We were looking for a good catfish meal and scored big! The inside was decorated to a cabin vibe. Our waitress was a baby doll who meet our every need ( extra napkins as we might be a little messy and a to go cup for the sweet tea.) The salad was perfect please ty of salad dressing. To many times elsewhere it has been lacking. Great place to go. Next time I'll probably buy a shirt to advertise for them. Highly recommend.

Me and my guy used to love coming here. It has really gone downhill. The only reason we did come back was for Pam(waitress). She’s such a great waitress. We noticed the food quality wasn’t that good. Anyway we got there last night around 830. They close at 9. So maybe they weren’t happy that we came so late. But still my man ordered a beer and I got a Bloody Mary. My drink was ok. He only got the 1 beer in the time frame we were there (never got asked if he wanted another) Second I saw 2 ants on our table (ok that’s fine no place is perfect) but I then noticed there was a bunch of them along the wall. Then we got our food (I ordered fettuccini Alfredo with blackened chicken and he got a steak with creamed spinach (he wanted asparagus, but they were out) first my chicken had the texture of microwaved meat.(it was rubbery) then about 3 minutes after I got my plate they brought my toast (it was burnt) Anyway I digress I don’t think we will be back

Traveling, hungry, and ready to get out of the car. "Hey Google, where can I get a good hamburger?"... just so happens we were 1.3 miles from the location it suggested. We were both looking at each other . Are you sure this is the road we were supposed to turn on. Oh yes. There it is on the left. We went inside and immediately knew we were in for a treat. It smelled wonderful, and the staff was welcoming and smiling. The other patrons were content. Ordering was a breeze, and the server was on point. There is so much to look at while waiting for our meal. You'll love their food and hospitality. Go get ya some!

Went there for lunch, and Pam took excellent care of us. Our party had a club sandwich and sweet potato fries and a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. Everything was perfect. I had the 1/2lb Bacon Cheeseburger, which was really amazing. Very high-quality meat, cooked perfectly to order. The fries were really great (regular and sweet potato). Highly recommended. Best experienced if you have extra time and are not in a rush. Nice decor and seating options.

Just ate here and it was perfect. We both had a steak that came with French onion soup and salad. The steaks were cooked right with a side. The sweet potato fries were crispy! Our server was sweet and the atmosphere was nice. We will be stopping back here again! :)

Very nice little place off the beaten path. Very neat looking place inside, and the wait staff was exceptional. The food was good and served quickly. My wife had the ribeye, and she said it was good, although it was Slightlyover cooked. I had the seafood sampler, and it way also good. It's worth the stop to give it a try.

Fox & Hound can be a little difficult to find for those of us not too familiar with the area. I was in town and was hoping for prime rib dinner since I'd had it here before but it wasn't Thursday so no prime rib. Decided on the filet which I ordered rare (it was sadly medium rare) served with a baked potato, french onion soup and a salad for $40. It was good but I probably wouldn't order again Server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and casual. I saw most people ordering burgers and sammie's - and they do have a full bar

I absolutely love stopping in for a weekday lunch. Daily specials are well priced. Never disappointed by quality of food or friendliness of staff.

The manager/owner has issues with us asking about the stairs if our meal after an hour, saying if I wanted fast food, I should've gone to Mc Donald's. We're not the first customers to hear that....

I don't see how anyone could give less than five stars for this place! The food is dynamite, and the staff is a joy to be near. I highly recommend this place.

Wow- this may single handedly been the least expensive family meal we have had on vacation and it was the best food! Kids meals were mini corn dogs (perfectly cooked and not a lb of breading!) and grilled cheese with a side of mac n cheese. My burger was flavorful & Juicy- also cooked perfectly- and my husband got the fried shrimp with crinkle fries - nothing over fried! Wow. Follow your GPS - as it is a little hidden and be careful turning in up the hill that you don't bottom out. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is super cute- light and farmhouse decor- Service was attentive, pleasant, and inviting. Next time we are in TN this will definitely be on the must hit list!

Wouldn't recommend tbh after waiting 2 hrs for our food bc apparently missed the ticket at the end gave us the wrong food not worth it !!

We almost did not come because of previous reviews .. but our hotel recommended it.... Jessie was our server. She will give you great service. We had prime rib. It was ok.. but the service made it a will try again son had a hamburger its was ok too

Great steak, decent ambiance and service. Pretty pricey. Drinks could be better and lighting tweaked. Veggies need improvement and baked potatoes a little stale.

If I see a ribeye sandwich on the menu I'm getting it. We sat for an early lunch midweek in the left bar area to get away from the dining room crowd. The ribeye sandwiches came out nicely grilled, not too chewy with outstanding onions rings. The men's room in this bar area is a hot mess.

This restaurant was ok. Decor cute, waitress was Misty. She was attentive and friendly. Food was inconsistent. The slam strips and chicken tenders were frozen from a bag. Would recommend taking out the frozen, premade items and replace with fresh ingredients, food would be much tastier. Table ordered the below: Reuben sandwich - meal was delicious Catfish special with loaded bake potato with side of hand cut fries. The catfish was mushy and not great. Fries were good. Potato was ok but sat for a while. Sweet tea was perfect. Clam strips with French onion soup, side salad with potato. French onion soup was delish, potato was sub par and dry. Salad was drenched with dressing and partly inedible. Chicken tender salad was ok. Chicken was frozen and not fresh. There's is a lot of potential with this restaurant and food, however, we wouldn't come back.

Food was cold when it came out. appetizers were growing with hair. Never had a baked potato so cold it wouldn't melt butter.. paid $50 for a damn filet mignon and it wasn't like no d**n filet I ever had or saw. Wife's steak came cold and raw when ordered medium. Just all around terrible experience.

Don't let the outside of the place fool you! We had a great time there. 4 of us, 1 man 3 women all in 50-70 age range. They were extremely dog friendly! We ate on the fenced in outdoor patio. They told us to let them lose so they could stretch their legs. Brittany, our waitress, gave them a bowl of ice water too. Brittany was outstanding at her job! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. Food was outstanding as well. Thank you for the great meal!

Lunch was delicious! Open face steak sandwich on Texas toast and garlic mashed potatoes and beef gravy. Super yummy! Service was awesome and the ambiance was as relaxed and laid back. I even got to bring my doggie! Awesome experience!

Excellent choice! Farmhouse style decor. It's charming and comfortable. Bar area towards left, while restaurant dining to right, totally separate. Super friendly and helpful staff with great recommendations. There is a sign or two saying that this is not fast food, that each meal is grilled to order. Expect things to take time then, but it is well worth it. Excellent steaks and burgers. Sirloin came thick, cooked as ask, juicy and tasty. Sides were all good. We had the lava cake with ice cream for dessert and it was fire. A delightful spot. Really glad we ignored the lower reviews and gave it a try. Our family loved it.

Have been here numerous times when we go thru Newport. Had a great server who was very attentive. Her name was jessie.Food was great. However over an hour wait for sandwiches was extreme. Had to ask for bread cuz we were so hungry. The place was only half full. Had plenty of servers so it was definitely a kitchen problem. Wouldn't advise a booth. Sooo uncomfortable! And with the time we spent there,that is important!

I came here for dinner while staying in the area for the weekend. The service wasn't too bad considering it was a Friday night, the food wasn't too bad. My girl friends shrimp scampi was very buttery and my steak was a little under cooked. Overall, it wasn't to bad.

Fox & Hounds isn't easy find. The signage is poor. Once you find the drive you may get confused as to where the building is as it is buried in the back past two old restaurants and a trailer park. The outside isn't very appealing however the interior is nicely done. You can tell that they have put a lot of effort into redecorating the place. The interior is clean. They have used a nice set of white, gray and black colors to create an appeal. The prominent use of wood interiors was a good choice. I have to give a shout out to Brittany L. She was a fantastic waitress. She was very friendly and welcoming. She knew her menu and made us feel right at home. She hustled our drinks, refills, soups and salads. Great job Brittany! While I didn't get to interface with the other staff...I have to believe that they modeled Brittany's behavior based on what I saw. Now for the food. We started with the French onion soup which was recommended. The soup came out luke warm. Barely warm enough to melt the Kraft single piece of white American cheese that was placed on top. The soup had odd after taste. The piece of bread was an asset. The side salads my wife and I had were excellent. They were a nice size with plenty of fresh taste and accent vegetables. I doubt they made their own dressings. What was served had a good taste. My wife had the shishkebabs. She said the chicken was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were fresh, firm, nicely seasoned and cooked just right. I had the ribs and onion ring special. The onion rings were fantastic. The breading was thick but not too thick. They were fried to a golden brown but not too oily. The onion pieces were a nice meaty size! Well done team! The ribs were another story. These were baby back ribs. They were cooked to the right temp and color. The meat choice was very poor. It was FULL of small cartilage pieces. I picked out a pill that was about 3" around by 1-1/2" tall. Outside that...the sauce was very good! A little sweet but plenty of BBQ taste. Give them a try. I assume they are a work in process.

Really sweet waitress. Limited items on the menu due to the hurricane. We had the loaded fries and two different flavor wings which were really delicious and their Oktoberfest beer!!! Please seek them out. This was the first day with full staff!!!

Excellent mom & pop restaurant! Prime rib was delicious & grilled on a grill!!! Not on a hot top! Homemade ranch! Oh, & alcohol was fabulous!!! Moonshine cocktails!

I was skeptical about trying this restaurant because of it's 3.5 rating but was pleasantly surprised. Passing through on vacation, I wanted to try the Prime Rib. It was delicious! Initial service was good, food was good (my wife thought her grilled chicken breast was dry), prices were ok, beer was cold! I wanted to give them a 5 but no one came back to check on us. There was no personal attention after we got our food. All in all it was pretty good but they need to learn to check on their patrons.

Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, but our food took an hour to come out and we ended up taking it to go because we didn't have time to sit and eat for another 30 minutes. Our food was soggy and they left out sauces and utensils. Wouldn't recommend on a busy weekend night, but the service (other than food wait time) was great.

Horrible food! Horrible service! Not only did the food take forever to come out it tasted horrible no flavor it was honestly gross. The wings didn't taste bad till I noticed a feather still on it. There were 2 flys parked at my table that every time we swat away just came back. Also the person eating beside us was speaking loudly with racial slurs as me and my black fiancé tried to eat. Honestly the worst experience I've ever had anywhere. Horrible start to our Tennessee trip.

Went to Fox and Hound' - The food Was Very Good- I had the half rack of ribs- Had to take part of it home; It was that big-My wife had cheese Burger fried potatoes and onions. Service was excellent; Price was Not bad - We had appetizers & dessert And meal ; was 70 dollars-Ps from the outside it doesn't look that great; But it is: Very family friendly atmosphere Chocolate Lava Cake was delicious

Just ate at this place and if you don't try it you're going to miss out on a hidden gem in Newport. The French onion soup , fried pickles are to die for. But the prime rib dinner is out of this world. The staff is friendly and courteous but the highlight is Misty. She is friendly and recommendation are spot on. Go see Misty she will take great care of you.

We ordered 3 easy meals a hamburger with fries, prime rib sandwich with sweet potatoes fries, and a sirloin 6 oz steak with baked potato. Took over an hour and half and when we asked our server how much longer she said 20 minutes longer. We got tired of waiting and we asked for the check to pay for our drinks from server she went to speak manager or someone from kitchen he came out just said. Hey food is done do you want it that was it. Then we decided to stay since we were starving. The food was alright but not to take so long fries were over cooked. I would not return again not a pleasant atmosphere they did not say anything or do something make better experience. You would be better off elsewhere.

I will start off by saying it was Sunday Father's day, Things may have been better if we had stopped another time. The building itself is very nice, clean and friendly. My husband ordered the prime rib and he said it was very good!! I how ever chose the Crown Royal ribeye..... Salad was VERY good and I had broccoli but don't think you can mess broccoli up? any way it was a LONG wait for or steaks to come out and the waitress said the kitchen was backed up (Not her fault and she was a good waitress) How ever my steak come out thin, plain and small like a ribeye sandwich steak My steak was a $40 steak that came out looking like a $10 Wal-mart steak. The crown Royal was explained on the menu as a sweet tangy Crown Royal infused ribeye. Now I had never had it before as we were traveling thru headed to Charlotte so don't know if i got the steak I ordered or someone else's due to kitchen being backed up? We travel back and forth between Charlotte and West TN often and we will have to go back to the usual Chop house up by Bass Pro shop if we spend $40 on one steak it's gonna be GOOD

I'd go again. Food was as expected for this joint. Service a little slow but hospitable. Overall B+

To high priced, there not that good to charge these prices. Kind of a hidden location. Table was dirty and wobbly.. We've had a lot better Stake and Chicken for less money.

Absolutely Fantastic . My FAVORITES are French Onion Soup, Mushroom Burger (medium) and Ribeye (medium rare)!!!

Great atmosphere and great food. Had the 20 ounce ribeye and it was delicious. The onion soup was home made a good.

We're from out of town so this was our first time to try Fox and Hound. Atmosphere was good--it's a super cute place. Pricing was average, and food was good.... It just took a while to get everything because some crazy customer got mad that her food was taking too long, and she started fighting the staff. And I mean physically. After the police came and the encounter was settled, multiple staff members came around apologizing for the disruption in dinner and service. We made sure they were all ok and just spent the rest of the night cutting up with them about our dinner and a show! I had the blackened chicken fettuccine, and it was really good.

Cool place with except food and service. Had the sirloin and baked potato and it was great.

Went there with 3 other gals last night before going to a play. Will never go again. The buy one get one free is nothing more than a gimmick because the meals are priced double. If you order a steak, medium rare, you're going to get it well done, if you order it with blue cheese, it's gonna be saturated with blue cheese to the point where it makes you nauseous. The mac & cheese with lobster wasn't even edible. The best thing about the experience was our waitress Carla.

Food and services was great! Cozy atmosphere and great selection of food. Highly recommend especially for quiet and less busy than tourist areas.

Last night (valentines night) yes I know Valentines can be busy but restaurants know that and they had a limited menu. First asked the waitress if I could substitute soup for broccoli I got a flat out NO. So I ordered the French onion which tasted good however it was so salty and just luke warm. Now onto the salad which was mostly onions and cheese. After 1:15 minutes I asked our server if our meals were going to be coming, she yes they'll be right out. 15 minutes later they came out. My steak was rare and I ordered medium and no I didn't send it back was afraid it would take another 1:30 minutes to get back. Horrible service and experience felt like we were held hostage! First and last time for us. Texas Roadhouse is 10x better and cheaper.

Omg best prime rib Iv had In long time. Service was great! Sweet tea was delicious. Husband had chicken tenders they were good. Walked right in and was seated.

Food took over an hour after ordering to arrive and they were not busy. Food received by our party was swimming in greasy sauce and way too much salt. Server did not check on us for a refill of beverages for over an hour. Loud and noisy environment and way to bright lighting and super uncomfortable metal chairs.

My food was very greasy and not really edible, I left hungry and would never try again. Disappointing.

Food is good for the most part but the wait is terrible. Hour and a half or 2 hours for a cheeseburger is ridiculous.

Service started out ok. Waitress brought drinks but never came back. Had to ask about waitress after 20 minutes. She came. Brought a free beer, took our order and it seemed ok. She brought soup and salad right away but the main course took quit awhile. Family near us had service problems too. The lady went to ask about missing food and a fight broke out. Police came and everything. Very entertaining. Food was very over priced but it was good but not that good. But based on service and price I won't ever go back

Excellent menu choices. The food is great, as are the prices. Service has always been top notch.

Good atmosphere. 1 hr wait for our order. 3 meals prepared. 2 out of 3 were over cooked. Prepared I plate for 2nd time, still over cooked. Sides were cold on all 3 plates. Price is on the high end. Quality does not reflect that. I have been there twice. My first and last.

Food, service, and ambiance is superb. Fresh, clean, bright, shabby-chic decor fills the otherwise vacant space with color, comfort, and a suggestion of a farmhouse in spring. The black and bleu salad was to die for- fresh veggies and perfectly seasoned steak was rare exactly how I liked it. The tea tasted freshly brewed and the 80's music + decadent key lime pie pulls the whole thing together. Service was smiley and prompt. Made me feel welcome as a stranger in Newport.

Fox and Hounds came highly recommended in a town with mediocre restaurants. It's not cheap and very busy. We've been twice and had issues both times with our meals and service. They were trying and nice, but just not enough staff. Also, they have an extremely dangerous situation in the dinning room with loose flooring. I've watched people trip over and over, and then when it happened enough to one of the waitresses, she literally pulled it from the floor and hurled it across a packed dinning room to get it out of the way.
