Fox Meadow Vineyards & Winery

Made a reservation to sit on the deck at noon! That’s when they open, so my friend and I had our pick at tables that were available, since we were one of the few people there at the time! Our server was Melissa(?) I believe. And she was fantastic. Came back to check on us throughout the visit, and made sure we had everything we needed! We also bonded over our love for reading! Great service and very personable! The small charcuterie board was fantastic. I say “small” because that’s how it’s labeled on the menu, but it was PLENTY for 2, maybe even 3 people! Everything, including the wine, was very tasty! The views were gorgeous. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful mountain views and vineyard. Great idea of having Cousins Maine Lobsters. The deck area was great. There were only adults enjoying wine and food, conversations fllowing, smiles and nature. It was wonderful..Pet friendly. The autumn tasting menu was great. An amazing afternoon.

What an elegant and enchanting experience! The table setting was very inviting, the music was perfect, and the meal was phenomenal. The wines paired perfectly with each course. As always, the service at Fox Meadow is always impeccable- Rita is very connected with her customers and provides superior customer service. Amanda did a great job of educating the guests on the inspiration for the meal as well as the wine pairings. 10/10 recommend!

Fox Meadow has been a go-to vineyard of mine for nearly a decade. You can’t beat the beautiful views. Just a little over an hour outside of DC, you’re immediately transported to a calm and scenic spot overlooking the vineyard and surrounding mountains. This is a chill vineyard, unlike some of the party vineyards that attract bus loads of bachelorette parties (you know the ones!). They occasionally have live acoustic music too, to enjoy in the background while sipping on a glass of wine. 🍷 If you ARE looking for a place to celebrate something special, they do have space to host tasteful events. I have celebrated three birthdays here (see photos!), including a recent milestone birthday! 🎉 For my latest birthday gathering here, the owner Amanda was very helpful and communicative throughout the whole planning process. She ensured my group would have a place to be (even on a day with inclement weather AND Father’s Day reservations). They provided a beautiful bouquet of hand-picked flowers, took good care of my group, and made sure we had everything we would need to enjoy our visit. Overall: wine, service, and views are great. Highly recommend!! PS: they’re dog friendly, so my dog has been coming here since he was a puppy. They give him lots of attention, have water bowls handy, and provide dog treats too. What’s not to love?!?

Gorgeous view, really nice staff who actually serve you at your table, and great wine and snacks. There was even live music on the Saturday when we were there. Great atmosphere. It felt like we were away on vacation.

Our family has enjoyed many visits to Fox Meadow Vineyards since spring of 2021. We are fans of their wines, particularly a red wine named “Situationally Dependent” and of their location, which has a beautiful view out over both their vineyards, the surrounding wooded areas, and The Blue Ridge Mountains on the horizon. Their wine club is a great way to enjoy their products regularly throughout the year. Highly recommend!

We love this winery! We have been to many wineries in the area and this is by far our favorite. We love the winery so much that this is where my (now) fiancé decided to propose. He worked with Amanda and they set up a super special day for us with a wine and food tasting and a private table for the proposal. Every little detail from our favorite wine (Freezeland White), cute snacks, and the prettiest bouquet of flowers made it a perfect day! Great people, great wine, the best views. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Sexy Boujee Winos (SBW) Our recent tour on February 9th was an absolute delight, as we were graciously hosted by two exceptional wineries. Our first stop was the stunning Fox Meadow Vineyard, where Amanda, our gracious host, was eager to collaborate with me on creating the perfect small bites and food pairings. Amanda and Stephanie were absolutely fantastic as they ensured that everyone was happy and having a great time. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the wine and food pairings were a huge success. The bottles were flowing, and the winery was filled with the sound of laughter and joy. The staff is very friendly and helped us choose the perfect wine based on our preferences. The view from the deck and grass boasts beautiful views of the blue ridge mountains. Great food choices as well.

My husband and I visited on the Sunday before Memorial Day. There was ample outdoor seating with shade that allowed us to enjoy a beautiful view. We ordered 2 custom flights (4 wines, $25) and a small charcuterie board to share. Our favorite wines were Le Renard Gris and Le Renard Rouge. We thought the wine was pricey for the quality/quantity, but did enjoy it. The charcuterie board was a pleasant surprise and a good value for the price compared to other wineries! We got 3 cheeses: we got to choose our flavor of goat cheese (we selected honey) and also got Bellavitano and Camembert. We also got 2 types of salami, crackers, green and pink olives (never had a pink olive before!), fig jam, and chocolate covered almonds. We also supplemented with a baguette, which I felt was a good decision (especially for the soft goat cheese). We're big eaters and didn't finish the board. I would recommend this winery as a good stop if you're looking for lunch.

My family and I were staying in a house across the street from Fox Meadow and finally made our way over one afternoon , they did not disappoint! We left the kids at home and went for a tasting, we ended up staying for several hours and had a bottle, appetizers, and bought another bottle to go! The owner was so nice and most importantly their wine is delicious. There are new owners so some of the older reviews that aren't great should be disregarded. Oh, and the views are incredible, so serene and beautiful, we could have stayed there all day. Go to this winery and support a family who is committed to a great experience. Will definitely return!

LOVE this place. been back twice, didn't disappoint. I'd make reservations, just in case .. they do fill up fast. We got the flight, tuscany cheese, crackers and chutney. That chutney is a must! I've tried the mango and hot peach now.. amazing. The view is amazing ... can enjoy the beautiful blue ridge mountain .. make sure to sit outside on th balcony when the weather is acceptable!

Hubby and I visited Fox Meadow during the pandemic in passing through town. It did not disappoint! Pro's: -Friendly and knowledgeable customer service -Wine tasting is self walk through. You get a few samples with a description card. This helped us choose which bottle to purchase. -Indoor and outdoor seating available. Indoor was very spacious following social distancing rules. There was a separate room with more tables. Balcony is open with a beautiful view. -The Chardonnay was our favorite. Very light and refreshing. -Reservations are required for weekends -Clean bathrooms Con's: -It is on the smaller side for seating and probably would get crowded or have a wait during prime times/days. -Closes early at 5pm -No outside food allowed unless it is at the picnic area -A bit more on the pricey side Would visit Fox Meadow for the ambiance and beautiful views!

Went in for a tasting at $15 per person. They give you a paddle with four individual containers of 2021 Unoaked Chardonnay, 2021 Pinot Grigio, 2020 Meritage, 2019 Le Renard Rouge. Not a fan of the first, unimaginative, bit I am not a fan of Chardonnays that are not buttery. This is a crisp and light chardonnay, most will like it. The other three are much better. I loved them all! Wine is a personal experience, come to your own conclusion. Overall, Fox Meadow has been solid for years, they put out a very good product. The good.... they've changed ownership and they appear friendlier to families and groups. We had a group of five ranging from 21 to 49. We had a relaxing time, they have simply one of the best views of all the vineyards in our area. It is clean, with good parking and plenty of room. The tasting room, deck and surrounding areas are well kept. Needs work on... the tasting is cool yet falls short. Meaning, they give you the cool beer room paddle, a tasting sheet and briefly explain exactly what's on the paper. My problem with this is, 1) I can read, and 2) there is no experience with this. I get it, it allows them to serve more people which is good, however there is no opportunity to ask questions, or just have the experience of a tasting. What grapes were used, what's is the blend or process for the wine making? You get none of that. What makes this stand out versus others? You get none of that here. To be clear, we went on a Monday at noon. Nobody else is here. So it is not as they are packed and trying to get to the next group of customers. Overall... I really do love their wine and it is such a pretty place. They are a long way from the previous owners with friendliness. A BIG improvement. I will definitely be coming back for a glass with my wife. But if you want an experience with wine tatstings, I feel they need an improvement.

It's been years since my previous review, so I figured it's time for an update. I don't know if the wines changed or my palate did, but this was a VERY different tasting experience from what I remember. The wine list trended towards dry, with a few easy-drinking options that tend towards sweet or semi sweet. The dryer options tend to be what I'd call more 'old world' style, heavily relying upon French grapes and very nice blends (although the single varietal Merlot was pretty awesome). They are also almost unique in the state in that they offer tiny food pairings. This is NOT a meal; they are tiny bites to accentuate the flavor profile of the wine. But they are well thought out and wonderful to try. A lot of comments focus on the view and it's hard for me to add more to it - but I shall. The winery is at 1700-ish feet, which makes this one of the higher-elevation wineries in NOVA. I'd recommend you visit for the wine, but if you came only for that amazing view, I wouldn't blame you one bit.

Love this place. Amazing views. Great, dog friendly patio. New ownership has also added lots of little touches and items to their menu (like charcuterie boards) that are very much appreciated. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

*pandemic era review* We made a trip here from DC to escape the city. We started with a private wine tasting, featuring a sample of 6 of their wines. It was very much a self guided wine tasting. Having a baseline knowledge of how to taste wines helps. But seriously, sampling wine for the sake of figuring out what you like (or what to buy from this winery) has merit too. I'm a bold dry red wine person and my eating partner is a sweet white person. We both agreed that Le Renard Rouge was our favorite red. I preferred the Oakes Chardonnay and my partner the Blue Mountain Mist for the white selection. We finished on the balcony with a bottle of Renard Rouge and some smile bites (small baguette, smoked cheddar and salami). The food could have used a better presentation, especially for the price as it all came in its store bought packaging. However this may have been the safest mode given the pandemic. We got a sample of their mulled wine, so delish! Covid things- they have a very large patio to dine on while overlooking the vineyard. They also have picnic tables out by the vineyard. The tables inside and outside are well distanced beyond 6 feet. They limit customers by requiring reservations. And mask wearing is adhered too. If you're in the area or looking for an easy day trip from DC, this is a nice spot.

The Chardonnay was refreshing, the view spectacular, and the live music was excellent (talented, good voice, and did not over power the conversations in the room). The space wasn't crowded, which might have been because of the rain. Still, we had to wait a few minutes for our tasting. It was worth it though: three of the tasting had delicious food pairings of cheese or chutney. Then, my two friends and I had a great picnic and even ran into some other people we knew- always a good sign, right?

Customer service: similar to other experiences, we were not greeted upon arrival and they failed to acknowledge us, we were not members. Once they finally got to us they rushed our tasting and didn't bother much to engage in any type of conversation with us. They wanted us to try the wine and get the heck out. 1 star for service for pouring out wine Scenery: stunning views and location. The drive and getting there and looking at the property made it worth it at least. Wine: tasting is overpriced to say the least. we had 5 tasting for $10pp with food pairing. We got there around 3 pm on a Saturday and by the time we had our tasting all but one of the food pairing was gone. They could have opened a new chutney jar or cheese, etc but they said they were about to close so they did not want to open new products..... Weird since they advertise they closed at 5 and also we were paying a full price. Prices:Overall the wine is just as good as something you can get a trader Joe's for $3-4 per bottle but you pay 5-6x th price here. Also, we like to pack a picnic basket and order a bottle or 2 and just enjoy ourselves. Their policy does not allow you to do this here unless you are a member (that's fine) but be ready to take your business somewhere else if you want to do that.

*sigh* I am a HUGE Fox Meadows fan but my last visit was the worst I've experienced. The view is the best but the service was awful. Cheryl was rude to our party and while I WILL admit that we were 2 people over the limit (we had a party of 8) we were legitimately unaware until we were trying to figure out why she was being be so rude to us. Someone in my group finally spotted a notation on the menu and said "oh no! It says party of 6 right here." We have no idea if that is even why she was rude but that's the only thing I can think of unless she just hates her job??? But anyway, It was truly an honest mistake on our end but regardless, being the face of a business (since she was the only one there), you need to be professional and keep your emotions in check. She wore her emotions on her sleeve and it made things extremely awkward.

Great wines and great views! Very nice staff; deck with umbrellas for shade and dog friendly- we will definitely be back.

We showed up at 4:05pm, knowing that they closed at 5pm. I specifically asked the woman serving us when the last call was, and she said, not until 5:30/5:45. Then, when 5:00 rolled around and we tried to order another bottle, for 4 people, they declined, saying they were closed. The manager was rude, and unaccommodating. This is our second bad experience here, and we will not be coming back. Plus, they're wines are mediocre at best.

I'll echo what the other reviewers have stated - although this is a young winery - they have some nice wines that have a lot of potential. I took two of my friends here today - it was a cold, cloudy, overcast day - a perfect day for visiting wineries! We tasted 8 wines. As one of the other reviewers mentioned - we were given a taste of foods with some of the wines to demonstrate how they change with food. We were given a couple of cheeses and some chocolate - depending on the wine. We started off with the 2006 Pinot Gris, then moved quickly to the 2006 Pinot Grigio so that we could compare and contrast the two. Next up was their 2006 "non-oaked" Chardonnay, which we then compared with their 2006 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay. We then moved to the reds. First, the 2005 Syrah, followed by the 2004 and 2005 Cabarnet Franc. We then finished with a dessert wine - the Freezeland White. Very yummy dessert wine! I bought a bottle each of the following: - 2006 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay - 2005 Syrah - 2005 Cabernet Franc - Freezeland White We then took our picnic lunch we had brought with us out on their deck and had a nice lunch before heading out: smoked salmon, salami, turkey, swiss cheese, crusty bread, wheat crackers, blue cheese, Irish cheese, Feta-stuffed olives, baby carrots, strawberries, blueberries, lemon-dill Hummus, and chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert!

Fox Meadow Winery is lovely. The grounds and the view are beautiful. It's the perfect place to unwind, take a deep breathe, relax, and enjoy the scenery. We went on a Friday around noon. There were just a few other people there, which was nice so that we were able to chat with the tasting room wine pros about the different wines. You can do a tasting of 3 reds and 3 whites for $10, which is standard from a pricing perspective. We knew we wanted red though, so we just tried two and then bought a bottle of the Chambourcin to enjoy while we were there. The Chambourcin is a type of wine less common in stores. We loved it- an easy-drinking red. They allow you to bring in food during the week, so we brought a spread of meats, cheese, and baguette to have with the wine, which was perfect. Note that on the weekends and federal holidays, they only allow food outside. In the tasting room youd have to buy their food, which of course is great to have if you didn't bring anything with you. We bought another bottle to take home with us. Great experience.

Fox Meadows gets my vote for best tasting experience offered by any winery in the area. Jim walked us through our full tasting ($7.50), which included some food pairings. Jim was awesome. He took pride in sharing history, fun facts, and the right tempo for an enjoyable tasting. The Cab Franc was delightful and my favorite. This wind was smooth and medium bodied. We bought a bottle for a steak night...later that night. Very drinkable. The detail that Fox Meadows pays - including some cheese pairings and a chutney. Letting you know when pairings were coming so you'd know the pace. Really nice. The views are beautiful. It's a smaller deck but they also had some pretty sweet music playing. Good job all around.

We passed by here on a gorgeous day and decided to have some wine. The 2013 Riesling was pretty good and we enjoyed it with a beautiful view. They have bread and cheese, they don't have peanuts :-p

Fox Meadow offers some of the best wines + best views in Va. wine country, from Charlottesville to Leesburg. The ambience/experience is just as great as the product they offer, as the winetender was super knowledgable/we enjoyed some great conversation, and she was excellent in advising what wines we should order. The reds were flavorful and well structured, as was the chardonnay, which provided some melon + honeysuckle + oaky vanilla flavors. There's a wine for everyone, so make sure to stop in! I'll be back for sure.

Went with daughter & her dog. Staff were friendly and helpful, other guests were comfortable around dogs, other dogs friendly too. Pizza was fantastic. The Haus white wine was so good.

The views from the tasting room deck are magnificent but I was disappointed in the wines. They tasted flat and sour. Virginia is for lovers, not winemaking.

The wine is great, and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They won't rattle off some tasting notes from memory, they actually discuss the wine from their experiences drinking it, because again, the wine is really good. The grapes are grown on the property, and there is something for everyone: semi-sweet wines with residual sugar and dry wines (that are outstanding). There merlot may be the best in the region. Tastings are very reasonable ($8), and they do a light food pairing so you can taste how the wines change. And yes, the view is great, but it's more important that the wine is actually good, isn't it?

A great winery with a broad selection of whites and reds on its tasting menu. The glasses are reasonably priced but the bottles are a bit overpriced. They serve cheese and snacks along with the $10 pairing, and you can purchase a wide array of snacks after the tasting. The view is stunning and the staff is very friendly.

This is wine country. Enjoyed a relaxing tasting, than took advantage of their wonderful deck with a spectacular view. Definitely recommend this winery.

I really like this winery - i know other reviews poo poo the wine and the service. I found this place before i found yelp. That was about 6 years ago. It was a young winery and they were still getting some of their grapes from outside sources. The road up "the mountain" can be twisty and seem like it goes forever, but it is really under 10 miles from the exit of the highway. We found some whites we enjoyed and the cab franc. They currently cannot ship to colorado, but if you have friends and family near by they can ship it for you! wink wink! This year we finally made it back - we have found another favorite! The La Renard Rouge 2009 - wow. We really like that one! The staff can be less than attentive at times, but the pairings and fun banter and discussion can make the time spent there be at least interesting! We went after an ice storm came thru and the place looked super amazing. I love the views, the balcony. Stop by and enjoy.

Fox Meadow is, by far, my favorite area winery. The property and tasting room are gorgeous. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. The wines are very good and not ridiculously overpriced. The Le Renard Rouge is my favorite--one of my favorite things to do is sneak away to Fox Meadow on a weekday and enjoy a bottle on the deck with my husband. When we have brought our two-year-old along, the staff has always been welcoming of him as well. Fox Meadow's wine club also gets two thumbs up, especially for the two free tastings every visit. They frequently have well-thought-out special events, like fudge/wine pairings or black glass tastings, and there's always music on the weekends. Fox Meadow is an all around fantastic Virginia winery!

The wine is very good and the view spectacular. Special events are enjoyable and they work hard to take care of the customer. The owner is receptive and willing to make adjustments to ensure you have a pleasurable experience. This is one of our favorites. Give it a try.

I've been to a lot of Virginia wineries and I have to say I was extremely disappointed with Fox Meadow. While the wine is good and views are drop dead gorgeous - the service was absolutely terrible. Friends and I arrived after a long drive on skyline drive looking forward to doing a tasting as none of us had been before. I waited patiently for the counter to clear to step up to do a tasting. After about 15 minutes - I walked up with my group of 3 and was only told then that I needed to be on the waiting list to do a tasting and could I please get to the back of the check out line to be added to the waiting list. ?!?!?!? There was no indication that there was a list at all and people were waiting in line to pay for bottles and glasses? After we were added to the list we waited about another 15-20 minutes at which point we step up to the part of the bar they told me we'd go to. I was then told we had to wait for Kate's party...and the woman left to go find Kate? Once we got started everything went fairly smoothly until we had to pay for the tastings and order wine. There was no efficiency to this process - people going back and forth to the check out then to a check out on the other side of the room all together. Mind you - this was a Saturday at about 4:45-5PM with absolutely gorgeous weather...not sure why they wouldn't have staffed appropriately to avoid long wait lines Finally when we got wine we went outside to enjoy the view. One of us in our party went to speak to the manager about our dissatisfaction and were met with excuses of their door person didn't come in today. Also FYI they do not have publicly accessible wifi - and there's really no service up there either. Normally I'd say they'd be doing themselves a disservice because who wouldn't want free publicity of people posting on social media but i can't imagine that anyone would have really anything great to say about the service. I recommend going to one of the many other Virginia Wineries on 66.

Picturesque winery. Stopped in on a rainy day. Not very busy. We got full attention at the bar and was given $8 samples of reds and whites with food pairings. All the wines matched perfect with the food samples. Delicious cheeses. Purchased the Syrah and blue mountain white.

We visited this winery and it was a favorite. You can have a lot of great wine and people but this view is priceless. Rolling misty hills of Virginia while you sip delicious wine, with cheese and crackers on the deck! Nice, knowledgeable people to help you sort thru the wine list.

An easy hour and a half's drive from DC, this is the place to go for a picnic on the deck that includes a bottle of Freezeland White (delicious on a hot day, this wine is fruity and priced reasonably at $18 bottle) and some local cheese (we tried a raw, white cheddar). Mostly though, Fox Meadow stands apart for a breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its easygoing & unpretentious air. During my most recent visit, I did not participate in a tasting but simply came for the view, some wine & cheese and peace w/my s o away from the city. It was kind of a mini-vacation & couldn't have been better. Fox Meadow is located at approximately 3,000 feet in the Blue Ridge range and definitely feels a world away from the beltway.Even though you can comfortably do this visit in an afternoon coming in from the city. The first time I came here, I did a tasting which was nice ($6 to try 6 wines that were paired w/food which I didn't try), and came away w/one bottle each of barrel fermented chardonnay & Renard rouge. Next time I visit (hopefully in the fall!), I'll look forward to learning more about the wine making process from the friendly owners and once again enjoying the stunning view.

Super wine tasting with a great nut pairing made for a fantastic tasting. Fun people to hang with on a busy day. Great balcony for enjoying the day and meeting new people. Great choices!

Love the scenery ! This is my second time coming here before going hiking and just like my first time it was a great experience. Delicious wine options and great staff.

My husband and I love Fox Meadow's wine. Next to Vintage Ridge, this is the winery that offers the most unique and influential food pairings. The owners truly take the time to think about the best cheese, or other food item, to pair with the best wine. Case in point: Their Barrel Fermented Chardonnay has been a favorite of mine for years. One time, we were lucky enough to stop by when they were pouring it for tasting. (Heads up, Fox Meadow rotates their selection of 6 - 7 wines for tasting frequently) We were treated to the most interesting pairing - an oregano sharp white cheddar cheese. This was honestly mind-blowing for me and my 3 friends. The heavily oaked, buttery Chardonnay changed into a steel-fermented, tart and fruity Chardonnay after eating the cheese! Outstanding! Fox Meadow also hosts numerous events, yet they never seem overly crowded, unlike some other wineries in the area. My husband and I enjoyed their vertical tasting of the 2011 Governor's Cup winning wine for reds - Le Renard Rouge. Also, we attended their Fudge-a-Palooza and a day when they had BBQ. Other than that, Fox Meadow's new Chambourcin is phenomenal. Most of their wines are, and while I wish I could remember more, I think this just shows that I'm overdue for a return visit!

I think this is 3.5 stars to me, primarily because the wines didn't really win me over on their own. The wines are decent, just not fully to my taste overall; others around me were fans though. Fox Meadow is a smallish vineyard (at this location, at least) located amid beautiful hilltop scenery. The tasting and production rooms are small but cozy, and the staff is warm and friendly. The building has a wonderful deck overlooking distant hills, with several picnic tables (also a few in the grass below) for enjoying the wine and small bits you can order inside. All that said, what this vineyard does amazingly well is the food pairings. I mentioned that their wines weren't really to my taste, but the flavors in these same wines lit up when paired with specific foods they brought out during the tasting. If I reviewed the pairing skills alone, this would easily be five stars!

7 wines for $7.50 pp, wine bottles $30-40 range. Not much of an atmosphere. My pet peeve is Fox Meadow claims itself to be a "dog friendly" winery and It's not. While touring the vineyards in the surrounding area, my boyfriend had called to confirm Fox Meadow's pet policy and was told they were pet friendly. Needless to say, we drove and made it all the way to Fox Meadow to be told by a rather snarky old lady that pets are not allowed in the tasting room but could go out on the patio and when asked if we could have a wine tasting outside, she said they would not accommodate us. Annoyed that we had made the trip and was misinformed, we left. Note to Fox Meadow: Do NOT advertise your establishment as pet friendly, oh quite the contrary friends! Next! We took our business to other vineyards which were much more accommodating and welcoming.

The view is fantastic. On a clear day you can see all the way to the monistary hangging off the side of a mountain. The tasteings are always fun, paired well and decently priced. The bottle prices I found a bit high but id doent get any fresher than looking at the grapes grow and drinking the wine.

Beautiful scenery; nice Chardonnay and a very nice staff. Unlike another winery we went to today (Linden), they were very welcoming here. We will definitely come back!

Fox Meadow is the best. Hands down they were my favorite winery before COVID, and the way they have handled themselves and their business just makes me love them more. The wines are amazing, the views leave you in awe, and the people are absolutely wonderful. I have so many great things to say about this place, and they deserve your business. Come and truly enjoy yourself at this magical place!

Great vineyard, with beautiful views! They have an outdoor area that you can bring your own food and sit at too, however I wish it had some sort of shade! Overall, nice winery with beautiful, peaceful views. The wine was good, and they had some nice small plates for vegetarians. Def a little posh and condescending vibes but still recommend this place!

I wouldn't go here again. We stopped in after a short hike at Shenandoah Valley. The parking lot was full and the views were nice. We got the stink eye from the moment we walked in. We are in our early 30s so maybe they thought we were younger with no money. The curly haired red head pouring the tasting gave us the smallest pours if the group and did not address us or speak in our direction the entire time. Snooty witch. Lost out big time on our business.

Love this place. The wines were the best we've had. The tasting you get to sample 8 different wines. Even though I am not a red wine drinker all the ones were fabulous. We were welcome to sit at their outdoor tables and eat our picnic, but it wasn't a weekend. I would imagine this place is extremely popular on the weekends. But well worth the stop.

We didn't even get to try the wine, but that was kind of difficult to do since we walked in and stood at the bar for five minutes (I timed it) without even being looked at by one of the four employees behind the bar. There were only two of us on a Sunday afternoon in the summer. They were mildly busy, but not so much that we wouldn't be visible. The last straw was when another couple walked in from the deck and one of the employees walked up and asked them if they had been helped yet, even though I had been standing at the bar for a few minutes by then. We walked out and went to Linden, which was a much better experience!

The wine from this winery is exceptional.I was impressed by the crispness and mild sweetness of their Riesling! Their Pinot Grigio is interestingly good.A friend of mine was taken my the red wine called Meritage.The winery is run my a family of devoted,conscientious people who have been successful in the Virginia rolling hills where others produce mediocre wines.Their wines could go head to head with anything Napa or Sonoma produce!

Came here for a wine tasting last weekend and had a great time. The tasting room is classy yet friendly and relaxed, the staff was passionate about their wines and engaged with us during the tasting. The wines were flavorful and unique, and all the pairings were excellent! After the tasting we selected a bottle of wine to enjoy on the patio (which is dog-friendly, although my furry one stayed home), which provides gorgeous views and a delightfully cooling breeze even on a warm morning. Definitely hope to come back again!

Disclaimer: I may sound like a giant snob in this review. So listen, I spent the last 10 years of my life living in San Francisco (hence the Yelp addiction) and enjoying fine wine tasting experiences in California wine country. I usually even refused to go to Napa, because it commercialized and filled with obnoxious tourists in limos from other states. So as you can imagine, I was a VA winery skeptic... until I went to Linden. All I can say is that it is a good thing my first experience in VA wine country was NOT at Fox Meadow. This place is everything you would imagine a stereotypical VA winery to be. They had cheesy tchotchkes all over the place, like they did their interior decorating at the Halloween sale at Michael's. The wine, for the most part, was uninspired particularly the white wines. I must say, the Cab Franc which was pretty good. The roads through the grape vines were paved in asphalt, which just seemed weird and the tasting room looked as if it had been built from generic plans for a McMansion. Basically, I felt this winery was thrown up quickly without much thought. That said, the view is beautiful and they stay open late on Saturdays in Oct for the sunset with musicians (which we couldn't actually hear.) Oh, and last but not least - we ordered some "Light Fare" to go with the bottle we ordered after our tasting. We ordered cheese and bread - the cheese they gave us was actually a slab of Cracker Barrel-esque plastic wrapped cheese like you buys from Safeway- served in the wrapper, on a plate with a knife on the side. I'm giving it 2 stars because it wasn't horrible, it was just pedestrian and uninspired. I'm sticking to Linden and Chester Gap.

This is my favorite winery in Virginia! Granted I've only been to about half a dozen, but Fox Meadow was off the charts in all categories. What are those categories you ask? Ambiance - The tasting house/room are very well done, and the patio is absolutely beautiful. The view of the mountains from the deck is the best from a winery that I've seen yet. Service - Very friendly and very helpful, especially in helping my family (first time wine-tasters (not first time tasting wine)) have such an enjoyable experience. Wine - great! My better half is pretty selective in her wine taste, and between us we liked almost the entire line-up at Fox Meadow. On top of that, they pair each wine with a local cheese (to try at no extra cost)! Free, delicious cheese merits at least a four star rating for any place, I think. Price - in line with or slightly cheaper than competitors. I've been completely against joining a case club or becoming a member of any specific winery because I've wanted to try as many as possible, but that resolution faded instantly with Fox Meadow. Gladly signed up, as I know I'll want to be back, and can't wait to see the view from the deck in the fall. Also note that only members are allowed to eat indoors; anyone can eat on the deck. Worth committing to a bottle a month from here? Maybe, maybe not, but included free tastings for two every time we go and a discount on the wine. The downside is they pick the wine you get; I justified that by thinking if we get one we don't like (hello Chardonnay) we can pass it along as a gift of Virginia wine to the next birthday/anniversary/housewarming/tailgate party. If you're doing wineries in the Front Royal area, don't miss Fox Meadow!

I like wine. I really like all kinds of wine. I prefer red over white. That said... I didn't like any of their reds. I went for the tasting with some friends... and I thought it was all just ok. Didn't leave me with the feeling like "I can't wait to come back here!"
