"From the same team behind The Miranda and Drexl, Fort Green is a jazzed up sports bar in an art deco building in Old Oakland. Choose from retro cocktails, boozy slushies, beers by the bucket, wine, and Ferraris on tap, alongside snacks or pizza. If you’re actually not so into watching the game, Fort Green also supplies shuffle board, Hoop Fever, and board games." - Janelle Bitker

Came here after work for food and drinks. The beer selection was nice. Ordered the Terrifico lager though I was tempted by the cocktails. I was getting tacos and it was a hot day so beer and tacos seemed to be a good call. They have indoor and outdoor seating though they only have fans so it can get hot in here. You can get Mexican food at the pop up Xingones but have to pay separately.

Google
Nice place for lunch. The food was amazing!

Google
I love eating there I just wish they would not make Moscow Mules in glasses as they are supposed to be made in Copper cups although I'm a huge fan of theirs I do think they can make their cocktails stronger and take note from their sister bar the Miranda

David Teague

Google
This is the dankest little bar and grill definitely support Best buy has some of the best chicken and waffle I've had in years and they make the drink strong so definitely come in and may cost an extra Buck but it's definitely worth it

Shawn Walker-Smith

Google
Neighborhood sports bar with ample screens and Xingones serving up some of the best bar food! The Xingones Fries are great, the Wings are fantastic, but the Chicken And Waffles are OUTSTANDING. Come for the drinks but STAY FOR THE XINGONES!!

Doctor “Dr. PROFESSOR” PROFESSOR

Google
Fort Green is a great neighborhood sports bar to relax and watch a game , and the attached restaurant Xingones has amazing tacos!

Delicious food. Seasoned well. The Best Strawberry Margarita I’ve ever had. My grand daughter ate her whole plate

First time here. Came because if reviews. Hella cool vibe. Super sweet staff from door men to hostess to bartender. Thanks . Def will be back. Also the fried chicken and waffles and loaded fries with black beans all superb. Can yall make elite? Cause if you did I would be here alll the darn time. Thanks guys. 😊

Veronica J.

Yelp
The picadillo Xingones nachos were delicious!!! Service was pretty quick for the crowd that was there.

Mahogany S.

Yelp
It's an ok place, i watch it change a couple of times. They added more food to their menu. One time i tried their burrito an it was not good. Their wings and fries are just ok. The bar part is about the best.

Andrew M.

Yelp
The daytime bartender with the sweet singing voice and yummy drinks, she's always friendly and interesting. The food is also amazing!! The $4 beer choices leads me to believe the manager/owner "gets it." Thank you for making it reasonable to drink at your bar.

Linda N.

Yelp
Great vibes, great energy. Fort Green is perfect to watch a game and grab a quick drink and chill with the homies. The location is close to nearby restaurants and other bars so huge plus. There's also food and wait for it, fernet. IYKYK.

Antonio P.

Yelp
This meal was decent. Nothing to write home about but what I needed. I usually get the tacos from here because they never miss. I'll stick with the tacos. The bar wasn't packed and it is a great place to watch sports games. Oh and don't try the macaroni salad.

Queen B.

Yelp
The first time I ate here...... chefs kiss. The fried chicken burrito. Muahhhhhjj. This time..... whole heartedly disappointed. The chicken and waffles were not up to par and what was advertised on the picture. We ordered online so couldn't make modifications. But if I knew I would get a dog on drumstick and oversized breast and two frozen waffles.... I would have passed. This meal was not good at all! Everyone and their momma knows you serve wings with waffles and restaurant quality waffles. I get better chicken and waffles from the hood store on market street and 30th street. I legit want my $13 back.

Mamie D.

Yelp
If you're coming here for food, don't! It was gross. Otherwise if you just looking for a spot to watch the game or have drinks and chill, then it was okay enough to do that.

Darius W.

Yelp
Oakland, you got one right here! Whoa! I would happily eat fried chicken and waffles despite my gluten intolerance. Wait, eat responsibly! Also, eat well! When I tell you the fried food (chicken and catfish) was crispy, light, and well-seasoned, I mean no grease spots soaking through the paper bag, no need to absorb grease with a napkin, and no full bits of just fried skin (no meat). In other words, I found myself cleaning the bone. That's the Texas in me. I'm talking finger-licking good and "maybe you should get your own, I'm not sharing" good! The waffles were so fluffy that I wish the portions were larger. I may have cheated a bit but boy was it worth it! Shout-outs to the brother who worked the door! First, for his locs and next, for his recommendation to get that catfish sandwich!

Chenay K.

Yelp
Under new ownership, there still learning the ropes but good drinks. Service is a bit slow but I think with time they will get better.

GiGi W.

Yelp
Justine is the truth! top notch bar tender & so thrilled she was working when I had a 12-hour layover at SFO & spent the day exploring the East Bay. The bar is divvy (no frills) but overall has a chill atmosphere. Lots of tv's blasting sports for fans--it was a Sunday around happy hour when my friend and I went. It was a bit crowded but we were able to find seating quickly enough. The margaritas Justine whipped up were great! Yummy and strong, but without tasting the alcohol. We went for drinks only & overall had a good time!

Jessie G.

Yelp
Today the universe brought me to Fort Green. Local pub for locals...however we were welcomed immediately and it felt like my own place in a couple of hours. Usually I find if you're cool they're cool back...so be cool! Great prices and the service is outstanding. Carlos is the man. Great bar. In fact. I love this bar.

Will P.

Yelp
I visit Fort Green often. Every time I think of the place the theme song from Cheers starts playing in my head. If you've ever seen the show Cheers you'll get a similar vibe from the usual jug-head greasers that hangout there. The food is fun and junky, the staff are fun and loose, the place is spacious and clean and the prices are fair. Fort Green is a great place for friends to meet and catch a game. The crowds on game days are amazing and I recommend you make a visit.

Troy J.

Yelp
When you talk about a place that combines good food, good people and good vibes this is it!! Chicken and waffles, their steak fries, chicken sandwiches, tacos, etc. Their food doesn't miss!! Shits always hot and sizzling when it's served to you, and they're quick with it. They have nice brick walls, dark green paint textures, plants, sports memorabilia highlight the bay area legends and greats, and they have a mini hoop in the back with a shuffleboard table. Outdoor dining is a plus too on really warm summer days The drinks and bartenders are all really great and friendly too. The staff are great at paying attention to your table. Grabbing empty plates, and wiping down tables is something they don't hesitate to do, and they move quickly and efficiently. I take all my friends and family here any chance I get, and now it's our favorite place to link up for food and drinks. This is really my spot fr

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise. Decided to go to Swans Market on Saturday but being a little crowded we ended up going around the corner to Fort Green as well as the adjacent restaurant which is pretty good. The bartender is really cool, kept a warm atmosphere, and knew his drinks well! I ordered one of their specialty drinks and a Miller High Life. They have a pretty good beer selection and a full bar. They even have canned drinks to go. This was my first time here and I'll be back. It was nice to sit at the parklet outside on such a beautiful day.

B. M.

Yelp
Bartender today with the A+ shag haircut was super kind. Came in to eat at the restaurant with a disruptive toddler (not mine) and also got drinks from the bar. Staff from both businesses were super understanding and kind as we kind of made a mess. Thank you guys for making my family feel so cozy. Great service all around.

Joseph T.

Yelp
Whoa! 34.00 for two Tito martinis. Before tip. Overpriced. Been here before and don't recall the high priced drinks.

James H.

Yelp
Wing Wednesday is a good deal at $1 wing. Buffalo and bbq were the ones I liked. They have another but I forget the flavor. Some wings were a lot smaler than others but can't complain for a buck. Nachos were good but wish there were more chips on top instead all buried on bottom. Fries/onion rings were aright. Service was really good and we got checked up upon frequently.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Hubbers and I made a stop here prior to a house party to wind down from a busy work day. Not packed for an early NYE gathering, but it was early (a little after 6pm-ish.) We walked in and I immediately felt comfortable. There were plenty of seats open at the bar so ordering drinks was a breeze. Bartenders were friendly and accommodating. They truly know how to connect with their customers. Our stay was pretty calm, but mingling with customers and bartenders alike was a lot of fun! Hubbers and I even got a few games of pop-a-shot in. (Yeah, they have that. As well as a shuffleboard.) A great discovery. Might check out their HH menu next time around.

Nina P.

Yelp
Pretty cool sports bar I happened upon this evening. The food was pretty good and the drinks were amazing! We ordered three tacos, chicken shrimp and fish. Fried chicken and waffles!

Justin E.

Yelp
I would definitely come back to fort green. Everybody was very kind here, including the bar tender. I love the atmosphere of this place, and the drinks are amazing!

Olivia O.

Yelp
This place is so good. Their service is on it and they do their best to make the experience chill and happy. Although Fort Green does not serve food, no worries; Xingones is in the same location and will serve you delicious food. If you're in the area, stop by. You will feel at home.

Jen L.

Yelp
Fancy cocktails, vintage feel AND big TVs so others can watch the sports ball? Yes! We stopped in for the tacos at Xingones and also had drinks. My friends opted for the specialty cocktails and one was loved and the other was more meh. I decided to get my usual, an old fashioned. The bartender made it with tender care... and it wasn't a standard old fashioned but it was tasty nonetheless. Great atmosphere. Cozy space.

Denise C.

Yelp
Fort Green is a bar in Oakland that has a unique variety of items on its drink list. They offer some food as well with bar bites. There was an event for a local sports club for post-college people. They had drinks and some food like tacos and wings and chips. It was pretty good. The drinks were good. I sampled the red rye beer, rose, and had a ginger beer at the end. I had "mocktails" to start that were super good and fun. Thanks to the bartender for making most of the drinks at this event. Here's to local organizations for club sports.

Yelp
What a great new addition to the Old Oakland area! I am loving everything about Fort Green! I stopped here for a nightcap after leaving some friends at District. I wasn't ready to call it a night yet, so I decided to check out Fort Green since it was right down the street and had been one of my recent bookmarks. I walked in and instantly fell in love with the vibe. This place is super chill and there wasn't a lot of people crowding the bar! They also play a variety of great music. I was bobbing my head back and forth for most of the night. This is definitely the place to go for a nice escape from all of the craziness. I sat down at the bar and was greeted by a beautiful Asian bartender (I didn't get her name). The menu was small but also had a lot of great tasting specialty cocktails. I was in the mood for something fruity, so I decided to try the Luau at the Fort which had coconut spiced rum, orange liqueur, lemon and pineapple. Yummy! It was very tropical but not too sweet. My sweet tooth was kicking in, so I asked the bartender if they were still serving the cookie sandos. She said that they were able to make the peanut butter cookie sando for me which was perfect because this was the one that I wanted. I don't usually eat peanut butter cookies, but this sando was awesome sauce! I could tell that the cookies were fresh by how warm they were and by how quickly the ice cream started to melt on them. The vanilla ice cream, banana, and peanut butter cookie combo was perfect! I loved every minute of it and scarfed it down with pure enjoyment. I struck up a nice long conversation with another bar patron and Daniel, the other bartender who was working that night. A few more folks came in, but nothing overwhelming. This bar also has a nice shuffleboard table for those of you who enjoy playing games. Daniel hooked us up with a shot of whiskey and even took one himself. I haven't tried the food here yet, but the chef came out and also had a drink with us which I thought was super dope! I really love how relaxed the atmosphere is here. For my first go round, I had an excellent time and will definitely be coming back again soon.

Richard R.

Yelp
Nice sports bar that feels homie. Good drinks. Good food. Diverse crowd. Usually can find a game on that you want to watch. Like going on Mondays or the middle of the week. The head bartender Grace is always on point and is getting the place humming along. If you go, say hello. The bar has a pretty wide selection of spirits to choose from which is always good. The food is standard bar fair but the cooks in the back are on point. So everything is tasty. Done a few bar crawls thorough this place also. Fun times.

Tierren A.

Yelp
Very cute. Lots of tvs to watch whatever is on. Good food Good drinks. Great location.

Shawn W.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this place has changed for the worst. I've been coming here since it was Go back in 2010. The best things here now are the really good Mexican food pop up (Xingones) and the amazing barkeep, Kat. Everything else has taken a downhill slide. The biggest red flag is that they refuse to turn on the audio for any sports games they put on the TV, and then act like they're going to do it, but don't. Shady. And weird. It's advertised on Google as "an elevated sports bar" but they get people there showing up to watch a game, and you refuse to put on the audio for it? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll change my review and rating if things improve, but until then, this is not exactly a friendly place to watch a sports event. It pains me to say it, but there are better places to go.

K M.

Yelp
Fort Green is awesome. They recently set up a clean and cozy outdoor space for COVID-safe drinking and dining. Service is quick and casual: you enter in one door after a temperature check from the door staff, get drinks at the bar and/or food at the kitchen window, then exit out the side door to the seating area. Masks are obviously required inside but once you're outside the tables are appropriately distanced so you can safely eat and drink. As soon as you leave a staff member will appear to disinfect your seating area for the next guest. The staff is like a big family, they treat the guests as warmly as the heat lamps. Casual atmosphere, and they reduce any COVID related anxiety by following the safety guides. Drinks: Full bar, beer and wine. Great selection. There is a well curated cocktail program with nuanced batch-cocktails. These come in double-serving bottles and a glass of ice so you really get a great value. If you're interested in expanding your cocktail palette, definitely give these a try and don't be intimidated by the many ingredients listed on the menu board. The bar tenders are experts and will never steer you wrong. Food: The eats are by a great in-house small business called Xingones. I've tried everything on the menu and it's all perfect. The fried chicken sandwich and grilled chicken Caesar are my go-to's, they sound simple enough but they are tasty af. They also serve up the best pub style food in Oakland: fries, nachos, flautas, bacon wrapped hot dogs, and fried fish sandwiches. If you're not drinking check them out for take out.

Mariana D.

Yelp
Buffalo wings are good But Annnnnd their drinks were watery during the playoff game! Maybe it's because hey we're running out of drinks, or taking advantage of the great crowd but I wasn't really pleased with the quality of drinks. Need to give it another try

Melanie H.

Yelp
Chill atmosphere and a great draft list. Husband and I each had a pint and sat outside in the parklet with our toddler. Everyone was friendly and warm. Would come back next time we're back in Oakland.

Yelp
REVIEWER # 22 I had an event at Fort Green two Thursdays ago, and everyone is STILL talking about how much fun they had! THANK YOU FORT GREEN! When I heard that the owners of The Miranda and Drexl Bar had opened up a sports bar in Oakland, I was thrilled! If you haven't been to neither of their locations, you are TRULY missing out! Miranda review: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-miranda-oakland?hrid=kaVlke4XvP9v94iSGSzUQQ&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) Fort Green is a fabulous addition to the Oakland area! Formerly known as the 'Go Sports Bar', the new owners have jazzed up the location and it looks bigger and better! I decided to do a Meetup Group event here so I wouldn't have to sit solo at the bar (although the bartenders are super nice and I would have had no problems). It was the fact that I wanted to share my happy hour with company and I did! March 30th my group and I (total of 42 people) came and took over the bar. I was in continuous contact with one of the owners (Nathan Johnson) that made this all possible. BIG THANK YOU! Nathan was nice enough to give me the whole back area of the bar for my group and it was such a great idea! The owners have revamped the spot, making the bar area much bigger and (nicer) as well as offers many TV's. Perfect for watching the game, fellas! Looking for a cute sports bar to chill with amazing people, good stiff drinks and tasty food? Well, you must come here! Those wings are DELICIOUS!!! Wheww! OMG, I am surprised to hear people complain about them because my group was messin' those wings up! Need I say more? (Please, just go try them for yourself). The bartenders are UH-MAZ-ING! When I spoke to the owner and asked for our own bartender, he replied, "Will staff accordingly". I thought to myself, "Uh oh, that doesn't sound like a yes" but I ended up having the general manager serve my group the whole night as well as a lovely staff named Kat! They were phenomenal and handled the big group very well! Thank you!! Did I mention those stiff drinks? Oh lord! Yes! Did I really think I was driving home that night? HAHA! Nope! Those drinks made it IMPOSSIBLE! My favorite? Summer's Over for the win, people! Yesss! Those drinks are everything. Take my advice and thank me later. (Smiles) I am crushin' on this new bar and I must admit, I see a lot of cuties walking in here after work (wink-wink). I may need to become a regular! Only time will tell. Thank you, Fort Green and BIG thank you to the owner, Nathan, for making this possible! I shall return!

Nancy L.

Yelp
Good spot for drinking beer and watching games because they have two large TV's inside. Food and service wise, not the best. Ordered a basic burger and a fried chicken sandwich with my friend and the buns were underdressed and quite dry. There was barely any vegetables on the actual sandwich so I ended up having to add more condiments to it. A side of fries or tots is $3 and the portion is ridiculous (four tots to an order and maybe 8-10 fries in total). Price wise, the sandwiches were $10 so I don't think it's the best, but everything around Old Oakland is usually around the same. They have plenty of draft beers on tap at $6 a glass or $20 a pitcher. I don't think I'll be visiting this place anytime soon, but wouldn't mind coming here to toss back a few beers and watch a game or two.

Tom B.

Yelp
A cozy bar with a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are friendly and prompt in service. There are large screen TVs with sports streaming. Drinks are good and they have specialty cocktails. They have a food menu too. A good place to meet a friend for an after work drink.

Victor G.

Yelp
Fort Green takes over the GO sports bar spot. didn't notice HH notice. 6 drafts, including coors light. bud available in a can. small menu of edibles. brew: belgian style wheat w/corriander and orange (6) 5ish alc. -slightly hoppy, no bold taste fieldworks ipa (6) -average brew... eats: wings (5/$9) -skin very crunchy. midjoint small, not much meat, not noisy. skin sweetened by glaze. on draught:- -only attractiion is the flatscreens showing sports -drink and food not worthy -did not try cocktail -didn't get change back until i asked bartender for it. handed it over without saying anything. -no possible return.

Jason L.

Yelp
Formerly known as the Go Sports Bar, the new owners have spruced up the place, revamped the bar and seating areas, along with the menu. Small bites, signature cocktails and a few craft beers and bottled beers were available. The bar area flooring slopes up gradually and can throw you off if you're standing on the slope and drinking. The bar tender... rude and poor customer service. The bar wasn't busy, my coworker asked if she can order a few more drinks, bar tender responds by "can you see I'm having a conversation here?" And proceeds to ignore her even though it was her card with an open tab. He came off with an "I'm too good to be here and serve your group" kind of attitude. We had a coworker who bartends at night at a different bar and she was blown away with this guy's attitude. Will I be back? Probably because it's next to the office... let's just hope there's better customer service next time around.

Dorian T.

Yelp
Great place they share a spot with Xingones. Good tacos I had the asada, carnitas, and pescado. The fish is grilled not fried just a heads up. Good beer selection and apparently black owned business. Outdoor seating available!

Bryan M.

Yelp
Stopped in here with some coworkers last night. We used to frequent Go Bar before they closed so were interested in checking these guys out now that they were open. The inside is definitely a lot nicer / cleaner. Seating is about the same, but they've added some nice booth seats and revamped the bar and TVs! The food menu is a bit sparse but they did say they're expanding that. We tried out the wings, fried potato bread and baked potatoes. All were excellent so I'm sure the menu will be even better once they add in some additional options Drinks were good, pricing reasonable and they had a good selection of on tap beers. Look forward to many more visits with the warriors season in full swing

Myles L.

Yelp
We found what we were looking for: lunch, good beer, and outdoor seating. It was the southernmost point on a pub crawl which then proceeded up Telegraph.

Bobby C.

Yelp
Often understaffed, especially during nights when sporting events are on. Staff are very friendly--albeit, seemingly overwhelmed--and the drinks are well-priced (and the special is great!). Food and drinks are served by separate companies/restaurants.

Kaley B.

Yelp
This place continues to deliver efficient and very friendly service... and great drinks! This is the spot for homegrown sports love and lots of libations! I love the New Belgium on tap, it's very similar to Guinness. I will continue to return for future Bay Area sports games to enjoy their large tv's all over the bar!

Roberto K.

Yelp
Yoooo!!! The drinks here are too dank!!! Started with the picaflor and whoo!! Haha ended up with the soundscape booty and you just cant go wrong! Too good. Pricey but tbh after the 2nd one idcccc! Haha. Cheers.

DAMEN C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place food is very delicious and affordable always a good time talking to the bartenders and waitresses and doesn't hurt that I work real close by and can always duck off real quick for a drink and get caught up on the scores of any game

Kevin B.

Yelp
A nice spot to have a drink & watch sports in Old Oakland. It's clean, spacious & they have nice flat screen TV's. I also like how they play the sound to big sporting events too ! However, I remember the food being better a few years ago. They can definitely be more creative with their menu. Also the night I went, there was a female bartender that was not very friendly. It was packed due to the Warrior game but she was board line rude to many costumers trying to order drinks. Overall, it's a cool spot for a drink & to watch a game.

Deborah A.

Yelp
Went to eat here today after extensive Yelp hunt. My friend and I chose fort green. I ordered chicken and waffles with a side of French fries. I wasn't sure at the time of eating my food, but I suspected both the waffle and the chicken was semi undercooked. But I was starving so I hoped for the best. Shortly after eating the food my stomach began hurting badly, and I spent the rest of the evening throwing up. I would not recommend eating here.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
I've been to Fort Green a few times now and I really like it here. I do miss GO, but Fort Green is a nice upgrade. The Fried Potato Bread and the wings are my go-to food items. They also have a good HH and it's a good place to watch sports ball. The bartender, Tina, is great! She's really great at making cocktails based off of my preferences. They have brunch now, but I have yet to try it. From the photos I've seen, it looks pretty good.

Sharaerae S.

Yelp
So I just recently threw a 30th birthday party at fort Green. I found the place on www.peerspace.com and I chose 3 venues on the website. Turns out that the managers of Fort Green owned the other 2 places I liked! Goes to show the quality of the venues they own. Before deciding to use their venue, I went to eat lunch there with my mom. The food was awesome! The salad with fennel dressing was so good and my burger and fries were delicious. During the party we had 2 types of pizza, sliders, salad, mozzarella and tomato skewers, and wings. My guests DESTROYED the food table. The wings were delicious, the sliders were awesome and overall everything was well made. The bar is also just an overall cool bar. For my 1920s themed party, the venue worked out great. My guests were raving about the venue and how much they loved it. the bartenders were so amazing the entire night. My guests fell in love with them and their patience, their humor, and friendliness. Also, the drink menu is delicious! Overall my party was a hit! My guests loved the venue, the food, the ambiance and I had a few other special activities and decor that definitely helped. I would recommend Fort Green to anyone just for drinks or a lunch, as well as a special event.

Yelp
This place is not a good replacement for Go Sports Bar. Everything from the crowd, to being conducive to watching games, to the food and drinks has gone downhill. Food and drink: the menu is very limited here, and if you want classics, too bad for you. I'm not impressed by their specialty cocktails of which there are only 6. The food is extremely try-hard, full of ish that makes you mad they couldn't just do it the right way - pickled mushrooms? Brown sugar ketchup? Fried Potato bread instead of flatbread? the only thing I've liked was the wings. Even the fries are bad. They're dry like In N Out with a dusting of "paprika salt" and they effed up the ketchup. I don't know why people try to remix ketchup, it has never worked IMO Crowd/sports: if you knew Go Bar, you know it was real chill bar for people from the area who care about the local teams - the atmosphere was always lit for big games - not the "new Oakland" that's just riding the wave. Unfortunately the crowd has gone the way of just being a spot for all the newly monied residents. I also don't like how they set up the tables and bar, it lost the feel of being set up primarily for a sports viewing experience. This is kinda a last resort spot now In my opinion.

J Evan M.

Yelp
Umm whomever Mikey is that just told my friends and I that he could not serve us because of our "demeanor" needs to check himself. How dare he assume we were drunk at all to say that we could not be served. To ask where we are coming from is not only disrespectful but borderline racist. This doctor will not ever spend his money where he is refused service and asked "where are you guys coming from?!?!?" #deplorable So we went to the District across the street where we don't have to worry about where we were before we got there let alone who we are as a people. #DoBetter.

Tommy G.

Yelp
Cheeseburger was very lackluster, definitely not worth the 30+ minute wait. 2 stars because the servers were nice and apologetic. *edited for specifics

Paul H.

Yelp
An 'OK' spot for checking out sports games. This location was previously another sports bar, don't recall the name, which had great food and atmosphere. New owners took over, rebranded the place and gave it a new name. Food wise, somewhat tasty with small portions.
