We stayed at Foss Hotel Glacier Lagoon expecting a high-end experience, and while the hotel *looks* luxurious, a few practical things were pretty disappointing. The room itself was beautiful with all the small touches that make a place feel premium: a coffee machine, nice toiletries, comfy slippers, and a robe. So, from a comfort and design standpoint, it really checks out.||That said, the location and weather make some missing facilities feel like a big oversight. There were no towel warmers or heated coat hangers in the room, which honestly felt impractical given how wet everything gets after a day out exploring glaciers or waterfalls. You end up with damp clothes and nowhere to dry them, which isn’t great when it’s freezing outside. ||Food-wise, it was another letdown. The restaurant menu is very limited, especially if you’re vegetarian or vegan. There’s also no microwave facility to make or reheat your own food, which means you’re basically stuck ordering from the hotel restaurant every time especially when it’s the only property in that area.||This hotel only makes sense if you’re planning to *stay in* and enjoy the building itself rather than use it as a base for exploring. Everything about it is beautiful and relaxing, but not practical considering how wet the weather is. There’s no covered porch to help load/unload on a rainy (aka usual) day, no easy way to manage wet clothing, and no nearby alternative for dining. So unless you’re prepared to spend a fair bit at the restaurant and just enjoy the aesthetics, it might not be the most convenient choice for exploring Iceland.
