I have never been to Fox Brothers and perhaps other locations are pretty good, but my lunch experience today at the Braves Stadium was pitiful (yet still expensive). It started off by our having to use QR codes instead of getting a printed menu -- OK, I get that some restaurants do this. We figured out what we wanted and then waited at least 20 minutes for a server. Our server took our drink orders and when they were delivered 10 minutes later, my dining companion requested a straw. Never got it. Finally, the server came back to take our food order. I asked for the Beef Brisket Tacos. The server said, "oh, our menu is out of date, we don't have that on the menu anymore." So, let me get this straight, you have people go online to read the menu and yet the menu is out of date? I'm no computer whiz, but wouldn't an online menu be fairly simple to update? Certainly, simpler and less costly than reprinting plastic/paper menus. Anyway, I then ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken with two sides. My friend ordered the smoked chicken salad sandwich which you could get with four different sides for an upcharge. One of the sides was pimiento cheese on bread. Huh? You're having a sandwich, but one of the sides is a sandwich?? We asked for the pimiento cheese to be brought on a plate with some crackers. No, they don't have crackers. So, we asked for chips. When our food came out, there were no chips of any kind. Finally, got some chips. My friend said her smoked chicken salad sandwich was NOT good. My smoked chicken was good -- at least I think it was. I only was able to get one small bite because Fox Brothers won't let you have real flatware. Have you ever tried cutting meat or poultry off of the bone with a plastic fork and knife? Pretty impossible, so I gave up on that and just ate my slaw and potato salad sides. (I took the chicken home in a to-go container where I could enjoy the luxury of stainless steel flatware.) Three times I told the server we wanted separate checks -- twice when we ordered and one more time when I requested our checks. He definitely heard me, but as he went to write up the bill, he asked "do you want separate checks or all on one bill?"
Given that our server wasn't nasty and he was young, I took pity on him and gave him a very nice tip.
BTW, this restaurant doesn't accept cash. That wasn't a problem for me, but it's a pretty unusual policy for a restaurant, so be forewarned if you are foolish enough to give them your business.
