MICHELIN Green Star Restaurants in Estonia

"Located on the top floor of the fine art photography centre Fotografiska Tallinn, within a converted former factory, is this modern restaurant with picture-postcard views out over the Old Town. The view might be the first thing to grab your attention, but your gaze will soon be drawn back to the open kitchen running the length of the room. A concept of ‘Sustainable Pleasure’ leads the way here, with enjoyment always kept to the fore but achieved while following a ‘leaf to root, nose to tail’ ethos and a zero-waste approach. As such, the selection of assured Nordic dishes is concise, using only what's in season and making use of every part of the ingredient. They also offer a 4 course surprise menu showcasing the very latest local produce available. 50% of the dishes on the menu are plant-based and all use top ingredients – 80% of which are local, while also being organic and sustainably grown or raised by small artisan producers who share the same values. Honey is produced in hives on their rooftop and their philosophy ensures that nothing is wasted, with leftover leaven bread used to make flour for the next batch, and mixologists making syrups from freshly pressed juices or, for example, when cleaning a pumpkin. They don't serve bottled water and you won't find any clingfilm, plastic bags or tin foil in the kitchen. Both power and water usage are carefully monitored, and any excess bio-waste that can't be utilised in dishes or drinks is turned into compost overnight. Their team has been trained to see their actions not only as a philosophy but also as a way of life, and they are also dedicated to ensuring that diners fully understand their approach. Yet, despite having put all these initiatives in place, the owners still see the restaurant as only at the beginning of its journey, and continue to adapt and update their everyday practices, striving for excellence when it comes to sustainability." - Elizabeth Winter

"Above the Fotografiska photo gallery sits an equally striking restaurant offering picture-perfect views out across the Old Town; be sure to make the most of this by either starting or ending your night with cocktails in the rooftop bar. A concept of ‘Sustainable Pleasure’ leads the way, with a ‘leaf-to-root, nose-to-tail’ ethos and a zero-waste approach leading the way. Organic, sustainably farmed ingredients are showcased in a highly original selection of assured, understated dishes like sprouted rye and pearl barley risotto or rooftop honey cake. On Sundays they offer a themed brunch." - Michelin Inspector

We enjoyed a break here for a glass of wine and Kate in the day 50% off pastry so I chose an apple tart. Yummy. Service excellent. This cafe is set in the base of the museum, a charming gift shop with prints by famous recording artists, art books, and more. The indoor seating is accessible and we choose accessible outdoor seating amid the vibe in the creative district with street murals, cafes, artists displays.

When I was here there was only 2 of 3 exhibitions open so the price was reduced which was very nice! Small shop with a lot of books and other stuff.

Been to the Stockholm Fotografiska years ago, and once i had the chance to see Tallinns - my expectations were high - and I was not disappointed. Nested in a beautiful reclaimed building, the exhibitions were spot on and how they were highlighted was world class. Also great modern eatery and cafe on the ground floor. Overall great experience!

A very positive experience at Fotografiska Tallinn! Loved the exhibitions. Every moment was interesting, and the quality of the works was outstanding. It was great that the place wasn't crowded. I could really take my time and enjoy the art.

I went here with a friend one wet afternoon to get out of the rain, and it was worth the visit! There were 3 different photographers on show, but I was mostly interested in Elliot Erwitt's images. I very much enjoyed seeing his work up close as it's a style of photography I myself am in to. It's definitely worth a visit while this photographer's shots are still on display here. :)

Entry fee 17€ is very expensive. But the three exhibitions worth it. Als the cafe. Nice. Don’t miss to go depoot food trucks and the bazar next door.

Exhibition of Elliot Erwitt was excellent. They have 2 floors of exhibitions and ground floor have restaurant, shop and rest rooms. It’s about 15-20 minutes walk from old town but was worth it. The neighborhood is upcoming as many industrial buildings and warehouses are being converted into residential and restaurants.
