Foxtrot Will Reopen First Store This Week, Nearly Five Months Since Sudden Closures | Eater Chicago

"I'm framing the 23 W. Maple Street opening on Thursday, September 5 as the chain's attempted comeback after Outfox Hospitality abruptly closed 33 Foxtrot stores and filed for bankruptcy in May; the assets were bought at auction for $2.5 million by an entity led by co-founder Mike LaVitola, who says he wants to return the company to its roots by showcasing cool snacks made by local artisans and avoiding the mistakes that led to the chain's failure. LaVitola emphasizes “getting it right” at individual locations instead of rushing to scale, and he plans to lean on the coffee bar—which he calls the biggest revenue driver and a major reason Foxtrot carved out a niche—as well as continue the La Colombe partnership while adding local roasters Metric and Kyoto Black. Breakfast tacos will remain, and the menu will expand with panini sandwiches, salads, lunch bowls, and cookies. There are still open questions—vendors remain cautious after the closures, a class-action suit over the shutdowns is pending, and it’s unclear whether customers will need to create new app profiles—but LaVitola insists he’s committed to delivering an “awesome experience” with more in-store storytelling to connect customers to the people behind the products." - Ashok Selvam

Foxtrot to Reopen in Gold Coast, Old Town, Wicker Park, and Fulton Market | Eater Chicago

"At 23 W. Maple Street in the Gold Coast I was told new ownership plans to reopen this Foxtrot and will have more details later in the week. Foxtrot abruptly closed 33 locations three months ago after growing from a liquor-delivery app into an upscale bodega concept with trendy snacks, an espresso bar, and beer and wine for on-site consumption. The new Foxtrot entity is led by founder Mike LaVitola (chairman) and the Chicago assets were acquired after a $2.2 million sole bid by Further Point Enterprises at a May auction. Community response is mixed: there’s excitement about filling vacant storefronts, vendors are divided between relief and frustration over unpaid bills as bankruptcy proceeds, and former employees are still pursuing lawsuits for backpay." - Ashok Selvam

Oak Milk Vanilla Latte for the WIN! I am not a big coffee drinker so I always appreciate places that are able to turn high quality coffee into a tasty iced experience. Not too sweet, no too bitter - its always perfect. Whenever I am in Chicago this powers me through the day. Might switch to the hot one in the winter though :)

Absolutely love this place! The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The coffee is consistently delicious, and the breakfast tacos are amazing—packed with flavor and just the right size. It’s become my everyday go-to spot. Highly recommend

High quality coffee that is compatible to neighboring La Colombe (they get their beans from there). The staff is personable, kind and attentive, and the interior design of this grocery store/coffee shop provides a lovely place to spend time. Great asset to the neighborhood and Highly recommend

Super cool vibe. Close to a lot of prime locations. Their caramel latte is good. The worker who took our order is so helpful with choosing items on the menu. Wish they did a better job of keeping the restrooms clean.

I love Foxtrot and love their patio, but y'all need to sweep the patio! It is full of garbage, dirt, and just gross. Also, I miss the dips/spreads to go with the crackers lol.

Delicious coffee, tea, matcha, chai, friendly employees, delicious bites, and immaculate vibes. They also have a grocery section and proudly serve and sell local products. I'm a big fan of the matcha. Open Sun-Thurs 6 AM- 9 PM, Friday and Saturday 6 AM-10 PM.

Come here often to study, many other people also use it for the same. It's a great place but the music is played a little too loud. The coffee is good, there's a small grocery selection of quality food. You can also get alcohol here.

Foxtrot deposited a $6 promotional credit into my account on February 28. Two weeks later, I attempted to use it, only to be told by staff that their gift card system still wasn’t configured. Their solution? “Email support.” Unacceptable. If you can’t honor a promotion, don’t issue it. This lack of operational readiness paired with unresolved issues from their prior business failure reeks of the same mismanagement. Save your time and money; steer clear until they demonstrate basic competence.
