We recently visited the museum using our Houston Library pass, and despite its compact size, it offered a day full of imaginative play and excitement for the kids. The museum is a treasure trove of interactive activities, including a vet clinic, shopping center, Mercedes Benz showroom, classroom setup, and a lab. During spring break, they even hosted (act) shows that added to the overall experience.

I love this smaller sized children's museum! The larger Houston children's museum is a little overwhelming for me so I really love this location. There's restrictions on where you can and cannot eat though. And only bathrooms in the front.

Google
Good experience, my little ones enjoyed. The entrance fee is $15 per person(adults and children) which I think it’s a little too overpriced.

This place is a wonderful place to take your kids to explore. It's just the right size for your kids to explore comfortably. Trick or treating was one of the many highlights of my kiddos trip

We go here pretty frequently with our 4 year and 2 year old. Small space but very well maintained. Nice crafts for the kids. Not as crowded as the main children’s museum on weekends.

This place is so fun! We visited with a 4 and 8 year old and they both had a great time. Loved all the attention to detail to make the spaces realistic. The staff were really amazing and patient with the children (especially the ones helping with the science experiments). They also do a really great job of keeping the spaces clean, because the kids sure love taking animals from the vet all the way to the grocery store and the foods from the diner to the police station. The painting station was stocked up, had smocks, all the paints - they really thought of everything!

The Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center is an exceptional place for young minds to thrive and explore. Here are some details on why it's such a wonderful destination: **Educational Paradise:** This center is designed with learning and exploration in mind. It provides a wide range of interactive exhibits and activities that are not only engaging but also educational. Kids can delve into various subjects, from science to art to history, all while having fun. **Hands-On Experience:** What sets this place apart is the hands-on experience it offers. Children can touch, play, experiment, and discover, making learning a truly immersive adventure. This interactive approach helps kids retain knowledge and fosters a love for learning. **Friendly and Caring Staff:** The staff at the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center are remarkable. They are not just knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and amiable. They go the extra mile to ensure that every child and family feels welcome and supported during their visit.

We went on a Friday, it was Perfect, not too busy, kids got a chance to experience everything that they could. Very well maintained and clean! There’s a sanitizing station on almost every wall! A lil expensive but worth it since it’s all well maintained! Restrooms were very clean also. Have some snacks or water for the kids in your vehicle, there are water fountains (if I recall) but no restaurants or snack bar’s inside or close by (like next door)

Yelp
Although this kid's museum is no where near the same caliber as the one in downtown, it's still a nice (and more tamed) version of the place for your little ones to enjoy indoors. The toddler area is great! They do such a good job at cycling out the toys for sanitation and the activities are all suitable for that age. Both my boys loved going there. The other areas, such as the miniature city (kidtropolis) is fun. What kid doesn't enjoy shopping by themselves and pretending to be a cashier? I appreciate the crafts that they offer there and the staff who assist the kids. My son got to paint on a rock. As simple as that sounds, I find it daunting to bring out the paint set at home because of the potential mess. My only minor recommended improvements are: - The ambulance car needs a little bit of TLC. One of the four buttons is non-functional. Also, one of the buttons is physically broken, but still turns on the lights. - I think it would have been really cool to connect the police radio with the ambulance radio. - I think the pretend defibrillator should make some sort of noise as a more fun way to interact with it. The light just turns on, which I don't think kids notice or care for. - The wooden car and track set is setup too tall. The toy is meant for kids, but only stools are provided. The kids would have to stand on the stool to play and I find that a hazard. The track should be placed lower at a kid friendly height, such as the one in Play Street. - The restrooms should have toilets and sink that are short enough for kids to use independently, sort of like the one at IKEA. It helps parents who have to hold onto a baby and help the older sibling. - Although I appreciate the current cultural center area, it's a bit boring. Rarely do I see kids interact with the items there.

Yelp
Visited here while visiting a friends. We brought all the kids here and the kids had a blast & so did the adults! So many interactive things to do and little projects to so through out. I'm so happy we picked this spot to take the kids!

Yelp
This museum is also a great place to bring your child. I have been here maybe over three times and I absolutely love coming here for my son to do new projects and meet new friends. If you are a Lonestar holder, you can show your card at the front desk with your identification to get free or discounted entry . I highly recommend this place

Yelp
Perfect place to get the kids tired. Fun opportunities to learn about real life experiences. Restrooms were impeccable and the activities/play areas are constantly organized by the volunteers and employees. Few snacks and drinks available for purchase. Parking was very easy to navigate. Perfect spot to spend a hot or rainy afternoon with the kids.

Yelp
My family and I visited here today for my kiddo's birthday. This location is a tad hidden and if you don't have your maps on, you'll likely miss it. It's right next to the former sugar factory, but tucked in a bit behind it. Fair warning, this children's museum is A LOT smaller than the one in the Museum District. Like by a lot. It is probably 5 times, if not more, smaller than the MD location. Parking is a lot easier though as it's not as busy as their main location. Upon entering, it smelled of being freshly cleaned, which is reassuring that my kid (hopefully) won't catch any bugs here. Once inside, you have to walk a bit of ways until you get to the main desk. The cashiers check you in, take your payment and then issue you the museum stickers that signify that you've paid. There are a few main areas with smaller activities within them. The area immediately to your left after paying was mostly for Asian heritage/culture. Further down, there was another area that had various "Klutz" branded crafts within it - such as making unique paper airplanes along with "tests" to see if you could yank a tablecloth out from under some dishes. Further down in the museum, you'll find "Kidtropolis" which is basically their little kiddo town. This town has all sorts of pockets of stores, a bank, a vet's office, etc. Children can pretend to be a veterinarian, a banker, a CSI personnel, and even a chef. Overall, it was entertaining for an hour or so. We began looking for "the rest" towards the end of the town, but realized that was it.

Yelp
Small but just enough space for little ones to enjoy. Took our 6 year olds and 4 year daughter of our friend. They enjoyed their couple of hrs of stay. HEB , wells fargo, ambulance were fun for kids. Science related experiences were few compared to downtown location.
google avatar

Yelp
We really liked this place, I dont know how often they change themes but we went with the dragons and fairies and lots of great info about Vietnam. So many activities, we went with about an hour and a half before closing and that wasn't nearly enough time, especially if you have super curious kids that want to try everything. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Our family received a membership to Houston Children's Museum/FB Children's Discovery Museum for our kids for Christmas. We finally had a chance to try out this museum. We've been to numerous Children's Discovery Museums across the country so I was expecting a similar experience... meh, this place was just ok. We came with 4 kiddos ages: 9, 9, 7 and 6. The biggest takeaway, this museum is REALLY small. Once we got to the end, I asked a worker if there was more (an upstairs? another wing?). She kind of chuckled and said no. We blew through this place in less than an hour. The different rooms didn't have a ton to do and what they had to do, our kids weren't super stimulated. They would be in there for like 5-10 min and be like, "Can we go to the next one?" Out of all the play areas, our kids liked the H‑E‑B shopping one the best. (It paled in comparison to the Wegman's one at the Rochester National Museum of Play where the registers really scan barcodes and print out a REAL receipts as a "souvenir." But, we spent the most time in here. All in all, our kids had a good time BUT expected more. I totally don't think it's worth the $15pp price (Our visiting would have cost $75!!!) but like I said, we had a membership gifted to us. We're looking forward to visiting their sister museum.

Yelp
I like this place as an alternative to Houston Children's Museum. It's like its mini version. This place is pretty spacious and at the same time you won't have to worry about your kids being lost. That's why I prefer this museum more. There are staff everywhere to organize the toys after kids are done playing with them. They even play with the kids if they can. The restrooms here are clean. If you are planning on using your WIC card for a free pass, you have to bring it and the most recent copy of benefits you are receiving the current month. Also, call and verify how many people are allowed inside if you're using WIC.

Yelp
The center was smaller then the the children's museum in town but it was great bc it wasn't overcrowded. My toddler enjoyed the tot spot and it was plenty for her to play with. We even walked around where the big kids were and she was able to touch a few things and admire from afar. They had some pretty cool cars for the kids to get in like a mini fire truck and police car however the big kids were hogging it so my kid didn't get a chance. The establishment was clean and the staff were pleasant. The restroom was clean as well. They do have a no outside food sign upon entry so just be mindful you can't have your snacks out while inside. It wasn't a problem because I just went out just past the entrance to give her a snack with no problem bc there is seating. For non members there is a daily fee with re entry which was good to know. We got approximately 2 1/2 hours out of it before my toddler got tired. I will return!

Yelp
Cool for young children! Seems to be leaning more in the interactive kind of museum and not your typical huge one. The HEB is super cool and the bank. Also alot of learning stations
google avatar

Janet N.

Yelp
My kids love coming here. There are so much to do and it's hand on. They can learn about the weather, being a vet, grocery shopping, being a cashier, and many more. It is packed with stuff to do with many crafty things. I took one star away because there is no food court. They only sell water and apple juice. Also, the girl that was working in the cloud room area was not engaging whatsoever with the kids. We were standing there for a good five minutes with 2 other family talking about the clouds and what we needed to do and all she did was look at us and look back down and didn't even bother to help us. We all left to a different section.

Yelp
Saturday March 11th 3pm This is a hidden gem!!! For an adult and child they charged $30.. feel however you must about that price point. For the amount of attractions that are inside I think parking is minimal but maybe this isn't a huge attraction venue. There are tons of things for students and children of all ages to participate in. The variety was very impressive. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
The Tot Spot (for children 35 months and under) is great! And the rest of the museum is great too- lots of activities. It's not nearly as big as the main Children's Museum of Houston but it's a lot more convenient for those of us out in Fort Bend County Tip- it seems least crowded between noon and 2pm on weekdays. Closed Sun and Mon.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Enjoyed our time there. Not crowded and had many different activities for the kids. Staff were very nice.
google avatar

Amy A.

Yelp
Cute place to take the kids. A little pricey but you can get the membership. Lots of cute activities for them to do.
google avatar

Theresa N.

Yelp
The discovery center is great. They just opened the tot spot which is a huge plus for the little ones. It's an area just for under threes to explore. There are so many activities for new borns to toddlers. We love the slide and scarfs pipe!! I would suggest to anyone that lives in Sugarland to get the membership. It's so worth it. We go days when it too hot, too cold or wet! Also they have a great area for the older kids to play "grown" up! My kids favorite is restaurant:)

Yelp
loved our time at Fort Bend Children's Discovery center. Must have spent a good solid 3 hours here. Located at the old Imperial Sugar factory, it must have been reclaimed as part of the complex. There was plenty of parking on Thursday afternoon that I arrived. The exhibits included a Mexican village, where kids could get familiarized with the foods and the work of a cobbler. I enjoyed watching the mini-videos which allowed me to appreciate tortilla making. There were many crafts available, (i think we spent about an hour doing crafts.) Bank of America sponsors the town square center- which allows kids to try out different professions such as working at the bank, the diner, the police investigators, a school teacher and even vote on council member debates for kid initiatives. Each kid gets a "atm card" and could earn and deposite funds from "Working" at the different jobs. The ATM actually works! withdraw funds deposit cash or paycheck. The science area was quite interesting as well - with magnets and hands on exhibits. We had a great time and would say its a must for parents with kids to just kill some time. Parking is very limited on the weekends - we went back on a Saturday as well and it was completely full.
google avatar

Yelp
Never would have thought that the Old Imperial Sugar Factory housed such a cute Children's centers. I usually drive to the one downtown but now that I discovered this one, I will be bringing my kid here. It's a bit smaller but still has tones of learning activities for kids. I love how the kids city theme mimics the local business in air garland. My kids had a blast, there is so much to do. We were lucky enough to visit on Doggie Dancing Friday. There is a bunch of service and very trained doggies that perform and are sitting around just waiting to be pet. Absolutely loved it.

Yelp
Love this place! Great for kids of all ages! The place felt clean and well taken care of. 10 stars!

Yelp
We returned a second time to Fort Bend Discovery Center. I had filled out a feedback form last time I was there, and on the bottom they said they listened to their customers. My complaint was that one of the video learning games in Cyberchase would reset too early before my 5 year old was able to read the clues and give an answer. I suggested they adjust the timing. Sure enough, when we tested it out again, it did not reset too early! Kudos to the team at Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center that they did follow up on our feedback. I was real impressed! I also found that there were other activities that really garnered my children's attention. My 3-year old daughter loved doing the Gullah Holiday Woven Placemat craft. My son spent a lot of time playing with the magnetic widgets that allow you to create a path for a ball, and the cranking musical machine. Of course, a big factor is parent/family involvement. Hopefully that's a given. So I'm upping my review and will be coming back regularly, especially since I bought a annual membership.

Yelp
I have taken my kids to the children's museum in the Museum District several times so I was excited to take them to this one in SugarLand blindly thinking it would be lots to do and see. This center is SMALL compared to the one located on Binz. I had to literally ask an employee "Is this it?" Its like a quarter of the size with basically the same exhibits as the one on Binz. Was disappointed we drove all the way out there for nothing!

Jocelyn D.

Yelp
My daughter really enjoyed this place. It had all the things a preschooler could want such as pretend grocery shopping, cafe, and even an ambulance so she can pretend to be a medic. There's different art stations thru out so your child can do an activity. Some things aren't available because of Covid but they are still allowing the kids to do art activities and mask wearing is still a must!!
google avatar

Caitlin K.

Yelp
Had a great time! Perfect size for young children. Lots to see and do, but not so much that they get overwhelmed. The kids really enjoyed cooking and serving people in the diner, playing in the police car and ambulance and shopping at the little H‑E‑B for groceries.
google avatar

Maya D.

Yelp
This is an amazing children's museum! There is so much to do that I don't even think we made it through it all before we left. Took kids ages 3, 5, & 7 here for a play date. They had a great time doing so many hands on activities in the different rooms and playing in the pretend city area. It is really the cutest little thing I've ever seen! A pet store, HEB grocery store, wells fargo bank... Awesome place to take the kiddos!

Yelp
Ugh, I hate that I already have to update my review to lower the rating, but I do. I shouldn't have written that review after just one visit, because the last two have been less than steller. Again, this is just in reference to the "tot spot". The last two times we have gone, it's been an absolute disaster. I'm not faulting the workers at all, but moreso the parents! There are so many inconsiderate ones that sit in the corner on their phones or like yesterday, form a circle and then just chat while their kids are running around almost running over little ones. I'm pretty certain a few of the kids yesterday were older than 36 months. One looked like he could have been 6 years old. I also don't think the parents are putting dirty toys in the appropriate basket for dirty toys because there were toys EVERYWHERE, but those baskets were empty. This place will only be as good as we keep up with it. The workers can't do everything. There were quite a few toys missing, but I'm pretty sure it's because the workers were getting them cleaned. A suggestion to the FB Discovery Center is to maybe have some kind of system in place where parents can be held accountable. I hate to say this, but maybe someone patrolling the Tot Spot area (they have a person, but they're basically in charge of the door). This can be an amazing place, but despite having a membership, I almost don't want to bring my kids here anymore. It's annoying having kids steal toys from them, while their parents aren't paying any attention to what their kids are doing. It's also stressful watching our kids play with toys that we aren't sure are clean or not because parents aren't doing their job of putting the dirty toys away. Parents, please respect this space. Little tots don't have many play areas where they can just roam free, and this space is getting ruined by those of you sneaking in your older kids and not paying attention to what your kids are doing.

Yelp
Always fun with the grandkids here! My 2 1/2 yr old today living the diner. Not crowded on a week day!
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
This place is really fun for the kids! We liked this place because our kids is finally off from the iPad and actually doing something! Everything here in this place has a history and I'm just happy that they reuse this historical place for something so meaningful for the next generation! I hope we have more places like this in Houston for the kids to enjoy! #realtoredwardwang

Yelp
We received a museum membership as a gift and have loved coming to visit this location. I have been several times and have always found it tidy, clean, and well-maintained. Yes, it's definitely not as big as the one in Houston, but it's still a nice museum all the same. Clearly other people feel the same way because it's always packed and busy. I can see how older kids would get bored here quickly, though. Sometimes they do a free gift or treat at the start of the month for their members- a nice gesture and an extra incentive to visit. Parking can be a hassle but it's not that bad compared to the struggle of parking at the other location.
google avatar

Lyla A.

Yelp
An awesome children's museum option when you don't want to brave the crowds, pay for parking, or drive all the way down to the Houston one. I think this hidden gem has it all! Whenever we visit Houston we come to this museum. This week my kids liked it so much we went back to back days. The staff is kind and very attentive. The hands on experiment lady was very knowledgeable and overall an excellent museum!
google avatar

Kaci L.

Yelp
I was looking for something to do with my girls since we've been cooped up in a hotel due to Hurricane Ida. I was looking for something that was open at 4:42p. I came across the museum on Yelp and just my luck they didn't cqlose until 6p. Jonathan checked my family and I in. He was a very pleasant and cheerful person to interact with. There was a lot of stuff for my 3 and 2 year old to do. My kids enjoyed serving me and their dad food at the diner and making groceries at the H.E.B. They also liked creating a boomerang in the imagination station/section. It was roughly $48 for a family of 5. There are sanitizing dispensers throughout the museum and the staff are constantly cleaning used toys. I really liked the cleaning protocol that they have in place. My kids had a great time!
google avatar

Allyson W.

Yelp
Loved visiting here! It is just like the Children's Museum in Houston but downsized. They have a science section, grocery store, bank, restaurant, etc. You could spent the whole day here exploring! I did think it was a little pricey though $12 per person. Didn't see the toddler section until we were leaving which was a huge bummer since we had a one year old! It opens at 10:00 which I think is late for kids. We got there right at 10:00 and it wasn't crowded yet. By 12:00 it was getting crowded and having to move around all the people was getting hard.
google avatar

Yelp
My hope is that this place will grow and provide a small cafe or picnic area for families to have lunch. It is a great place to spend a couple hours but not if you expect to feed your kids on sight. I'm a nanny and I generally pack my kid's lunch but there not even a picnic table for eating. There is a bench in front by the door and that is where we sat so he could have lunch.

Marie M.

Yelp
My son loves this place. Very interactive. Reasonably priced and even better when they have a Groupon. A great spot especially on a rainy day. Highly recommend

Jessie B.

Yelp
This place is ridiculous. I remember when kids could just be kids. Take your kids and money somewhere else.

Yelp
We are members and absolutely love the museum. I almost hesitate to write this review because it's such a hidden gem in sugar land and part of the appeal is that it's not crowded, like the main Houston children's museum. Many of the exhibits are similar to the Houston children's museum so you are getting the same quality but it's substantially and remarkably less crowded making the experience much more enjoyable. My kids can really spend time with the different activities and I feel like they are really learning while having fun, because they can sit and get into what they are doing. Because of the affordable price of membership, we can pop in and stay a few hours and not feel like we've "wasted" entrance fee. Also, our membership works for the museum district location, which is appealing because there are some different exhibits to experience. Perfect for hot summer afternoons or an early morning activity. Also their Christmas and Halloween parties are really fun and have become a family tradition for us. Big thumbs up! We love this museum and being members.

Brittanye L.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this childrens museum! Great location for fort bend, so many fun activities for the kids, their team is constantly cleaning and sanitizing. And thankfully they still have a mask mandate - there aren't many places I feel safe taking my unvaccinated 2yr old, but this place makes me feel safe!!! Love love love!!!
google avatar

Lizz F.

Yelp
For the price, this place was very, very, very small and there were a few bagged snacks for sale, but nothing for lunch. I think next time we'll check out the bigger location. The kids we came with most enjoyed the golf ball runs and the baby enjoyed the tot spot ball pit.
google avatar

Nicki S.

Yelp
I'll start with this, I'm a big fan of the main children's museum in the museum district. We spend almost all day when we go, there's so much to do. The Sugar Land location is seriously lacking. It has maybe a third of the activities. We were done in less than two hours. It's clean, quiet after the school kids leave at lunch time. But it should not be priced the same as the main location. Just two buses of kids showed up and it filled the place fast. It's so small they just have snacks to purchase, unlike the main location with a cafe. And it's annoying that you have to walk all the way back to the front to use the restroom or get a sip of water. The building isn't huge, but it's rather inconvenient. They have a tot spot (36 months and younger), a cultural exploration area, Cyber Chase, a science section and Kidtropolis. This location is geared more towards elementary age kids. I wouldn't come here unless you have a membership (good for both locations) or have a Groupon. And unless you live on this side of Houston, I think the Woodlands Children's Museum is a better option for the 3-6 year old crowd. No spots to picnic. You can eat along the sidewalk or there are some benches facing hwy 90. Hopefully that'll improve when they finish building the new shopping center next to it. Honestly can't say I would come back again. I live equal distance from the museum district, woodlands and this one. I'd go to one of the others first.

Yelp
Super cute little museum for young, impressionable minds. They have everything here, including a mock grocery store, bank, car repair shop, news center, restaurant, hospital, animal clinic, rock climbing wall and so much more. It's a great place for younger kids. There does not seem to be a lot for older kids though. So, find somewhere else to take them for entertainment. This is very similar to the Children's Museum in Houston but not nearly as big.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Great spot for the kiddos. I was really surprised on all the stuff they had for kids...and even us parents. I think it's worth a visit. I plan on getting the membership. Did I mention my 4 yr old loved it!! lol
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Parking sucks on Saturday bc of the farmers market on Saturday's. Luckily I was smart enough to come before the museum opened (10am) but early enough to find good parking and browse the farmers market first. I paid $13 for me and my 20 month old for entrance. Featured exhibit was Vietnam, which was pleasantly surprising bc I'm Vietnamese myself. My 20 month old spent a good while in that exhibit before I forced her to go play in the toddler area next to it. She loved it! She didn't want to leave the area. I made her go check out the science and math area (so cute!) and then we made a quick round through the Mercedes benz car shop, Wells Fargo bank, another time soda fountain cafe (repping the cafe in downtown Rosenberg), & some other exhibits she was too young to understand and we stopped and played at the heb market. I've been to the Houston children's museum a few times and i honestly think this is a good representation, albeit smaller one. There's no outside part yet. All indoors. It's much less crowded so we were able to enjoy it more. Plenty to do. We were there for a couple hours before we left bc we got super hungry and my toddler needed her nap. Definitely taking her back!

Yelp
Living in Katy, driving all the way to the museum district can be a hassle. So naturally we were glad there was going to be a closer Children's Museum which our son loves. While it is nowhere near as big as the main Children's Museum, it is more than big enough for our son to play the whole morning. As to be expected, everything is brand new and nice. Parking is free. Even though it's summer now, we went on a Wednesday morning and it wasn't that crowded. There were just enough kids (and parents) to make this place look lively but not too much that it prevented us from enjoying the activities.

Yelp
This is a new and fun plane for kids! Definitely recommend. Spent almost two hours here.

Yelp
This place has a lot of really great things for the kiddos. We especially loved the science areas. It's also nice to have a separate toddler area as well. I was disappointed there isn't a picnic area or cafe to have snacks or eat lunch. Also the price is $12 a person for anyone who is older than 1, which I think is a little pricey. $48 for a family of 4 is a lot of money to spend for a few hours of play. One suggestion I'll give is come after noon. We got there right at 10, and the place was super busy but seemed to clear out right at lunchtime.

Yelp
Great place to spend the day with kids. They have plenty of staff on hand to help with the activities. The different exhibitions were always well kept and easy to navigate. Overall my kiddos had a blast. I can't wait until they open the outside activities which I think will happen 2018. FYI- parking is free, they don't have a cafeteria but I did see water and juices for sale. Make sure you eat before you come

Yelp
the location is good instead of driving all the way out. for it being new it is clean and the workers we encountered are friendly. it is much smaller than the children's museum of Houston. but it does have similar stations at the children's museum and the tot spot for 35 months and under. we like it because it is not as crowded. hopefully they expand it.
