"FireBird Fowl opened earlier this month at 2816 Fairmount Street. The restaurant is a project from David Taylor, the founder of booze-infused ice cream company DizziBrands, Tim Summers, and executive chef Ben Smallman, who most recently led the culinary team at Eataly Dallas. Taylor and Summers initially wanted to open a Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant, but decided to change directions after seeing how many similar restaurants had popped up in Dallas over the past year. There’s still a hot chicken sandwich on the menu, but Firebird’s main focus is now proteins derived from other species of bird, with dishes like emu fajitas with shishito peppers, ostrich lasagna, orange pepper duck tacos served on a duck fat-fried tortilla, and Cornish game hen tikka masala. The restaurant also features desserts from DizziBrands, including rum-soaked cheesecake, margarita key lime pie, cinnamon whiskey apple pie, 8 flavors of boozy popsicles and other alcohol-enhanced frozen treats, some with an ABV of 17%. In keeping with the theme, all of the wines at FireBird are also from bird-themed wineries, including Duckhorn, Decoy, and Blue Ostrich Vineyards. Inside, the restaurant features an upper balcony area known as “the nest” that will feature DJs and audio-visual exhibits. The restaurant also has three patios. FireBird Fowl’s hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 4 p.,m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Lunch hours will be added in the next few weeks." - Brittanie Shey

Fantastic, hip, new restaurant. Was there for the soft open with the Notre Dame Club of Dallas. Tim, the owner, was incredibly welcoming. The menu is exciting, the vibe is chill, and the atmosphere was buzzing! What a great place to gather. Also, loved the balcony! Such a unique design and layout for a property. The menu is stunning. Cannot wait to go back again next time I'm in town. Just kind of ended up there because I was travelling and they had the Notre Dame game. Cannot emphasize enough how great a place this is.

I went with 11 people, so we had a chance to order a lot of different items. I loved everything I tried, but top of my list was the emu meatballs, the queso, and quail poppers. I really want this place to do well, so i can come back for years to come.

Firebird Fowl is at it's very essence... Fowl. Elevated. and wow is it amazing! Each dish, ranging from the utterly divine Loaded Blanco Queso with Ground Ostrich to the deeply satisfying Chicken Orzo Soup (the chicken soup you wished mom would have made!) to my new favorite dish on the planet, sumptuous Orange Pepper Duck Tacos, was seriously on point. The concept of an all-fowl restaurant is refreshing and quite in-tune with current events, environmental and gastronomical especially, and absolutely worth checking out. Every dish I ate was simply rife with umami and so much flavor! Be sure to sample one of the most divine cocktails you've ever had as well, made with in-house infused tequilas. Owners Tim Summers and David Taylor were such a delight to meet this evening and their warmth and enthusiasm is absolutely infectious! Do yourself a favor and check out Firebird Fowl as soon as possible.

Such a cute new place! The food was so unique and really tasty! I’m a huge queso fanatic and the ostrich queso was 12/10!!! The ostrich stuff mushrooms with the Texas white BBQ sauce was also so good. Service was awesome and even talked to the owner a bit. Also a cute outdoor space that will be so nice when the weather cools off. We will definitely be back again!

I had a great time at Firebird Fowl. It was surprisingly quiet for a weekend evening, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves. My server was super friendly and helpful. She recommended the ostrich lasagna, which was amazing. I’d definitely come back again.

This adorable little bird themed hide away, has precious decore but serious food. Their Texas twister loaded potato was the most delicious, elegant, well balanced richly textured perfectly spice delivery of a potato that I have seen since the great depression. Honestly this potato inspires parts of me my wife was never able to... I highly recommend you come and share a connection with this cleverly spiraled loaded potato, plus the rest of their menu. Inspiration is it's raw essense. All the food was bomb, the owners are attentive and have been pouring love into this place. Worth checking out. Potato.

The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing! Everything was delicious especially the Mac & Cheese that came with the fried Emu. We also had the fried artichoke hearts, which were also on point. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! I plan on going back again often and getting some more of that adult ice cream.

Ever since they had to close down due to the name change i haven't seen them actually open. Maybe once for what I assume was a private party but that's it. Maybe one day they will get their stuff figured out an actually be open but for now I think their hours are wrong and aren't open.
