I had a wonderful visit to Fort Worth Nature and Refuge! I encountered a beautiful deer family roaming peacefully, which was such a special moment. The area is alive with so many insects and vibrant floral displays, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy some peaceful wildlife viewing!

Google
The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is a true hidden gem! Just a short drive from the city, it offers over 3,600 acres of peaceful wilderness with beautiful trails, scenic views, and a wide variety of wildlife. One of the highlights is definitely the bison herd. It’s amazing to see these massive, majestic animals roaming freely in their natural habitat. They’re well cared for and add such a unique touch to the experience—you don’t expect to see something like that so close to Fort Worth. The trails are well-marked and vary in difficulty, making it a great spot for both casual walkers and experienced hikers. The visitor center is informative, and the staff are passionate and helpful. You might even catch a glimpse of deer, turtles, or a variety of birds during your visit. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape into nature, a place to hike, or just want to see some bison up close, the Fort Worth Nature Center is a must-visit. Highly recommend

Google
A beautiful and peaceful place to escape the city for a while. I especially enjoyed the Canyon Ridge trail and the Marsh Boardwalk. I love coming here to bird watch and try and spot other wildlife. I got lucky on my last visit and finally saw an alligator here!

Google
Came here with my son and my sister and we had a great time. We drove most of the paved roads, took a 2.5 mile hike and saw plenty of wildlife! Prairie dogs, bison, cranes, hawks, deer, and even an ALLIGATOR! All of the employees were very nice and informative.

Google
Nature Center and Refuge with bison and prairie dogs that we could not see. We still saw, though, some wild boars in the preserve - that are not welcomed here, according to the sour attendant at the gate. The admission rules, though, are irrational and even ridiculous - or stupid. For instance: - Dogs are charged 1 dollar admission!! - "Smoking is prohibited." - " No audible radios or loud music." - " No visiting before or after posted hours." - " Visitors on the grounds after hours WILL be locked in." So, I guess the dogs themselves will have to pay entrance fees, right? Not clear from the posted information. Smoking is prohibited. Is this place a church or hospital? And what does it mean, "No audible radios"? Can a radio work without sound? For other parks admissions, the charges are for the vehicle. Here all occupants of the vehicle are charged a fee. Six occupants in a vehicle would cost 36 dollars!! Talk about rip off or extortion! And the threat: "Visitors on the grounds after hours WILL be locked in," and forced to call the Fort Worth Police in order to be rescued. WHY SUCH BRUTALITY? IS THIS THE KIND OF APPROACH THAT WILL ENTICE VISITORS TO THE REFUGE? If not ridiculous, stupid, and brutal these rules and other similar ones are at least written in very poor English, confusing, and irritating - let alone threatening! Not worth visiting. Will not be back here!!!

Google
Always a great place for hiking. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, and if going into shady areas in the morning, bug spray. Due to flooding, many of the trails are closed right now. We parked in P2 and hiked for almost 2 hours. Trails had people, but not too many. We took our dog who loved it. The days qre getting very hit in the afternoon. Many of the trails are in the sun.

Google
Excellent!!! Upon arrival stopped at the gate there was a road runner. After more of a drive deer. Prairie dogs. Lots of walking trails, very nice building with facilities and gift shop. The lady at the desk was great. She told us the buffalo were on vacation though. Great experience. I hope to go back for a day and explore

Google
Very pretty and clean reserve to hike and explore! The bison were unreal! I'd say that the downside is that the trails are extremely narrow and difficult to navigate - or at least the on we chose that took you up on elevated grounds that overlooked the lake through the historic brick arch. I wouldn't recommend bringing your dog along as it was cumbersome to get around and we ended up with 4+ ticks on us. I loved the scenery and the advanced difficulty of the path but when you needed to pass someone yourself or they had to step into the bushes to let them pass. I'd also recommend not going after it rains as it was extremely muddy and had pooled water in areas. There was only one porta potty at the end of the path that was co ed. Would've been nice to have multiple.

Yelp
Came across this gem by accident because my daughters wanted to go on a " Nature Walk". The prairie dog town was definitely a hit and being able to walk around and take in the sights and walk the trails was a definite 10/10, even with the 95+ degree weather. Didn't get to see the bison, but definitely will be adding this to the rotation of things to do in the area *DON'T WEAR CROCS IF YOU PLAN ON WALKING THE TRAILS*

Yelp
Thank you for partnering with the FW Library and hosting Literacy Days in the summer months! My children and I enjoy hiking and exploring this beautiful Texas Landmark. Today the bison were being transferred to another area as we arrived. I love how much care the animals receive by the staff. Not only the animals but the land as well. Amazing place to reconnect with nature :)

Yelp
Visited last weekend with our two kiddos - we were on the hunt for an easy hike that would keep them entertained as well. Knowing they may see buffalo was enough for them to agree to this location. We arrived around noon, there was no wait to get in, $16 for the 4 of us. We received 2 maps which helped us decide what trail we wanted to take. This was such a fun, pretty hike. Not a whole lot of people there so we pretty much had the trail to ourself. The entire hike was fairly easy - a few spiders but none on the actual trail walkway. So many beautiful lilies on the water and lots of buffalo too - they were just on the opposite side of the fence line from the trail so we didn't get a close look. We took the river bottom trail to limestone ledge, to the prairie, circling us back to our car through deer mouse. Easy, fun, beautiful hike. We will certainly be back, especially in the fall.

Yelp
We had a friendly gate attendant who greeted us. Based on reviews, I thought it was cash only, but she informed us that they definitely accept cards. Don't fret if you don't have cash. We walked around with three adults and a two year old. We braved a path with a jogging stroller, and my toddler walked for a bit. It was steep, just as the description said, so I don't recommend bringing a stroller unless you are sticking to the road and the boardwalk path. I decided to go for it anyway. The bathrooms in the refuge center were clean, cool AC, and a small gift shop along with very cool animal exhibits. I loved the turtles and the hawks the most. We took a little sidewalk circle path to the left upon exiting the center (10 minute path, maybe) and saw 4 creatures back to back! First was a bunny, a lizard, and then a writing spider and two walking stick insects. The next creature we saw after that was a fawn and its mom upon exiting the park. Unfortunately, we did not see any bison like the pictures. Maybe we will try again in the fall! We had a great adventure here and really enjoyed spending time in nature. It was peaceful to be among the big trees and away from crowds.

Yelp
If you have not gone here yet, GO! What a surprise that this place exists just 20 mins from Downtown Ft. Worth. Hiking trails for all levels. And surprising nature scenic views.

Really great place to enjoy for the holidays and weekends with family and friends and fun activities to do around

Yelp
Beautiful drive. We saw many deers. There is a cost to enter which is a fair price. Beautiful trails. You can go canoeing or Hiking.

Yelp
We went on Sunday at 2:45. We were greeted by your coming extremely late. And we close in about an hour and when I informed her that it was not even 3 yet. She said, if you don't pass the entrance at 5pm, you'll get locked in. And you'll have to call non-emergency police, and you'll be charged for trespassing. Like lovely! So welcoming So at 4pm we decided to visit the welcome center before heading out. Not a welcome but we close in a hour. And if you get locked in here, you'll be charged for trespassing after hours. Like? You're kidding me. Won't be returning again. Horrible customer service. $30 to be threatened by staff.

Yelp
Went to a snake exhibit on 5/27/23. Our first time here. We didn't expect such a large park. The nature center has some regular snakes, turtles, & possum in the building. There were obviously more snakes bc of the exhibit by Texas Herpetology. It was a very educational visit. We loved it! We went on a short, easy, 0.5-mile wooded hike behind the building, which was nice & peaceful. We couldn't hear or smell cars or other typical city pollution. Next time, we would get there earlier in a summer day for longer hikes.

Robin B.

Yelp
Must go kayak! Put in at dock & go left for best shade & scenery. Go all the way to 10 mile bridge & back for leisurely 2.5 hour escape. Bring a bag to help pick up trash. Saw over 80 turtles December 28. Every month a different scenario.

Yelp
We are annual pass holders and go all the time, love the hiking trails. Great bang for your buck to do an annual pass. They also host events and activities all the time, check out their events calendar for those.

Yelp
Great place to get away from it all. Deer, armadillo and I didn't realize Alligators!

Yelp
The day I went was also a bison feeding day! It costs $6 per person to enter the refuge and for $5 extra per person, you get to enjoy a presentation about the bison and then feed them. It was worth the extra $5! The presenters gave extensive and interesting information on the history of bison in the U.S., and the history of the refuge. After the presentation, we were allowed to throw pellet treats over the fence to the bison. One of the females was pregnant - you could easily tell, and we could see her baby bison moving around inside her. The park representatives were very friendly and answered all of our questions. There was also a lady visiting with two rambunctious kids. LOL! The park reps were very patient with those kids. The refuge is beautiful and huge. I'm not sure why it took me so long to visit. My hiking buddy and I chose the hardest trail first. It is not difficult if you are relatively fit, but would probably be very difficult if not impossible for small kids and anyone with leg issues. There are a few short steep parts of that trail. We were told that all other trails are pretty flat and rated "easy." Oh, we also saw deer! Two of them came out the woods and stared at us fir a few seconds. They were only about 6 feet from us - properly socially distanced. LOL! We were so excited that neither my friend or I snapped a pic of that. Ok, I could go on and in about this spot, but I'll just leave it at, you really should visit. One final note: bison feeding only happens a few times per year on certain holidays.

Yelp
Nature is always good for us. Although small there is plenty of outdoor activities to complete here.

Yelp
As many years as I've lived in Fort Worth, I had never been here. Wow, what a hidden treasure! There is a central office with many exhibits showcasing the purpose of the center. They also have classes and activities for both adults and children. In other words, the entire family can have a blast when visiting. Since I didn't bring my bicycle, I toured the grounds by foot. There are several steep hills for those who do opt to cycle. The trails are clearly marked for all of us. After a few hours of hiking and enjoying God's creation, I was finally ready to pack it in. Don't miss out on the nature center. It may be a little out of the way, but the drive is well worth the effort.

Yelp
Beautiful place. The trails were huge and nature viewing to its finest.. we saw lots of deer.

Yelp
My husband and I reserved $5 tickets online through their website for a day pass! They have very detailed instructions online for how to reserve the tickets through the City of Fort Worth's website, which I appreciated. You pick an hour of entry (e.g. our tickets were for entry between 8am and 9am) on your day of choice, but I did note you had to reserve them for a separate day so you couldn't decide that day to go to the Nature Center, at least not by the time I was looking to reserve them. They're dog friendly as long as your friend is on a leash! We started by parking at the far end of the nature center to do the Cross Timbers trail, which is very rocky at the beginning but levels out pretty soon after the bridge. The majority of the trail is shaded, which was excellent respite from the July sun, but there are a few patches without tree cover where the trail is a bit hard to discern amidst the long grass. ALSO, we wished we had worn longer socks because as we moved through these sunny patches of long grass, we picked up so many burs on our shoes, legs, and pants. Luckily our dog didn't pick up any, but we stopped pretty frequently for water and checking him for bugs and burs. The trail took us just under an hour and a half to complete with water breaks! We also created our own path by crossing the street by Cross Timbers and starting out on the Riverbottom trail towards the Boardwalk, switching to Wild Plum Trail, then Prairie Trail, finally ending with a descent down the Caprock trail which took us right to where we began! This spontaneous loop was about 1.75 miles, which was a good distance after the Cross Timbers trail. You could also park in other lots to try out separate trails! I really enjoyed how much signage there was on the trails, as each trail is designated by the symbol next to it on the free map they give you at the entrance. It was also pretty deserted and we rarely passed other groups, maybe three separate ones during the three hours we were there. While this was a bit of a drive for me, I would definitely frequent this nature center if I lived closer! We loved our time here and there's probably a trail for everyone here.

Yelp
drove an hour to get here but was turned back because we didn't have cash and "power was out"

Yelp
Top three reasons to visit here: (1) 3600 acres of native space to hike, listen/watch for 270 species of birds and their buffalo/bison herd, and escape city life, (2) you'll be supporting a great nonprofit that educates about conservation, and (3) the nature center has cool live amphibians and reptile and hands-on exhibits. Bonuses: location is less than 30minute drive NW of Fort Worth; they have many events scheduled throughout each month (including special events for members only); and I love their gift shop (geodes, plush toys, nature books, hiking sticks, binoculars, etc.).
google avatar

Yelp
It took me a few visits before I fully appreciated what a treasure the Fort Worth nature center is. I enjoy it even more in the winter than the spring and summer. There are so many wonderful bird species that winter here. The temperatures are great for hiking in the winter. Make sure to try all the trails over multiple visits. They all have unique things to offer. I took way too long to finally try the Riverbottom Trail and now I love it. You need to make multiple visits to fully appreciate the Nature Center.

Yelp
Part of me doesn't want to write this review because I want to keep this hidden gem all to myself. It's a great place for a Sunday "hike" in DFW & an awesome spot to take your dogs for a nice outdoor adventure. They also offer spots to kayak & canoes - so you could easily spend a whole day here. Entry: $5 per person (discounts for seniors - i think?). More info can be found on their website - some other activities have additional fees but that's to be expected. Trails: I've hit a lot of these trails + I like pretty much all of them. They offer different types of terrain which is a nice change of pace in TX. Canyon Ridge is my favorite. Parking: Can be difficult to be honest - so get here early! Great place to take your friends, family, kids & dogs! Pack lunch + make a day trip out of it. #getoutside

One of the greatest places in fort worth hands down. Please help support our local gardens

Yelp
I was so happy to escape to the Fort Worth Nature Center this weekend. I have been feeling trapped in the city, with no trees and no shade. This place is lovely and serene, with lots of different, interesting views and paths to explore. I didn't have much time on Saturday, but in an hour, I did the marsh boardwalk and walked along the path out to the island. I loved getting some breeze off the water. I was also the only person walking in the trees by the marsh, which fulfilled my need for solitude. The guide at the front was helpful, and the map was pretty user friendly. Entry fee was $5, but I think that was per-person. This would be a great place to spend a few hours walking around, plus I hear there are canoe and kayak launches if you bring your own boat. No swimming though -- apparently there are alligators!
google avatar

Heidi A.

Yelp
Such a cute little hideaway tucked away in FTW where you can get your fix of nature and the outdoors. Grab a map when you pay to get in (I paid $5) and you'll see the different walking/hiking trails and any exhibits they may be hosting currently. I went with my dog and some trails got really muddy but overall the conditions were good. I like that for Texas where I thought I wouldn't be able to do any hiking, I was able to find go on some pretty trails that made me feel I was somewhere else entirely. Come here and roam around!
google avatar

Diana A.

Yelp
I don't know if we went at the wrong time of year, but most of the vegetation looked dead. The only thing I thought was pretty cool were the stone stairs on the caprock trail. The only wildlife we saw were two baby alligators in a tank at the visitor center, ducks, and a few other birds. I enjoyed hiking here, but I wish the environment had been prettier with trees, shrubs, flowers, and so on. The bison were nowhere to be found. No deer. No gators. I was disappointed.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Im lucky enough to live by the nature center and enjoy it every day. Trails are great and always plenty to see. It would be awesome if they would develop an app for the trails and wildlife. $60 membership is well worth it if you come often. Price is steep if you're a family on a budget. Eagle Mountain Park is free and just as nice a few miles away. The new young lady they hired at the gate is very pleasant and friendly. Would love to see her up there on a regular basis. My complaint would be the dogs that are off leash. The fall leaves are amazing.
google avatar

Sheryl M.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. There are miles of trails. Lots of different types of terrain to hike over. Not a lot of parking, coming on a holiday limited the good spots where I usually park. They do not have a lot of trash reciprocals so you do need to pack out your own. They have a few port-a-potties around and they are usually stocked with TP, even on the busy traffic days. Most people who come out here respect the the lower speed limit and do not trash up the trails. The park itself is a five star, some of the participants that do not know trail etiquette can make it less pleasing.
google avatar

Yelp
We took a 5 year old grandson this week so we just did one trail, the Caprock Trail. It is a lovely half-mile or so trail that descends from the caprock to the lake level and back up again. There are so many other trails through all different kinds of habitats and and terrain. My wife and I plan to return this fall when it is cool and explore all the trails. Within this refuge you will find a remarkably diverse ecosystem. So looking forward to returning.

Yelp
I've been here several times and really enjoyed it. But after today I don't think I'll ever go back. I pulled up to the gate, and no one was there. I waited a few minutes and no one showed up, so I left the $6 entry fee on the door handle and started pulling forward. As I pulled up someone popped out of a dark blue truck, jumped in front of my truck, and started shaking her finger at me and waving me to back up. I told her I left $6 for her and she kinda yelled "That's not how this works! You need to back up!" So I backed up, and she said she needed my zip code and put the whole upper half of her body into my truck to stick the receipt on my windshield... as she said "this is so we can take pictures of your truck while you're in the park for our protection." I told her I've never felt so disrespected coming here, and she said I hurt her feelings by not waiting for her to come back. Full on yelling at me by this point. Either she just waking up or she was on some type of substance. Either way, I no longer feel safe keeping my vehicle in this park after this threat. Still shaken up by the whole thing.

Yelp
Wow this place is a jewel!! Truly amazing and such a great place to breathe and relax! Not to mention, a great opportunity to get a good workout in. Plus as most of you know, I love to take pictures!!! So it was very nice to be able to take some great nature pics. My wife and I took our two year old daughter and there were plenty of trails that were age appropriate. I hope you take your own personal journey here and get lost in the wild! Happy yelping!

Yelp
Love going to the nature center. Have been many times. Enjoy the interpretive center and exhibits. Lots of trails with varying degrees of difficulty.

Yelp
Always a fun experience. Nice and helpful Employees. Tons to see. Many walking trails get a map! Beautiful Wildlife and nature.

Yelp
Great trails for walking and very informative classes. It was great to see a wide variety of birds occasionally stopping in my yard when I lived across the highway. :)

Yelp
Needed to do an updated review to reflect the fact that thy have 12 trails available so awesome!
google avatar

Allison T.

Yelp
Awesome nature center and looks like awesome hiking trails. Since it's summer time in Texas our short hike around the nature center was just HOT. With two kids under three it was just enough for us. This place would be awesome to hike early mornings to beat some of the heat as they open at 7am. Otherwise I would save this place for late fall/winter/early spring for long hikes.
google avatar

Christian M.

Yelp
5$ to get in...but it is very nice if you want to get away from people and be in nature. Nice for walking in the woods...or along the waters. People bring kayaks to be on the water. They have buffalos but everytime i am here they seem to hide from me. The parking areas are pretty small..if you do not come early you will have a hard time parking.
google avatar

Marlone W.

Yelp
Really nice place, not a lot of people know of this place so it's not crowded, close to home (Roanoke) no jet skis or motorboats, just kayaks, canoe etc.. peaceful. They have a protected wetland marsh lots of wildlife (deers etc ) they have a buffalo sanctuary but we have been there 3times still haven't seen one ;( great hiking trails just an awesome day trip , do wish I could do some primitive camping there. Family friendly.
google avatar

Cindi W.

Yelp
We hiked the Canyon Ridge trail. It's moderate and a bit challenging a perfect workout at 3.25 miles one way so about 6 1/2 miles round trip unless you do the road or river trail back and then it's 5.75 miles. It is a super trail with lovely CCC structures on it. Full of history. I also hiked the Wild Plum trail and the Capsic trail. The nature center is great but no post cards oh well. Lots of interactive displays. Oh one thing on The Canyon Ridge trail you can get turned around a bit at one of the structures. So be aware cause there is no signage.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
I can't believe I have never been here. Took my 3yr old on a nature walk to explore & he loved it! There is a small trail perfect for him half a mile. The view was beautiful, lots of critters, bugs, & fungi, logs to play on etc. The staff was friendly & love how they do programs for toddlers every so often. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they have. It's worth what ever cost. Too much of Fort Worth is city! This place is awesome.

Yelp
If you live in the DFW area and are looking for a fun half day roadtrip/nature excursion, I highly recommend going to the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. The entry is very cheap per person, and once you park your car, you can walk through the self guided miles upon miles of trails alongside nature and just get lost in the world around you. Also, best part about this place is 100% the prairie dog town. You have to approach the area slowly and not move much once at the bench so as not to alert the sentry on duty, but if you're lucky you can see this amazing little rodent weirdos just L.I.V.I.N. I think I spent a solid hour watching them scurry around the last time I was there. If the meek shall inherit the Earth, I hope to God that's slang for prairie dogs, because I love them more than veggie burgers.
google avatar

Spencer M.

Yelp
Outstanding hiking trails with great elevation changes and not very crowded at all. Dog friendly as long as they're on a leash. I didn't even know this place existed in Fort Worth.

Yelp
Beware of ticks! Me and two friends visited the nature center and refuge on the morning of Saturday, May 26th, 2018. We took three dogs with us. We hiked from the visitor center to and around the Crosstimbers trail. One of our water breaks, we noted ticks on our dogs. Nothing think much of it, we removed the ticks before they bit in and kept on our way, minding to keep to the trail, which is not very grassy out on this trail. It was a beautiful hike and we were amply prepared, with hiking boots, hiking socks and myself wearing long pants and Repel with 40% DEET. Unfortunately, though, we continued to pick ticks off ourselves and our dogs. Still, days later, with several baths between us all, we continue to discover ticks on our pets and now in our homes (we live in urban environments). Lone-star ticks (pictured) to be exact, ranging in diameter from 0.5mm to 1 cm!! In all, I've removed close to TWENTY from myself and my dogs since seeing the first one. I'd recommend not taking dogs on this trail, and check young children thoroughly before trekking home. Once home, leave equipment outside in a garbage bag for 24-48 hours, allowing direct sunlight, in order to kill any unwanted guests from entering your home. Make sure your pets are covered with prophylactic treatment and get ticks off as soon as possible, using measures to remove the tick in one piece (google it). I don't want this to discourage people from going to the nature center because it really is a beautiful area. Just be prepared and don't take for granted how close to the city it is!

Bridget B.

Yelp
I came here for a nice hike today with my dog since it was so nice. out drove 30 minutes. And I wanted to go to the nature center building and look around so I brought my dog inside with me and walked around and looked around for about five minutes till the front desk lady noticed that I have my dog with me she looked at me and said. "there are no dogs allowed in here you're gonna have to leave" first of all the inside of the building it's nasty and dirty it's seriously worse than a heavily used porta potty that hasn't been cleaned in two months. I'll have them know that I will never be coming back because of how rude the lady was at the front desk
google avatar

Remy N.

Yelp
Having lived in the DFW area for a few months, I began noticing that it is very difficult to escape the urban/suburban jungle. For miles in every direction is some sort of concrette sprawl. While I can't say the Nature Center compares to more natural settings for its beauty, it does have plenty of hiking trails that allows for an afternoon's escape from the Metroplex. On our 2 mile hike down the 'Oak Motte' trail, we saw buffalo, prairie dogs, deer, bunnies, and an assortment of beautiful butterflies and dragon flies. We ventured over to the Marsh Boardwalk on the west fork of the Trinity river. Here we saw some interesting raptors (perhaps a Mississippi Kite?), Kingfishers, Egrets, fish, and enjoyed the cool breeze coming off a wide area of the river. I recommend this place for a quick escape. Bring sunscreen and bug repellent! This is probably not the best place to be on a bright summer day either! We were lucky to catch a break in the weather when we went. We'll be back later in the fall!

Yelp
A slice of Colorado not too far away. Great place to just get outdoors and hike. Everything from an easy boardwalk hike over level ground to a 3 mile more challenging trek on the Canyon Ridge Trail thru hills and canyons that overlook the beautiful lake. Nothing extreme but totally enjoyable.

Yelp
It was scorching hot outside as usual for Texans. Its heat was creating waves you can see coming off of the hoods of cars. However, there is one place you townies can go...here to the nature preserve. I really recommend coming at least once when you move into the city. This place is like a jungle in the most pleasant sense. Once you step in, you feel the temperature is cool and moist. The whole forest feels like someone plugged in a low running AC. All around you is green foliage, interesting plants dotted along the way, and small creatures like the deer mice. We ran the turtle trail, which is marked throughout the trail. There are miles and miles of trails here for you to explore and come multiple times to. Sure, if you are afraid of getting lost, keep your map close with you and stick to a big trail. As for pricing, it's 5 dollars a person to get in unless you fall into kids or veterans for a discount.

Yelp
I'm always looking for new places to wander around. Since I'm new here, that's easy to do. I found the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge listed on fortworth.com and it looked interesting (and cheap). According to their site they had a nature hike scheduled for today that looked relatively easy so I was in. I feel compelled to say I'm not really a hiker. I like to go for walks in nature but by no stretch of the imagination am I a hike out 10 miles into the wilderness kind of gal. I walked into the center and it is a nice, airconditioned space. They have some small exhibits of animals. I totally lucked out. I was the only one who signed up for the hike so it was me and the naturalist which was awesome. The boardwalk trail was nice and relatively easy. There was a lot to see including a snowy egret. They have a lot of things planned during the week so there's a lot of opportunities to do things. There are quite a few different trails too.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came into check out the park. We approached the gate 45 mins before it closed to be told it was closed. My girlfriend had to go to the restroom and approached what looked like a restroom for the booth to be yelled at to turn around and leave. That was what clenched this terrible experience. I can't believe she yelled at us and told us to leave. We had plenty of time for her to go to the restroom and make a few miles. Please save yourself the time and heartache. The trails looked beautiful in all trails and we were excited to hit up the canyon ridge trail but we are never going back and you shouldn't either. Never go here. The hours are terrible too. Why close at 5. Also if you have an iPhone you will be sent to a random road that will never take you to the park.
