The One-Two Punch: An LA Date Night Dinner & Drinks Guide

"You know that big converted warehouse serving modern American food Downtown? No, not that one. Or that one. Or that one. OK, so a lot of restaurants are doing what Stocking Frame is doing, but Stocking Frame wins out for early-in-the-game dates. The space is casual but intimate, as in there are sports on the TVs at the bar, but also booths where you can properly hear each other. The menu is basically a list of what food is trendy right now (octopus, bone marrow), but it’s all good and very shareable." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox

On the Grid : The Stocking Frame

"While a week-long camping getaway might not be our idea of relaxation, an evening-long glamping meal is. Enter The Stocking Frame. Complete with an indoor patio and sailboat, cozy spots to sit near urban campfires, shuffleboard, a rustic menu, lovely wood dining tables, and a full bar. The restaurant has more luxuries than a campground, and bathrooms. And it's not a far hike for us either." - TypeEd

The Downtown LA After-Work Drinks Guide

"The Stocking Frame is one of those secret downtown restaurants you walk into for the first time, assume it’s brand new, and then find out it’s actually been open for years. The large, picnic table-filled space is ideal for big groups who don’t necessarily want to commit to being at the same table together. Also their weekday Happy Hour from 2-6pm gets you $3 sparkling wine, $5 pints and sangria, and tons of food specials." - brant cox

Food: 5 star! Tasty dishes~ especially the Bone Marrow, so delicious! But, very disappointed with their cocktail. We ordered One Piece and another with Gin. Compare to its price, the cocktail is too light and bland. One piece is only half glass of light sangria including 3 huge ice cubes. If you want to order any alcohol there, stop!! You may have one more dish of appetizer which is more worth.

This was a tricky place. The photos online looked great but the menu changes so often the posted food photos more then likely are not what they are serving unless it's the standard burger, pizza and apps. The nachos looked good online but really I've had just as good at Dodger stadium try something else. The burger was good, standard but for the price tag I was hoping for more. The service was ok, very LA approach but ok. Inside looks nice and looks good for groups.

Kind of a rustic meets modern feel. Menu is not very big but everything on the menu is good and flavorful. I've had the pizza, burger, steaks, and apps and they are all good. Writing this review with a nice buzz as I ordered 2 cocktails, and they were healthy pours, so I'm still feeling good. A good place to eat and drink.

It was a great place with great food! Clean and comfortable environment. The service was amazing! She was kind nice and even recommended something delicious on the menu, sadly enough I didn't take a picture to show how bomb it was. The server had patience with me and did not rush me at all! And I even watched a champions league game without a worry in the world. The restroom was very clean and smelled fresh. There was paper and soap. I loved it because I was waiting for my girlfriend to finish with her jury duty and just need a place to chill for! The server wasn't hassling me to keep ordering or to leave which was very nice. I would definitely comeback and even recommend this to a friend!

😃great place !!! This place has a great selection of inventive and delicious salads, appetizers, and main courses. While there aren’t many “healthy” choices, there are enough that almost anyone can find something here. I wasn’t that impressed with their signature cocktails, as they were mostly ice with very little content. They have a full bar, so you can order your own favorite. The atmosphere is clean and fun, and the employees seem happy and friendly.🤗😃😃😊

Disappointing. This place used to have great food and an overall classier ambiance but seems like quality has gone downhill. Only thing they seemed to maintain are their prices. It’s essentially expensive mediocre bar food. Nachos were big but pretty boring, chicken strips were bland and we didn’t have more then a bite of. Pastrami tacos were actually really tasty, but they were just plopped next to a mountain of fries. Not much presentation. Super Tuscan wine we had was very good, service was good. Overall, if you’ve never been here before just expect middle of the road bar food, if you’re comparing to the standards they used to have, it’s a disappointment.

Walked in at the end of the night after they had closed and one of the guys took us in and let us order a few slices to go. Was super friendly and patient with us, and it was so nice to have after a nearby spot was rude to us. Thanks mysterious guy who stayed open so we could get some slices before our show. Solid pizza and cute space!

Hands down best pizza in town! Margarita pizza is my favorite followed by any of the white pizzas. The cocktails are made fresh to order with real fruit and pulp (def try the paloma, it’s delicious). The apps are great too. The Buffalo cauliflower wings are the best I’ve had anywhere. As if the food wasn’t a good enough reason, the atmosphere is chill and the staff make you feel like family.
