"Forma is a restaurant worth popping your Lactaid for. The name of the game here is dalla forma, or cheese wheel - a unique preparation where freshly cooked pasta is tossed around and finished in a giant wheel of pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano. Both the Santa Monica and Venice locations of this neighborhood spot have reopened for lunch and dinner, expect beautiful canopies overhead, sun-filled patios, and a socially-distant cheese bar. Book a reservation here." - kat hong
"Montana Avenue is like the most popular member of your grandma’s Bridge club: loves to flaunt her wealth, and knows too much about everyone in the neighborhood. She’s not exactly your ideal dinner guest, just like Montana is not your ideal dinner destination. But Forma is a modern space that gives you a reason to be in this part of town. The small plates are great across the board, the cheese and charcuterie list is extensive, and the pastas are tossed in a cheese wheel for extra flavor. Just like that time Ethel casually told you about her stint in a traveling circus, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much fun you can have at Forma." - jess basser sanders, amy clark
"Seemingly out of nowhere, Forma dropped down on Montana’s chardonnay-drenched sidewalks and gave the rather geriatric neighborhood a major helping of youth. That’s not to say Swedish House Mafia rolled into town though. Forma is an old-school Italian joint but with an immensely welcoming and unstuffy vibe. Take note, Westside. You just got yourselves a great new date spot." - brant cox
"We wouldn’t usually advise you to head to Montana Ave. for a date unless you have a hard 8pm bedtime and you still wear Juicy Couture sweatsuits. But Forma is the exception. This modern Italian spot is full of servers who seem to enjoy talking to you, and a younger crowd of people who live north of Wilshire. Get any of the pizzas, or the pastas that are tossed inside a cheese wheel." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox
