Ohhhh okay folks.
This is my first apartment complex (and hoping my last once I get a house), and I like it enough to the point where I got a new lease for a year in a bigger place. I had one day to decide where I was going to move to, as my next visit to SA was going to be my last visit (was moving from New York). My apartment locator knew I wanted something cheap, safe, but still decent. She didn't hesitate to name Fountainhead, as she said she would put one of her kids if they were in my situation.
Is is a brand-new, 5-star place? No. It's pretty old. But for what they have, they try their best, and I am fortunate to have not had any issues. This is one of the BEST priced complexes I have seen by far, and for their area, that is saying a lot. Could I get a bigger space for the price/maybe just a couple bucks more? Sure, but think about your neighborhood. This is located right by 2 major interstates, the South Texas Medical Center, 24 hour eateries, a mall, etc. Think about it.
Their studio apartment comes fully furnished (of course bring your toaster and etc.), and so I was able to pack my belongings into my car and head on down. All the apartments have washer/dryer in the unit, which is a HUGE HUGE PLUS. Some units, you'll luck out on a brand new piece of equipment (for me it was the washer/dryer; in others, it was the fridge, maybe the stove, maybe the dishwasher). I come from up north, where I love my gas range, and these are all electric (bummer, but it's the norm in the South). I have a decent amount of space for the table, couch, armchair, MURPHY bed, bathroom... As a single person, I really could not ask for more.
The leasing office staff have been good to me since day one (there might have been a couple people I had iffyness with, but haven't experienced that more than once in all the calls and drop-ins I've made). My apartment wasn't ready for move in the day I came to town due to misunderstanding, but they offered me a different unit (I passed), and I was even able to put myself up locally in a hotel (by her own account - thank you, again, Nicole). I call every month to confirm my total when I could just add my water bill to my monthly rent, but I've never gotten a grumble over it. When it was time to renew/move/whatever, they left a note AT my door, so people who say they weren't aware of the 30 days do not pay close enough attention. It states it CLEARLY on the lease you sign, and I received my renewal offer with about 2 weeks to spare from my 60 days.
I've only dealt with maintenance for my pre-walkthrough so far, but he was awesome (Hi Bill!) and I'm hoping it remains smoothly for my year+ stay.
*** PLEASE (begging you), upgrade the fitness center. The treadmills are probably the only decent thing left in there. ***
Keep it up, y'all.
