"This Dallas-area shop abruptly closed along with others across the U.S. in April 2024; Eater Chicago reported the company “seems to have run out of money after pursuing an ambitious and costly expansion” to open 50 new stores in two years, and that it faced multiple changes in leadership, merged with Chicago-based Dom’s Hospitality and ultimately filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. In May 2024 co-founders Mike LaVitola and Taylor Bloom paired with private equity and venture capital firm Further Point Enterprise to buy the company’s assets in liquidation, Eater Chicago reported; LaVitola told Eater Chicago the company planned to re-open 10 to 12 stores in Chicago and a couple in Dallas, saying those were its strongest markets. According to a release, several of the old favorites will return at the re-opening (the release cites the “popular gummies and gummy mixes”) along with fresh market offerings and items from small and local businesses. Its breakfast taco menu is being upgraded in collaboration with an unnamed “local artisan” to add three new options: borracho bean, brisket guisado, and grilled veggie tacos.
