San Francisco and the Bay Area’s 12 Best Farmers Markets | Eater

"Another market that will make you grateful for Northern California, the Fort Mason market convenes weekly at the historic former army post, set right on the water with views of the Golden Gate (when the fog hasn’t kicked in). More than 35 vendors come together to sell their wares, like Bogdanich’s farm-grown dried fruits, a huge range of seasonal vegetables from Oya Organics, sourdough breads made from California grain at The Midwife and the Baker, and many more. Grab some fresh stone fruit or a gluten-free pastry and snack as you stroll along the waterfront." - Vox Creative

With bay views and 50-plus vendors, Fort Mason’s Sunday market is a scenic favorite for picnic-ready produce and prepared foods. Recommended by Eater SF and operated by California Farmers’ Markets Association, it’s a great stop before a waterfront stroll.

Pretty nice market. Very small, and it’s amazing how overpriced everything is … Bought a chicken breast that is $17 a pound. And it’s frozen, not even fresh … Did I miss something? Fort Mason is pretty as usual.

Google
Go to the last aisle to find Ferry Farms at Ft Mason on Sundays if you want the best Cara Cara oranges in the Bay Area! I have been alternately buying Cara Caras from different vendors at the Ferry Building and Fort Mason every weekend since they came in season and this guy has the very best ones. I made amazing holiday dishes that Included either the fruit or the juice or both and everyone raved about them. I snack on one every day and take my time to savor how flavorful and juicy they are. Cara Cara Oranges in Season NOW! Get down there and see Blll for your citrus fix! He also sells other oranges and fresh juice. They are from Marin. We are so blessed to have such an abundance of amazing produce in the Bay Area. GO LOCAL!

Google
Really love this farmers market. I like to go every time I visit SF. Really good dumpling stand as well As fresh bread, pastries and veggies! Almost forgot to mention the chicken truck is amazing!!!!

Google
The farmers market had excellent energy. Loved all of the good eats. A wide variety of organic vegatbles available. Enjoyed just about everything but i was not a fan of the Forest & flour cookies. Almost everyone let you pay with your electric wallet, venmo, debit or cash.

Google
Only place so far I’ve found good tomatoes, and I’m a fussy European. Come here for fresh greens, roots, fruit. Dairy and bread had few representatives and while they’re good they’re not my go to - Acme for bread! However this place has really nice vibes, music, way too much hummus to taste .. aaandd last but not least, the street food! The green farmer, or whatever they’re called are the real mvp here! Best burrito and breakfast I’ve had in the city, and you should see that guy cook, truly passionate!

Google
A bit overpriced but a stunning collection and beautiful spot to have a farmers market.

Google
Marvelous array of fresh produce, bakeries and artisanal food stuffs. Perfect start to Sunday's leisure. Arrive early and savor the delights of the season and pleasure of people-watching.

Fresh and colorful market! Lots of great veggies and fruits All so beautiful and tasty!

Yelp
One of the biggest farmer's markets in SF! They have a great selection of produce. Lots of different seasonal vegetables and fruit. Lots of the stalls have samples of fruit you can try before you buy which was nice. They also have some meat, fish, cheese, and bread vendors, as well as a bunch of hot food vendors. I picked up a loaf of whole wheat sourdough. I forgot the bakery's name but they had a HUGE selection of bread and other baked goods. I like that they sold 2 sized of their loaves so you could get a smaller loaf if you wanted. I also got a sandwich at one of the hot food vendor which was really good. There are a few other hot food vendors so it's a good place to get breakfast or lunch. Definitely worth a visit! I wish I lived closer to this farmers markets because it's one of the best ones in the city.

Yelp
The Fort Mason Center Farmers' Market, located in San Francisco's Marina District, is a vibrant destination for fresh, locally sourced produce and artisanal goods. Open every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the market features over 35 vendors offering everything from organic produce to pastured meats and prepared foods. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, it's a perfect spot for a leisurely morning. Whether you're shopping for fresh ingredients or enjoying a bite from local food vendors, the market provides a lively, scenic experience. Parking is available, but it's best to arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Yelp
A lot of good food, handmade items, and organic options available. Can't really beat the view either. The only downside to this market is that parking can be difficult, but it is what it is. City life, amiright?!

Yelp
This is was a perfect Sunday morning experience! We grabbed coffee at equator coffees and walked around the many stalls. They have such a wide range of stalls and vendors to peruse. We got to taste test the freshest fruits, taste some wine and hummus, make flower bouquets and even pet a lamb! They also have numerous food trucks which I want to try next time I visit this market. Everyone is super friendly and the market is also pet friendly. The market is rather small but makes for a more intimate experience!
google avatar

Wayne T.

Yelp
One of the best farmers market in the bay. You have to pay for parking,if you want to be close by. There is a free parking lot near the marina to the left of the market
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
This is a great farmers market. The peaches are a must buy right now. I also got some Thai hummus from the hummus guys that are very kind about samples and it was delicious! They have great options for people looking for probiotics, gluten free food, dumplings, fresh fruit and veggies, mushrooms, etc! Everyone is very nice and friendly. I highly recommend looking up which fruits and veggies are in season prior to going. I am giving 4 stars because where are the tamales? Farmers market is only a 10 if there are tamales.

Yelp
The Fort Mason Center Farmers Market is the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. There are quite a few vendors and parking spaces so it is very accessible. There are dozens of fresh produce stands, food stalls, and even live music. They have fresh fruits and vegetables to pastries, bagels, bread, hummus, yogurt, beverages, cheeses, meat, coffee, fish, nuts, flowers, burritos, dumplings, and more! They also have plenty of seating and tables and all of the vendors are very nice! Most places take card but bring cash just in case!

Yelp
Quick update The "Drewish" bagel spot was delicious These were great: -Everything bagel W/ -honey pink salt schmear My significant other really liked these!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a Farmer's Market with plenty of parking and the vendors are friendly. There is a sandwich guy who makes a dang good breakfast sandwich. Oh and Bill Ferry Ranches with fresh squeezed orange juice is there! They have the best oranges. There is dumplings, and they are delicious I had the crab ones.

Yelp
Fort Mason has a decent size farmers market with a nice mix of vendors. Not an ideal market today for Asian Vegetables, but overall it had most of the things one might want be it Fruit, Veg, Flowers, Baked Goods, Proteins, or Hot Food. As for parking the Gods smiled on me and some how a space opposite the Safeway was open as I drove past. Overall a good experience.
google avatar

Joan W.

Yelp
This is one of the most beautiful farmers markets as you are right on the bay. There is a diverse selection of stalls and a few restaurants nearby like Greens and Radhaus. Most vendors take credit cards. Parking is $3 an hour and the lot sometimes can get completely full depending on if there is an event in the Pavilion. Drivers beware, as you are driving in there are people walking around aimlessly. There is a trail from the parking lot to Fort Mason so many pedestrians are meandering in and out not really paying attention to where they are walking. I feel like there should be a more designated path for pedestrians because it's an accident waiting to happen. I actually prefer to park somewhere in the Marina and walk in. It's nice to go for a walk afterward to Marina Green or Fort Mason.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Love this farmers market! They have the best produce during all of the different seasons. My favorite stands are the hummus stand, the stone fruit stand and the veggie stand. They often have live music and it is a great place to go on a Sunday!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Its a beautiful farmers market but feels too cramped with the layout. Would be nice if they were able to just line that long alley and make the square a seating area with picnic benches. Most places also only took cash which is a bummer. And there wasn't too many lunch options. It was mainly just produce.
google avatar

Regina C.

Yelp
Very quiant farmer's market compared to Ferry Building farmer's market! The location is very nice, by the water! It's a bit more excluded and smaller but still really cool to check it out :)
google avatar

Bailey D.

Yelp
So lucky to have this market nearby on Sundays. Perfect place to meander and buy produce for the week. The bakery stands always have lines but boy are they worth it.
google avatar

Sherry S.

Yelp
Meet me at the farmers market. Fort Mason farmers market is my favorite Bay Area farmers market hands down. Every Sunday morning at Fort Mason Center, they not only have a wide selection of fresh local produce, but also: Delicious eats, from Saltwater Bakery's croissant french toast to Happy Dumpling truck's dumplings handmade to order. Awe-inspiring views of the Golden Gate Bridge and SF Bay. Lots of space and not crowded at all, unlike other markets that make you uncomfortable during COVID times. Dogs everywhere (but you didn't hear it from me).

KJ T.

Yelp
Five stars for the vendors for having to put up with the BS from the operations staff who are really clueless about informing patrons about vendor updates. First of all, why did you move Saltwater Bakeshop? Was that at the request of the owner or was this decided by operations staff? I'm so glad I read their instagram updates regarding their location change, but nary a word when I receive the email updates. Secondly, the info booth staff are difficult to find as they are not front and center when you walk into the market; you have to zig zag to find them only to be met with individuals who are clueless about which vendors are in or out for the season. Finally, why is the beer vendor front and center of the market? They are not representative of the market as a whole. Any vendor location switches, when vendors are in or out for the season, etc should be in the Market Update email.

Yelp
There are 2 stands we absolutely love at fort masons Sunday farmers market- one for their loaded breakfast burrito and one for authentic dumplings (you can mix and match flavors)! Not too many tables/seats in the market but you can always grab a bench near the water to enjoy the food!
google avatar

Rachma R.

Yelp
Love this farmer's market so much. A lot of fresh fruit and veggie vendors that provide samples before buying.

bon w.

Yelp
Shout out to the awesome farmers and vendors who showed up at the market today despite the weather. Even though a handful were able to make it, I was able to get two big bags of fantastic produce. Everyone had a great attitude and they work so hard. Get out there and support your local farmers and food purveyors!
google avatar

Sandy B.

Yelp
Might not be the big farmers market some are looking for but it has everything I need and more. It has parking which is a plus for drivers. I love it because it's my neighborhood farmers market. I get all my seasonal fruits there, always fresh and beautiful. There is always fresh vegetables. They also have food stands, honey, meat, fish, eggs, etc. I look forward to my Sundays at the Fort Mason.

K E.

Yelp
1 star for dumpling vender. I love dumplings and had a lots of them from different places. This is the worst dumplings I ever had. I bought 5 of shrimps, 5 of pork and both smelled funny. Also the texture of dough is terrible. Unfortunately I have to throw them out.

Yelp
This review is for Chez Bobo the Vietnamese food tent (and a plea for better food tents in general considering what we have in SF). Wish I checked the reviews on the Chez Bobo Yelp page before trying. The food is awful. Zero seasoning. The chicken tasted awful. I just ate the noodles and whatever rancid vegetables I couldn't separate -- and had a tummy ache after. Totally unsanitary like other reviewers said -- the (totally unpleasant) woman handles cash and everything else with the same gloves she uses to make your food. Also, if you have a shrimp or shellfish allergy WARNING you about cross contamination (which they will deny, but your reaction will confirm - probably the peanuts too). Serious health violation! The chicken vermicelli bowl is SO overpriced at $16 for this low quality and tasteless food, and they only take cash. Ft Mason Farmers Market shouldn't have a business with such low sanitation standards and health risk to people with allergies, not to me to mention such bad food. It's a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning, but a total bummer that they don't have better breakfast/lunch options.
google avatar

Liza H.

Yelp
One of my favorite farmers markets in the city. There are plenty of veggies to choose from and they also have great food like roasted whole chicken, dumplings, and breakfast burritos. One of my favorite vendors is hummus heaven and Biota which serves vegan pastries!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Nice farmers market right at fort mason. Pretty decent selection of produce (although wish there were more samples). Prices are pretty much what you would expect for a marina farmers market. Highlight was probably the food stands. Awesome hummus stand and some cool breakfast places (breakfast burritos, bagels, etc).
google avatar

Kara N.

Yelp
LOVE spending my Sunday mornings at Fort Mason for the farmers market. My go to stands are 1. Hummus heaven 2. Green Grocer 3. The cider guys (guava goodness I'm looking at you) 4. The juice lady! This market is small is comparison to the ferry building market on Saturdays but it truly has all the necessities. I would bring cash because the merchants prefer it and you might get hit with a credit card charge for your transactions. Also save a tree and BYOB, bag that is.. the market runs from 9:30-1:30pm and I always find that early bird gets the worm here if you want first picks on everything and avoid standing in lines. Overall a great place to stumble upon if you're taking a Sunday stroll around the marina gr

Yelp
As a person who has practiced healthy eating for nearly a year, I have gone to farmers markets up and down California. One of my favorite farmers markets in California is the Fort Mason Center San Francisco Farmer's Market. One reason is because it's in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco but in the city, the market features local farms and organic produce for San Francisco residents and visitors. Where many farmers markets tend to be seasonal, the Fort Mason Center San Francisco Farmer's Market is held on Sundays between 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Granted, it's not huge as some farmer's markets take several blocks, the location does provide entertainment and a lot of delicious food sold by vendors. Because it's in the Marina, sometimes it's cold and chilly and it can get windy, so I often worry about booths being picked up by the wind. Which I have seen happen. Nevertheless, people enjoy going to this Farmer's Market and really...where else can you be near a marina, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and purchase a lot of inexpensive organic vegetables for a great price in the city? The Fort Mason Center Farmers Market in San Francisco is definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
We come down here every Sunday to sample all the goods. It's especially great if it's a nice sunny day and I'd recommend coming a little later in the morning since all the booths will be up. Stop at the hummus guy and the breakfast burrito place. I highly recommend both!
google avatar

Yelp
This two starts is for Green Grocer. The breakfast food stand at the market. The market itself is 3 stars because it's too expensive now. It costs more for similar quality produce than the Safeway across the street. How is that possible? The urban farmer's market/food truck culture has jumped the shark IMHO On to Green Grocer... $12 for the "Hippy Hash" has to be the biggest disappointment ever. Even at $6 I'd be bummed, because it just sucked. A stale piece of toast, 1.5 eggs it seemed, and a small pile of burned veggies with no flavor. I normally make my own eggs at home for breakfast but I figured I'd leave it to the "pros" today. I could destroy this guy's business by opening up a stand right next to his and charging that same $12, or frankly more, just by making my egg dish. I'm no chef but that's how bad this dish was. I'm friggin Anthony Bordain (RIP), by comparison. A once wonderful farmer's market has gone down hill because they overcharge for good but unspectacular produce or I'm just turning into an old curmudgeon. On a positive note, the freshly made scones at the cafe are great. So there, not that curmudgeony.

mark z.

Yelp
Caveat! Just make sure you shop at the correct stalls. One place charged $4.50lb for persian cucumbers while 2 stops down the same thing was selling for $1.50 less. I knew it was strange when 5 small persian cucumbers came to a total of $4.75 didn't think much of it figuring all merchants charged the same price. I had second thoughts of the price charged but thought that all prices must be regulated to an extent at such a venue. It's the same stall I refused to pay $5.00 for a bag of chips. If I choose to spend my hard earned cash on organic food and support local vendors it's unscrupulous to over charge.....
google avatar

Barron C.

Yelp
Great vendors right next to the water. Highly recommend for a nice Sunday outing. They have everything from spit roasted chickens to gluten free bakeries. Personal favorites include the pit chip/hummus spot with the friendliest owners and the Indian dip spot with the garlic chips that have the perfect texture.
google avatar

Sandy K.

Yelp
Arrived early so I could check this market before attending the Eat Drink SF on Sunday afternoon. Parking wasn't an issue BC I found complimentary parking on the street which is free on Sunday's. No charge for admission and I was impressed with the variety of organic veggies & fruit, dried goods and even baked pastries. There were several food vendors selling freshly made pot stickers, German sausages and baked goods.. The vendors are generous about having samples available and sampled organic fruits, dry fruits, honey and enjoyed a chocolate croissant - everything was stellar. I would definitely recommend this farmers market if you're in the Fort Mason area on a Sunday am.
google avatar

Austin W.

Yelp
I love stopping by this Farmer's Market on Sundays - super easy way to feel productive before noon. Parking in the area is quite difficult to find, particularly after 10 a.m. so I recommend stopping by early if you're driving. I don't see a huge rotation of vendors at this farmer's market but at the same time, the vendors that do come serve high quality products; I would not mind if the same vendors continued to serve this farmer's market for years to come. There's a good selection of fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats, juices, and pastries from local farmers and shops, and if you're looking for a meal, there are a number of food stalls as well. Do expect to pay SF prices for the food though.
google avatar

T C.

Yelp
For produce, it kinda sucks. Only like 40-50% of the stalls actually sell fruits/veggies, and that's roughly split in half too, so the pickings are pretty slim. When I went today, there was literally no dino kale. Like, WTF? That really should be an abundant staple at any market around here nowadays. What little produce there is isn't Insta-worthy picture-perfect, so at least the gawking big-ass-camera toting crowd isn't there taking up space while you try to shop like at the Ferry Building. On the other hand, if you're looking to "brunch" (the verb), hang out outside, and/or grab some prepared foods at the other 50-60% of the stalls, it's not too bad aside from the usual lines. As a side note, there are "no pets" signs at every entrance, yet plenty of oblivious (or IDGAF) people still bring their fur babies in since it doesn't appear to be enforced. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but it's a health and safety regulation for a reason.
google avatar

Henry W.

Yelp
Part of my weekly Sunday routine is dropping by this beautiful farmers market located in the parking lot of Fort Mason. I love the walk there as I get to go through Fort Mason Recreational Park while enjoying views of the Golden Gate and the wonderful water. The selection here is always fantastic - lots of organic and local seasonal produce that I use to last me until Wednesday, when I go to the other farmers market in Civic Center. Also, I travel quite a bit and I definitely see the quality difference between SF Farmer Markets and those in other parts of the world. The farmer markers here are just next level.

Yelp
Was in town for the weekend at nearby Renegade Craft Fair and bought the most incredibly delicious nectarine at this exact farmers market. I don't know what to say except that it was the juiciest, fleshiest, sweetest nectarine of my life. Weeks later, the taste of it still haunts me. Had I known how much this piece of fruit would shake my soul, I probably would've bought another one or seven. What did I learn from this experience? I don't know yet. Wiping the last drops of juice off my chin, I felt as if I too had been wiped clean. A new me has emerged, and it's too soon to say how my life will unfold after this experience. Incredibly handsome dogs also seem to frequent this market, so an A+ experience all around.

Yelp
My favorite farmers' market in San Francisco. 1) Location, location, location - you can't beat being right by the water in the Marina. After you pick up your produce or lunch, you can sit on a bench along the water and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Or venture inside the cafe for seating indoors and the handy bookshop next to it. 2) People - predominately, locals shop here. Sure it's a lot of the Marina crowd, but I venture in from an adjoining neighborhood and delight in sampling produce from these farmers who are so friendly and generous. It's not as crazy as the Ferry Building farmers market and makes for a lovely destination on a Sunday morning 3) The variety of food and goods - there's such an assortment of goods for purchase; whether it is fruit & veg or cheeses, prepared foods, flowers, plants, handmade soap, etc. They frequently have entertainment. Today they had a marvelous folk singer when entertained everyone. 4) One of the best bakeries that sell in the City is here. I have my favorite pastries that they have available. I'd rather not tell you which ones they are, otherwise, they may run out of them next week!

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Lots of great stuff here!! I grabbed a BLT from the Green Grocer station on my way in, which is made fresh with heirloom tomatoes from the market. The sourdough the used for the sandwich was also one of the best I've had. There are plenty of samples to try at the market and a lot of variety in food - lots of veggies, snacks, and juices. Make sure to stop by the hummus stand, they have so many different kinds and all are amazing (they'll give you samples of all the kinds you want!)! Would recommend the avocado cilantro hummus and their homemade pita - I brought it to a party and it was a huge hit!

Yelp
Joe kicked ass today ! He was super cool , and he let me taste this delicious pastry he was saving for himself . They were closing up and he was going to make me a grilled cheese and he found LAMB. The last grilled cheese went to a LAMB GRILLED CHEESE ! If you ever get a chance to have this delicious food and great hospitality please visit joe. FUCKING DELICIOUS Ten minutes after first review. Jesus Christ this good. I am waking to sit down with my half eaten sandwich, and a dude walking next to me says "damn , that looks good" I stop take another bite , which makes me add kids to the review The bread in this Sandwich is hearty but soft , the cheese is good but not greasy , they add lamb , still not greasy and is not a hamburger. They have the perfect formula , perfect , bread , meat combo ,with good flavor without excessive grease

Yelp
I lived very close to Fort Mason for years. This Farmers Market had great produce and tasty prepared foods. And Fort Mason is a wonderful setting if the wind isn't too active, Early girl tomatoes, rainier cherries, grapes, cashews and almonds. Giant bratwurst. Animalistic pig knuckles from the Roti Truck, which also had the potatoes sitting under the rotisserie that they seasoned with rosemary. In SF you expect to have high quality, and here you get it. Now that I'm back home in the Mid-Atlantic, the farmers markets are very expensive, and for the most part the stuff they sell is junk. I miss this market
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of this Sunday Farmers market. From the ease of surface lot parking to having my morning latte at Equator Coffees across the lot. I am a fan of this market also due to the Roli Roti truck, as you can't miss the rotisserie chicken from here (it's really good). All of the veggies and fruits I get here are always fresh and I love to support the local farmers. I also like seeing the new booths or vendors that occasionally will pop up. Definitely make this one of your stops if you are trying to avoid the massive crowds at the Saturday Ferry Building market (still a fan, just can be overcrowded).
google avatar

Meagan N.

Yelp
Love the marina farmers market on Sundays at Fort Mason. My favorite booth is Hummus Heaven-they give so many samples and have the best lemon garlic pita chips!
google avatar

Anjali P.

Yelp
I wish I could come here everyday! Great selection of prepared foods, vegetables, nuts, flowers, and other local baked goods. For those folks shopping at Safeway across the street - come here for your produce instead! You'll end up paying about the same for your veggies, with way better quality and freshness. Make sure to check out the Hummus stand and the dumpling food vendor!
google avatar

Shira W.

Yelp
This farmer's market scores for vendors and location. There's a nice selection of fruits and vegetables as well as gluten-free pastries, honey, chocolate, flowers, and more! The last time I went I got organic strawberries, lettuce with edible flower petals, and a lemon coconut chocolate cake from Flour Chylde bakery. Fort Mason Center Farmer's Market is on the smaller side for farmer's markets in the Bay Area, but you can grab organic produce for the week as well as lunch and/or dessert to enjoy with a view of the Golden Gate bridge. If you're in the area on a Sunday morning, it's a fun destination to check out.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
I love this farmers market! It's a good size with lots of options of produce. There's even a stand with fresh homemade pasta. It's delicious! I also had an amazing lunch last time i went. I got a breakfast burrito from the Green Grocer. It was so worth the wait!! 100% recommend it
google avatar

Marissa N.

Yelp
Smaller than my hometown farmers market but the quality was quite high. My favorite was the everything brioche at the bread purveyor it was everything and a bag of chips. If I hadn't had lunch plans eating at the stands looked inviting but really all of the complimentary tastings provide for a nice snacking.

Yelp
Website: http://cafarmersmkts.com/markets/category/fort-mason-center http://www.facebook.com/FMCfarmersmkt#!/FMCfarmersmkt?sk=wall Organizer: California Farmer's Markets Association Season: open all year Schedule: Sundays 9:30am-1:30pm This new farmers market is organized by the same group that does the really nice Crocker Galleria Farmers Market in SF downtown, as well as the less popular Daly City FM (Serramonte Center back parking lot) and Parkmerced FM (currently closed). The area has fantastic views and is really beautiful on sunny days, http://media1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/gKCoqt2cgqTRsrMxAisInA/l so it's surprising that this wasn't done sooner. Nice place to go shopping for groceries (other than the Safeway a block away) and perhaps later have brunch at nearby Greens restaurant. Lots of friendly vendors, there's a few hot food items like bratwurst http://media3.ct.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/7lJBCq7cQWnOS6dx7AjdCQ/l and crepes, http://media1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/E19Mfo_5TRdqPu5g-BVnnA/l and a wide variety of produce and fruits. http://media3.ct.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/6-bdKY-RvsuzZ4rdiV1hfw/l Get some strawberries now in season, and sweet corn from Brentwood. Keep in mind that the surrounding neighborhood is expensive, so don't expect to see prices like the Civic Center FM but still reasonable. I love farmers markets! Update - after a follow up visit, I have to add a star to my original rating. I liked the 2nd day much better than the first day. The place is becoming very popular with cyclists now, and locals are just beginning to learn about this FM so parking will probably be much harder to find in the future. Warning if u park inside the lot, lost tickets are $10. http://static1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/xFX9uANKuYrTv-TUowb2nQ/l 2nd update: originally organized as a seasonal FM (Jun-Oct) but due to its huge popularity, it's become a year round event. Yay!! Tips on dining areas: wooden benches are located next to every building http://static1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/JBUlLSHBg-NK0oJajIDPNA/l and 2 tents with tables and lounge chairs, are near the Roli Roti truck (one in front of it and another on the left side). For those who don't know the Chaac Mool (Yucatecan tacos, tortas, sopes, etc) food stand is separate from this market, so it's open Fri-Sun 11am-5pm. http://media3.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/mheGuVPLe5tBJqeVrtEVQg/l Fans of the Roli Roti truck should know that it only has roasted chicken ($12, $6.50 half), u will need to continue to go to the Ferry Building's FM for the porchetta sandwich. Remember to bring a reusable grocery tote bag or buy one at the information booth. Some vendors only have small paper bags, so it becomes cumbersome to carry several of those if u do a lot of shopping. Don't forget to bring cash and ask for free food samples!

Yelp
My go to Farmer's Market. Wonderful selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, olive oil, flowers, honey and much more! The Fort Mason Farmers' Market is much smaller than the Ferry Building Market, so you get less variety but I find that you can get everything you need here. The Ferry Building is great for eating and taking out of towners but Fort Mason is where I go to get my shopping done. The location right next to the water is pleasant (though can sometimes make it chilly on a windy day) and there is normally live music, which I love. Many of the vendors accept credit card but it's good to have cash just in case. I recommend the sourdough bread. There's also an Italian food stand which sells great fresh pasta sauce! I also love the fresh salsa (you can normally find samples of it laid out). I often come here first thing in the morning and the ready-made food is just okay. Not a lot of variety. The dumplings are good but not my favorite for breakfast food. I didn't love the pastries I tried but the crepes are delicious. Also, there are enough delicious samples to hold you over and the Philz Truck is normally nearby!
