Fort Worth Zoo

This is one of the best zoos I've been too, even being under construction. Lots of cool animals to see and a great way to get your steps in! Unfortunately they don't open until 10am, but it was also the most crowded zoo I've been to. People pushing into you and stepping on front of you to see the exhibit. But other than that not bad. Also you can bring your own drinks and snacks in. So you don't have to buy a $5 bottle of water.

The best zoo we've visited in Texas. The animals look well cared for and the staff have multiple shows and exhibits throughout the day that are entertaing and informative. Everything is lush and green and there is shade everywhere from all the well cared for trees providing shade at every part of the zoo. There are a wide variety of animals to see and several critically endagered specimens like gharials, orangutans, clouded leapard, and red wolves. Expect typical food and drink pricing, but this doesn't mar the zoo's overall beauty and educational value.

I have been to zoos across America and this by far is the best I’ve been to. Clean, thoughtfully laid out with misting and covered areas that blend in with the environment for you to view the animals. The food was really good and not expensive. So many options also. Now let’s talk animals. Other zoos I’ve been to have their animals in small spaces and you can tell they’re under distress. The animals here are vibrant and healthy! They are so fun to watch. The babies are adorable 🥰 My son and I had the best time here yesterday. I live 2 hours away but am going to get a membership because it’s just that great of a place. Well done to the owners!

We had so much fun at this Zoo! It is so large you could literally spend all day here. It was very busy but as expected for a holiday week. We truly enjoyed the animals and the beautiful day!

The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best zoos we have been to. We were very impressed with the enclosures and habitats the animals have. The facility is clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly. Lots of animals to see. We also loved seeing all the improvements they are making to better the environment for the animals. Will definitely be back!

This zoo is worth visiting. It has a lot to offer. The theming throughout the zoo makes it really nice. It is clean with lots of paths and lots of plants. We live in Dallas, but it is really worth the drive all the way across time. We really enjoyed the barn play area as well. It has a nice slide and lots of entertaining activities. One thing to keep in mind is that if you go on the weekend parking is absolutely crazy. We actually parked outside the zoo and walked to the zoo. We will definitely be back soon

Amazing zoo! Some very rare animals, easy to view enclosures, and you can tell they care about the well being of the animals. Also very interactive for kids! Absolutely recommend for all.

All I can say is WOW me and the family was in the dallas/fw area for a small vacation while headed home from a job in West texas. And it was a toss up between dallas zoo or fort worth. Well we decided on fort worth and we can't say we have any complaints! It was BEAUTIFUL The exhibits where very nicely set up, the animals where super active and beautifully taken care of. I think I may have enjoyed it more than the kiddos!

What a remarkable, aesthetically-pleasing zoo. Clean, well-funded and distinctly more sophisticated and enjoyable than its Dallas counterpart. I'll add myself to the list of endorsees and say the Fort Worth Zoo is immaculate and highly recommended. While I generally lean Dallas in the Dallas-Fort Worth rivalry, there's no question Fort Worth wins hands down in this competition. If it's an either-or question: Fort Worth Zoo? Yes. Dallas Zoo? Pass. Now, with that, going to both and comparing them is an interesting experiment. Dallas Zoo has plenty of attributes. So it is safe to say some of Texas' deep pockets should take a look at Dallas Zoo and help it reclaim its past glory. It's nice, but needs a fresh monied infusion. I'm sure, in time, that will probably happen.

What a phenomenal Sunday visit we recently experienced at the Fort Worth Zoo. We were enjoying an unseasonably warm February day in Texas. It was forecasted to be sunny and 80 degrees. We couldn't pass up a day like that to enjoy a day at the zoo. We arrived right when the zoo open at 10:00 discovering lots and lots of other folk decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather. My wife and I loved seeing so many children and families at the entrance. It was going to be a glorious day. The Ft. Worth Zoo is considered one of the world class zoos. Each and every time we visit, it is always so clean and well kept. We're members of the zoo so we "sailed" through the entrance line. The first exhibit, right inside the gate, is the gorilla habitat. The Ft. Worth Zoo as quite a "troop" of gorillas Including Elmo the silverback and Gracie the lead female. We learned at the gorilla briefing that Elmo wasn't in charge of the troop, Gracie, the female was, very interesting. What caught our eye was Bobo, the 2 year old. We couldn't take our eyes off of him. He was constantly doing somersaults throughout the habitat. He was SO cute and everyone was enthralled. We strolled through the zoo checking out all the new exhibits until finally we were hungry. We decided to head down to the Texas Wild where the Bluebonnet Cafe was located. It had 3 choices to dine at Dickey's BBQ. Pizza Hut and Ranch Grill. That would give us plenty of choices. It was such a gorgeous day, we took our time strolling to the Texas Wild area. With the crowds at the zoo, the lines for food were a bit long but the food service personnel were doing their best to take care of customers in a very efficient manner. The line was moving along swiftly. My wife decided to order a Pizza Hut Personal Sized Supreme Pan Pizza. I decided on a Cheeseburger and onion rings from the Ranch Grill. After a short wait, we headed out to the very clean and organized dining area. The burgers come "undressed" except for lettuce and tomato. Out in the dining area is an incredible condiment bar with everything the is needed to enjoy a well-dressed burger. The burger was seasoned perfectly and served at the perfect temp. The standout of my meal were the onion rings. I don't believe they breaded them on site, but they were some of the most incredible onion rings I've every had. They were panko breaded and fried to perfection, so crisp and tender. To top off our afternoon visit we stopped at the Blue Bell cream parlor for a treat before working our way back to the entrance. It doesn't get any better than Bleu Bell. What an awesome visit we had at the Ft. Worth Zoo. If you haven't visited this jewel, don't wait go and enjoy your experience with your family.

We took my daughter here for the first time and we are sure glad we did. The amount of exhibits and animals to see is amazing. Better than our home zoo location for sure. They have an option to feed the giraffes if you're up to it. My daughter thought she was until the giraffe got up close. They have a carousel, train, and petting zoo in the kids area which we took advantage of. We would definitely get a membership if we lived closer.

I finally visited the Fort Worth Zoo, and it did not disappoint! The animal collection is fantastic, and the exhibits are thoughtfully designed to give you a close-up look at a wide variety of species. One of my favorite experiences was the goat petting area, such a fun and interactive spot for all ages! Another highlight was spotting a gharial gracefully floating in the aquarium. It was such a fascinating sight and definitely not something I would have expected. I also noticed that some exhibits are under construction, and it's exciting to know they're expanding and creating new spaces for the animals. It's great to see the zoo continually improving and prioritizing both visitor experience and animal welfare. The zoo is well maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you're in the area, this is a must visit destination!

Went to the Fort Worth Zoo yesterday with family since it was such a beautiful warm day for February. First time visitor for this particular zoo. Let me just say that this zoo is huge. You definitely get your money's worth. It's also very open and very well kept. There were an array of animals from elephants, giraffes, tigers, cheetahs, to penguins and flamingos. You can even ride the train which is a great way to rest at the end of your visit as it drops you off near the front of the entrance. Zookeepers were friendly and knowledgeable, and the animals looked healthy and well kept. This is definitely a place that you easily spend a couple of hours at with friends or family.

My friend from Church had been wanting to come here and so did I. Columbus Day was a holiday so, I took the day off and we headed to the Fort Worth Zoo. It was crowded seems like everyone had the same idea as us but, it went smooth. Parking was free and there were several people guiding the way and showing you exactly where to park. There a designated trail to get to the zoo too. There were no ticket lines either! Most of the animals were asleep. The Zoo is large and it's filled with lots of shade and benches along the way to rest. They have added lots of sections for young children. Don't forget to walk across the Swinging Swamp Bridge! They have a train ride for $5.00 . However, you don't get to see any animals along the way and it takes you to the front of the zoo so, you can exit. Even though it was crowded it was a great experience. I highly recommend the First Worth Zoo. Tickets are $20.00 for Adults. Seniors are $16. I believe Children under two are free. So head to the Zoo.

Go on a Mon. if you can. There was barely anyone at the zoo today. It felt like it was deserted! there wasn't any trouble finding a parking spot. It felt like a Ghost Town. It was only on our ride down that the driver told us the zoo gets super packed, especially on the free days on Wednesday. We went too late in the afternoon, and most if the animals were sleeping. It's better to go either early in the morning when the zoo first opens and the animals are eating breakfast, or later in the evening when they are eating dinner, There's plenty of shade at the zoo. This is one of the top rated zoos in America. For $6 you can purchase lettuce leaves to feed the giraffes. It was a highlight of our experience. Two grown adults went with us, and we saw everything in about 2 1/2 hours.

Awesome experience!!!!! Help here was incredible. Three young gentleman named Tate, Armando and Manuel were a blessing. They helped me with every question I had and were very attentive. They took time out of their lunch to help me out. Could not have asked for better employees!!!

The zoo is under a lot of construction leaving too many empty exhibits.We went on 1/2 price day so it only cost 20 instead of 40,so consider that before you go.Also we got there at 10(opening), no big animals! Little kids and older folks are your a.m. visitors ,we want to see all of the anilmals too.I was told most come out around noon.Then you should open at noon! Cant wait til the zoo is finished with all of the exhibits under construction.Love the train ride from back to front.Dont forget Texas fudge,yummy!

We were in Dallas from San Antonio.We almost went to the Dallas zoo but were told the Fort Worth zoo is far better.For us the highlight was the monkeys. We had never seen a gorilla up close and it was sure an experience.the habitats most of the animals were in were very beautiful.

We FINALLY bought the zoo membership! Ahhh, *happy dance* So today was our first day to use the membership. It was an easy process. At the gate they scan your mobile card if you don't have a physical one. Once you get to the gate, go to Member Services and have a physical card printed. They take your picture so you're protected against someone else trying to use your card. We always enjoy visiting the Zoo. I can't wait for the Splash Zone to open for the season. It'll be our second home :) WE LOVE THE FW ZOO!

So proud of our amazing zoo! One of the best in the country. Friendly staff and happy animals always makes it a fun visit for adults & especially with the kiddos. Love that there is multiple spots all around to sit to relax or eat. Really nice to be able to take own food & water in to make it extra family & visitor friendly. Recent completed renovations was great to see. Love having this option that brings such happiness to all ages.

I'm from Florida where the soo is not great at all!!! This by far is the cleanest zoo I've seen! The animals were all out not hiding and they look happy we had a great time best part is there's plenty of trees so It was nice and shady . They have a petting zoo with goats my grandson enjoyed that . They do have little roses u got pay extra it's 5 bucks for each . I saw a couple of people with coolers not sure if they are allowed but this would have been a great idea . Will be back'

Half the park is closed with full price for tickets. If you're going to close half the park for remodeling, at least half price the tickets or somewhat a discount. Really wish it could've been listed on the site about the remodeling. Plus the reptile/amphibian exhibits inside REEKS of very strong mold. Wouldn't bring children in there; gave my family and I such strong headaches minutes later.

Family season pass worthy! This is one of my grandchildren's' favorite outdoor activities!!! It is by far one of the best zoos across the country and I have been to quite a few! It is an enjoyable walk! We put in over 10k steps in a few hours viewing the fantastic habitats they have for the animals! I like that part the best! I believe in 2020 it was voted #1 in the country! It is even more enjoyable when it is cool outside because even the animals need a break from the heat, LOL... Family season passes make a great Christmas gift too!

I LOVE FORT WORTH ZOO!!!!! We have a pass so we take our daughter here all the time! She loves all the animals. She loves feeding the giraffe. She loves seeing the elephant and their new habitat. Her favorite of all is the flamingo habitat in the beginning of the park though. You can get so close to them, she can stare at those flamingos for hours if we let her lol. I love how you can bring your own ice chest here. But even if you chose to eat here their food pricing are so reasonable! No overpriced food so it's a good thing! Oh and also on the summer time, is not as hot here because they have so many trees. So that's a plus!

Perhaps the nicest place to walk in Fort Worth. Nice and shady with pretty trees. Had a nice visit. The giraffe area was a neat habitat with the vultures and ostriches. Lots of neat animals. It be nice if the opened at 9am instead of 10am to beat the heat. Lots of visitors and full of kids.

Beautiful zoo, and very well maintained! If I had to make the choice between going to the Dallas zoo and the Ft. Worth Zoo, I'd deff make the trip out here instead! We had a couple hours to kill prior to our event, so we decided to go to the zoo and spend the day outside. Since it was a beautiful day, everyone had the same idea that day LOL. It was PACKED! Parking was free. Our tickets were $1 less because we purchased them online. I would recommend doing so because the lines at the zoo may be very long!

This zoo is amazing! I'd say it's been my favorite in all of Texas so far. It was the perfect size and the layout designed was almost perfect. All of the animals looked healthy and happy. My family and I went on New Year's Day and it wasn't crowded, plus we got the Wednesday half off coupon. There's also a kids area that includes a petting zoo, stores and interactive indoor playground area which my child loved. The cherry on top was the food, they have Pizza Hut and Dickeys which is always so good compared to other zoos with subpar food. Honestly, my family and I really want to come back soon!

We had the best time here with family! Took our 18month old, he loved it and even us parents had a great time. Don't forget to stop by the goat petting zoo, you get to brush and hang out with the goats. They are so fun! Bring a personal and in the summer though, gets hot!

The cost to see a few animals it's $5 parking very congested parking, $56 entrance fees two adult and a 3yr old child, $5 per ride on carousel/train and the worst part is $6 for three tiny romaine lettuce leaves(bundle). Most of the animals look depressed, lions missing,hyena hidden. I can't name one thing that makes it worth the price. This zoo is not properly maintained and managed.

Came to this zoo while visiting. Had planned on going to Dallas zoo but people who live in Dallas said it is sad and don't go to it (reviews on Yelp also recommended this). Sadly we got to the zoo about 2pm and they close at 4pm so we did not have a lot of time to see the animals. We saw just about everything while we were there though. It is a super cute zoo and has a whole area dedicated to Texas. Admission was reasonable, they had the pressed penny machines (which my kid loves), staff were friendly. It didn't seem super crowded when we were there. It wasn't too cold but there were a good bit of animals we did not see (they were inside) but the animals we did get to see we saw them. The mountain lion was so close compared to how we see it at our zoo so that was neat. We saw a vulture doing what vultures do and had to walk carefully to avoid being dropped on. I really enjoyed the thought that was put into the design of the exhibits and themes. The texas area has an area that looks like an old school downtown main street (from a western). The area where you can pet water creatures was in a boat. The animals all look well taken care of. Stopped at the gift shop outside the zoo to grab a pressed penny book and magnet and while it was crowded the lines went fast. Parking was reasonable $5 and admission for adults was $20 and $16 for kids. We just walked up and bought tickets there. Overall glad I made it here to see a different zoo (for some reason I really enjoy zoos but my husband does not). If I were in the area I would come back and have more time to spend looking at animals (any maybe in warmer weather)!

That train rides is worse thing the zoo offers and it cost 5buck to see nothing and to top it off.. 5 bucks each way omg.. I want my money back for that ride.. I guess I was the dummy cause I was literally the only person on the train... You save a dollar ordering your tickets on line.. the it's self was pretty cool.. other then that ridiculous train ride

Pleased with all aspects of our visit to the Fort Worth Zoo. There was quite a line of cars heading into the parking lot on this beautiful weekend day. Probably took about 15 minutes to park with most of that time in line to pull into the zoo property. One into the lot everything was smooth with the acceptable line to buy tickets and the person at the ticket counter was very accommodating in looking up our discount for a reciprocal account with another organization in Florida where we are members. Ended up being half price. The flow of the zoo was logical and easy to follow. All of the exhibits were well done. A special treat was the giraffe area and the ability to feed the giraffes. Also really liked the great apes and the large cats. Didn't try any food, so no comments on that. Plenty of shaded areas and benches to rest and get out of the sun.

The Fort Worth zoo has been one of our favorite outings as a family and field trips with the school. We love seeing the animals in their natural habitat as this zoo continues to improve all exhibits. Every exhibit has a plaque to explain interesting facts about the animal and some let you feed the animal. There's a petting zoo that's a favorite among small children and big kids like me, they also have a fun playground area for kids to run around in. They have a train that goes from one end of the zoo to the other for a fee. During the summer months you can cool off at the splash park (admission required). They also have plenty of bathrooms, an area for nursing moms and eateries. It's Texas which means hot weather so there's misters throughout the park to help keep you cool. There's something for everyone to have a fabulous time.

Solid zoo! Really enjoyed it. It's small but it's not crazy expensive. Great animals and well designed! Make sure to bring your walking shoes!

It's the zoo!!! Let's start with some of the negatives: Some of the exhibits were closed for remodeling (lions and such). There were a crazy amount of bees (unsure if there is anything they can do about that. The penguin display smelled horrible. The area where the reptiles are was hit with no circulation. However it's the zoo... and it was a nice day to be there. There were so many people but I feel like we were able to see so much!

Best zoo I have ever been to. The enclosures are so beautiful, the attention to detail is amazing and the staff is very friendly. All the animals look healthy and seem to be in good spirits. 10/10 would recommend.

BEST ZOO I've ever been to!! I took a vacation to Dallas to see my family and grandkids. And we decided to take them to the Fort Worth Zoo since none of them had been there before. They said it was the best zoo and they had so much fun. If you buy online it's $1 off per ticket, if you go on Wednesday it's half off. We paid full price and that was fine considering they don't charge for you to bring a cooler in to eat lunch. We was there almost 6hrs and I'm pretty sure we didn't see everything. Lots of walking and they have misting stations so you can cool down. We filled up our waters every chance we got. Those are located at the restrooms by the way. I highly recommend going to this zoo over any other local one to DFW.

By far my favorite zoo!! We go to a zoo every family vacation, and none of them compare to the Fort Worth Zoo location!! We use pogo pass to get in free, which makes it even better!

Visited on a Monday during spring break, I was expecting it to be extremely packed and I was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't nearly as crowded as I anticipated. Was really excited to see the new additions including the flamingos, baby gorilla, giraffe, and elephant. We got to see many of the animals around feeding time (late afternoon) and got to see some awesome interactions. The ground were very clean and maintained. Was a little disappointed how much of the zoo is under construction (zebras, tiger, lions missing) but hopefully will be back soon! Overall great visit! Reasonable pricing too. Would recommend a visit to the zoo! Unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow video otherwise I would upload the videos of the baby animals.

This zoo is a great family friendly activity. There's a good amount of exhibits including hands on activities. The grounds are well maintained. It would help if there were more signs. You'll need to use a map to ensure you find everything. They are in transition and a few exhibits such as the wild cats area are closed.

Absolutely one of the best shoes I've ever been to very clean place had tremendous animals to look at the food was amazing not to mention they had Dippin Dot ice cream. Love me some Dippin Dots.

I love this zoo! Not as big as the San Diego Zoo or the Cheyenne Zoo in Colorado Springs. But there's definitely a lot of routes to explore. I love their reptile exhibit. You can tell that these reptiles are very well taken care of!

I was really impressed by this zoo, you are able to see everything in a short period of time. There was lots of picnic tables and you can bring your own food in it seemed? the food options for purchase are very affordable too.

My family and I visit from California. I heard this zoo was great, and it sure did deliver. There were so many animals to see. My kids and I enjoyed every bit of our visit.

The Zoo is lovely, lots of shade and the animal exhibits are wonderful. We really enjoyed our trip today. Only complaint is that it's not truly accessible - we wished more doorways were automatic for ease with strollers/wheelchairs. Also would be neat if there was a marked path on the walkway for a "see it all in one loop" type way because the signs are good but not clear and we found ourselves confused at times.

We've really grown to love the Fort Worth Zoo these past two years. Looking for a good spot to get outdoors (covid) and find something fun as a family, the zoo has it all. We always knew that we had one of the better zoos around, but we really didn't realize how much we enjoyed it until the pandemic hit. The Zoo has done a great job of maintaining and upgrading their exhibits as well providing plenty of diversity. One thing our son loves to do is of course stop and feed the giraffes at the African Savanna as well as taking the Train to Texas Wild. Another aspect I've always enjoyed about the zoo has actually been the Texas Wild exhibit as few zoos feature the indigenous species so well. We always cap off a trip to the Texas Wild by visiting the touch tank, which makes us excited for the next trip to the Texas Coast. Last year we saw the zoo launch their new Elephant Springs and I would say that is also a must-see, every time. Again, few zoos have better elephant exhibits and with plenty of water to keep cool, the elephants are always in view. Coupled with the fairly new Stringray Cove, there are plenty of opportunities for the little ones to get up close to their favorite animals. So I must say that the Fort Worth Zoo definitely lives up to its billing as the country's best zoo. To whit, I sent a family picture of us at the zoo to a friend in San Diego and he actually thought we were at the San Diego zoo, usually the perennial winning zoo nationwide. I cannot recommend enough how great of an idea it is to get a zoo membership and I also recommend, especially during summer, getting to the zoo right at opening. Finally, finish of your zoo trip next to the grill by the Mola to enjoy a nice lunch amongst the turtles and crocs.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the zoo. This park has a lot of exhibits and was the park was fairly clean. The food was decent park good priced accordingly but I did appreciate that you can bring in your own lunch if you wanted. They had a couple designated picnic areas that I thought were nice and secluded if you wanted to make those plans. Security was seen throughout the park to ensure safety. Lastly there is a lot of free parking areas that weren't that far of a walk from the main entrance.

This zoo is amazing! Lots of exhibits and entertaining animals! We went on an overcast day and it was the perfect weather.

Great care of the animals saw my first Komodo dragon. Easy public transit from the airport.

Loved the zoo here in Ft Worth. It was a last minute trip so, we only spent a couple hours inside. Definitely we'll come back again because we didn't experience all the parts. What we did see was what you'd expect from a proper zoo. This zoo has plenty of attractions for everyone and when the weather is nice, it's beautiful. Must see and would recommend to everyone who comes to Dallas Ft Worth area.

We love the Fort Worth Zoo! We get Pogo passes at least once a year and always use our zoo visit! It has a great layout, there's no shortage of animals to see, and you can even feed the giraffes (which is always a highlight). It's definitely worth a visit if you get a chance to go.

Such a beautiful Zoo. You can tell they really take care of their animals. Their areas are so clean and staff is very helpful. Best Zoo in the DFW area. You can even interact with some of the animals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this zoo. The food is overpriced. But other than that, it was a great experience. I hope to visit again soon.
