label. Service was prompt and friendly, and the portions were hefty. Two of us shared everything family style, and we still had to bring the pancake home (no complaints--leftover happiness!).

Yelp
We got the ox bone soup and the cold noodles. Both were good. The soup and the noodles were both good. The cold noodles were good. I love cold noodles and this did it justice. There's a lot of noodles too, so I ended up eating half of it for supper haha. There's isn't any meat in the cold noodles, just the noodles, pickles, and 3 slices of egg. The cold noodle had four small dishes included.

Yelp
We stopped by here mid day, and it wasn't crowded. It's a simple Korean restaurant, no decorations with big overhead vents. Average cost of a dish, not including the meats for about $20. It was really tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Next time I'm in the area I would definitely come back and revisit and try other things

Yelp
The food is delicious and I'm not sure if she's the owner but the lady there is so nice! It's a hidden gem. I'm surprised haven't discovered how amazing this place is. I highly recommend it :)

Yelp
Came here for the first time today. The banchan was very good different than the usual Korean restaurants that I've been to. We got the bento box and the dumpling and rice cake soup both were really great. It's definitely a small mom and pop shop, but you could tell the quality of the food is definitely worth coming for.

Jenn W.

Yelp
Always delicious from their tofu soups, kimchi pancakes to short ribs. Banchan includes potatoes too! Never have to wait for a table and the server is so kind.

Yelp
My group was originally going to the restaurant next door but we ended up walking in here instead. It's a Sunday and there was only one couple at a table inside. We said 'Hi' to the host and sat down. Host was friendly and he gave us time to peruse the menu. Wasn't quite sure how to order, and we were about to leave but MIL said to stay, so we did. After getting over the awkwardness, we asked the host some questions about the menu and he was kind enough to explain what accompanied the main dishes. The seating and table areas are nicely spaced out. Exhausts were very clean and well lit. We ordered the Pork Belly 'Trio', LA Garbi, Kimchi Fried Rice, Japchae, and a take out Beef Bibimbap (not pictured) for our prego SIL waiting at home. We liked the variety of banchan and dipping sauce. When the food started coming out we were very excited, happy, and impressed! Meats were grilled perfectly and the kimchi fried rice was delicious. Owner/Chef was out in the dining area and said goodbye to us on our way out. Glad we stayed and took our chance at this new Korean BBQ joint. Will put them on our list to check out next time we are in the area. Thank you!

Yelp
We were craving Korean food and did not want to drive to Koreatown or Orange County. This place is a gem in the heart of Arcadia. The food was delicious and authentic. I had the tofu dish on a cold night and it satiated my hunger. I would come back again! The dining room slowly filled up during the course of our meal and it was a sign to me that this is a local favorite. Come and check this place out!

Yelp
This is our go to spot for decently priced quality Korean food. The side dishes are always fresh and everything we've gotten so far is good. We like getting the lunch specials - the kimchi/pork soft tofu (if you get it spicy, it will make the soup on the oilier side but it's so good) and the umma's lunch box (bulgogi). The meat in the lunch box is well seasoned and what makes it so good for me is that the bulgogi has a smoky flavor to it. We also get the boneless short ribs every once in a while and it's well seasoned and the portion is decent. For legit Korean food in SGV, this is your place.

Yelp
Great service!!! I definitely will come back over there again in Arcadia, California when I get the chance to!!!! Five stars is exactly my total rating!!!!! Thank you guys so much for everything!!!!

Yelp
Saw that this place had ox bone soup so decided to try it out. Came in at 5:30pm on a Sunday and it was pretty empty but it filled up pretty fast shortly after around 6 pm. Menu is pretty extensive with many different items like kbbq, some hotpots, and rice/noodle dishes. I ended up trying these. Ox Bone Soup - This was fire. Would recommend, the broth was pretty strong and the noodles and small chunks of meat were delicious. Didn't really need any extra salt and rice was complimentary. Would get again! (5/5) Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap (Beef Bulgolgi) - This was a solid bibimbap. Its a bit on the expensive side at $20 but it was good. They give you a mustard bottle on the side (which is pretty much gochujang) and you mix the rice bowl yourself. It was a good but also nothing super special. (4/5) Overall, I would totally be back to try out the tofu soup next time and get another bowl of Ox Bone Soup. Prices are a bit on the higher side but its also located in Arcadia.

Yelp
Woweessss!! Came in for lunch and had this magnificent meal!! Not too busy, plenty of space in the seating!! It looks like all the tables can accommodate hot pot, I'm not totally sure cuz it's 90 degrees today not trying to get another heat stroke! they have plenty of sides too included in the photo... yummy yummy sides. The bibimbap was just what I needed after a long day of work (3 hours) I'm Vietnamese

Yelp
Finally made it here for lunch! (My family is a Moffett's family, so I am often vetoed.) How delightful! Lovely service and delicious banchan: yes, please! The restaurant is usually a grill. In some restaurants, I find that if you order lunch specials that are less expensive, you're neglected. (Understandable, relative to clients paying for higher-price, more intensive meals.) Not the case here. Lovely service, fun little background music. The tteokbokki was especially delicious: spicy, but also full of flavor and chewy in the best way possible. Dinner next time!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for dinner options and we decided to check out Fork Over Pork. I had been eating a lot of chicken and beef this week, so pork was a good way to mix things up for me. The restaurant was fairly empty at the time of our visit, we were able to sit at any empty tables of our choosing. I saw them cleaning up another table while we were here and I really want to commend their cleaning efforts here. The menu was on the pricey side with limited variety and large portions. It would probably be better to come here with a big group. Since it was just the two of us, we just got an Original Pork Ribs ($28.99) and a mild Seafood Tofu Soup ($15.99). As with most Korean restaurants, they also served some side dishes and a salad, which were average in taste but no refills were provided on the ban chans. The pork ribs had decent flavor but it was not soft and tender like I have had at other Korean pork rib restaurants. Definitely not the fall off the bone I want when eating ribs. Surprisingly the tofu soup was better than anticipated. There was a decent amount of clams in there too. Nice to try but I'm not in a rush to come back. It was good but lacking a mastery in its' specialty dish.

Yelp
The food here is pretty solid. Everything was tasty. The lady server/owner is nice. But my wallet is crying. We got the galbi for table top grill. It's like 38-39 dollars, not including tax. It comes with 3 strip of big pieces of meat. The meat is tender and marinade is sweet and nice. You can cook it yourself, but the lady would flip and cut it for you when she gets to your table. We also got the ox tail bone soup. This one is rich and creamy. If they put it in a black bowl instead of white, it would look nicer. It's a white soup... But it tastes delicious & worth my 15 dollars. Sadly the meat burnt my wallet, otherwise we would've ordered another noodle dish! The banchan/ side dishes are all pretty tasty. The only downside that I can think of is the price. The serving is pretty normal so it's good if you're trying to watch your weight, i guess. With that price, people would choose all you can eat. The lady gives nice service but she is solo. Takes order, serve, grill, clean up, deal with payments.

Yelp
I came here for their lunch special around 2pm on a weekday. There was no wait and I ordered a seafood tofu soup with mild spiciness. Thee side dishes came first and the soup about 5 minutes later. The soup was kind of bland with a small kick. There were some shrimp and clams included with a relatively decent amount of tofu. The side dishes were very delicious though, and they made the tofu taste way better than by itself. Overall, the food is average. I ended up giving a 4 star instead of 3 because this place is significantly cheaper than other tofu spots. Their lunch special was 12.99 compared to other places 15+.

Yelp
We have always driven by and never had a chance to try this place. Still on the hottest day in LA, we decided to try their spicy cold noodles, Bibimbap, and fried dumplings. I wish the cold noodles had little bit more broth flavor, instead of gochujang. But we really love their Bibimbap with beef and their fried Mandu. Their banchans are good too. We will definitely be back for those two items. If you're in the area, Mom place a try.
google avatar

Yelp
First time dining at this restaurant. We ordered the lunch special and it was quite good. Service was a bit slow since there is only one staff but she was friendly. They also offer tabletop grilling. We may come back another time to try it. Location is in the large CVS and Aldi shopping plaza with plenty of parking.

Esther L.

Yelp
Our Go-To when we're celebrating birthdays or GNO! Our usual and always hits the spot... Army Stew, kalbi, brisket, kimchi fried rice, kimchi pancake, and of course a bottle of Cass. We've had other dishes as well! So delicious! We love the owner! So sweet and welcoming. She serves all my favorite Korean comfort foods.
google avatar

Stevo O.

Yelp
This is a rather new Korean restaurant with an interesting name. The food is very ethnic and has a nice healthy taste, not being too oily or spicy. On this cold rainy day, chicken soup was perfect with jujubes and ginseng among the other spices. The red meat dishes were equally tasty with service within minutes of our order. As for ambiance, it was not overly decorated and very simplistic with about ten tables to serve people. I would definitely be back!
google avatar

Milisen M.

Yelp
It's so good and satisfies my food binging needs, hits the Seoul right down to my longhas. My go to is the tofu kimchee soup literally drooling just thinking about it...oh and the spicy pork bento box special!!! satisfies my spicy needs k done messing around going to go pick up my order love this place!
google avatar

Janay M.

Yelp
Only taking away one star because it is a little pricey if you're going with just yourself or two people. There is a lot of food that comes with the entrees and the food is good. I love coming here because the service is great. Normally the same lady working and always attentive. It's a small place but they have a quaint ambience with music playing on the background. Whenever I go to Santa Anita racetrack I stop by here because it's close by then go to Baskin Robbin's which is in the same complex. Will be back.

Yelp
This is a great spot for lunch for a Korean Food. The place is clean and they have a good amount of serving. At the time we can for lunch there's only one waiter serving but it was she was still attentive to few tables. We ordered beef brisket- the beef is fresh and good we enjoyed also had he sides that I think is unlimited. The lunch bulgogi taste good as well, it was plenty and the bento box is full- that we have to get a to go box. Over all great food. Clean restaurant, good area for parking.
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
Pros- hearty tasty Korean food Cons- wait times and service levels can be slow We enjoy the occasional special occasion dinners here. Galbi, spicy pork, and kimchi tofu soup always hits the spot. Additionally we've been frequenting the take out and the Umma boxes are great for a quick dinner take out. The portions are generous and if you want extra rice/kimchi there's a small fee. We generally like the spicy pork and bbq chicken umma boxes. The place is very casual. I feel like this place is unapologetically mom and pop shop. Knowing that, i feel like, makes the food taste better. The downside of this place being mom and pop is that the waitstaff can be slim. Like sometimes it'd get full and there's only 2 people in the front. The food would come out slow and it'd take forever to get a refill for the pitcher. So if I was in a hurry, I wouldn't dine in. But if you got the time to spare, I feel like you'll enjoy Fork Over Pork
google avatar

Ruben D.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! Delicious marinated meat, the staff is very attentive and polite. If you are unsure what to get ask and they give great recommendations.

J I.

Yelp
Awesome food and no wait! Have been here several times and never disappoints. Soon tofu is solid, bento boxes very flavorful and enough for 2 people. Bbq pork is the best!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: - stone pot bibimbap: 5/10, nothing spectacular about the dish itself Service: - friendly staff - fast service - refill of banchan Ambiance: - lots of empty seats and indoor seating - option for grill/bbq Note: - extremely steep prices for the dishes (most main entrees $20+), there's at least a $5-$10 markup for all dishes here - very limited menu
google avatar

Joanna L.

Yelp
Came back a couple times recently and tried: KIMCHI PANCAKE 5/5 - the kimchi pancake is really good here! Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside. They use a lot of kimchi too so it's really flavorful. GALBI TANG 4.5/5 - Really good! The soup is clear and flavorful. A tiny bit salty in my opinion, but quite yummy. It comes with glass noodles. COLD NOODLE 4/5 - Not bad! I'm not usually in the mood for cold noodle, but the cold noodle here really hits the spot. Noodles are really chewy and good. GINSENG CHICKEN SOUP 4.5/5 - Great chicken soup! There isn't much ginseng flavor (they put one small piece of ginseng), but the chicken flavor is nice and strong. The chicken was pretty overcooked in my opinion so it was hard to eat. But they soup also has sticky rice, dried dates, and scallions.
google avatar

Charles K.

Yelp
Generally well-rounded korean restaurant. A little on the pricier side, but the quality and taste are good enough for me. I recently got their Kimchi Fried Rice. Unique taste, it was more on the sour side, which I know some people like. Portion was reasonably big considering the cost. I was a little disappointed in the overcooked egg, but maybe that's because I got to-go. Still, haven't had good kimchi fried rice in a while, so I was satisfied. Very flavorful. I'd definitely come back once in a while.

Franz F.

Yelp
The food is really good , tasty and fresh! The service is a little slow. Great place for bigger parties because it's almost like a private room all to yourself!
google avatar

The D.

Yelp
I really used to like the bibimbap here, but I tried the tofu bibimbap the other day and it wasn't very flavorful. I'll try ordering something else the next time, but I was a little disappointed! service was good, but there were only two tables there at 1 p.m.
google avatar

Yelp
Love their cold noodles and pork ribs Excellent service Great for family dinners Ambiance is clean and comfortable

Yelp
This is our go to spot. Korean soul food, simple but tasty dishes. We usually get the boneless short ribs, but the spicy pork ribs are delicious too. Very friendly service, & plenty of parking.

Yelp
My friends suggested this place for lunch since they have been here many times, and I really loved it :D !! It was certainly a much-needed escape from the sweltering summer heat, and we liked how we didn't have to wait at all to be seated and to place our orders (unlike some other places on the weekends that are too packed or crowded). I really loved the bulgogi, the pork, the kimchi fried rice and the salad :) !! I felt these were pretty delicious :D !! I would certainly love to try their tofu soups sometime when it's not so hot outside. Maybe I'll opt for that on a cold winter day ;) ! They might not as much variety compared to some other Korean BBQ and tofu places in the San Gabriel Valley area. But that didn't bother us because we're pretty simple with our food taste. They don't have too many servers. But I felt that we were still well attended to, and our server was really warm, friendly and courteous :) ! We already had come in for a late lunch around 1 pm. But there will still customers trickling in after us. So perhaps they had the same strategy to come in for a late lunch as well ;) ! I would love to come back :D !!
google avatar

Laura N.

Yelp
Overall, a great little spot to get a barbecued Korean plate without going full 'all you can eat'. The woman who waits the tables is very responsive and quick, given she is the only one there at lunch.
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
Amazing service, good food! The owner was so gracious! We had accidentally stayed past closing time and she didn't rush us to leave. We had a great dinner with friends here and the owner's hospitality made the experience even better!
google avatar

Chloe X.

Yelp
So yummy! I nearly passed out after getting my blood drawn and my dad took me to get some ramen. It's only my second time coming here but the ramen is sooooooo good! Literally revived me lmao. The portions are huge and it's not that expensive, the service is also fast. I like the ambiance too because it's small and cozy, they also blast the ac when it's hot which is great!
google avatar

Lillian K.

Yelp
Came here for a bowl of Cold Noodles on a hot day. I came out refreshed! The buckwheat noodles submerged in cold broth l garnished with Julienne cucumbers, pre-sliced egg and daikon or Korean pear. And the sides of banchan. Fast and friendly service. Will come back to try the hot items.

Yelp
Man oh man, I was hoping for something better than what we experienced but sorry to say, we won't be coming back here. When our party of 7 arrived, we were the second party there. The only ones inside was a couple so we thought oh nice it'll be fast service. We ordered various dishes, meat dishes (that ranged from $32-$36), tofu soup (varies in sizes and price of $13-$17) and had kimchi fried rice. First off, the cooked meat dishes are PRICEY! But luckily the meat was juicy and good. I ordered the seafood tofu noodle soup which was average. The noodles are basically the ones you get from any market that you cook for 3 mins so I thought that was average and the "seafood" part was considered 3 small clams and 1 shrimp...like what? Lol. The soup itself was alright as well. I had mild which was durable for my hot Cheetos limit. The sides were good. The thing that made me go WHAT THE was that by the time we ordered, there were a total of 3 parties inside the restaurant. When we got our food, the waiter placed a big bowl of soup with a big pork bone and glass noodles. We did order something like it so we automatically thought it was ours especially with a party of 7. My fiancé was about to put his soup spoon in when a waitress came up to us and asked if that was ours. We shrugged and she took it back to her counter to check the tickets and she gave it to another table. That soup was literally on our table for a good 5 mins before you caught your mistake and you just go and give it to the next table (the correct person). If that was my soup, I'd ask them to make it again. I understand COVID is not that big of a deal anymore but that seems a little SUS to just take it from one table to the next. Overall, the food was average compared to the price and the service. Unfortunately, this experience influenced me enough not to make a second trip here.

Yelp
Been coming here for years, amazing small business and hidden gem. Owner is kind and food is alway homey, would recommend the bibimbap and soup dishes!

Yelp
I like to come here when I don't want AYCE Korean BBQ. It's never too crowded and I can always expect to be seated right away. I like to come here when I'm hungry because usually there is no wait. And I don't want to get hangry! I like to get Umma's dinner box because I think it's a great value! For now $16.99 you get rice, salad, bulgogi, jap che and a mix of the side dishes. The fried egg is $1.50 extra. Their hot stone bibimbap is good too. There is free parking but the plaza can get crowded.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Great Korean restaurant in Arcadia. Service was great and the food was delicious. The restaurant had a very serene atmosphere. We were able to talk and not have to shout to be heard. Plenty of parking. We ordered the hot bibimbap, so delicious and comforting. The chicken soup was so good, especially on a cold winter day. We also had bulgogi, ban Chan and fried dumplings.
google avatar

Elena C.

Yelp
The pork is grilled but dry. There's only one waiter on the floor. The food is ok but can be better. We never get the fork.

Yelp
The quality of the food here after the original owners sold out to non-Korean new owners have continued to deteriorate quite a bit over the past year. I was quite disappointed by my most recent visit. The seafood tofu soup tasted like they used prepackaged soup concentrate powder. Plus there were just 3 smallish shrimp and a few clams; I'd expected a little more variety. The rice at most Korean restaurants has been one of the things I like about Korean food. The rice in this bibimbob seemed like low quality rice and it was at times dry and crusty. The gochujang included in the takeout was also stingily insufficient. The worst part was the banchans. I get that banchans at Korean restaurants is often a way for the servers to make their tips so they generally do not provide extras with takeouts. But, as I've done through out the pandemic to support the servers, I included a 20% tip for my takeout order. The server acknowledged my request for some extra banchans after I paid; but, it seemed that she still didn't include any extra. However, as it turned out, it was just as well because they were pathetic: kimchi, soy sauce potatoes, and bean sprouts and that's it. The bean sprouts were tasteless and the kimchi was also salty and void of any flavor. The kimchi really showed that owners have little understanding of the Korean culture.

Yelp
Was craving Korean and this hit the spot. The place was pretty empty when we came in, but was clean and comfortable. We got the hot stone pot, kimchi pancake, and japchae, and everything was flavorful and hit the spot. Also, the sides that come with the meal were great as well. For sure will be returning. Only issue is finding parking lol

Yelp
This place is my absolute favorite place to go to. It has good customer service plus, the korean bbq is soo good. This place is very calming to be in too. It's very clean and neat.

Yelp
This is excellent Korean for SGV. Not quite to K-Town levels but my go to for not wanting to drive far. Their Original Pork Belly is very good. The Bibimbap with Bulgogi is also excellent. Glass noodles as appetizer is good and large portion. Rice Cake Soup is good. I usually do not order Soon Tofu here.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal. I usually get the short ribs, which, with all the sides, is enough to feed two at a very reasonable price. Their banchan are delicious and their kimchi soup is perhaps the best I've ever had. Service could be a little better but it seems to be a mom and pop shop and they're usually responsive when you flag them down. Ambiance is a casual place.
