On the Grid : Industry City Distillery

"An experimental distillery specializing in creating craft spirits through science. They produce their Industry Standard Vodka distilled from beets on specially designed and handmade machines. They offer tours, tastings, and special events in their top-floor space with spectacular views of lower Manhattan. Surrounded by the machines themselves, you get a feel for the process even while not on a tour. Not only does the distillery produce delicious beet sugar vodka, they also have a laboratory, a machine shop, and a letterpress studio that they use. While at the distillery you really get a sense that the people who work there are passionate about their jobs. Be sure to try the vodka and if you are taking a tour to book a reservation online as they do fill up!" - Amanda DeRosa & Alexandra Marino

I came for the free comedy show, amazed by the drink menu and great service, a few laughs and excellent drinks, perfect combo! I came for happy hour, 5–6 p.m.. I had the spicy cucumber margarita and a (vodka) French 75, and while they are known for their Whisky and Gin, these tequila and vodka drinks were also on point. I left to get some food, because there’s so many options in industry city for food. I came back for the comedy show ordered the classic Gimlet this time, kept the Gin and excellent again. The ladies at the bar, “Colorado & Georgia” respectfully, worked nicely as a team and were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The comedy was good, some better than others. It’s a monthly thing so I would definitely go back for the drinks and a few laughs. I also want to return to play pool.

Fort Hamilton Distillery is a must-visit! Amy and her team are incredibly welcoming, and the space is huge, perfect for any occasion. The spirits are made in-house, and you can really taste the craftsmanship in every bottle. Whether you’re bringing friends, a date, or just stopping by solo to mingle, you’ll have a great time. Highly recommend!

If you’re in Industry City and love whisky and gin, stop here. Their spirits are top quality, their intricate knowledge of how and why they create their products adds to the experience plus they’re fun people!

I visited Fort Hamilton Distillery for a Galentines date with my best friend and we had a great time. The tour guide was knowledgeable and walked us through the entire process of making whiskey. The best part of the tour was when we were able to package our own bottle of whiskey and had the chance to purchase it. The tasting was fun and we even had the chance to sample maple syrup which was also available for purchase. Definitely recommend visiting Fort Hamilton if you love whiskey or just want to learn about the history of whiskey making.

My visit to Fort Hamilton Distillery & Tasting Room was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the tone for an exceptional experience. The service was impeccable—every staff member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The highlight of my visit was the tasting experience. Our guide, a delightful woman from New Zealand, shared the fascinating history of the distillery and its craft. Her accent made the storytelling even more captivating, and I walked away with a newfound appreciation for rye whiskey, bourbon, and gin. The interactive aspect of the tasting was a standout feature. At the end, they offered the chance to fill your own bottle—a unique and memorable touch! I couldn’t resist and ended up bottling a single-barrel rye whiskey and purchasing a double-barrel bourbon to take home. Overall, Fort Hamilton Distillery offers a perfect mix of education, entertainment, and amazing spirits. Whether you’re a whiskey connoisseur or just curious about craft distilling, this is a must-visit spot. Highly recommend!

Google
Love it. Great site and location, great space for distilling while tasting, and wonderful staff. There's quiet, billiards, couches, bar, totally visible space "where the magic" happens - even though only gin is made on site for now. The owners were amazing, friendly, and willing to really talk about their process. As for the spirits, I'm not a gin drinker but their's is one of the best I've had. The whole whiskey line has something for everyone - even an old collector like me! - I suggest trying their seasonal offerings, especially if they have any of the 1 year finished Madeira cask left.

Google
Great tour. Very informative. We all laughed and learned a lot. Great experience. Recommend for a birthday experience. If you book a private tour, the birthday person gets to bottle their own whiskey to take home. Super cool.

Google
An awesome day at Fort Hamilton Distillery. The information of the product from our tour guide was concise, informative, and the flight tasting of the products were great! Love the location at industry city.

Yelp
We went for a whiskey tour there. It was very interesting and informative. The gin, syrup, and whiskey were great. I'd definitely go and spend time there again

Yelp
Place is small but cute. Located in industry city. I thoroughly enjoyed my cocktail. They make and use their own product which is really nice. The bourbon is smooth and nice on the palate. The service was good but the pours on both drinks were very un even. Even the prices were different. So, I'm not sure what to think of this. They have classes fri-Sunday which I'm super interested in. Overall really cool vibe and place. Fills up quickly though!

Yelp
Went with some friends to check out local businesses and this place was awesome! Incredible service, friendly staff, lots of space and most of all incredible drinks!!! my friends are I ended up staying for hours playing card games and laughing with staff. 10/10 would recommend anyone come try this place out!

Yelp
I came here for my friends birthday on a Saturday afternoon. There was some indoor and outdoor seating. I had a beer, but it seemed like mostly a cocktail place. Good drinks and the staff were friendly. I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
This feels like a secret hide out that's far enough away from the maddening crowds to avoid being too busy or impersonal, but also serves up high quality crafted spirits in local taste. The double barrel rye and gin are top of my list, and they have a great menu of cocktails to help you get inventive and flavorful with both of them. They also have a few nice mocktails for the no-alcohol crowd looking to keep things classy without the tipsy. I also love the hang out space with pool tables and big cozy sofa and papasan chair- just a nice overall hangout space to gather with friends.

Yelp
Late with this review, but better late than never! FHD was the location for my new employer's holiday party. They did not supply the food, but they supplied the libations, ambience and service. The drink menu is extensive and the bartenders were able to keep up and get orders out pretty quickly, while being pretty personable and fun. The distillery is pretty spacious with slightly sectioned off areas, which was very comfortable to say the least. I did not drink a lot (2 cocktails), because I just started working with this company plus I just don't overdo drinking at company functions, despite having a high tolerance for alcohol. Nonetheless, I had a Hamilton Mule, which was delicious. I would definitely revisit with friends or solo, just because I think it's a cool spot with good drinks and cool bartenders.

Yelp
My family and I had a fun time checking out this distillery, where we got to learn about the history and the making process of their delicious whiskey, which is distilled New York-style. It We ended up doing their tour, which consisted of fun facts, an awesome and yet informative tour guide, and best of all quality whiskey! They also have a little game room on the other side where you can chill and enjoy the vibes after your tour. You can also grab a drink or two at their bar. This is def a fun thing to do if you're looking to try something new.

Yelp
What a lovely little gem! We were in the area already grabbing last minute groceries for the holidays and decided to pop in on a whim. Our bartender was just a lovely soul- she seems to have this effortless grace and tact that all people that excel in the service industry seem to innately have. The drinks she whipped up were just delicious- I got their Bee's Knees and Italian Greyhound and, chef's kiss, it was just what I needed to kickstart Thanksgiving weekend. Will definitely be back, undoubtedly.

Yelp
GOTTA Love a local distillery and this one not only has awesome liquor, but a really great ambiance and cool staff with a lot of knowledge on their products with recommendations if you don't know where to start. The entrance is on the second level of Industry City so you can get in through the courtyard staircase. I love whiskey but they also had some gin which was quite aromatic and good for a summer cocktail. I got the Maple Syrup Old Fashioned which was just perfect. NOT sweet which was exactly what I wanted- just a HINT of maple. really delicious. There's a saloon right across the hall with pool tables and LOTs of other great local businesses in the area so you can come for drinks and food and fun! I'm a fan of Rye and theirs was good too so definitely worth going to for a few drinks on weekends or even weekdays!

Yelp
This is hands down one of the best places in Industry City. Alex and Amy are incredible people. The drinks are amazing. There is billiards in the room across the way (you can bring your drink). Nothing bad to say, highly suggest.

Yelp
Whiskey and gin distillery located inside Industry City on the second floor of building number six. Nice space with indoor and outdoor seating. There is an adjoining room with two small billiards tables. There is also a brewery next door and a bar directly below, so everyone should be able to find something they'd like nearby even if they're not whiskey or gin fans. Staff was laid back and welcome. Seemed prepared to answer any questions. I had a 1 oz pour of their Madeira cask rye. I'm not a whiskey expert, but I can confirm the whiskey was very aromatic and had some bold flavors which packed a lot of value into the $13 pour.

Yelp
I am an event professional that was looking for a no-fuss, low-key place to host a large family event. We decided to host our event at the Fort Hamilton tasting room, and I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. The bartenders are top-notch, and our guests were really impressed with the quality of the drinks and the speed and friendliness of the service. The ambiance is great, especially since we had very nice weather outdoors and were able to have the large window open. On one hand, having two rooms can be a bit awkward for a larger group event, but on the other hand it gives the guests an opportunity to have a main area with more lively atmosphere closer to the bar, and another area with a more intimate feel farther away from the bar. We had catering delivered from a local restaurant, and there was ample space to set up the food for our guests. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a quality venue with amazing craft drinks, attentive staff, and professional management.

Yelp
Kelsey is such a good bartender and tour guide! So knowledgeable about the different types of whiskey (bourbon?)

Yelp
Went with a group of 12 for a fun girls-night out tour and tasting. Wonderful, friendly staff. Kelsey was our tour guide and was great. Entertaining, enthusiastic, approachable and knew her stuff. The bourbons and ryes are great (and higly recommended) but Ft. Hamilton Gin is my favorite gin. Extensive cocktail menu and our group ordered in food and stayed as long as we wanted. Had a blast! Thank you Kelsey!!

Yelp
I've come here several times in the past including my Birthday the past two years and have had a whiskeylicious time every time! In the past two years they have expanded their space and now have a Pool Table and a corny situation with Corn Hole as well. The Whiskey is fantastic with my favorites being the Bourbon and Cask Strength Rye. They also make a Maple Bourbon Syrup which is amazing to put on Waffles! The service is always spot on as for our last visit Haley did our tasting and was lovely. Always a fun vibe when visiting! It's a trek for me to come out but I always love stopping by!

Yelp
What a cool place. Know for their Rye and they also make maple syrup in their barrels. Great place to chill in the Industry City district in Brooklyn.

Yelp
So glad their taproom is finally open! And it's a great one. Granted, this review is a few months overdue, and they were around when the weather was still nice. But thankfully, they have a dual use space, with outdoor counter seating (you can walk up the metal stairs from the courtyard at building 6), as well as an indoor space where all the galleries are. The space is lovely (especially love the live edge wood bar). If you're gonna go, you *have* to do a flight. It includes gin, rye, bourbon, and ends with a shot of their delicious signature bourbon barrel maple syrup. They also do cocktails if you want to take it slow. Grab a bottle or two while you're there! I know I did!

Yelp
Ken is the best bartender EVER! Literally had the time of my life chatting with him and the other patrons. Cheers!

Yelp
Loved our Rye Revolution tour tonight! Evan ran the tour (there were 4 of us, a nice small group), and then we chatted with Alex the owner at the end as well. They were both super nice and intelligent. Ironic/cheeky that an Englishman had to come over to make proper rye in BK, but he's a true Brooklyner as well who has been here for since the '90s (& is very invested in the history of the area). He also used to be a DJ so the playlist was great! I tried the Hot Toddy before the tour and my fiancé had the Old Fashioned, both were great. Also want to highlight the walnut bitters & cardamom bitters in the drinks, which beautifully complement the liquor. We toured around and sampled a few of the products, our favorite was the double-barreled Rye, the bourbon was very drinkable as well. The most outstanding product in my opinion is the maple syrup - literally the best I've had, you need a bottle!! During the tour you also make a bottle of the Rye (someone hammers the top of the bottle in, someone puts a label on it, etc.) - it's a fun time! Very excited for the watermelon-kissed gin which is expected to be produced & served in spring of 2022. This place is in Industry City in building 6 on the 2nd floor, given the building's current setup it's a little tricky to find (different elevators lead to different places), so it's recommended that you show up 15 minutes early just in case. The building is under a bit of construction so this should get easier with time. Highly recommend a visit! Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required.

Yelp
Cute little tasting room on the 2nd floor in Industry City. They have great whiskey, maple syrup and drinks. If you are ever at Industry city you must try it.

Yelp
Went for my husbands birthday. Great selection and service. Lovely location with indoor and out door seating. We played 2 games of pool and corn hole. Cant wait to go again.

Yelp
This is the best hidden spot ever. Undiscovered Industry City gem. If you wanna try out an original blend of scotch's, distilled and served on premise. Then you have to come over to Fort Hamilton. The vibe is personable and relaxed. Tell Alex and Ann I said hi.

Micky H.

Yelp
Great spot for watching the world cup!! They show all the 2pm games! You can bring in food! Ammaaahzing craft cocktails, yummy whiskey flights and super friendly staff!!

Michael L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the space and the view from the second floor overlooking the courtyard. The Old Fashion was a great blend of their rye, walnut bitters, homemade maple syrup and orange peels. One of the best Old Fashions I've had in a long time. Most memorable since Amor and Amargo in the East Village. Moscow Mule was also refreshing.
