Formosa Chinese Restaurant

The people who run this are really nice. First time ordering here since 2020, we had a small issue and let them know, and they apologized and went out of their way to make it up to us. Overall extremely satisfied and appreciative of the wonderful service! The food is great and the pricing is better than other nearby places. Can't ask for a better place for Chinese food.

Ok, guys... This place is under new ownership and it's already several steps above what it was! If you've ever been turned off by the atmosphere or staff, I strongly encourage you to give this place another shot. For some reason, it felt like the previous ownership let the place sit and didn't put much love into the business. The new ownership seems much more proud of their business and they actually smile!

We enjoyed our food.

I ordered from Grubhub. The portions were extremely small and barley contained any meat. The bottom dish in the photo is “pepper steak.” It had a total of 5 bite sized pieces of steak/meat in the entire $11 entre. It was nearly all onions with some peppers. Additionally, no utensils were provided and the order arrived 30 minutes late.

The mixed vegetables were perfect. Fresh, cooked crisp tender and complimented nicely with the chicken♡

LoMein was GREAT. Best lomein we've ever had. The place itself is kinda dirty- wouldnt recommend eating in. Had a wierd smell.

Delicious egg rolls and wonton soup! Came back 2 days in a row! Friendly service!

Food was delicious. My family would always order from a different Chinese food restaurant but the quality has been awful lately so we needed a new place. Formosa was suggested by a friend and we are sure glad they did. Our food was great. We will definitely be ordering from here again.

Moved to Chalfont not too long ago. Been looking for an affordable basic Chinese takeout joint. Formosa fits the bill. Food is nothing fancy. Portions and prices are reasonable and the sauce flavor is good. Love using the beyond app to order where coupons automatically pop up when you spend enough. If you are looking for higher end, this is not the place for you. Basic comfort Chinese takeout? Give this place a try.

Grossly disappointed in Formosa - went here on a recommendation form a co-worker and we were quite saddened by the quality and taste of the food. When we try a new Chinese place, we try to order the same exact "standard order" so as to compare apples to apples - and that's what we did here... Sesame Chicken, King Pao Chicken, some variation of fried rice, crab rangoons, and fried dumplings. For starters, how does one screw up simple pork fried rice?? It tasted rancid and stale, for lack of a better word. Just awful. Chicken was underwhelming and not anything to write home about. Kung Pao was just bad - really lacking in flavor and spice. Even the dumplings were just okay - maybe the sort of quality you'd get with some frozen ones prepared at home. Only thing I'd not complain about was the crab rangoons - they were.... fine. Then, the icing on the cake: not even a single fortune cookie included with some $50 worth of take-out.... Really?? I get that's an American thing and not at all Authentic Chinese, but we are in America, after all. We will not be back to Formosa.

If you're craving basic Chinese takeaway Formosa is what you're looking for. The food isn't outstanding but it's good enough and hits the spot. It reminds me of the Chinese takeaway we would get in the city but maybe just a little less flavorful. Using the Beyondmenu app avoids having to call which means you're less likely to get any mistakes and it's also really easy to apply any coupons that are activated for your order amount. If you do have a mistake and need to call don't let the attitude bother you as it's a cultural thing but reach out to BM to resolve if you're OK with a refund. I'm a fan of their General Tso's tofu, we used to get the General's Tso's chicken but it was just a whole lot of fluffy breading from the batter. They make a decent cold Sesame noodle and when we order we always get one or two orders of that. The spring rolls are usually pretty good, the egg rolls can be a bit greasy. The onion pancakes remind me of the type I buy at Assi Plaza but they're good and are another repeat buy. The dumplings and soups are good. My son likes the beef and broccoli. We have a person with an egg and dairy allergy in the house and they do pay attention to the notes on dishes that typically include these and using the app helps with this a lot. Food is a 3 Speed and accuracy is a 4 I'd give them a solid 3.5 but rounded up.

This is my favorite Chinese takeout! The roast pork Mei Fun is spot on. I also love the Crab Rangoon. The family that own the establishment are lovely, and watching their son grow, and take on more responsibility is heart warming. I go on a regular basis, and when they great me so enthusiastically, it feels like my Cheers!

The lunch special was not good. Little chicken in the orange chicken, just breading. They could not figure out the "extra spicy" request. Received a very nice small reusable plastic container, though! Not returning.

Best fried chicken wings in town!

Stopped by since we wanted some quick takeout. The food is just so-so for what you pay for and it feels like you're waiting forever when you compare it to other similar chinese takeout-type places.

Skip the General Tso's Chicken...I don't believe there is actually and chicken meat in it. Seemed like mostly breading and no discernable chicken meat.

I've never had the General Tso's so I can't speak to some of the negative comments about that one. I usually get either Sesame Seed Chicken, Chicken with Cashews or Moo Goo Gai Pan. I've always been happy with all of them. I started picking up food here because the place we used to get it from in Souderton closed and this is on my way home from work. I've been going here almost since it opened, about 2x a month. My husband almost always gets Chicken with Broccoli which he loves. We really like their eggrolls too - flavor is good and they're a decent size. We love the wonton soup as well. I'm partial to crab rangoons also. I've had them from a lot of different places and these are my favorite by far. The filling is really good and the outside is light and crispy. They are a little greasy but that's going to happen when the cream cheese filling inside gets cooked. I end up heating them up a little in the toaster oven when I get home so they're nice and hot then set them on paper towel to absorb some of the grease. I don't really understand the comment from the one person about the wait being long. I have never called ahead. I just drop by and order at the counter. It's never taken more than 15 minutes to get my food. Their phone is always ringing and there's always people coming in and out picking up food while I'm waiting so it's not like they aren't busy. This is the type of place you go to for takeout or a quick meal when you're out running errands. There are a few tables but it's not the type of place for a nice sit down meal. If you want something like that go elsewhere like Yantzee over at Airport Square in Lansdale or Eastern Dragon in Quakertown. I hope this place doesn't close any time soon!

I will NEVER order from here again. My coworkers and I wanted to order Chinese from this place and the lady on the phone was extremely rude and disrespectful. She asked me for the address multiple times to a school they constantly deliver to. When the food took longer than an hour I called back and was SCREAMED at by the same lady because the delivery driver couldn't find the school we work at.. mind you that this restaurant and my school are on the same street. After asking how long my food would take she REFUSED to deliver the food and CANCELLED our orders. Needless to say we will NEVER order from this restaurant again and am happy to be spending my money elsewhere. If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would.

This is really good food and the selection is amazing. If you like Chinese food, try Formosa. You won't be disappointed.

I probably go here like once a week, but that's mainly bc I work in the area for 10 years and there just isn't many options. With that said I would avoid the General Tso's or any meal that uses the same type of chicken pieces, Orange etc.. They freeze the chicken pieces then dump them straight in the Deep Fryer which makes the chicken really tough to eat, which is a shame bc I do like there Generals Sauce. The sweet and sour on the other hand isn't bad, chicken is usually softer not sure why though since they freeze that too, but I usually stick with the Lo Mein which isn't bad.

Our go to Chinese take out!!! Sesame chicken and pork fried rice is the best!!! Service is reliable and food is always yummy.

All their dishes are delicious and generous portions. Chic. Lo mein is very tasty. Sesame chic. Is also excellent. Fast turn-around on take out.
