This isn't a large museum, but the exhibits are powerful and well worth visiting. The gift shop showcases dozens of local and regional artists, all producing fantastic work with a high level of craftsmanship. I respect and appreciate how this museum combines sharing relevant contemporary artwork with strong support for its local arts community. We need more of this!

My muralist art grandson and I attended the second Thursday open house at the Fort Wayne museum of art. The event had a great attendance, they served tasty treats and drinks were available. And oh! The art! And the glass! I had such a wonderful time and since I no longer live in the city I was unaware of this wonderful opportunity that the folks in Fort Wayne have to go to the museum at no charge once a month and partake of the beauty of these pieces and just decompress a little. At least that's what I did! It was fabulous! And believe me, you'll see a lot of pictures of mine here but there are 10 times more! Lol

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art has a wonderfully diverse collection of art to appeal to everyone. The glass collection is particularly outstanding. They have great temporary exhibitions so there is always something new. Be sure to check the website for what is currently going on.

It was a rainy day at the campsite. So, this was a spontaneous visit! Inside the museum, it was dry and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. The entrance fee is quite reasonable, especially for seniors. The exhibits were thought-provoking. I am glad the rain drove me inside!

The art here was beautiful, interesting, and magnificent. However, the person from the front desk basically stalked us throughout the museum. We didn't touch anything and did not use flash photography so it just felt uncomfortable.

Had an afternoon free in Fort Wayne and popped into the Museum of Art and it was FANTASTIC. Great flow and exhibits. We took our time through all the galleries and felt the quality of curation was top notch. Highly recommend making time for a visit.

Beautifully designed glassworks were on display, incredible! Not a large gallery so can take in all the exhibits without rushing. Outdoor courtyard also, and gift shop both well worth your time to enjoy

Highly recommend! This was one of my favorite places to visit while on our trip to Fort Wayne. Interesting and diverse collection of art. Gift shop had pieces you could purchase from local artists. Admission for vets is free including family members. Parking was free as well behind the museum. There was an interactive kids area and a zen garden outside.

Yelp
Ft. Wayne is incredibly lucky to have an art museum of such high caliber. The curation is excellent, the location is perfect and lots of parking, the admission price is decent (although I have a membership so I get in for free), and the gift shop is filled with high quality pieces. My family is a big supporter of the arts so I grew up going to every new exhibit each season. I just don't understand how an art museum in little old Ft. Wayne is able to acquire such fabulous pieces! I am also a massive fan of their permanent collection of glass art, which is one of the best in the entire county. Make this a must-see in your visit to Ft. Wayne!

Yelp
Nice variety of art and the artists they were highlighting - amazing! I love how it is family friendly - there is a room for kids to get hands on with art. I also liked how they had timely exhibits - the Dio de Los Muertos exhibit allows for community involvement. The Covid exhibit - impactful.

Yelp
Art was amazing but I was told to place my small backpack in a coat room. While seeing art I saw other larger bags and larger green backpack whose owners were not banished to the coat room. The individual working the floor kept following us making our visit uncomfortable

Yelp
Came from Indy to view the Hebru Brantley exhibit at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and loved it! The Gallery areas are large enough for social distancing and also gives the opportunities to get close to the art for optimal appreciation. Adult tickets are $8, kids $6, which is very affordable! There are four large exhibition areas as well as hallway displays. There is also an area for children creativity and exploration. We didn't bring our little ones this time, bit the next tome we visit, we'll know we'll be able to let the kids get their artistic juices flowing!

Yelp
I had a wonderful time at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The museum was small, but it had everything I was interested in. Fashion, Flowers, quilts and glass. This was the first day of the Bill Blass exhibit. I was interested to learn that Bill Blass was from Fort Wayne and also a contributor to the museum. I would highly encourage a trip to this lovely museum.

Yelp
Landmark review On a Thursday evening we decided to journey here for a visit prior to Covid-19. Admission is free from 5-8 pm on Thursday otherwise it is 8 dollars for adults an 6 dollars for students. It appears based on the photos they have frequent new exhibits which allows for a new experience with each visit. I was surprised by the amount of art work from students in one gallery, however there was some unique pieces that stand out, but some of the other art work reminds you of the art fair at a high school. The main exhibit that was present was a post modern motif that I didn't find that exciting, however to have something like this in our town is a great addition! Check it out when it opens back up after this pandemic!

Yelp
This is such a peaceful place to take in art. Really: Just walk in and you'll see that your shoulders release tension and your mind starts to settle. At least, that's what happened with me. What is it about an art museum that makes a person feel this way? I don't know, but I like it. You'll like it too, I'm sure. Fort Wayne is fortunate to have such a place. If you have kids, take a left at the entrance and go into the children's wing of the art museum. You'll find lots of manipulatives like LEGO and other toys to build with, as well as art supplies and a big white board that you can draw on. Other people had left their artwork on the board: monsters eating hamburgers, cats, devils, Pokémon, spiderwebs -- it was all there. On the table, there are coloring pages, crayons and other art supplies. And there are copious books to read, and bean bag chairs on which to read them. I LOVE this area because usually, kids in an art museum equals a disaster. Kids just love to touch things and contribute their own ideas to (aka draw on and/or feel) priceless pieces of art. So this area of the museum caters to a child's natural need to create and make their own art. The museum realizes that kids are kids, and they need their own space where people say "yes, you can do that" more than "no, don't touch that." So, if you have children, make sure you visit this area of the museum. The rest of the museum is so pleasant and still. When we visited, the museum was featuring a photography exhibit, which was up my alley. It's a small art museum, but the works are well curated and the space is peaceful. We had a great time here.

Yelp
They say art is subjective and they are probably right. We went during their second Thursday event where admissions is free and they have an artist fair. There are three main halls of art work, one of which was closed for this event but the other two were open. The art museum is small but they pack a lot in without making the exhibits seem stuffed. I really enjoyed the artist fair. It was set up in one of the main halls and each artist was from the area selling prints, woodworking items, ceramics or other. It was great to chat with local artists and see their work in the gift shop as well. I recommend coming here for an event or an afternoon. You can go through the exhibits in about 1-2 hours.

Yelp
As of being my first time here in Fort Wayne we decided to hit up the art museum. Had two great exhibits and lots of local student stuff including writings. Got to say some beautiful work. Good for about two hours including the gift shop.

Yelp
Enjoyed our visit to FWMoA one cold, damp January day. Allow about 60-90 mins to walk the exhibits that change regularly. Two favorites when we were there: Robert Kipniss' The Whispering Light and John Baeder's sketches of airplanes (Takes Wing on a Higher Road) Pluses: * Fine art rotates regularly so you can return periodically without seeing the same thing * Open, airy and brightly lit with lots of artist signage about what you're seeing * Free two-hour parking nearby * Close-in downtown. Impression: Great venue for private or corporate event after hours. Licensed bar on premises. Fine alternative to, say, taking customers or suppliers to a sporting event.

Yelp
Bodies The Exhibition: This was a must see. I saw this in NY last last year, and for an exhibition on the systems of the human body, it is displayed in artistic ways that where ...amazing to say the least. It sounds gross, but it is really great. Every which way you can cut em up, they are there, which changes how you look at them every time. And by the way, no cases surrounding them, you can inch up as close as you want and examine every hair. They even have stuff you can touch at the end. I won't say any more to spoil the surprise, but if you missed it, you have missed out. Everyone there seemed as fascinated as I was, and I really didn't feel that this show was disrespectful in any way. If anything, it gave me a deeper appreciation for how complex the human body really is. I nearly had myself talked into throwing out my stockpile of butter... nearly. Baby steps. :-) Stepping lightly around the one homeless looking man who stated: If I wanted to see dead bodies...I'd just go out to my shed. Yelp Note: This place is called: The Fort Wayne Museum of Art It is not listed as Susan L. From New York listed it. So this way yelp* search engines will locate this listing.

Yelp
Where I live we have a phenomenal art museum, so I'm lucky and spoiled in that regard. And since where I live is extremely comparable in size to Fort Wayne I was expecting a similar experience. This is definitely not the case. This art museum is rather small and the space is not used to it fullest ability. As for actual art exhibits this museum should really be called a school art fair because 80% of the art on display was from local schools. Super disappointing. I can't believe they have the audacity to charge admission to this wannabe establishment.

Yelp
Wonderfully curated and designed exhibits. When we went they had a lithograph exhibit on and had work from Dali and Pollock among other great local, national and global talent. It seemed like exhibits were rotating almost monthly so I'm sure there would be reason to return regularly if you lived in the area. The exhibit they were putting up looked very cool. I appreciated the range of art - paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, glass and mixed media. During our visit the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards featuring the Gold and Silver Key winning art and writing by students in grades 7-12 from the local area was on display. This was a juried competition and there was fantastic work on display including poetry but the exhibit felt very packed! Loved all the pieces but it probably could have been edited down to better showcase the winners. Great little place and $8 admission was worth the price. Desk staff was very friendly and pointed us to good dinner spots. Spent about 2 hrs looking over all the works on display.

Yelp
I lived in Fort Wayne since I was in high school. So about 20 years. I really enjoy going to larger art museums Regionally. This was my first time here, and really enjoyed it. They had the guitar exhibit going on which was my son's absolute favorite.

Yelp
LOMLMOMD and I went to a black-tie event held at the MoA and had a great time. A few galleries were open for us to walk through. It felt like we were given tons of space and trust - no hovering security guards expecting our inner children to break free and touch things. The staff, though, were super attentive whenever we needed anything... or needed a slosh of wine dabbed off the wooden floors. I can't wait to go back and take in the rest of the exhibits.

Yelp
Although it's a small museum, they had two very interesting and large "temporary" exhibits when we visited in late May. The staff were all very friendly, too.

Yelp
My first introduction to the wonderful smaller venues of art in smaller cities. What a beautiful surprise! Worth every minute there!

Jonathan L.

Yelp
I like the museum, but I am baffled how it cost money to get in 5 days a week and is a tenth the size of Indianapolis Museum of Art which is free(except of special exhibits). The best shows in my opinion are when they bring in local artist. They also get large exhibits like Dale Chohule, Andy Warhol, and have some amazing permanent collection pieces. Oh well the art scene in Fort Wayne is only getting better, and I guess they are doing with what they have. So in regards to that, it is pretty great. I would look forward to the day when the universities or other organizations could collaborate their efforts more into to making this place even greater. I am in fear of its future if greater support does not come. The best show to see is by far the Scholastic Art exhibit, this show highlights the future shakers and movers in the art world(BTW Andy Warhol got his start with this award). If you have an extra 2-3 hours to spend it is worth seeing.
