Franconia stands out among the DFW breweries because it is a German style brewery. It's great if you want to try something new. Their Radler Peach and Dunkel beer options were very good. This brewery slso doesn't get as much foot traffic as other breweries, so it's great if you want to ease back into the brewery scene.

Went a few times when it was owned by previous German owners. Went again this year when new owner held an Easter egg hunt free event. It was disastrous. They obviously underestimated the crowd. Not only it was worrisome to watch those kids and concerned parents bumping into each other fighting for eggs, it's also sad to see kids crying out loud with no eggs found. The event though drew a lot of beer business, kids couldn't/wouldn't have come without adults right? Smart! Anyways, we had beers as usual, good selections just not cold enough. We did drink more after the dramatic experience.

Went there for their 14th anniversary celebration. Fun place to visit and tour the brewery. Several beers on tap and a few in cans. I recommend you try their beers wherever you find them and come on out to visit their taproom

Finally made my way to Franconia and well worth wait — started with a flight and got a couple of pints after… great service, friendly owner and awesome selection of beers… looking forward when they open a taproom in downtown McKinney. 5 stars in my book

Was in the area on a Sunday and looked for local breweries. Found this place, but was sad to see it only is open 2 days a week, and not on Sunday. Google and their website do not agree on what days they are open, so apparently the owners don’t check in often. No wonder the latest review was months ago. I always prefer the smaller local breweries, too bad this one doesn’t really care about having business. Also, after reading another review, I’d probably not be too keen on having my beer served in a plastic cup.

Classic American beer. Bitterness, sour... absolutely not European style. Only what similar is Baltic Porter, but you need love this flavor

Google
Great place. Had my husband's 40th birthday there this last weekend. Matt was a great host. Thanks Franconia!!!

Google
This is hands down the best beer and best tour and mckinney. I've done it like 5 times so far and for those of you thinking Tupps is the only place to go in mckinney, you're definitely missing out!

Yelp
Quaint and great beer - no nonsense picnic tables inside and primarily German style beers. Nicely priced, parking on street and not far.

Paul G.

Yelp
Love their beers. Went to their location to purchase some but no one there even though their web site said they were open. Called their number but no one answered. Left voice mail but no one ever responded. Sent a message and same result -no response.

Mario Z.

Yelp
Good beer and great people, fun place to hang out for a couple of beers. Watched some football and had great conversations.

Yelp
We came here this past Saturday since it was a gorgeous day. The last time we came was like 8 years ago. Our first time it was packed (it was also during winter). I think it was the same $10 entrance but all you could drink. I also think they would give you the glass for the $10. This past Saturday was pretty empty. I was surprised there were not a lot of people that Saturday. Well- I think it might be that now $10 gets you only 3 beers on a disposable cup. If you want the glass it's an extra $5. After the short tour you can stay and hang out there. They have some tables and stools inside and outside. However they don't have any food or food trucks, music or lots of games. Basically it's pretty boring. At least you can bring your own food. We picked up pizza from Jim's and ate it there. I've been to to other breweries in the area and some have cool music, lots of games and food trucks which is so convenient when you start drinking at 11 am lol! Needless to say I was not impressed at all this time around. If we want to have some of their beer we can always get it at the grocery store and save up some $.

Yelp
Some of the best craft beer you can get from a local brewery. Visit the brewery and check out the tap room.

Yelp
Super cute brewery. We discovered them on Groupon and joined the Saturday AM tour which came with 3 pints of beer for each participant. I think the tour was only $10/person so it was truly a steal! The tour was mostly an introduction of the brewery with a bit of a beer history lesson. The facility isn't large so there wasn't a ton to tour but we loved the staff and how knowledgeable and friendly they were. My boyfriend and I tried 6/8 of their beers between the two of us and loved everything - all the beers were smooth, flavorful, and interesting. Since this was Saturday before Christmas they told us Santa was coming later and they offered chili and beer pairing. I got the $8 cookie flight from s visiting vendor and would've bought the $5 flight to go with it if I hadn't drank so much already. Unreal prices for quality beer and amazing staff!

Yelp
It's been a while since we've hit Franconia and after our visit yesterday, but it won't be long before we're back. a great variety of offerings with the Octoberfest being my favorite. it is clearly the best fest beer I've had this year and I've had a few. spent some time with one of the investors who is very passionate about growing their brand. Their wheat is still on of my favorites as well as the dunkel. Can't wait for the taproom they are planning. Keep brewing great beer Franconia! Prost!

Paige O.

Yelp
We just spent the evening here enjoying the pre event for their Octoberfest event! Everyone who worked their was so nice, welcoming, and informative. They have a nice taproom area to sit and enjoy a good beer!

Yelp
Craving a beer and beer lesson at 11am on a Saturday? Then go to the Franconia Brewery. We arrived at almost 11 on the dot and there were about 30 people waiting outside to do the tour. At 11, out walks Dennis. He gave us a few rules before we began the tour. You pay $5 (bring cash) and can also opt to buy a take home glass for $5, which I did. After everyone pays and gets their first beer, the tour starts. It lasted about an hour. You learn all about his German style brewery process, and I'm simply amazed that he only uses 4 ingredients to make beer. We did a bit of the tour outside, which was nice because it was a little warm in the brewery, but the doors were open so we'd get a little breeze every now and then. We ended the tour in the cooler, which was pretty refreshing. Dennis debunked some beer myths that make me never want to drink an American beer again. Kidding. Sort of... : ) After the tour is over you are free to drink as much beer as you want. Hooray beer.

Luis R.

Yelp
Let me frank about Franconia. Don't waste your time and money for the tour. The last time I was here was over five years ago and back then it was a quality tour. Came to find out that Franconia was purchased from the original German owners when I showed up today. First of all, the tour was cheesy. Secondly, the two people working today knew less about beer than my wife and I combined. Place was dirty too! Don't expect me to come back!

Shannah H.

Yelp
We toured Franconia Brewery and felt it was one of the best brewery tours we've been on, second only to Guinness at the point for us. Yes, there are crowds, but the brewmaster Dennis knows how to control his audience and keep everyone's attention. He's German and his family's been in the brewing business since 1800. Yes, 1800. He opened his own place in 2008 after relocating to DFW from Germany in 2003. How lucky are we to have 1) someone who actually has a master's degree in beer and food science and 2) someone who is willing to explain in human terms what's happening in the beer making process and how his approach to beer making is different? Different, by the way, equal traditional German beer-making, using only 4 ingredients. Tours are offered every Saturday at 11. They will check your ID, though plenty of people brought their kids for a fun family day of learning about the beer making process. $5 gets you a tour and beer in a plastic cup. You can add another $5 when you enter and get a pilsner glass to use that day and take home. After everyone's enjoyed a starter glass of beer, you move to the tour. The tour lasts about 30 minutes.I won't spoil the experience by sharing what all you learn, but it's fascinating. Even if you don't like beer, I think you'll like learning how it's made and some of the myths that surround the marketing of beers in the U.S. The brewery isn't large, but you do move from area to area and listen in each section. The information is presented in an interactive method and, like I said earlier, Dennis knows how to keep your attention. You'll finish in the cooler, so if you are cold natured you may want to bring a jacket to slip on. The floors can also be wet in certain areas, so wear appropriate shoes. You can't always predict that you'll avoid puddles with the tour crowd. After the tour, you can enjoy another beer - or 2 or 3 or... - and enjoy meeting your fellow brewery visitors. Two pints each were more than enough for us! All in all, it was a great experience. We were there for right around 2 hours, including pre and post drinks.

Julie M.

Yelp
Seriously the nicest people with the best beer! Make sure you try this hidden gem for amazing German style beer!

Hogan G.

Yelp
Finally getting to take the tour of Franconia cemented the appreciation I have for everything they're doing. Besides great beer, they provide a great experience, and are truly mastering the craft. Dennis, the head brewer, is awesome to listen to and truly cares about what he's doing and creating. Franconia is the real deal, if you check out one brewery in the DFW area, please come here. It's an experience in itself (especially if you're a bit of a beer "nerd".)

Chris K.

Yelp
They need dark beer. Didn't really like anything I tasted. Lots of flys inside. Staff was friendly though and if you like that style of beer you should try it.

Los D.

Yelp
Drive all the way here because website said they were open. They are only offering take out.

Emma B.

Yelp
I struggled debating on this one between 3 and 4 stars. But yes, it's $5 unlimited beer, $10 keep the glass. But there is no entertainment, no food, no AC. He said it was a smaller crowd last week, I'm glad as the tour would have been unbearable with more people in the room. I like their beer though, Kolsh and Amber - are good easy drinking beers. The freezer part of the tour, was a welcomed breezed.

Yelp
Looking for something cool to do on a Saturday afternoon? Then trek it up to McKinney to Franconia Brewing and take their tour! The morning after Yelp's Secret Carnevale, I pulled up to Franconia to drop off the empty keg shells. Hehehe, you yelpers sure can drink! I saw a gathering of people outside. Dennis told me they were there for the 11am tour, and he invited me to stay and watch. Although I was dressed in sweats with no makeup, I obliged and hung back to watch him guide us through his facility. I noticed that everything here is clean, in well-kept shape and Dennis really cares about the environment. It was neat to hear how he landed in Dallas, what it took to get the brewery going and how they do things differently. For a mere five bucks, it's a great way to spend a few hours and learn about a great local business. PS - He told us that Franconia will be in bottles soon! Although they will be liters, you'll soon be able to buy the product for your home. Sweet!

Luke H.

Yelp
A place that is packed in McKinney with hipsters at 10:45am???? It has to be five stars even if the product couldn't keep up...but wait this beer is amazing. We tasted a flight of it at the Holy Grail pub, and decided to go to the Brewery the following week. This beer is exceptional. DFW is very lucky to have Franconia call it home. Plus, this guy is legit. He isn't like the self-proclaimed Coonass Cajun chefs that pop up in tourist towns; this guy is a true German brewer.

Shiloh K.

Yelp
A microbrewery? In McKinney, Texas? Whaaat? I finally got my butt down to the infamous 11:00am tour the Saturday before Christmas '12 and brought all my in-laws and out-laws to share in the festivities. I'm all about brewery tours where you get to sample beer and learn about the process of beer making. What makes Franconia even more special is the owner's (Dennis Wehrmann) two fold mission to produce great tasting beer, using only 4 ingredients AND have a low-impact on the environment. Dennis has taken great measures to ensure the brewery runs as "green" as possible by recycling 100% of their mash into cattle feed, having a state of the art energy efficient building (minimizing their need for most traditional electricity), as well as being in the process of building their own green power plant. Did I mention their beer is delicious? Well, it is. The fact that you only can get the beer at the brewer tour, or a local pub or restaurant makes you want to savor every last sip of this craft brew. For only $5 you can take the tour, and sip on a beer of your choice while listening to the very hilarious owner spill the beans (or barley?) about his family's history of brew making, since the 1800s. After the tour is over (about an hour), it's pretty much open bar until they close up shop an hour or two later. Try one...try two...try them all! When we were there, I think there were 4 different beers to choose from. I enjoyed the Winter Wheat and Kolsch. Who wants to babysit, so I can go back next weekend? Heh. Heh. TIPS: $5 gets you entrance to the tour and a plastic cup for tasting (they do full pours)...OR you can bring your own "vessel" for tasting the beer (I witnessed some people drinking from mugs practically larger than my torso). Lastly, you can pay an extra $5 for a sweet looking Bavarian Weizen Glass, which is what I did.

Chris L.

Yelp
As i arrive in this industrial park area. You'll find this hidden gem. I arrived this memorial weekend at this brewery to find the a plethora of cars & motorcycles lined up on the side of the row parked in front of this brewery. Yes you may have to park on the street. But it's not a problem. Like the other reviewers, i'm astounded to see that many people up at 11am ready to enjoy a drink. Dennis is really good host. His passion, charisma and sense of humor really makes you enjoy this tour of the brewery. I felt like i needed to pay this guy more for his tour than it needed to be. Dennis is very accomodating. He's very cognizant of the needs of his audience. As he is up front with the lady that needed to fan herself (as it was very hot that day) that she'll get to cool off and be the first one to complain as to how cold it is in their cooler (as just a joke ha). What a value! For $5 you get to enjoy a glass of their freshly made beer. You also get a lot of education into beermaking. Dennis provides you the gory details, a narrative and an insight into brewmaking and a life of being a brewmaster. After the 45-60 minute tour, as an additional perk you get to refill your cup as much times as you need to. Just be careful there are cops that patrol by. So please drink responsibly! Bring a DD if need be! I do warn you all it does get smelly. The hot yeast from the mash may bother a few. It'll even linger with you for a couple hours. Honestly, i didn't mind. The heat can be a little uncomfortable but like i mentioned before you can cool off in their super cold freezer. After this tour i'm a converted avid fan of their beer and brewing practices. I'll make sure i support Franconia beer. All in all this is a must do if you're a dallas'ite or if you're visiting.

Divya A.

Yelp
Pretty neat place. $5 for the tour and $5 for the glass and both super worth it. We got to try a lot of beer, for a person that doesn't like beer, I enjoyed this very much. The people that work here are the best!!! Ask them all the questions you have! Definitely planning on going back again.

Jana R.

Yelp
Love coming here for the tour and the beer is great. Fun environment to sit around, drink beer and watch sports...

Peter O.

Yelp
The brewery tour costs $5, for an additional $5 you can purchase a beer glass with the Franconia label. But you can bring your own glass, or stein, or just use one of the complimentary plastic throwaway glasses provided. So why all of this talk about glasses? Because this tour is all about their beers! And those beers that are on tap are free, from the moment you're inside the roll up door, and until you're back outside , and we're not talking little samples, it's fill the glass/ stein, up to the brim, and yes, the beers are delicious, authentic German Beer!! Oh yes, the tour is informative, especially, if you're not familiar with brewing beer, or the German style of brewing beer. The owner , is a German from Nuremberg, who literally grew up on the brewery floor, as he comes from a brewing family, and completed his formal education in Brewing at the university level in Munich, along with several jobs in the brewing field. And it shows in his beer, the taste is impeccable, as it is authentic, complying with the German Purity Beer laws that truly have set the industry's quality standards for hundreds of years. If you're at all interested in spending a couple of hours learning about brewing German beer, and not having to spend tons of money flying to Germany to do so, ( but I'd recommend doing that too), whilst drinking some of the finest beer not only in Texas, but in the USA, then do you and your friends a favor, take this very inexpensive tour one Saturday ASAP! Prost!

Wayne W.

Yelp
So we finally made it to Franconia today. There had to be 100+ people there and it was 90+ Degrees but still had a great time and enjoyed the Brewery Tour and Experience. $5 gets you in and $10 gets you a Souvenir Pint Glass to take home. Unlimited Pours as long as you are there and they had 4 different beers on Tap. I enjoyed the Dunkel and my wife the Kolsch. Only wish the Owner had been there but the Brewer did just fine in presenting everything. Overall Great Experience!!!!

Darlene L.

Yelp
Definitely worth the drive! Not a big place but I loved the passion and excellence they use in making their beers and I am not much of a beer drinker. Four of us went and liked the four beers they served. They do tastings on Saturday's at 11:00 and this fills up fast as it's only $5 for the tour and the beer...all you can drink! Note the DPS is on the next street up so drink responsibly. Loved the humor and the hospitality of the gentlemen serving and teaching us about the brewing process. You have to do this at least once!

Steve J.

Yelp
Great Tour, Great Beer especially the new seasonal Falling Bock. Dennis explains everything for the non-beer-nerd. All their beers are brewed under the Reinheitsgebot.

Laura O. D.

Yelp
Been on this tour twice-- therefore I had a couple stein glasses from the last Oktoberfest. The owner/brew-master Dennis Wehrmann is a super nice guy. I talked to him for a minute, and like him better than some of my own family. If you don't want to take the tour, you can quietly sip in the main warehouse area, as the rest of the tour goes from one section to another. There is no air condition and puddles of water on the floor,(normal at breweries)----- so dress accordingly. The Dunkel is my favorite ---it's a smooth dark lager, that is deceptively lighter than you would expect.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Franconia has utterly ruined me and I pine for their beer whenever I'm not in Texas. Why, Franconia, are you not available in Miami? Dennis, can you just come out and set up shop here? There is a massive void in Miami and we need a serious brewery that actually knows how to make beer. Instead, we have a bunch of people that pour more effort into attitude, gimmicky names/logos and treat the beer as an afterthought. I didn't realize I even liked beer until I tasted your liquid gold. Seriously, start a Kickstarter campaign for a brewery in Miami! I'll be your first backer. WE NEED YOU HERE! Top 5 reasons I'm a huge Franconia Brewing Fan: 1) ALL of their beers are delicious 2) The Saturday morning brewery tours 3) Hundreds of years of beer making knowledge applied to their craft 4) No attitude, it's all about the beer 5) Dennis is a purist and will never serve crap

Matt A.

Yelp
'Don't judge a book by its cover.' $5 gets you a tour and many pours of their traditional German beer, Prost!

Greg H.

Yelp
Best brewery tour in America I have ever been on. If there is a better tour, let me know so that I can go there. The beer is good German beer and if you are into supporting small business, this should be your go to in the supermarket.

Leigh P.

Yelp
I totally loved going to Franconia. We met about 12 people there for a birthday surprise, so thank goodness I finally had a good reason to head to McKinney! The tour begins promptly at 11 on Saturdays. You head in, and for $5 (bring cash!!) you get a beer and the tour. Once everyone gets their libation, Dennis, the German beer dude, gives you the low down on hops, lagers, ales, fermentation, brewing, etc. It was very informative and he's fairly amusing so the hour long tour goes by really fast. After the tour is over, you get to have as much beer as you want... until last call at 12:45 or so. At this time, the beer is only available in keg or mini-keg form (growlers please!!) so that kinda stinks, because it was really really good and I'd actually like one now, at 10:57 on a Monday morning. One more thing to note about Franconia brewing. It is not air conditioned. Yes, I went to this brewery during the middle of "heat wave of biblical proportions 2011" and I have never been more hot, and I do mean literally dripping in sweat, in my entire life. I will happily, gleefully go back to Franconia any time... just as long as we follow the Oyster Rule, never in months that don't have an "R" in it. Just sayin'.

Frances H.

Yelp
The Kolsch brew is the best brew! I have always had somewhat of a beer crush on Franconia as it represents everything true about the drink brewed centuries ago by those crazy monks. Not only are the brewery tours a blast with a warm, inviting, and knowledgeable staff, but the beer is dynamite - which, of course, comes at no shock. Dennis, a Bavarian native, has beer running through his veins. Somewhat of a McKinney celebrity, his brewery is a cornerstone of the craft beer craze here in North Texas.

Sheryl C.

Yelp
Okay, so I don't go outside of the 635 loop for just anything. But I did for this place. This is like a German brew house. It is very cool and unlike anything that I've seen in Dallas. The brew master used to work at TwoRows and started his own GREEN brew pub up in the sticks of McKinney. (I would have lost all kinds of money on that one!) However, they currently only have 3 brewed beers; a lager, a wheat and a dunkel. So don't expect a big selection. Word to the wise: Bring the party with you b/c you won't find it here. (Oktoberfest it is not.) If you have a big group of friends looking to do something different and you don't mind a bit of a hike this is your place. Call ahead and they will give you a tour if they can. If you live inside the loop, find a McKinney friend to crash with or bring your own DD. It is FAR!!

Roxanna L.

Yelp
I just had a feeling this was going to join Anchor Brewing Co at the top of my list...and it did not disappoint. Visited on July 4th weekend. it was a bit overcast, muggy, and the tour was -therefore- quite warm. There was quite a crowd, but not too big at all. Brew Master Dennis Wehrmann (with a real family history in German brewing) narrates the story behind creating Franconia and the tour itself. The tour is $5 (cash only I think) and with that you can taste the beers on tap. Generally, speaking that was the Lager, Wheat, and Dunkel brews...but I suspect some folks may have had more than three. If you want to take home a souvenir Franconia pint glass, that's just an extra $5. Incidentally, these beers are so pure and traditional...and very good. My favorite is the Wheat - YUM YUM YUM! I was fascinated on this tour - listening to Dennis. He is quite a funny guy (dry witted), and WOW is he knowledgeable about beer. I learned so much, and plan to go again because I couldn't absorb it all in one trip.

Alan G.

Yelp
Why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars bewilders me. GO TO THEIR BEER TOUR ON SATURDAYS!!! If you think I'm wrong, well you won't...

Chloe I.

Yelp
Franconia is a special, special place in a sea of terrible beer options in North Texas. It's not the fanciest beer (as the owner sticks to the German Purity Law) but it's classic, timeless, quality beer that leaves me satisfied every time I have it. I've gone on the tour twice (a year in between visits) and was shocked to see the number of visitors on the second tour - many times more. Word has gotten out about this place and that'a great thing. Dennis, the owner, is kind and hilarious and knows his beer. He really treasures educating people on brewing. After the first tour we went to downtown McKinney for lunch at a pub. Within minutes of sitting down we see Dennis coming up to the pub pushing a keg on a dolly. The guy is clearly dedicated to a high quality produce. My husband and I now seek out places that serve the beer. It's worth it - especially for their dunkel. It's one of my top dark beers ever.

Daniel N.

Yelp
I was unfortunately unaware of this brewery, I'm new to the area so it took a Yelp event to clue me in. I've visited several micro-brews in the Seattle and SOCAL area's, they have awesome beer and beer-loving communities. However, this is the first brewery I've been to that charges $5 for a tour and gives you all the beer you want on-tap, you can even bring your favorite oversized beer-mug from home! Incredible. I tried all 4 of their current beers, had a cultural lesson on the Franconia region of Bavaria and listened in on how Franconia Brewery makes their crafts all before noon. Here is the awkward moment when I realize I might have done better in high school geography if they had allowed me to drink the beers from each country while in class. I highly recommend grabbing some friends and taking a tour of Franconia Brewery. I love beer, but, I'm not a beer snob ... so my review of the beers are this, Dunkel: Good Oktoberfest: Good Wheat: Good Koelsch: Awesome, absolutely loved it! 5 stars because there are no negatives and a lot of positives; they have quality, tasty beers and they are generous in sharing it!

Brandie S.

Yelp
Yes. If you haven't checked out Franconia Brewing you definitely need to as soon as possible! My family toured Franconia on the 4th of July and were impressed with everything- from the tour, to the level of Dennis' knowledge, to the amazing taste of his beers! We will definitely be back! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there was a horrible stench outside of the brewery that made me nauseous, but other than that it was great! (If I haven't sold you yet- every Saturday they do $5 tours with unlimited drinking afterwards...- did that do the trick?)

Jessica J.

Yelp
If you are a true craft beer lover, this is a great way to spend 2 hours of your Saturday morning. The owner is a 5th generation brewer from Germany, graduated with a degree in brewer science and is a true Belgian brewing purist. We arrived around 10:30AM and by 11AM when the tour started, the line was wrapped around the block. No worries though - everyone got in the door rather quickly. Once we had paid our $5, we walked straight to the bar and started tasting. The tour started once everyone had their first beer and lasted about 30 minutes. They poured full beers and kept pouring for long enough that each of us were able to finish off about 3 beers before they shut it down. They poured 6 different beers during the tasting, all of which were simple but excellent. A few tips: Tastings cost $5 cash and for another $5, you can get a branded beer glass. Otherwise, you drink out of a plastic cup. One tasting fee gets you unlimited pours until they shut it down around 1:30pm. This place is SMALL and does not have any seating, so plan to just start around, visit and browse through the brewery equipment while you drink. Some will bring lawn chairs to sit in out front while polishing off their beers. The owner gives a very interesting tour and is happy to answer questions one-on-one after the tour. You won`t find any fancy flavored beers or IPAs, but they do churn out tasty wheat, dunkel and amber ales that any Belgian fan will enjoy.

Chiqui B.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday after sampling Franconia at The Abbey Inn in Denton. This is my new favorite Tx Craft Brewery. I love the amber, but the lager and the wheat are also amazing. They gotta get more down here to Austin! WTF moment: Minus one star for no free wifi. McKinney is most definitely NOT Austin.

Yelp
what a fantastic brewery. Old-school German-style beers from a master-brewer from....[drumroll].....Franconia! You actually LEARN stuff on the tour all while tasting some of the most delicious, fresh beer in the 'plex

Yelp
So up until a year or so ago I hated beer. As far as I was concerned it smelled nasty, tasted nasty, and if baffled me how people could drink enough of the stuff to get even close to inebriated. Gross, right? Well. Somehow I ended up on a brewery tour at Franconia last March (not sure how I was talked into that). And like any brewery tour, there are beer samples. And I will tell you one thing - the moment the first drop of Franconia lager hit my tongue, I was hooked. This is real beer. REAL BEER. And more than that - this is a company that is committed to quality, integrity, and sustainability like none other out there. First of all, let me cover Franconia as a brewery and a company. Their product is stellar, and their processing is amazing. I won't spoil everything (because the weekly tour is a MUST), but I've never seen a company so inspiring in their commitment to the environment, maintaining the quality of their product, and continuing to innovate not only their profession but their ethics. Anyone would be inspired by what these people do. Now Franconia as a touring experience: It's great, but definitely not what the first-timer would expect. I remember approaching the building on that first tour and being kind of disappointed in the size of the place. How were we going to take a real tour when the whole building is only three rooms? Trust me, though, what this brewery lacks in size, it makes up for in intelligence, information, and ambiance. For a meager $5 cash, you get an informative and entertaining tour that is quite educational on a number of topics, from the science and art of brewing beer to the biggest misconceptions that Americans have of Germans. And aside from the tour proper, there's plenty of time to drink and sample brews while being social with friends, other tour-takers, and the head brew master himself. And to top it all off: Franconia's beer is AMAZING. I'm absolutely in love with their Lager (that first drop literally opened up a whole world of beer to me), and their Champagne Ale is a unique but delicious drink that everyone must try. Their Kolsh is light and refreshing - perfect for a hot summer day - and if you love stouts, you'll love their Dunkel. Franconia has a solid line of year-round classics, and a whole arsenal of lovable seasonal brews that will have you waiting all year long for a taste. This brewery is everything a company should be, regardless of what they make and sell. On top of the fabulously delicious craft beers, their business model is innovative and admirable, and this country needs more businesses like this one.

Yelp
Dennis Wehrmann loves beer and it shows at his brewery, Franconia and in the beer that comes out of this place. Enjoy the hour or so tour and learn a little bit about the process of making beer. From the 4 simple ingredients, it is hard to imagine how such complex flavors are created. Once the tour concludes, it's like the happiest hour on earth - try the 3 beers on tap as much as you want until last call (usually 1:30pm or so). It's hard not to love Dennis and his product - Franconia is now the first beer I ask for at any DFW restaurant or bar. The wheat is amazing, really, only 4 ingredients in there? No idea how he can do that. If you enjoy beer at all, do yourself a favor and visit this brewery. If Dennis doesn't sell you on the product, the booze definitely will.

Yelp
Brewery committed to providing the freshest brew possible to the DFW area. Tours are every Saturday at 11 a.m. for $5. You get a guided tour of the brewery from Dennis, the owner. His German accent adds to the whole experience for some reason. He goes through the history behind Franconia and goes into detail about the whole beer brewing process. I learned a lot from the tour. It was almost like a science lesson (but better). My friends that have been on other tours agreed that this was by far the most informative. Of course, the BEST part of the tour is the beer sampling. You walk into the front the of the brewery, pay your $5, and get a pint glass of beer before the tour even officially starts. When your done with that glass, you walk back up and get refills anytime during and after the tour! On the day I went, the Dunkel, wheat, and lager were on tap. I am very impressed by everything they are doing at Franconia. They deliver and check the taps at their vendors themselves. They run an environment friendly establishment. I'll be looking for Franconia of the draught list on anywhere I go now.

Yelp
What I enjoy about this brewery is that it feels like a family atmosphere and a True Local Brewery. Dennis (Brewmaster) is VERY passionate about his brews and for the most part, gives the tours himself. The tour consists of a very educational walk around the brewery and of coarse, "Beer". He usually has his Dunkel, Wheat and lager on tap and you get to enjoy each one. Also he will have the occasional "Seasonal" brew on tap. EVERY one also gets a chance to chat up with Dennis as well.

Yelp
Fun way to spend a Saturday morning. This way when my girl looks at me cross eyed cause I'm drinking beer at 11 AM, I can shoot back "Hey, I'm not drinking cause I want to drink, this is a BREWERY TOUR! Get with it, girl!!" It's a fairly interesting tour but let's be honest, it's hard to hear half of what they say and the cooler is too cold to hang in for very long. I usually just mosey on over to the tap. Just fill the glass dude, just fill the glass......

Yelp
Really nice establishment and brewmasters. Given that the owner is German (born and raised), Franconia beer adheres to the German beer laws. You will have wonderful beer here, however, do not expect any craft beer with unique spices, chocolate, coffee, or fruit in it. They had 4 beers available: 1) Wheat (Hefewiesen), 2) Dunkel (dark), 3) Kolsch (light), 4) Octoberfest (seasonal). All were tasty with my favorite being the Dunkel. The tour is very educational particularly about beer and brewing but also about the origins of the brewery and the family history behind Franconia. Attending the tour was a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Saturday. When you go, be sure your ready to taste beer, you will get plenty if you want it.

Yelp
Came here recently on Saturday for a brewery tour, and was told upon arriving that entry is $5 (cheaper than most other brewery tours) and that the guy that usually gives the tour isn't here so we could just go on in and have a drink. I was a bit disappointed, but they were gracious enough to still allow people to see their facility and hang out and drink free beer.... which apparently has no limit? They pretty much just won me over on sheer customer service forever. Tasty stout and dunkel and oktoberfest beers too! I spoke to some of the employees and read the walls, learning that this beer has German roots, which I feel like I could sort of tell (I'm honestly no expert, but it tasted very much like like the ones I had in Munich). Definitely coming back for the full experience!
