The world’s only twice-daily longhorn cattle drive brings living Western heritage to the Stockyards at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., free to watch. Frequently recommended by Condé Nast Traveler and Southern Living, it’s pure Cowtown pageantry.

This was the reason I wanted to go to the stockyards and I am 100% happy I got to see them. They are beautiful! We made it to the 11:30 showing on a Tuesday. Upon arriving around 11, we parked fairly close. We walked through some of the shops, then made our way to the roadside at the beginning of the drive. The announcer was very clear and loud. Obviously people don’t listen or did not understand. Anyway, the longhorns come down, walk through in about 7-10 min, if that. There was not too many, but it’s not like they do tricks or anything. lol. I was content with the amount. I was grateful to be able to see them in the viewing area too. To watch them maneuver around with the long horns is amazing. They are aware of the length and avoid hitting posts or one another. If parking wasn’t so costly, I probably could have sat and watched them longer.

visited the Fort Worth Stockyards to see the cattle herd, and it was a great experience. The longhorns are massive, and seeing them up close is definitely memorable. The cattle drive started right on time and only lasted about five minutes, so get there early and be ready. They gave a short but interesting history of the American cowboy before the herd came through, which added to the experience. I also noticed afterward that there’s a small museum nearby—but I missed it this time, so that’s a reason to come back. Surprisingly, I didn’t mind the smell of the cattle either—adds to the authenticity! Overall, a fun and unique slice of Texas history. Worth checking out at least once.

We loved our time at the Stockyards - wandering the streets, shopping, meeting the drovers/cowboys, learning about the longhorns, and watching the cattle drive. It is definitely something to experience at least once. Everyone we met was super friendly and we had a nice lunch. Definitely worth the drive from Dallas.

What an awesome free experience. You can watch the longhorns walk down the street twice a day. We were there on St Patrick’s weekend so the crowd was way bigger than usual. You can go see them in the holding pens before and after the cattle drives. There’s a bridge over the pen with great views of the longhorns.

We had the best time on this beautiful ride by the river. Our guide was knowledgeable about the area and fun to chat with. The horses were wonderful and so sweet. We chose the 6:00pm ride as we wanted to catch some of the sunset. It was beautiful. Even if you have 0 riding experience this is definitely a ride you'll want to take. We would absolutely do it again.

Such a fun day!! We shopped, we drank, we enjoyed the history. The cattle walk is awesome. There was live music in the evening. Love that you can walk around with so much to do.

Such a beautiful exhilarating experience! These cattle are so amazing to see up close. Magical is the closest word I can think of to describe the whole experience of the Fort Worth Stockyard. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Shops were fun and authentic. Streets were beautiful and clean. Even the restrooms were clean! The smells, the sounds, the air took you away to another time. Can't wait to go back.

It’s worth coming to the Stockyards just to see these guys. Two drives are done daily. We caught the 4 pm drive and it was incredible to watch. They drive these guys right down the middle of the street like a parade. For reference, they are much slower moving than the Pamplona bulls. It is pretty safe. But all the same, be ready to move.
