My friends always come here for their birthdays. It has very nice atmosphere and is in a great location with a lot of street parking nearby. I used to love getting the whiskey cocktails but they have a great selection of mocktails that has expanded a lot recently, too. The food is also great for bar food. I really love the brussel sprouts and fries but all of the food is pretty solid.

1st time at this place. I ordered the Tavern Burger, the Fremont IPA and a Bib and Tucker Whiskey that the Bar Tender recommended. It was all Fantastic! I will definitely be back. LOVE IT ❤️

Super trendy, great vibes, I love the seat yourself and order from the QR code menu. You do have to get drinks from the bar and they had a wide variety. Including seasonal and whiskey cocktails. I went for a dirty martini and I wish I got his name because he made the best dirty martini! 10/10 to that bartender. There’s also a DJ at night. You can reserve a spot in advance for large parties.

Dropped while visiting friends who live nearby. We came during happy hour which have $6.00 beers, $8.00 cocktails and wine, some selected food too. We sat outside on a nice day and it was really pleasant. Food was tasty, fresh, well prepared and was very enjoyable. Service was friendly and the drinks were nicely made. Great little spot to come in Toluca Lakes.

Delicious specialty cocktails, and great food. Expect to spend $15-$20 per cocktail. However, since the back bar closed, ordering at the front bar can take a little while. I’d recommend finding a table and scanning the QR code rather than waiting in line at the bar.

Excellent food, Really good list of liquor (whiskey bourbon). Really enjoyed the outdoor patio atmosphere. Didnt like that dogs are allowed inside. The service is a bit odd, you had to go order at the bar and some of the order didnt make it so we had to follow up on it. I would recommend it, just bring some patience with you.

The serving team was very professional and very friendly, very nice place to take the family or couples night out.

Forman's is a cool vibe with great pub food, good cocktails, and reasonably priced whiskey pours. The Hot Chicken Sandwich is amazing. Come in, order at the bar, and find a seat. You won't regret it.

I recently spent an evening with friends at Formans and it was an experience that exceeded my expectation. The outside of this Tavern doesn't match the charm of what awaits inside. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance set the tone. Soft lighting, charming and eclectic decoration with shelves upon shelves of beautifully displayed bottles from Scotland, Japan, and beyond. The atmosphere hits that perfect balance between sophisticated and welcoming European pub, making it ideal whether you're coming alone for a quiet escape or with friends for a night out. The whisky selection is truly outstanding! From rare single malts to small batch bourbons and beautifully aged blends, theres something here for every palate. The bartender took time to ask about my flavor preferences and introduced me to a few options I might never have tried otherwise. Each recommendation came with a bit of history and tasting notes that made the experience even more memorable. Every pour was thoughtfully chosen and perfectly served: just the right temperature, no rush and plenty of time to savor each sip. Of course, there is Beer, wine and coctails.... although it is limited in comparison to whisky choices. And while the whisky alone would make this place worth visitng, the food adds to the experience. The menu is concise; however, the standout for me was the Tavern hamburger. Hands down one of the best I've had! Perfectly cooked, juicy and layered with just the right combination of toppings on a freshly toasted bun. It's the kind of burger that instantly makes you stop mid conversation to appreciate how good it is. The fries were just as impressive, from the crispy fries and brussle sprouts. Sitting outside in the backyard takes away a little bit from the charm and the service can be disapointing. Whether youre a whisky connoisseur or just beginning to explore, this place is a must visit as you will be transported to a European pub.

Great atmosphere and Great food and drinks. We have been going to this place for years. Please bring back the prior version of the Hickory Burger with the onions and bacon compote. I know you have the Hickory burger 2.0 but why not keep the classic - it really is a hit! I'm giving you 5 stars because I love this place:)

I stopped by to take advantage of their lunch special, which is a pretty darn good deal, any of their sandwiches plus fries and a soft drink for a reasonable price. All their burgers can be substituted with a veggie patty, which is an awfully good option, and all those burgers taste wonderful! They don't have servers here, you'll need to place your orders at the bar, which can get a little old for drinks when it's busy... But the bartender was very friendly and helpful navigating the menu. Always enjoy the warm sportsman's lodge type atmosphere inside, unique vibe. Really nice spot in Toluca Lake on Ventura Boulevard, I look forward to visiting again soon.

It's Sunday night, and I'm sitting at Forman Whiskey Tavern with my fantastic hubby. It's always happy here! The football game is on and music is on and everyone's happy and eating and drinking. What a blessing to be able to enjoy Sunday night like this! Just had a terrific ahi tuna salad: really yummy rare grilled ahi, avocado, wonton strips, and mandarin oranges on a bed of greens. My hubby states that his Louisiana wings are are superb, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with great sauce. We are sharing garlic Parmesan fries. Crispy! How lucky am I to have a hubby who thinks I'm beautiful and have a great body even though I'm pushing 60? Forman's a really fun place to come and sit and eat and drink and have a nice time on a Sunday evening. I am working my way through their menu of New Fashioned Old Fashioneds. I've had the Forman's Old Fashioned, Huntsman, the Sequoia, and tonight, I tried the Mountain Man. Next time we're here, I'll try the Canadian. All are superb. So far, I like the Sequoia the best. I love their wood paneling and their deer antlers on the wall. Exceptional bar food. Forman's is great for a little escape from reality.

I've been wanting to try Forman's for the last year or two and finally went. The place is very clean and professional. There are a few large TVs and screens to watch Dodger playoff games. The clientele is somewhat diverse and the bartenders were nice. I'd like to return for a burger or sandwich and Beef Tallow Fries.

Drinks only! It's always great to stop into this bar! The drinks are always solid! I have never had a drink that I did not like at this place! Beyond drinks they serve a full menu! Unfortunately I've never eaten here but the food looks just as solid as the drinks! On Monday through Friday they have happy hour. Happy hour is from 2-6 where there select cocktails, wine beer and food items on the menu. Drinks are 6-9 dollars. The bar can get busy at this time. They do also have a patio area out back. Plus a small patio area out front for people watch. I prefer to sit at the bar to watch the action. They also have some couches inside that are perfect for groups. Street parking only. Can get busy so be patient in finding a spot! Cheers!

What a gem! This spot has such a cool vibe, cozy seating and decor inside and a huge beer garden outside! The perfect place to grab a drink with friends or a for chill night out with good vibes. Service is good and the bartenders are great, special shoutout to Louie for the killer Mai Tai. Food is also good, kitchen closes at 10PM. Definitely now a go-to spot on my list!

Whiskey bar located in Toluca Lake with a very impressive selection of whiskey (my favorite). They have cocktails, beer, and bites as well, but of the times I've been here, I've mostly gone to get pours of the different whiskeys they usually have on hand here at more than reasonable prices. The decor has kind of an equestrian stable theme (I think) The folks here have always been really friendly and fair in terms of serving you in the order you come up to the counter. I've been here later in the evening a couple of times, but it gets a lot more busy/crowded as it gets later. The vibe in the early evening and during the day on the weekend is chill usually. Great happy hour deals and bites. I got the charcuterie board here and it was nice. I've had some of the other small bites as well and all have been solid to great. Okay, if you read this far: I would say this is my favorite place in all of LA to drink whiskey. Part of me wants to gatekeep, but they deserve all the business they get. Not only do they have an excellent selection, but they consistently get some rare gems that are not necessarily white whale status, so the prices are still in the mid teens to low twenties for some really quality pours. They do have higher end rare bottles, but of course you're going to pay up for that. The fact that these ultra rare bottles are there is another bonus if you have the funds and you want to partake. Parking seems to be fairly easy in the area, especially if you're willing to walk two to three blocks.

I randomly popped in here for a cocktail after dinner on Riverside Dr on a Friday night, and wow--it was packed! It took a bit of patience to get a drink, but once I made it to the bar, the bartender was friendly, quick, and mixed up some seriously good cocktails. If you're an Old Fashioned fan, this spot is a must--they've got some fun variations on the classic that are worth trying. I've been here before for an event and remember the food being solid, and I've even ordered from them on DoorDash with great results--so they definitely hold up outside the bar scene too. Inside, the décor is inviting, and the spacious back patio is perfect for larger groups. While most of the seating looked first-come-first-serve, I did spot a few tables with reservation signs, so if you're planning to come with a big group, calling ahead would be smart because this place gets busy fast. Overall, a great spot for drinks (and maybe food next time) that I'd happily come back to!

Hit up this tavern with my wife late on Fourth of July loved it! Super cozy English pub vibe, cool wall decor, and a chill atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Didn't try food this time, but we'll be back to check it out. My wife's Lavender Sky 2.0 cocktail was amazing; my tap beer (forgot the name) was crisp and tasty. Great spot for a laid back night out highly recommend! Ambiance: 4.8/5 - Cozy pub feel, super inviting. Service: 4/5 - Staff were awesome and friendly. Taste: 4.5/5 - Drinks were great; food TBD.

Forman's stands for Fuuuuuun! Great place for happy hour, meeting friends or a casual date. Indoor seating is cozy and bar staff is great. Outdoor seating is spacious and the ambiance can be fun when it's packed and they open up the outside bar. The food is actually great! I know, some bars don't have the best of choices but foreman's has great appetizers and if you're a burger person, please try the blue cheese burger .... Yum! I never like blue cheese unless it's on a burger! The hickory burger is fantastic as well. We had ours lettuce wrapped and they made the lettuce look like buns so we could eat it and not be extremely messy. I'll be baaaaa-aaaaaack!

This whiskey joint/burger stand never seems to disappoint. They have so much whiskey and bourbon it's unfathomable. Highly recommend any of the crafted old fashions. I prefer the woodsman a lot of people like the chocolate banana but either way the whiskey is great, the bartenders have a very heavy poor and the atmosphere the place is inviting.

I have been continually impressed with Forman's! It's a great gathering spot for coworkers, friends, or family. The happy hour is incredibly reliable and satisfying. It's the perfect way to start your evening with an old fashioned and some fish tacos. One of the reasons I know every drink at Forman's will be great is that they don't batch make any of them, like many similar bars in the area do. Each drink is freshly made to order. The space itself has something for everyone. The front porch is great for people watching, inside is loud and cozy, and the back patio has a wonderful atmosphere and room to spread out. I recently had a group meet at Forman's and it was so easy to make a reservation. Plus the staff was kind throughout the whole night when I had questions! If only Forman's was closer, I'd come all the time. Great drinks, delicious food, and free parking?! No complaints from me.

My first time there with good friends who invited me I loved it the place is very clean they accommodate you very well. The food is very tasty. It's a comfortable place worth trying.

I've only been to Forman's Whiskey Tavern once for a dear friend's birthday party, and while it's not at all close to my local area, I can definitely imagine myself returning. I don't drink very often, and I'm on a strict diet, which is code for "I generally either need to scour a menu to find things I can eat or put in extra special modifications to get things to my liking." Fortunately for me (and the server/bartender), Forman's has a good number of items to please even the most discriminating diner! Food: The food at Forman's is not your average bar food. This is quality food, masterfully crafted from quality ingredients. I enjoyed at least two orders of the grilled fish tacos as well as some Brussels sprouts. Those of you who follow my reviews know that if a restaurant has either of these items, it's a sure bet I will order them. Forman's has both, so you know it was chow time for me. The fish was moist, flaky, and best of all, piled HIGH. I'm in a constant state of hunger, so big servings of food I can eat are a sure way to my heart. Anna, my constant companion and wife, knows this, and once she say the gusto with which I attacked my first order of tacos, she surreptitiously ordered another plate for me. They didn't last long either. Like the tacos, the Brussels sprouts were delicious and well-prepared, the right combination of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I mentioned that I rarely drink alcohol, so it was my great fortune that Forman's has a massive self-service water dispenser that is regularly refilled, but you can also order ice-water from the bar. I did both. More on that under "ambience." Service: The service was terrific. We ordered at the bar, but the food was brought out by servers, who also made themselves available to handle refills and the like. Everyone with whom I interacted was polite and professional, each person with an easy conversational style. I appreciate the excellent and swift service, and I also like unobtrusive service. Forman's staff excel in both regards. Ambience: Forman's has a terrific atmosphere. I'm not sure how to describe it, so I'm going to go with "Bavarian deep woods gastro pub chic:" lots of wood, steins, and other tchotchkes on every wall and ceiling. Very cool! There is plenty of seating, and for events, you can reserve tables. We had a reservation for 25 at a long table right in front of the bar. I could imagine Beowulf himself sitting at such a table in King Hrothgar's mead-hall. I noted earlier that I took advantage of all the water, which naturally necessitated a trip to two tot eh restroom. Like the resto of Forman's, the restroom was clean and well-maintained. I haven't been back to Forman's since my friend's birthday--this is her "local," as the Brits say--but I am already looking for an excuse to go back. All this talk of fish tacos has activated my appetite, so perhaps I'll make way way there again soon. Until then, give them a shot and let me know how you like it.

My work friend organized a no-host get together at this place on a Thursday at 5pm, and that's what brought me here. I read some of the other Yelp reviews ahead of time, and knew to expect a convivial atmosphere. My friends had reserved an area of the backyard garden/patio for our group of around 20-25 people, and they had allocated 3 tables for us. There is 2nd bar right in the backyard garden that has a much shorter drinks and food line. I appreciate that, as mentioned in other reviews, there was an option to order my food vegetarian. The staff even asked me about my fries, and if I wanted them vegetarian. Very, very good atmosphere. Staff came by often to pick up the empty dishes and glasses. They had a DJ spinning in the garden live. The place is busy, and lots of nice-looking people.

Smokey Old Fashioned and delicious Patty Melt, with the patty having a juicy medium rare center. The ambience is fitting for a whiskey tavern. Get seats first and then order at the bar for you drinks and food. Parking can be tricky. I parked at the Wells Fargo area and didn't get a ticket, but your mileage may vary.

Cocktails are good enough. I'm a sucker for a cocktail with egg white in it. I'm kind of obsessed with the French Dip sandwich here. Quality feels top tier. Au jus is good enough to drink. Best French Dip I've had in L.A.

Drinks are good. Burgers and fries are bomb. Service sometimes comes with an unnecessary attitude. Can get packed in here. And parking can be a challenge. There is street parking but you might have to walk a block or two. Some parking in the back too. Lots of restaurants trying to accommodate not much parking.

My first visit to Forman's was a winner! Great space...we sat on the patio. Bartenders were friendly and professional, and poured great drinks. Love the cheese plate and the chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back!

Racist racist racist!!!! If you're Mexican don't come here!! All of the staff is sooooooo rude. I looked around the bar and I was the only Mexican, and I was talking to a white guy and one of the regulars whispering idk what to the rest of the bar team, but the entire staff looked at me. I never felt more uncomfortable than I did today. These woman were so racist, it's sooooooooo sad! It's 2025, I just went for a beer but I swear if you have colored skin, you are not welcome there from the way I was treated as mexican woman. Literally the bar manager tried to play it off, but I'm not a dump customer. As a colored LIGHT skin woman, I never felt more unwelcome and disrespected in my life

A friend just told me that I had a 3 star review up here from 8 years ago... I truly am sorry for keeping it up for so long. I totally forgot. In the last 7 years they've been nothing but 5-star delicious and wonderful! Formans is my wife and I's favorite tavern in Los Angeles. The food, the staff, the wine, the service and the atmosphere is always stand out incredible. Whomever I was talking about all those years ago, doesn't work there anymore. BTW, the Happy Hour, the French Dip, the backyard indoor/outdoor patio... AMAZING. Let this review inspire a few more 5 stars to make up for years of misleading folks! Oy! See you there!

1. Happy hour is 3-6 pm. We got there after 5 and it was PACKED 2. If you want a cocktail that isn't sweet, get the sequoia. 3. The back patio area was great. Honestly wouldn't have known it was there if we hadn't made a reservation. My only gripe is the service was pretty slow. So, patience is a necessity. The cocktails are great. You just gotta wait for them.

While Forman's is great all-around - location, service, atmosphere - my five stars go to their jalapeño burger. It is phenomenal - perfectly picked peppers (jalapeño plus poblano), pepperjack cheese - perfect flavour. My boyfriend chose the french dip, which he enjoyed. It featured horseradish in some capacity, but it must not have been too strong because he didn't complain about the sandwich being "spicy" (he's very sensitive). We had seasonal/past menu cocktails - a strawberry-garnished concoction served in a mason jar and a minty whiskey quaff. Quality, fresh-tasting drinks. Just so you know what to expect - it gets pretty lively, it's brightly lit, and you have to order at the bar. I wouldn't describe the atmosphere as "intimate", but it's fun for a group of friends. We'll be back!

High quality drinks and delicious food! Watching the bartenders create your drinks is memorizing. Great Happy Hour options and a roomy back patio for larger parties. Kid and pet friendly!

Really enjoyed this place! Loved the outdoor section and we were able to get a corner area which was nice to celebrate my friend's birthday. I loved the dessert rose drink I got and it was so cool how they made the ice cube a rose! The French dip sandwich hit the spot and the fries were delicious though I think a bit over priced ($10!).

I highly suggest this bar! The service was great, bartender gave great suggestions and the staff were super welcoming. My drink was delicious, I'm a big fan of banana whiskey! The food was also really good, especially for bar food lol! I will without a doubt be back and suggest to friends!

I love that Forman's is my favorite go to for delicious drinks and a great food. Their menu goes far beyond what one would expect of eating at a local neighborhood bar, including fantastic salads, great burgers, and tasty fries (3 ways). However, what I look forward to most is ordering off the appetizer menu. Our favorites are the spinach dip with toasted bread, ceviche, fish tacos, chicken wings, and grilled artichokes. The entire menu is elevated with top notch ingredients and pairs well with any of their exotic drinks that are flavorful and refreshing. The one downside is having to order food from the bar when eating inside. The line can get really long, and it's daunting if you want more food. The patio bar does offset this quite a bit, so we tend to eat out back. And the patio has become so beautiful over the past 3 years (since COVID).

This gastropub has a great deal of potential. The mixed drinks are spot on and the whiskey pours are respectable. If they continue to build out their whiskey selection, this will be one of the top whiskey tasting spots in the country. The problem is, the bartenders don't have great knowledge of bourbon, rye and scotch. They need to change that. They need a larger venue with more seating and proper tasting glasses for straight bottle pours of brown liquor. The food is very nice. In fact. I think their tavern burger deserves an honorable mention for best LA area burger. Come for the whiskey, stay for the food.

We've been going to Foreman's for over six years -- ever since we moved to Toluca Lake -- and it's become more than just a neighborhood bar for us. It's a place where our kids have literally grown up. We'll head straight to the back patio, let the kids hang out with their iPads or watch the TVs, and just enjoy the atmosphere. This place is the definition of friendly, familiar, and high-quality. I've never even ordered another cocktail because their spicy pineapple margarita is that good. Seriously -- try it once and you'll understand. The burgers and sides are always on point. The fries cooked in beef tallow are next-level, and you can taste the difference. Every bartender here knows their stuff -- they craft cocktails better than anywhere else in the neighborhood. It's not just mixing drinks, it's an art here. Yes, sometimes you'll wait in line for a drink, but honestly, it's worth it. (Pro tip: I always order two when I go up first -- save yourself the second trip, lol.) Foreman's is one of those rare places that feels elevated but never pretentious. Five stars for the family vibe, the food, the drinks, and the people. We're lucky to have this spot in the neighborhood.

Met up with a group for a hoorah . It's chill . You order first then the food is sent to you which was diff but it's a bar so I didn't mind it . Condiments you have to ask for as well as they are not at the table . They have street parking . The block is cute plenty of places to eat I do believe this is the only bar ! The freshest margarita was cool . I had the fish tacos . Went during happy hour so everything was reasonably priced !! My friends got the wings ...they looked crispy on the outside I think they needed to be more well ! Fries were good . Over all atmosphere is what it's about I think ! I would rate it a 7 out of ten !

Absolutely loved this bar. Great drinks, food, and service with just an all-around cool vibe. Nothing pretentious about this place. The bartenders were amazing, and so were the cocktails that they were cranking out. They offer an extensive list of bourbon, whiskey, and other spirits along with plenty of tasty food options. I highly recommend this place and personally can't wait to be back!

As a former midwestern I can't recommend this place any more. The food, service and ambiance are outstanding and beyond that , the liquor selection is beyond. What an experience!

I like this spot. I do. I feel like the lines make me like it less which is the problem when you find a good spot! Very cool vibe. Very busy on a Friday night...surprise surprise! I think this is my third time here. Once for a birthday, once for a date, and tonight for a friend visiting. The night of the date it was very chill and mostly empty, tonight and the birthday party night...packed to the gills. The 4/5 is only based on the crowd and business. They would benefit from a bigger location but there's something so quaint and sweet about this little toluca lake hideaway!

hidden gem in Toluca Lake. plenty of options of beers on draft and apparently the old fashioned is real good because I saw a million people order them. Great laid back ambience and great customer service. definitely will be back.

Their cocktails (Espresso martini and Lavender Sky 2.0) you must try!!! And I really love the backyard. So chill and bigger table! Service is also great!

My twin and I had an amazing time celebrating our birthday's here last night. We made reservations through email a couple of weeks ago. We received a reply that same day. All of our friends loved the food and drinks. Everything tasted delicious. I loved that the food was hot, because I don't like to eat my food cold. The drinks are strong, but great! Everyone there looked like they were having a fun time! I saw other people celebrating their birthdays there too. Service was great considering how busy it was. They have gender neutral bathrooms, but they also have gender specific bathrooms which I like. It's definitely not the last time I'll be coming here.

Beef tallow fries! Who knew?! And they're delicious. Nice to see another restaurant hopping off toxic seed oil train!

Love this place, been coming here for years, but I'm begging you please remove this hard rock music! It's impossible to sit and enjoy outside doesn't matter if you're alone or with a group. It's like you're sitting in hell, literally, song after song non stop. Crazy Other than that, the best place!

The Backyard Burger, with a Briochr Bun,cheese (I opted for cheddar instead of american), shredded lettuce, tomato, and 1000 island, is the BEST BURGER! They have mastered the art of making a premium Burger, and at a reasonable price!!! The flavor is perfect! And the fries - the best as well!!

For several years I've bit my tongue but I a recent visit I've decide it's too consistent to not post about. People cut in line and the bartenders serve them. Lines are way too long at off peak hours. Staff is mid. Good music, overhyped over packed over priced. Need more bars in the area so that it's not so obnoxious here.

4/5: TLDR- It gets packed here, its hard to find parking on busier days, service is fine enough but the vibes are right. Ordered: - Big Hunter (?) Whiskey Cocktail 5/5 Obviously I had to get some whiskey related and this one seemed like the one and I'm glad it got it. Two in fact even though I could feel it after one. It almost has a similar profile to a Moscow mule except replace it with whiskey. I thought it was delicious - Parm Fries 3.5/5 They were fine. Nothing to write home about. A bit soggy - Sliders: 4/5 These were fun! Good flavor and condiments with it too. The bread was also quite nice. - Wings: 5/5 These were devoured. They had such a good flavor: smoky and a hint of heat. Good sized wings too. Would definitely have again. Ambiance: 5/5 We were here for a work event but in the grand scheme of things it was still packed for a Thursday. We all had the same idea. But there's so many options to hang. Plenty of inside space and of course a massive outdoor area. Places to stand with friends, sit in a large group, and play games. Heaters are there when it gets cold too. They also have an outdoor bar so you don't have to go inside. I wouldn't have believed you if you told me all that was here. Service: 5/5 I have to give props to the staff here. As busy as it was on top of our work event they were pretty on top of it. No complaints really. Parking: 3/5 There is street parking but it could be hard to find. I got lucky and it's not a bad walk if you need to walk but best of luck still. Definitely will come back!

Our new face spot, with friends moving into Toluca lake it's a nice spot to walk to. Love the options of being inside or outside and their diverse selection of whiskies. Gets pretty busy since they usually host large parties but we always have good service and a lot of fun!

The place was busy but not too busy and the food and drinks rocked! Especially the chicken wings!
