Rye Fox Review - Beverly Grove - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Rye Fox is an overpriced club restaurant on Beverly near the Grove that’s not very good unless you’re in the mood to go clubbing for dinner. They specialize in rotisserie chickens and rye whiskey cocktails, but the $50 chicken is comparable to the ones that cost $8 in a grocery store, and the rye drinks are so sweet that you might wonder whether there’s any alcohol in them. Feel free to skip this place for the pizza slice shop next door." - Brett Keating

Walked in to a nice blend of Post Modern decor married with a comfortable Rustic vibe. Ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and my Wife got the French Dip and some Mozz Sticks to split. The Fried Chicken was most with a crispy, well seasoned breading and the pickles popped with a satisfying crunch with every bite. It was recommended by the staff and did not disappoint. The French Dip was full of tender shaved steak that was really well accented by the robust Gouda and Provalone Cheese mixture. All of it dunked in a savory Ojou sauce. As a side we both got the apple sauce. A good sweet note to our salty and savory sandwiches. The Cinnamon really shines without overpowering the apple flavor. The unique drink options were a nice surprise and we're a fun surprise.

Ordered to go. Opened food in the car for pictures. Potato salad was hard/undercooked & watery. Knuckle sandwich was VERY soggy. I was so excited to try. Disappointed. Guy at the counter was friendly but recommended the potato salad

Great Sandwiches and home made chips . Had the Ruben and Apple with Brie ciabatta. Both were excellent. Will be going back !

I ordered 2 sandwiches online: the fried chicken and Italian sandwich and spent $36 (18% tip). The Italian sandwich was just ok. The fried chicken sandwich was inedible. The meat looked and tasted burnt because it was old. Both sides of potato salad were also inedible as the potatoes were undercooked. This was my first and last time eating here.

This is my second time here and I adore this homegrown shop. The staff are awesome and the food is always fresh! I had the Knuckle sandwich and it was a new venture for me. But it was delicious! I got it with a side of potato salad and a Mexicane Coke from the tap. Bonus! Side of homemade hummus! Thank you guys for being awesome!

Google

My daughter and I stopped for a quick bite to eat there. I was surprised, the food was amazing. Top notch I would definitely recommend to others!!

Google
Wonderful little deli with fantastic food and unique creative options. Make sure you have time as each sandwich is made to order fresh! Great sodas but coke was out and it was the only one I wanted. LOL. Ryan is fantastic and staff was so helpful and kind. Just an all around great place. We had the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese minus the ketchup and a thanksgiving sandwich!! Sooooo delicious I forgot to take a picture. The main thing to remember is that they usually only have 2 working and it takes minimum of 30 minutes to get your order. I ordered two sandwiches and it took almost 40 minutes. Not FAST for lunchtime FYI.

Yelp
My pictures do not do it justice - this place is amazing! Fresh house made chips with the perfect seasoning and soft crunch of potatoes. I ordered the Italian and Caprese sandwiches - both came hot and fresh and so dang good! The only con with this place is that it took 20 minutes for two sandwiches, and we were the only other people in the restaurant at 5pm so my gut is that it just takes time to make something this good. I hope they can stay in business because we will definitely be back!

Yelp
We had high hopes for this place and loved the fact that they use local suppliers for some of their ingredients. In reality it was just "meh" and that is not taking into account the prices. The Reuben was just sliced deli meat and the construction made the bread soggy. The French dip was tough and fatty/chewy. Every single bite had a wad of fat. The bread wasn't real dip-able because it was so tender. The potato salad tasted like store bought and was missing flavor. The highlight was the chocolate chip cookie. The person working the counter was friendly and the service was fast, maybe because we were the only ones there. I hope they improve because I prefer local restaurants.

Yelp
Always loved coming here every 6-8 weeks after my hair appointment. Stopped by today and the place is closed - and it looks like forever. So sad.

Yelp
My husband and I went here this last weekend. Our thought was sandwiches are fast so we could eat and be on our way. Ordering process was quick but as we sat there, the inside temperature was so warm, we changed our order to go. We waited at least 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches and the tomato cucumber salad. We ended up driving home to eat. I had the caprese which I thought was tasty. My husband had their version of the club. It had a strong Dijon mustard on both sides of the sandwich. It was so much, he wiped both sides with a napkin. There was not a flavor in our tomato and cucumber salad. I might try again but would probably call it in to go.

Yelp
Okay, I was blown away by how good this food was. I would recommend asking for the fried chicken grilled cheese sandwich. Having chicken freshly fried is such a treat--even at fast-food places it seems hard to get something freshly fried and not just held under a heat lamp. So many menu items here are made from scratch like the potato chips and chicken salad, and it makes the experience feel unique. I was not expecting such a special experience at a sandwich place. This is a great place to bring out-of-towners. The music isn't too loud so it's easy to have a conversation. Kudos to the owner for creating a wonderful dining experience. While they didn't have all of the menu options available when we went, I'm definitely going back just to try them (looking at you, mozzarella sticks!)

Yelp
We wanted to order a few sandwiches for lunch on a Saturday so we drove to the restaurant. It was supposed to open at 11am according to their own website and what is printed on the door, but when we went to enter the place was completely dark and there was absolutely no one there. Guess they don't need our business

Jonathan N.

Yelp
This restaurant seems to be permanently closed. No one answers the phone, no signs are up, and they have been closed for over three weeks. Nothing on their socials either. I have reached out to the owner and I have not heard back

Yelp
To start, I want to let you know that this is the type of place that you order at the counter and then go sit down to wait for your food to be made. Normally, I'm not a fan of that type of restaurant, because I like to sit at the table and have a few minutes to read over the menu before I have to order. That said, because they have everything written on the chalkboard and you can see it in an at-a-glance format, the way it is setup really is conducive to ordering at the counter first. So kudos for having everything you need upfront. Now the food. It's great food made fresh. It took a little bit to get our food, but we weren't disappointed when it arrived. I had the smoky turkey sandwich, which comes with peppers, onions, and horseradish sauce on the bread. It was really good and quite big. I had Cajun chips as my side and added a bowl of tomato soup. It was all really good. The soup was really thick and more of a tomato purée type of soup. It probably could've used a little bit more water, but it really depends on what you're going for when you're making it. It was still good, and I would order it again. My husband had the Reuben sandwich and he said it's one of the best Rubens he's ever had. My son had the Italian sandwich with no pesto and no veggies except black olives. He liked it quite a bit. We shared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, because we were curious what it was like. That was also really good, we also tried the chocolate chip and the chocolate cookie. The flavors of each we're good, but they were served warm and just crumbled in your hands. You definitely can't hold these cookies and eat them. You really have to eat them with a fork or spoon. Really the only negative remarks I have to add are the fact that the chairs are extremely uncomfortable, and they need to put a mat on the floor in front of the drink machine and under the sink in the restrooms. People are really messy with their drinks and washing their hands, so it leaves the floor, incredibly wet and slippery. That could definitely be a hazard. I will say, though, as soon as I mentioned that it was slippery by the drink machine, they put a little sign out and took care of it. Overall, we really liked this place. The staff were friendly and as prompt as you can be when you make food from scratch. It was exactly what we needed for a quick lunch. We had a great experience and we'll be back.

Yelp
If you don't go give this small owned business your money. I have been looking for an amazing panini that taste fresh, real, and just delicious. THIS WAS IT. The man taking my order so helpful, kind and made sure I liked my food. It's really chill and a good place to even work/study. Decorating is unique and just overall a great place. It's so close to my house- going to have a new addiction
google avatar

Yelp
Don't get the hype. I love supporting small business, but you've gotta do more than just be local to get my repeat business. We tried this place for lunch. The atmosphere was sparse, but fine. The temperature however was too hot inside. Two of the tables we wanted were still dirty. I ordered the Reuben. It was a disappointment: to expensive and too little meat. Literally Charlestons gives you 2-3x the meet than this place. My wife only ate half of her sandwich. The veggie side salad was limp and soggy - not fresh at all. Staff didn't engage with us at all. Won't be going back.

Yelp
I kept seeing this pop up on my yelp screen to try and so after 3 weeks of trying to go (no fault of the restaurant) I was finally able to make it there. We were greeted promptly and the person taking our order answered all of our questions, made recommendations and was cheerful. He actually seemed to enjoy his work or puts on a great poker face! After we ordered we sat down the decor is a bit of a hodge Podge of older style adverts and what I'm guessing are antique items or reproductions of Such. I'm not an expert so I couldn't really say for sure. It took awhile for our food to come out and we actually we getting a little irritated at the amount of time. Suddenly I'm guessing a manger or lead team member came over WITHOUT any prompt for us. Apologized that it was taking so long and refunded us our apps and drinks. That was awesome of him I find it very refreshing he is on top of his game and paying attention. When we did get our food the deviled eggs were excellent. A nice creamy filling and balanced ingredients. The cheese sticks were probably my favorite thing. This wasn't the typical all breading and no filling these suckers were large and full of cheesy goodness. I do have a suggestion though of instead of three cheese sticks make it four. Even if I had to pay a dollar more I think the even number would go over best as the typical party with kids is going to be four or if it's two then each gets 2. Our sandwich were ok. The Dr Pepper soaked short rib wasn't the best I had tried.I think next time I'll order something different. My wife sandwich the smoky turkey was better. It came with a horseradish sauce with any time we hear horseradish we are like no thanks. It's not that we don't like it but it is so powerful most chefs overpower everything with it. This chef didn't do that. While you could tell it there it just didn't take over over. Another awesome thing showing they are paying attention.

Yelp
I was super excited when I heard this place was opening because I am a huge fan of toasted sandwiches. My sandwich was really good and flavorful, the bread was nice and soft but yet also crunchy. Homemade chips weren't too bad either. My only complaint is that I with the bread to filling ratio was better. Needed more meat inside.
google avatar

Yelp
Was it good yes.. Was it great no. For $12 a sandwich I guess I was expecting better. I had the Cuban and wife had the Thanksgiving dinner sandwich. The sandwiches were ok... not great. All sandwiches come house made chips. The chips were seriously lacking flavor. We had bbq and salt and pepper and couldn't really tell they were seasoned. Service was great and the food came out in fairly short order. 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks cost $32 even with tax. In my view $16 per person for a sandwich and drink... a bit high for what you get.

Vy D.

Yelp
Super tasty food. I had the knuckle sandwich and my partner had the French onion sandwich. I got tomato soup which I was obsessed with and he had the house seasoned chips that he really liked. Will definitely be back! Also the guy taking our order was very nice!

Gary M.

Yelp
Very tasty and expertly crafted sandwiches! We came here from out of town. I noticed they make the more fancy sandwiches that you don't see very often in restaurants. Everything from cleanliness, to decoration and food presentation was spot on!
google avatar

Alan G.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a Sammy. Kind and helpful service but lots of traffic during lunch hour that the service is slightly longer. Not too bad though. The sandwich I tried was the pastrami and I actually enjoyed it. I read other reviews that thought it was pricey, but honestly, the price seems to be in line with other spots that are similar. Everything has gone up in price so it is what it is these days. I was underwhelmed by the potato chips. Seasoning isn't consistent throughout and I realized I may not be a fan of homemade potato chips where some pieces taste overdone and others are fine, some pieces are thicker than others, etc. I like a lot of consistency with my chips so I may have enjoyed a bag of chips instead. Course, bag of chips to me means lowering the price a tad. Just sayin. Definitely a few things to work on. Potato chips. Well, that and the guy who was serving us had his shirt covered in dog hair. I'm guessing it's dog hair because it was COVERED. If it's human hair or another species, I do apologize but the first thing that crossed my mind is whether something was going to fall in my food. The sandwich on its own- I'd give it four stars.

Yelp
I would have submitted a picture but there was no chance... it's all gone. Friendly staff, interesting menu. Went with the Caprese - flavorful chicken breast, cheesey mozzarella, sliced toms & basil pesto. Salt n pepper housemade chips. Have yet to try strawberry hand pie. Well worth it!!! Try this place out.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! I had the Reuben, and was very impressed! However, we came here for lunch, and it was not as quick as we hoped it would be. Took about 30 minutes for our food to come out after ordering.

Randy G.

Yelp
Came in after work. I had the Knuckle sandwich, and my wife the Reuben. Both were excellent. The knuckle was hot fresh and a good balance of cheese and sauce, with a good portion of tasty roast beef. The Reuben tasted exactly how a Reuben should with a large portion of corned beef and fresh bread. Also tried the tomato and minestrone soup which were hearty and good on a cold day. For those who complained about the pricing haven't ventured into OKC lately. They are ballpark or perhaps a bit below pricing in the city, and as such an excellent value! Will go back for sure!

Pandora P.

Yelp
They make the best sandwiches and house-made chips! It's amazing!!!!!! The owners know what they're doing. Please go there and try it! By the way, they're open until 8pm. Yelp has it listed wrong
google avatar

Vickie P.

Yelp
The patty melt is delicious!!! The hand made chips are okay. I don't taste bbq on them at all. I would definitely eat her again but skip on the chips and take it to go cause it's freezing inside.

Yelp
New sandwich shop off 15th & Broadway in Edmond. They just opened & are still working out some of the kinks, but the Italian sandwich I had on my visit was very good. People were friendly as well. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

Yelp
I went to this place after waiting for it to open and also because my coworker said to try it. She said it was so good and I had to go. I ordered the chicken sandwich because the guy at the counter told me it's his favorite. It was disappointing to say the least. The bun was really great and it was it's only save. The sandwich is just pickles and sauce but that wasn't what got me. The thing that I was upset about was the 2cm thick piece of chicken in my sandwich. Im not gonna lie, I was expecting a thick piece of chicken. Told me coworker and she said her piece of chicken was super thick and hearty. The chips had a good flavor and i got a peach tea that's so good. But to be honest, I can't go to a place and be a regular if their food isn't consistent.

Sue T.

Yelp
Such great sandwiches! We have always been more than satisfied with the food! The portions are big enough to share...and the homemade chips are amazing!
google avatar

Abby E.

Yelp
Delicious hot sandwiches and chips! Stopped in for lunch one afternoon, and was pleasantly surprised by their offerings. We ordered a Cuban with salt and pepper chips. The Cuban was very good, served warm and toasted with the perfect punch from the pickles. The salt and pepper chip is your classic potato chip. I had the Smokey turkey. I felt the bread to meat ratio could have been better, but the flavors were there! I had the Cajun chips with it, and they could have used a tad more seasoning. We wanted to try their deviled eggs, but they were out of them! Hopefully that's a sign they are popular, and it gives me a reason to return!
google avatar

Krisie H.

Yelp
I drove by this place for weeks, anticipating that it would open. Finally it did, and my husband and I went for a sandwich. The wait was so worth it!! Staff was super nice and welcoming, made recommendations, and were just awesome. And then I got my Thanksgiving sandwich and fresh chips? 10 out of 10. I already have next weeks sandwich picked out. Definitely a repeat lunch date place.
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Best French dip I've ever had. My boyfriend said it was the best Ruben . Herb chips are rosemary deliciousness.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Have been here twice. The sandwiches are delicious. The chips are homemade come out little too much flavoring on them. Still good though. Sand which is made to order and is made fast. Not a long wait. This is a must. Keep this business going!!
google avatar

Colton E.

Yelp
Reuben sandwich, BBQ chips and a water - $14.09. It took a bit too long to get our food, about 20 minutes and there were no more than four customers in the place. Reuben was nothing special, there was way too much thousand island dressing and sauerkraut for the lack of pastrami. Workers were polite, atmosphere was decent.
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Excellent sandwich and house made chips. Was huge and packed with meat. Great taste. Other sandwiches I saw coming out looked delicious as well and I'll be back to try them all.

Shaun P.

Yelp
Went there for lunch. I had the Dr. Orders. Grill cheese sandwich with fried chicken. They make the chips and have several flavors you can choose from. The chips were crunchy. It was very good.
google avatar

Rand J.

Yelp
Excellent handmade sandwiches chips and soup. The French dip is awesome. We just keep going back to try new things and all have been great. The tomato soup is one of my favs too.

Aly O.

Yelp
I didn't know this place existed and I'm mad at myself for not going there sooner. The French dip sandwich was amazing well worth the price. Don't get me started on the house made potato chips. These were fantastic. We also ordered the patty melt. The onions were perfectly caramelized and the meat was juicy and delicious. Restaurant was perfect vibes if you're looking for a chill dinner. Employees were so nice and helpful since we told them we had never been there. He gave us recommendations of his favorite sandwiches and he was right on the money. Great place the take the family for a quick bite! Will definitely go there again!
google avatar

Yelp
At last!! Been looking for a sandwich shop in or near Edmond that wasn't one of the usual sub or deli chains. This is what I've been wanting. So far, I've had the Finegan Reuben & the Cuban. Both were everything I wanted in a sandwich: tasty bread, excellent meats & toppings (especially the kraut on the Reuben. My wife has gotten the Knuckle & the Fried Chicken sandwiches - and she let me try them. Every but as the 2 I got. Can't wait to go back to try some more. One thing I wish they offered is a half sandwich & soup combo, but I'll keep going back anyway.
google avatar

Shane B.

Yelp
From the homemade ingredients to the craft soda this place was great. We will definitely be back.

Phil W.

Yelp
I've driven to this shop 3 times now. Most recently 6:15 on a Saturday night. Never open. Out of food, high demand-- all variety of BS. Never again. It doesn't matter how good the food is or not if you're never open. I'll go elsewhere.
google avatar

Misti C.

Yelp
Really good sandwich's and house made chips! We will be back! Edmond needed a greasy casual spot and this is it!

Cameron M.

Yelp
We ordered three sandwiches and they said it would take 15 to 20 minutes; however, it ended up taking over an hour. AN HOUR...for three sandwiches. When I checked on our order after an hour had passed, they offered no apology or explanation of why it was taking so long and said it would be another 10 minutes. We ordered dine-in and it came out as a to-go order. The sandwiches were okay, not worth $45.

C Y.

Yelp
The service was not good and the sandwiches were not worth the price and 30 minute wait. The knuckle sandwich looked great in the pic, but the meat was so tough that I could not even bite through it. The soup was cold.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Family favorite Fox & Rye to eat really delicious sandwiches and more! Highly recommended this local business and support these foodie fans. There is no need for chains. #eatlocal #Edmond #Oklahoma This kid devours ham egg and cheese while I scarf down the best Reuben. There are plenty of starters and sides too if you need some extra, but the portions are plentiful, and plus, you might want to save room for the sweets, too. Friendly staff and owners. Gluten-free if you need extra tummy care. Even the chips are made in-house and thick with lots of flavor. Oh, and instead of crappy sodas, they serve the best Maine Root with more wholesome ingredients that should keep you from growing extra parts. Try mixing and matching all the sandwich options to get full customization! Great spot inside and out. The ambiance works. It's nice and clean.

K C.

Yelp
I ordered the Brie Apple Panini. It was divine!! BUT, it was SO expensive! Unfortunately, I won't be buying from here again with the high prices, but it was tasty!
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Upon arriving to pick up our to go order, we were informed that none of the critical ingredients for the sandwiches on their very limited menu were in stock. We were left to cancel our order and find somewhere else to eat.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Sandwich are amazing. I have had the French dip a couple of times with the homemade chips. Music was a little loud which made conversation difficult. Also ordered once Togo which came as ordered.
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Great gluten free bread and clearly marked menu. My gluten-eating dining companion enjoyed her meal as well. We'll be back.
google avatar

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
Seriously the best sandwiches in Edmond, staff is great and restaurant is always clean!

Lorenzo H.

Yelp
I must have come on an off day. I could tell the second I walked in the two guys in the kitchen were scrambling, stressed etc. They were remaking sandwiches for one table of ladies, apologizing, handing out cookies and coupons. Not a great sign. It was not busy but still took about 30 mins for my sandwich, I got the Italian which was just ok...for $13 bucks...plus a fountain drink total bill was $18 bucks - yikes. The menu should say the Italian is basically a panini, smashed and served hot. Between the cheese and the overpowering pepperoni it was essentially an oily mess of a calzone. It would have been much better served on a hogie roll, cold with shredded iceberg lettuce and classic/simple oil and vinegar dressing. They then announced to the restaurant they would be closing for "training". Strange but ok, it was clear they were having issues, that's fine, I get it...shit happens. But if your going for a classic Italian, this isn't it. I will be back to try the smoked turkey and will make sure to ask if it's served cold!!

Sarah M.

Yelp
This place is doing everything right! All their ingredients appear scratch made or purchased from a local artisan vendor. My family had the french dip, Brie and cranberry with smoked turkey, tomato soup, toasty PB&J, fried chicken sandwich, pasta salad and applesauce. Everyone thought it was delicious!
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
I was really hoping this place would be good. There was nothing good about it. I had the French dip and came out and when I saw it I knew I didn't want it but I ate it because I paid for it and I'm hungry. The meat was so burnt it was black and so tough many bites were not edible I had to pull the fat out of the sandwich the amount of meat was so skimpy . The cheese they put on it is so salty that just overpower everything. The juice was very plain and salty the chips were supposed to be ranch but they tasted like just plain chips. Definitely won't come back here. Don't go here save your money.

Miko M.

Yelp
Ya'll!!!!! I haven't had a gluten free chocolate chip cookie in years. It was so good and it didn't crumble. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
