"Beloved basement speakeasy Fox Liquor Bar (237 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh) will finally reopen its doors on Friday, May 19, at 4 p.m. The bar — one of many of chef Ashley Christensen’s downtown establishments — shut down during the pandemic but never swung back into business like others (Poole’s Diner, Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, Death & Taxes, and Poole’side Pies). Now Fox reopens with a new menu and a new look. To honor Christensen’s late father, whom the bar is named after, designers Jamie Meares and Tad Pilati incorporated his art and memorabilia into the decor — family photos and colorful paintings now hang on the walls. The menu also has a new look with festive cocktails like the Ode to Island Time with tequila, pineapple shrub, Cocchi Rosa, and turmeric. There’s also a thoughtful non-alcoholic beverage list. Food offerings range from hot collard green and artichoke dip to deviled egg salad toast with tobacco onions. Starting today, Fox is open Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays, from 4 p.m. to midnight; and Saturdays noon to midnight." - Erin Perkins

"Staffers were strongly encouraged to socialize in boozy post-shift jaunts that began even before they had closed for the night. 'Just one drink' was a comical phrase used by all of us to convince members of this 'family' to meet up at Fox Liquor [Bar] or Capital Club after closing." - Matt Lardie

Google
Fox Liquor Bar is trying hard to become my favorite craft cocktail bar in Raleigh. Good service. A nice selection of delicious house cocktails. Talented bar tenders in a cozy basement bar. That alone puts Fox in the mix when talking about Raleigh’s craft cocktail scene. And then I had some snacks. OMG their bar snacks are next level delicious. The chicken hand pies are the best pasties I’ve had outside of Scotland. And the onion dip… let’s just say I will remember my life as the lost years I spent prior to trying the onion dip at Fox and the much happier and fulfilling years I’m certain to have just knowing that onion dip is out there.

Excellent drinks! Its refreshing to go to a place that isn't just slinging drinks. These are artists, harnessing the full spectrum of the finest spirits to create and craft cocktails that you will love. There is something for everyone here. I loved that they take the time to teach you about the craft of creating a great cocktail.

Google
Really cool atmosphere here. Like other alcohol-only bars in NC, there's a $1 membership cost to enter. When we came on a Saturday night it was busy but still not too loud. Kinda sultry with a low lit ambiance. The staff were very friendly and the drinks were interesting.

Google
I would definitely wants to come back. Drinks are good. If you eat spicy food try their Carolina pepper French fries

Google
Incredible selection of mixology drinks, very well-made and the staff is really knowledgeable and fast. Kyle is an incredible bartender. I️ hope he's able to add the apple pie drink to the menu! Really loved the industrial-style atmosphere and plenty of clean restrooms! Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I stopped in for an after dinner drink on a Saturday around 6:30pm. It wasn't yet crowded and we sat at a cozy booth. We were quickly greeted by a friendly and witty server who answered our questions and made suggestions. We ordered drinks and snacks, and the Jane Taylor drink (photo below) blew us away! One of the best cocktails we've ever tasted. We'll be back here for that drink and the sparkling service.

Google
Great cocktails in an intimate setting, with a rotating menu and some darn good small plates. We highly recommend everything. Of particular excellence are the Krampus Cup, the Island Medicine, and the Midnight Makeup. Go here.

Google
I can't say enough good things about Fox! The drinks were creative and delicious spins on classic cocktails. The snacks are great little bites for your group, but also delicious!! The ambience in the space is so calming, fun, and exclusive. I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Nice low-key bar without crowds on the Friday evening I dropped in. The space is clean and the bartenders are welcoming. I sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail which I enjoyed. They didn't have food here the night I dropped in, so be sure to grab a bite at the nearby restaurants. Fox Liquor Bar is directly behind Beasleys. There is a paid lot across the street and a parking deck (Moore Square) that's a quick walk. Of course, there is always free parking.

Kellie D.

Yelp
First time at Fox Liquor Bar. I loved the cozy venue and the cocktails are delicious. I ordered the Ode to Island Time and the Foxhole Tango. We were there for a special event so it was very busy with lines to order drinks but bartenders were friendly and working as fast as they could. We snagged seats at the bar and enjoyed watching him then create the cocktails.

Yelp
Love this place. Great drinks, great vibes, great service. Underground, but roomy. Booths, hightops, and bar seating. Can't wait to come back!

Graci F.

Yelp
Cool vibe and great food to snack on (the deviled egg toast thing was banging). Cute spot for a date night

Tom S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Cocktails and quick bites. Can't beat it. The small plates are also very good. The chicken was amazing and so was the slider. Perfect spot to pop in with a group

Yelp
Adore this little subterranean bar! Located on the side of Beasley's, visible by a neon sign above the entrance. Kate, our bartender, was an absolute gem. Recommended gin in the Ivy Gimlet and it was perfect. The Foxtail was full of rum and strong, but smooth. The prices are higher than average, but worth it in my opinion - you can tell it isn't cheap liquor by how easy and smooth the drinks go down. The Carolina reaper fries are everything. Very spicy with a cool ranch dip to go along. The space is dark and intimate, with a super casual vibe. Love this place and can see it being a place for night caps in my future. Totally recommend!

David H.

Yelp
This speakeasy theme is kinda played out overall but I enjoyed this place. Their drinks are expensive but they have some interesting cocktails that you don't see at most places. The beekeeper's daugher (Bourbon, Honey, Vanilla Cream, Absinthe) was a unique drink that I enjoyed and haven't seen anywhere else. There's no TV here either so don't come here to watch sports. Instead, you'll come here to have a drink and chill with your friends. They're only open in the evening but it's worth checking out for a drink if you're downtown.

Connie E.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cozy little bar tucked away in the heart of Raleigh this is the perfect spot. I decided to stop by for a girls night out on a Friday. I initially walked passed the location not realizing I had to walk down steps to go inside. Once I got there I was greeted by the hostess (there is a one time $1 fee if you've never been there before). We were seated at a table and ordered a few rounds of drinks and one of their "snax" (garlic fries). The whiskey sour was well worth the money as they did not get stingy with the liquor. I also ordered 2 of their North Fork Fizz drinks which was soooooo delicious. We stayed there about 2 to 2.5 hours just chatting but it seemed to be more of a pit stop for a lot of people who dropped in. I loved the ambience and will definitely be back!!

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite spots in Raleigh. Great for intimate conversations and delicious cocktails. The entrance is a bit hidden - right between Beasley's and the Moore square parking deck. You'll descend into a dark, sultry underground venue with low lighting and even lower music. Find a corner to retreat to, or pop to the bar to watch the bartenders work their magic first-hand. The wine menu is very good, but the cocktails are where Fox really shines. If you're unsure of what to order, tell the bartender what you're in the mood for flavor-wise and let them do their thing. And check out the newly-featured small bites menu if you get a little noshy. I'd recommend Fox for date nights and perhaps a small group of friends. Saturday's are pretty busy, so be prepared for a slight wait perhaps.

Yelp
Fox Liquor Bar has always impressed me during my visits over the past few years. The space is cool and the drinks are worth the price. The Pink Lady and Marie Antoinette are both solid selections. If you are in downtown looking for a place to grab a few cocktails, check this spot out.

Ron W.

Yelp
While I'm more of a C. Grace and Foundation fan, Fox Liquor Bar can be appreciated and enjoyed if you know how to manage your visits. Given its popularity, I'm not coming here on any weekend night and later. But catch it in the early evening hours, Sunday to Thursday when you can have a peaceful conversation and not wait in line well, that works for me! The interior seems to have been brightened up, the bartenders are as solid as usual and you will get some VERY fancy drinks here. Not cheap but worth the amount they charge. Given all that, I still prefer the more casual vibe of Raleigh's other speak-easy type joints. You'll have a good time at Fox Liquor Bar, just be willing to deal with more crowds!

Brenna P.

Yelp
Ah yes, the staple pretentious cocktail bar. Members only and in a basement. It's like they send out these hipster manuals to bars in advance- right down to the pre-requisite outrageous mustachioed barkeeps. My cocktail was very good, and our server was very impressive at keeping all our (many orders) straight. Nowhere to be found however when we needed a check to leave. It's a date night done right kind of place, but not worth a repeat (or membership) in my opinion.

Amanda W.

Yelp
We used to come here somewhat regularly years ago when you would sit down and be presented with an entire binder of speciality cocktails to choose from. We had always favored this cocktail bar over some of the others because they also have draft beer, which my husband typically prefers over a cocktail. I'm not sure what has kept us away in recent years, but perhaps our subconscious knew that we wouldn't be fond of the changes we would find. Our most recent visit was early in the evening on a Saturday. There were a couple of booths occupied and a couple of other patrons at the bar. The "new" menu (admittedly, we haven't been here in a while, so I don't know how "new" the menu actually is) has been slashed down to a single sheet of paper with all of my old favorites nowhere to be found. With nothing jumping out at me I decided to order a classic margarita and my husband opted for a draft. I appreciate the effort that goes into craft cocktails, but for a fairly empty bar it still took quite a while to get our drinks. We weren't in a hurry, so I can overlook this, but I imagine it takes even longer when they're busier. My margarita was pretty, pretty expensive and gone pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it was mostly all ice, and still not even close to a full pour. There was 4, maybe 5 sips of cocktail, at $13 a pop we will get our cocktail fix someplace else.

Koral C.

Yelp
My favorite bar I've visited while in Raleigh. The drinks are craft cocktails! I will say the price tag reflects that but totally worth it if you appreciate high quality ingredients and specialty drinks. They slow freeze their ice which is the coolest thing, it makes the ice 100% clear! The atmosphere is super hip and trendy. Cool music and the staff was super friendly. It's a dark underground, speakeasy type bar. Highly recommend!

Mark S.

Yelp
Came here last week after a social event in downtown Raleigh. I heard the place was in a basement so I looked for a stairwell leading down. Inside, the place was very chill and classy. They have a cool seating area where you can sit down and have a relaxing conversation with friends. The restrooms are all unisex so props to them for doing that. They were all labeled "people rooms" I sat down by the bar area and this one bartender gave me a tall glass of water so you know the drinks are strong. I ordered a Kentucky Maid since Bourbon is kinda growing on me. The drink itself was very well made and I got the bang for the buck. This is a first for me but they put a single ball of ice in my drink which was pretty cool. The staff is friendly and the place is very clean. I'm a liquor guy so I can definitely find myself back here again for some cocktails.

Ana F.

Yelp
Went there over the weekend for some drinks with a friend, everyone there was super nice. From the hostess to the server. We both decided on the "keep calm, bramble on" and we weren't disappointed at all. Definitely gotta go back and try more drinks.

Olivia P.

Yelp
This place is everything a cool bar should be! It's a subterranean cavern with comfy leather furniture and a cozy vibe. The bartenders make delicious drinks and they are knowledgeable about every ingredient that goes in each glass. It's an upscale yet unpretentious booze-cave and I love it! MATTHEW is an awesome bartender and I was delighted to learn that the juices are fresh squeezed every day! I ordered a pineapple concoction that was sweet and refreshing and perfectly well balanced. We also had the cheddar cheese which is served with baguette crackers. (Yum)! This is my new favorite bar in Raleigh!

Ann C.

Yelp
This is my go to place for an amazing cocktail and where I take out of town guests if I want to impress. I'm a huge Ashley Christensen fan so of course love this spot with their superb cocktails. It's the kind of place where you tell the bartender that you like gin and strawberries and all of a sudden you have this cocktail you've never had before and you're not sure how you lived this long without it. They have different types of ice (which honestly is how I separate the mediocre bars from the outstanding ones) the bartenders are true mixologists and know their craft and do it exceptionally well. You have to be a member so sign up and don't forget your coin

Sohini G.

Yelp
Okay the ONLY reasons this place is not getting 5 stars is because my last experience the menu was not as good/unique as the times previously when I have been. In the past the menu has been extensive with many tikki style drinks and this time it had more of the standard drinks. Regardless - drinks were still delicious. If you are adventurous my favorite is to pick a liquor and have the bartender make a drink. I've recently fell in love with mezcal so they made an excellent mezcal drink for me. Quite dark location downstairs. Great for a chill night with a small group or a date. Recommend earlier in the night for a group or last spot for an intimate date. Get one of the unique drinks. Drinks are $$$ but they are strong so you do not need many!

Kevin S.

Yelp
Got my membership! Love the low-key feel! The drinks are unique and the environment reminds me of a speakeasy!

Scott H.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and tasty drinks. I have enjoyed drinks with friends and hosted business partners here.

Kianna C.

Yelp
Loved this place, the atmosphere was AMAZING and the 90s music was a hit with my friends. Will definitely back!!

Morgan S.

Yelp
Fox has that trendy-speakeasy-vibe that's always fun to find in a bar. From the nondescriptive sign to the unassuming stairs, you're bound to pass by this place at least once in your journey to find it (unless you've read through some Yelp reviews and gotten a few hints). I did really love their drink selection and it was a good atmosphere, very cozy and comfortable. I knocked off one star because we sat at our table for a good 8-10 minutes before our waiter came by (it was very slow at that point, only around 3-5 groups were there). We weren't sure if we needed to order at the bar and were at that awkward point where we were about to get up to go ask. No biggie but sometimes it helps to have the hostess tell you that a waiter will be with you or have your waiter run by quickly to let you know he'll be with you soon.

Seana C.

Yelp
The cocktails here are fantastic! This is the best cocktail bar I've been to in the triangle. I wish I could have consumed more than one, but I was able to sample the other cocktails that were ordered at the table and they were all fabulous. I had the Jane Taylor which was a tequila cocktail with coconut creme and cucumber, it was very well balanced and flavorful. I love how the menu shows what glass and what type of ice the drink comes with. We also had the French onion dip as a snack and it was amazing. It's everything I hope for when I buy onion dip at the store and it never lives up to my expectations. This dip was super smooth, with the perfect amount of caramelized onion flavor and topped with crispy fried onions. I will definitely be back to sample more cocktails and snacks.

John H.

Yelp
Second stop on Friday's liquor tour. Another cool subterranean bar, Fox is well known for shaping their own ice. The menu features drink names, ingredients, type of glass, and shape of the ice! Since we were just getting drinks we were ushered over to a standing room only area, which I think was nice because it saves table and bar space for people who are eating. I went with the Mexican Firing Squad because the name was cool and tequila was involved. Turned out to be a souped up margarita, and I don't mean that in a negative way. A strong concoction and well crafted. Wish we had stayed long enough to experience a little bit more, but turned in for the night after the Firing Squad took me down.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Amazing drinks in looks, tastes as well as quality of alcohol! Bartenders are very nice and responsive to our requests! Orders are a little pricey but it guarantees the crowd/customers. Been here twice and haven't felt disappointed yet.

Colby R.

Yelp
Meh. I wish 2.5 stars was a thing. This wasn't poor enough for 2 stars but it wasn't okay enough for 3. The vibe for me was pretty odd. We went with a fairly sizable group for a friend's birthday and several members of our party had been before. Apparently there had been some changes in the time between visits and there's some sort of need for a membership? I couldn't hear the whole exchange but someone in our group I guess had a membership. They didn't have any open tables so we were led to a pole in the middle of the bar and told that was our standing room. Maybe it's just me but I found this incredibly odd. You can only stand in this specific place? In a bar? Anyway, our drinks for the 5 of us who ordered at once took about 20 minutes and 2 of us just had a beer instead of a cocktail drink so I felt like that was too long to wait. Then, after a few rounds, our waitress brought the bill as one instead of asking how to split it and asked us to write down who had what and split it ourselves. Just seemed like a lot of work for drinks that at $15 each. Can't say I'll be going back but nothing was specially awful - just nothing enjoyable enough to get me to return.

Nate H.

Yelp
Fox Liquor Bar is a classy joint to take people that are visiting Raleigh and also a great place for locals who enjoy a nice cocktail. This is not a place that I would frequent on a regular basis, but it is a nice place to go every once in a while for a celebratory drink. My only complaint here is the price (you're going to pay at least $10 for a drink and for most closer to $15). As long as you go in with this understanding, then you will thoroughly enjoy this place. Fox Liquor Bar has a great ambience and it would be great for a date night. The lights are low, the place is lit by candlelight, and all of the furniture is dark leather. Like I said, it's a classy place. Seems like the kind of place that Teddy Roosevelt would have had a drink and, if we're being honest, that's the gold standard. I had one of their specialty bourbon drinks and also wanted to try their take on the Old Fashioned. Both were very good. They do a great job of coming up with creative drinks with multiple ingredients that all complement one another without letting the liquor be overpowered. In both drinks that I had, the flavor of the bourbon was able to shine through. In the end, that's the goal. The bartenders were extremely attentive and helpful. They brought us waters without us asking, which was appreciated since it was one of those 100 Degree Heat Index days. If you are unsure what you want, they will ask you a number of questions about your preferences and design a drink that fits you. I would highly recommend Fox Liquor Bar. I will definitely be back in the future. If the drinks weren't as pricey as they are, I would absolutely give this place five stars. Regardless of the price, Fox Liquor Bar is a great experience and they serve up some excellent cocktails.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, excellent service and the food was fantastic. If I were around in the '20s I would definitely think this spot resembled it. The music was also fantastic. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Mindy L.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in downtown Raleigh. You can walk by it and miss it if you don't look up and see the sign. Once you see it, you go downstairs and you're there. I have been here after work, during the weekends, and have taken my friends here for their first time. Their ice is perfect and always designed for the specific drink. The bartenders are very friendly and have great suggestions when you want to try something new. It's a great place to have a great cocktail with your close friends, date, or just to relax after work.

Jessica M.

Yelp
It's ok... paid $14 for this drink... the beekeeper daughter and it's literally an ice cube an about 1-2 oz of a drink.. SUCH a rip off. We left watts and ward for this. Will not come back! Don't make me pay for a block of ice... seriously?

Rachel B.

Yelp
Great cocktail choices. They used to have intimate seating with some couches, but now they are all booths and tables. Not sure how I feel about that change.

Molly R.

Yelp
This place is different. Firstly, the seating is not very intimate at all... for a table of two you're often sitting uncomfortably close to another couple on either side. The menu is small, definitely for an acquired taste but the server can usually make a good suggestion if you tell them what you're interested in. I'd go here again but would hope the seating situation changes.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Fox's is my go-to pre-dinner drink spot downtown. I love coming between 5 and 6 pm because they've just opened and you usually have the place to yourself - plenty of opportunity to ask the bartenders questions or just chat and watch them make drinks in a relaxed/non-rushed atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I love going to Fox's any time, but this happy hour seems to be the sweet spot of fresh, not-burned-out-yet bartenders, perfectly executed drinks (since yours is the only one in the queue) and your choice of seats - a stark contrast to this place at 11pm on a Saturday. The menu has a mixed of delicous classic and inventive cocktails, always $11.The bar itself is clean and well stocked and it's fascinating to watch the bartenders work. The atmosphere is very dark with brick walls and loungy couches scattered around. It is always disarming to leave this bar and emerge into day/evening light. Definitely a romantic spot if it's not too slammed. Order the meat and cheese selections - great portion sizes to snack on while drinking.

Janet L.

Yelp
Great service, nice atmosphere. Came here for Valentine's Day and they had a special Valentine's Day drink special. We ordered: "Let down your hair" - white rum, aged run, raspberry, homemade orgeat, aromatic bitters, lime, mint "Study do-right"- bonded bourbon, Martinique run, bitters, ginger, honey, lime, soda Both were great! Love this place!

Jeff S.

Yelp
First time visitor, fan for life now. It was cold last night. Or more accurately, it was windy. Really windy. The missus and I didn't have 'plans' for Valentines, we just wanted to go out. We ended our night at the Fox Liquor Bar. It had been on both of our 'must go sometime' lists for a long time. We easily found it, There was a line out the door, about 10 people long. We haven't stood in line to go to a bar since...college. That was a long time ago. It was definitely worth the 15 minute or so wait, even in the brutal cold/wind. We were led downstairs and to our seating area, some nice leather couch and chairs. Immediately (and throughout the night) our 2 water glasses were filled. About 5 minutes later, we had our order taken. The space downstairs is huge and perfectly laid out. This is our kind of place. Chill. And they were playing a ton of music from the '90s..which was about the last time we had to wait to get into a bar. The drinks were as good as advertised - presentation and taste. We paid $33+tip for 3 cocktails. They could probably get away with charging more in other towns - but seems about right for Raleigh. On our way out, the missus said, well this place definitely lives up to the hype. I couldn't agree more. The service and ambience are as good as the drinks, if not better.

Yelp
I wanna take you home I won't do you no harm You've got to be all mine Ooh foxy lady Try searching for the address in Google Map, and I guarantee you will get lost! The Addy says S. Wilmington, because AC holds monopoly at this corner with Chuck's, Beasley's, and Fox (not Fox's? why break the pattern that started with Poole's?) The entrance to Fox is actually around the corner facing E. Martin, and once you navigate down the narrow stairs, you find yourself a classy speakeasy, right under Beasley's kitchen actually. I've heard it can get quite busy and full-house at times, but friends and I managed to pick a night the entire Raleigh did not feel like coming downtown. The menu contains your usual suspects of standard cocktails like a martini/Manhattan or Collin or Negroni or Old-fashioned, and then there are some creative sips like the Tequila Honeysuckle, which is very palate-pleasing. Also, Sazerac has become a favorite for me, but I did not see it on the menu; I asked nicely at the bar, and she dug out her little bartender flip book, and made me one. That's top notch service to me. I think someone mentioned "fancy-priced," and fancy-priced cocktails you will find here. If you are used to $2 PBR or $3 draft, your tab here will be quite a shock to you.

Kathryn E.

Yelp
We all have places that we go to despite where we are in life. I feel like Fox is one of those places. Since it's opening I've always loved to take people there for an incredible drink and to just slow down the hectic pace of life. It's a great place for dates due to the atmosphere and not being overly loud. Everything on the menu is finely crafted and the bartenders know exactly what to give you when you let them know what you like.

Katharine D.

Yelp
What delicious drinks!!!! Man, the drink repertoire at this place is incredible. I can't say I'm an expert with cocktails and drink menus, but I was thoroughly impressed by the number of choices laid out nicely for those of us who have a hard time thinking of a drink from memory as well as the not so common ingredients in most of them. LOVE IT!!! I never thought I'd go with a cocktail which had a mild bitter and spicyness to it. Real neat. Fyi- not all of their drinks are off the wall! There's a full bar so let your imagination run wild. The atmosphere was also something to gloat about. The establishment is located in a basement with cozy couches for lounging, dim lighting, and cool unfinished basementy walls. It is a real nice place to relax and have some great conversation. The wait staff were attentive and pleasing. I highly recommend having some drinks here! I'll definitely be doing so again soon.

Devrim G.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this spot. Tucked away beneath Beasley's (which, by the way, has some of the best chicken & honey this side of the Mississippi), this swanky hideaway has everything you're looking for from your local basement bar. Friendly bartenders (Montrey is the best bartender in Raleigh, hands down), exotic yet delicious mixed drinks, dim lighting that understands the fine line between tastefully dim and not being able to see the menu, and an atmosphere that will make you wish you were in the 1920s so you could drink underground with Gatsby and F Scott Fitzgerald #prohibition I love Fox, and you will, too. Trust me on this one.

Rose V.

Yelp
I've been to the Fox on many occasions and always enjoyed the atmosphere even if the drinks are a bit pricey. Seems that things have changed in the underground lounge, no longer an appealing cozy feel. Used to have couches and chairs with coffee tables to relax in,giving you that sort of 1920s speakeasy vibe. The place was the same dark underground room but now with booths and tables. Seemed like a Denny's restaurant as opposed to a cool bar. Really don't like the change in atmosphere and probably won't be back.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I think the biggest concern/downside to this chill spot downtown, would be their drink prices. $11 for a Mai Tai?! PREPOSTEROUS. However, you must consider that each drink on this steep menu holds not-so-common forms of liquor for you to enjoy. The waiter even let me try the Campari that is in the Bitter Mai Tai, and oh yes. Very bitter. Altough, 4 out of 5 stars to this bar for its location, aura, and great wait staff! Will definitely be coming back again sometime soon!

Ryan S.

Yelp
Cocktails are delicious! I had two -- one was a refreshing gin, Rosemary, and ginger concoction and the other was a latte-inspired drink. The coffee one was a perfect "dessert" and totally worth the 10$! The bar food/snacks are also a lot of fun -- I highly recommend the onion dip.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Underground bar with a very cool ambience. Great cocktails and very attentive staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and experience. We had the Madly Involved and Kentucky Maid- both were outstanding! We will definitely be back. Thanks so much!

Courtney W.

Yelp
I like that this place feels like a secret. I also like that they try not to let but so many in at a time. It can be a little loud but don't be shy to ask the bartenders questions they know there stuff. With cool ice cubes and even cooler drinks go check this joint out around the corner from Beasley's!

Yelp
There are no words that can possibly come close to how I feel about Fox's! I have had so many great experiences in this bar with friends from all over North Carolina. There can be a small wait, but it is worth it. Once inside, you have a choice of standing along the wall with a ledge to hold your drinks, couches and chairs, or the bar seating. All are unique and fantastic. The bartenders (very attractive) are always very quick and make great cocktails! They have custom ice blocks they shave for the drinks. One of my favorite drinks is the Penicillin. And, The Old Fashioned is awesome too. Bathrooms are plentiful and clean (no standing in urine and toilet paper at Fox's). The under ground bar is an AMAZING experience!! Membership is only ONE DOLLAR, so why not go and try it out? I promise you will have a fantastic time!!

Yelp
Hands-down the best liquor drinks in Raleigh - cool ambiance with a very attentive staff and professional bartenders. If you don't find anything that jumps out at you from their menu, you can simply tell the bartender what you like/are feeling and they'll make you something bespoke. Their cheese + meat menu is additive to the overall experience but since they don't have a full food offering, you may need to become a "member". Could have sworn they moved away from the membership thing but it's actually based in NC law and less that they just want to be "trendy" - i.e.: World of Beer Considered expensive by some, but definitely a great value - perfect for starting or ending a night. Probably wouldn't want to have more than 2-3 drinks here if you plan on remembering the evening.

Yelp
Came with the BF to see Raleigh's nightlife and found this cute spot. It was in a nice location with an entrance that felt like a speakeasy. Down the staircase and into the hole, the bar opens up in front of you as you walk in. This place has tons of comfy seating around the left side with couches facing each other and a coffee table in between. It looks like there could be a fair amount of people in without it feeling too crowded. Since we came on a Tuesday night it was pretty empty. The bartenders were friendly and made some pretty good drinks and good conversation. We both had the bartenders choice and mine was delicious and refreshing, exactly what I wanted. The bf had a bourbon drink that he wasn't a huge fan of, so they remade it and changed the liquor to rum which was nice. The atmosphere was casual, almost made me feel like I was back in Seattle but with some Southern flair. I would most definitely recommend it if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a chill spot to catch up with friends or people watch with your sweetie.

Yelp
Walked in without a reservation at ~7:30 PM on a Saturday. There were sofas and spots at the bar available so we opted for the bar. We both tried bartender's choice drink (his preference bourbon, my preference gin) and we were not disappointed. Both the bartenders and hostess were very friendly and welcoming (sometimes the service can be a bit uppity at speak easys but not here). Great ambiance, decor, service & drinks. We came here before drinks at Bida Manda since it's just around the corner.
