Fossil Creek Hotel & Suites/Conference Center I-70

I drove 11 hours from Kentucky and wanted a room with a quiet peaceful place to sleep. Fossil Creek Hotel and suites right off the interstate. I had a pool and a hot tub so I decided on that. Hotel receptionist gave me a room and I checked out the pool and everything and I told her I’ve been driving 11 hours and so she said hey I’m gonna give you the Jacuzzi suite so I floated in that hot water and it was so wonderful. It made my sleep so great and it was quiet and not many people there And I actually got in it this morning before I drove to Denver. The breakfast was great too everything you could imagine waffles, eggs, sausage biscuits, and gravy, yogurt, muffins, bread, bagels, coffee, orange, cranberry apple juice, and there weren’t many people there like at best Western or comfort Inn. It was nice and very peaceful. Of course it’s an older property, but was clean and comfortable

From the moment I arrived at The Fossil Creek Hotel, I was greeted with genuine smiles and a level of hospitality that immediately made me feel I chose the right hotel. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my stay was comfortable — friendly, attentive, and truly professional. The hotel itself was spotless — every hallway, corner, and surface gleamed with care. My room was immaculate, and the linens smelled freshly laundered. It’s clear that cleanliness is a top priority here. Also, one of the unexpected delights was the soft, luxurious fragrance that lingered throughout the lobby and hallways — a subtle perfume that gave the whole place an elegant, inviting feel. It was soothing without being overpowering, and it added a touch of sophistication to the entire atmosphere. I left The Fossil Hotel feeling refreshed, pampered, and genuinely impressed. I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a stay that combines comfort, cleanliness, and charm with a warm human touch.

We rented a conference room for a baby shower! The manager called us beforehand to ask us how many tables we needed and if it was full room or half the room with the divider. I asked them what time I could go there to decorate they said whenever I needed to but it would cost an hourly rate for early access, to decorate, we agreed that it would be a divider and round tables and a few rectangle! When I arrived 2 hours early the door was locked I then went to the front desk and waited too long, as I am paying them for this hour to decorate, I waited while she called the manager for details, and waited and waited! I then was taken back and the room was not set up, the divider was not ready and I helped moved tables to the side of the room we would be using! Remember I am paying them a hourly rate for early access and they have the info for the divided room and the amount of tables! The room was dirty and the floors were not swept, (while we were decorating, anything that dropped on the floor was covered in grass and dirt!) We were running out of decorating time at this point and were rushed to start this baby shower! We went to the front desk to talk to the manager and he was not there so she called him and he said he knew for a fact the room was ready two days ago because they had an event the night before with 50 people and I told him I know I can tell we had to clean tables, move them and settle for dirty floors! He called me a liar and again said he knew it was ready for an event 2 days ago and called me a liar, he was on the phone because he was not on the property! We agreed that we would not pay the fee for early access! So I paid, and cleaned up and left! TWO DAYS LATER THIS MANAGER, tried to charge my card for the early access to the dirty, not divided or set up room and sent me a message calling me a liar that it was set up two days prior but had an event with 50 people the night before! DO NOT RENT THE CONFERENCE ROOM THERE WITH A CREDIT CARD THEY WILL SAY ONE THING THEN WAIT AND CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT LATER! All while calling you a liar when they get caught up in their own nonsense! I have included his message to me after he tried to charge my card again, and got caught, I realize it’s only 30.00 but most would not fight this charge after it went through!, and he seemed very comfortable charging my card again couple of days after the fact!

We stayed at Fossil Creek in Russell, KS on 12/31/25. The front desk is not manned, you have to pick up a phone to call someone to come wait on you. The men take the bags up to the room and one of my sons decides to stay in the room instead of going with us. I tried to call the room and see if everything was OK, the first call went to their AI generated answer, and they could not “guarantee me the favorite room I was requesting”. I tried another number that was listed and a man answered, asked if I could be transferred to Rm###, he informed me that he didn't know if that could be done because no one has ever asked him to do that. Move forward to the next morning, getting ready to leave, going to brush our teeth, shower, get coffee made, etc.. there is no running water at the sink! I proceed to go down to the lobby to check out breakfast. There was 1 lump of eggs that looks like it had been the original lump for the last 2 hrs, like 10 sausages also been heating for a while. 2 yogurts in the fridge with a little milk. pastries, toast and bagels were like 2 pieces of each. So I made a coffee, poured the coffee, added 2 half and half and a sprinkle of sugar, gave it a stir and it looked like mini cottage cheese in my cup. That was it. I grabbed our stuff and left. Never again

I travel I70 a lot. This hotel is a diamond in the rough. The staff is trained properly and extremely friendly. The facilities are well maintained from outside to in. The rooms were SPOTLESS. Cleaned and updated. The breakfast was a great value and a wide variety to choose from. If you need a place to stay along I70, do yourself a favor, and get to this hotel. They are crushing it.

We stayed here because of the reviews that I read. Big mistake. The room was not bad but did have stains on the carpet. I heard the place sold to new owners a couple months ago. The breakfast was horrible. No eggs just sausage that looked half cooked and some potatoes. You have to ring a bell and wait for someone to come to the counter. The one elevator makes noises and looks like it is going to break down any minute. Was not impressed with the hotel. The gas station next door is closed down so not much in the area. Definitely will not stay again.

There was no ice in any ice machine The swimming pool was low on water so it was not filtering the water and the hot tub was also low on water and not filtering water.The sauna sucked and breakfast was terrible. Plus if you rent a room with 2 queen beds you would think that 4 people could stay there with out paying extra for 2 of those people but know and it is not disclosed when you check in. This place has went down hill since it was sold.

We have stayed at Fossil Creek Hotel & Suites many times for both business and family events as we had found this place to be the best choice in the area.. This time, when we arrived, we found the establishment under new ownership. We also noticed how sparkling clean the entire place was. The new owners had taken ownership just a few days prior to our arrival, but we found them friendly and most accommodating to our requests. They seem to be very hard workers and eager to make a success of the hotel. We wish them every good fortune--and this is still the best choice for the area.
