Fortune Fried Chicken’s Thai flavours are MIA - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Fortune favours the bold and, coincidentally, we favour fried chicken, which is exactly what you’ll find at this quick and casual Bangkok street food-inspired spot in Spitalfields Market. Fortune Fried Chicken’s menu is a medley of som tam dressings, pickle-crowned fried chicken burgers, and larb salads with, you guessed it, fried chicken. But outside of the nam jim dipping sauce, any Thai flavours are MIA. If you’re in the area, you should stop by for one thing and one thing only—the golden, crispy pineapple pie slice. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Food Rundown Fortune Fried Chicken Burger The rice flour coating on the fried chicken has a subtle crispiness that will speak to anyone who’s into a panko crunch, but this is one sad bun. And frankly, the watery salad is of a similar melancholy disposition that even, old faithful, pickles can’t save. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Fortune Fried Chicken While we’re into the crispy rice flour coating, the inside of this chicken is pretty dry. You’ll need to lean heavily on the tangy nim jam sauce for a flavour boost. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Pineapple Pie A pie with the sunshine spirit of a piña colada. We have mentally marked this dessert for the next time the weather is being British and we need a dose of fruity, fried sugar. It could be hotter, but so could we. photo credit: Fortune Fried Chicken" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Absolutely delicious fried chicken i ever had in London. I ordered a spicy Bangkok burger and half fried chicken, and it was perfect in the test, quality, and quantity. The price list is also reliable. Highly recommend this place.

I'm always keen to try out a new chicken place and walking through Spitalfields market, was pulled in by the 50% offer as this place has recently opened. Order the Spicy Chicken Burger and the Fried Half Chicken. Service was relatively quick though finding a space to eat in the bustling Spitalfields wasn't! The burger was indeed spicy but the sauce didn't have that much else going for it - analogous to a chicken shop burger sauce with more heat. The chicken burger itself was fine, not the juiciest and little flavour in the coating. The half chicken was juicier than the burger and cut up into handy bite size pieces. While the skin was recently crispy, there again was just no flavour in the coating. Or indeed the chicken itself. Very plain. The flavour was heavily reliant on the additions that were added on top of the chicken and the accompanying vinegar dressing which was indeed delicious. It was a good munch at half price but nothing special. However at full price it leaves a lot to be desired.

Really good fried chicken wings and tenders. Shake shake fries are a must too!

Tried the fortune burger (£6) - good value for money and decent size but the fried chicken batter was chewy, quite dry, definitely not fresh and quite lukewarm. The sauce, salad and bread was stock standard and what you expect for £6. Staff seem friendly and you order through a machine which is easy to use.

Tried this fried chicken spot recently. The fries were cooked well—crisp and hot—but surprisingly bland despite the heavy seasoning. The chicken itself had good flavor, but it was nearly undercooked and lacked the expected crunch. The breading was so thin it barely felt fried. A bit disappointing overall.

I absolutely loved the Bangkok Tofu Burger and fries! As a vegetarian, it’s not always easy to find a really good burger, but this one was absolutely amazing. The flavors were spot on, and the texture was perfect. It’s a must-try for any vegetarian looking for something satisfying and delicious. Plus, the location is great—easy to get to and has a nice vibe. Highly recommend!

Osin you are a genius. Fried chicken is great, spicy is perfect. Its not too hot but enough for a kick. Lemonade has a good citrus flavour

There’s better fried chicken available in the market - this was disappointing. Also the tamarind sauce was weak and watery, and the little cup was barely filled. They offered me another side of sauce but I just didn’t like it- hardly tasted of tamarind or very spicy at all. Also their speaker playing music is right next to where you pick up the order, so it’s impossible to hear the staff.
