The Biggest Food Stories in DFW for 2024 | Eater Dallas

"When the neighborhood grocery-cafe chain abruptly closed all its stores, gummy lovers all over Dallas gasped collectively. The closure drew wide attention, but the chain is expected to return in 2025." - Courtney E. Smith

Foxtrot To Re-Open Two Dallas Locations in January 2025 | Eater Dallas

"This Dallas shop abruptly closed along with others across the U.S. in April 2024; Eater Chicago reported the company “seems to have run out of money after pursuing an ambitious and costly expansion” to open 50 new stores in two years, and that it faced multiple changes in leadership, merged with Chicago-based Dom’s Hospitality and ultimately filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. In May 2024 co-founders Mike LaVitola and Taylor Bloom paired with private equity and venture capital firm Further Point Enterprise to buy the company’s assets in liquidation, Eater Chicago reported; LaVitola told Eater Chicago the company planned to re-open 10 to 12 stores in Chicago and a couple in Dallas, saying those were its strongest markets. According to a release, several of the old favorites will return at the re-opening (the release cites the “popular gummies and gummy mixes”) along with fresh market offerings and items from small and local businesses. Its breakfast taco menu is being upgraded in collaboration with an unnamed “local artisan” to add three new options: borracho bean, brisket guisado, and grilled veggie tacos. The shop at 3130 Knox St. is scheduled to swing back open in January 2025." - Courtney E. Smith

The cutest coffee shop with so many fun things for sale. They had every “healthy” snack you could imagine, lots of wine, beer, seltzers, and the cutest merch. As if I wasn’t already sold when we walked in, the cherry on top was the coffee. I ordered the Pumpkin Pie Draft Latte (half sweet) and …. I was speechless. The draft latte is perfectly blended into a smooth creamy coffee, and the best part is it’s dairy free (made with oatmilk). Then it had pumpkin syrup and it was the perfect mix of sweet and coffee, while all being so velvety smooth. This location is definitely out of the way for me and with limited parking it’s not very convenient, but I WILL be inconveniencing myself in the future because the coffee was that good. Do yourself a favor and try their draft latte.

Google
Very difficult to find parking but that’s just that area of Knox in general. The store itself is really cute, it’s a cute little market when you walk in and then you can order coffee and food items. I ordered the iced Cinnamon Honey Latte, it was $7, and it was pretty good. I walked around the store, it’s nice and clean. I didn’t purchase anything else though. Seems like a cute place for a quick brunch with friends or working remotely. Overall cute! I know Dallas is happy that to have it back !

I’ve been going to foxtrot since they opened this location, was so sad when they closed, and so excited when they reopened. I come here with my dog at least 3 times a week. Unfortunately, they have just changed management. It’s become so apparent how much Heather, the previous manager, contributed to the success of this location. The first day she was gone I walked in and it felt empty and cold and I didn’t even know why until an employee told me there was new management and they had gotten rid of all the great ideas that had been Heather’s - basically all the ideas that had made it feel more warm and personal than any random coffee shop. The flowers all around, the water station that was always filled, the candle that would be lit at the end of the bar. I’ve bought 2 of their candles just because she did that. The flowers made an impact I didn’t even realize until they were gone. And the sweetest thing of all - her wall of pets that were regulars. My dog got her picture up there and it made us feel so special. After my dog had her hip replacement, during her recovery we worked our way up to making it all the way back to Foxtrot. It was a big day when she could finally do it. And in the meantime, when I went in alone, Heather always asked about her and so would other employees because Heather fostered that kind of environment. I could make coffee at home, but I spend money to go here for the experience. It’s the little details that make me choose this place over making coffee at home and especially over the multiple other coffee shops that are on the same block. I’m giving a 2 star review in the hopes that this is seen, because there’s still a chance for them to bring back the changes Heather had made. If you didn’t initially see the value, I understand but I’m telling you there was value. I’d be so happy to change this to the five star review I would’ve given any day before they changed management this week.

Service was friendly, great drinks, and within walking distance to the Katy Trail. They have a curated grocery shop inside with interesting snacks and drinks. We ordered a strawberry matcha and vanilla iced coffee. Both were great!

Google
Great place for fun and different snacks or ingredients. The vegan coffee date smoothie is life changing. Normally there's a lot of people here so I probably would not recommend coming to actually get work done on a laptop. But if you do, there are a handful of outlets in the front corner of the store that I saw.

Love the vibe & location here. This oat milk mocha latte was the best I’ve ever had. Yum.

Google
Nice alternative to chain coffee shops. Very peaceful for a morning hangout. Apparently the strawberry matcha is off the menu but they still make it and it looks so good. I had the brewed coffee being on a fast and unfortunately it was nasty . Still overall 5 star lol

Google
I am thrilled this coffee shop is back! They have the best selection of grab-and-go meals/ snacks. I'm obsessed with their ice tiramisu latte with almond milk. I love that it's dog friendly; it's nice to enjoy my coffee surrounded by adorable pups The staff provides excellent service, even when they're busy. If you have not been here yet, you're in for a treat.

Yelp
We tried the Iced Vanilla latte and the Tiramisu latte they were both delicious and well priced. The ambiance was very nice, definitely a great place to stop before or after a Katy trail walk. The ladies were very nice, and we went on the weekend of Mardi Gras, they were giving out beads.

Yelp
The tiramisu latte was fantastic! Not too sweet or syrupy. It came with cold foam (given the option of vanilla or original), I stuck with original. I also tried the Veggie Brekkie sandwich. It had good flavor but the arugula was over powering. I also added some of their green salsa to it for an extra kick. It was a busy Sunday morning but I got my order within 10 minutes.

Yelp
I'm so happy my friends took me to this cute spot! It's a healthier convenience store/coffee shop-reminds me of Erewhon. We ordered coffee early on a Sunday morning and there was fortunately no line. The employees were helpful and answered Anh questions we had. Service was decently fast and the matcha latte was REALLY REALLY GOOD!!! It was super smooth and high quality. We also ordered a cream cheese brownie and it was moist and delicious without being overly sweet. Overall, we loved this spot and will definitely be back. Love their outdoor patio too!

Yelp
I went here after walking the Katy Trail today, it's seems like it's a mini mart/coffee shop. They offer everything from sunscreen, to cereal to Gatorade. I ordered the Pesto pizza slice and the gingerbread latte and asked for iced. They were both SO GOOD. I'm not really a huge pesto person but it was recommended and I was shocked because the pizza was so fresh as if they made it right then and the tomatoes on it was the perfect touch, the cheese also melted right in your mouth. I wanted another slice thinking about it lol the Iced gingerbread latte was pretty good, I'd give it a 7/10 because it could've been slightly sweeter but wasn't bad at all. This is a great co working space or perfect for when you just need a quick pick me up after walking or shopping!

Yelp
Super cute spot! Unique snacks and great gift ideas. Place is always clean, friendly staff and excellent coffee! Dog friendly too.

Yelp
Super cute spot, terrible customer service Stood at the register for 5-minutes before the millennial appeared, who I clearly put-out by taking my order. Then waited another 15-mins for my $8 Togo Avocado toast, while she checked new customers out vs throwing 2-pieces of bread in a toaster. Why is common sense, customer service so difficult in Uptown? I was sooo excited about a new neighborhood spot too!!

Yelp
I can only review the coffee as that was the only thing I ordered. I ordered a basic mocha and overall, it was meh. The mocha wasn't sweet which was nice but the coffee didn't really impress me.

Yelp
I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy and seeking a nearby shop/cafe with gluten-free options. So I'm navigating my recent diagnosis and simultaneously looking for a gluten-free friendly cafe or restaurant near me in the Knox district. I thought Foxtrot was my best bet. But, in response to my question about what gluten-free offerings Foxtrot has, one of the employees at the register informed me this morning that Foxtrot does not offer any gluten-free options. I'm not sure if I was misinformed or if that's true. Either way, I am disappointed.

Yelp
It looks like cute place with lots of yummy treats. Unfortunately you can not get customer service and when you do they tell you they not accept cash as a payment.

Yelp
What didn't this place have! To be honest in passing I thought it was just a coffee shop but once you go in and check it out WOW is it so much more. They have everything! You of course can't do a big weekly grocery shop there but for all the last minute needs, premade quick bites, and other snacks, goodies, and booze it's a true one stop shop! The counter food was delicious as well.

Yelp
So mid. Baristas were not friendly. Ordered an iced latte and it was very warm. Ordered a donut and the barista stuck her whole fingers in my pastry bag to open it rather than use the the tongs to open the bag like every other coffee shop.

JJ P.

Yelp
Ordered lox and bagel to go. I got a view into the kitchen and sandwich maker wasn't wearing gloves and no head wear on. Her long black curly hair was hanging over her face and over the prep area. I was disgusted and threw the order in the trash.

Yelp
I love this place! It's a great place to pick up groceries, grab something to eat and they make really good breakfast tacos and lavender lattes.!

Grace D.

Yelp
Great spot! I love their matcha and outside seating. The employees are always kind. Highly recommend!

Brad S.

Yelp
If you like going someplace to feel like a complete idiot, good news! This place is for you. I walk in survey the place and menu. Stand at counter and it took 5 min for someone to acknowledge me. Finally they cashed if they could take my order and I decided to keep it simple. I ordered the slice of cheese and a draft for $10. They proceeded to take another 10 min to figure out how to ring it up. Then said they cannot honor it because it's only if You're a member. I said find me I will download app and become a member and order online. After searching through online menu the special does not exist. They kept looking at me like I had a third eye. So I walked out. What a joke.

Yelp
Leaving 5 stars because foxtrot is great and I saw some goober leave a 3 star review because they're scared of barcode scanners. Nice staff, great selection, and the best regular house coffee I've had in Dallas

Adrian B.

Yelp
The cashiers don't know how to use the barcode scanner. They tilt it directly at the customers eyes while pressing scan. I'd rather not get blinded by a red laser, so I'll prob just go to Starbucks
