This is a review of the Friday barbecue. I've gone by it several times and it always smells amazing, so I was excited to try it. Overall, our group enjoyed the food, but the price for the portion was high, and the website could use some additional information.
Food: the ribs, brisket, classic pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar cornbread, mac and cheese, and potato salad were popular in our group. I thought the brisket was the highlight - really flavorful and tender. I though the mac and cheese wasn't that cheesey and the special pulled pork was a little too vinegary for my taste.
Portions/price: We weren't sure how much food we needed to order, but the internet advised us to order 1/2 lb of meat per person and some sides. Accordingly, we ordered four 1/2-lb portions of meat and a full rack of ribs, plus 5 side dishes and 2 cornbread muffins, for 6 people. This cost $19.90/person with tax, so we expected a good amount of food. It was enough that we weren't hungry anymore, but we weren't very full either, and it ended up feeling a little pricey for what we got. Maybe some recommended portion sizes would be helpful.
Online information: we pre-ordered because the website made it sound like we had to, but when we arrived it became clear that people can order directly from the stand on the sidewalk, and there were additional options like sandwiches available that weren't possible to pre-order. Our order was in the fridge, so we had to heat it up rather than eating it right away. The pre-order pickup was inside the shop rather than on the sidewalk, but there were lines in both places so I'm not sure it saved us any time. Maybe we just missed something, but it seems like it would be useful to provide more information on the website about the options available for ordering so that people can choose what works best for them.
