The Best Late-Night Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Frank From Philly & Andrea, a favorite among local college students is a great option for dining on a budget. The popular Philly cheesesteaks all land around $13. The New York-style pizza menu spans the classics (margherita with meat; pepperoni and sausage drizzled with chile oil) to quirky specialties (chicken tenders with honey mustard; sweet onion over white sauce). The best part? Frank & Andrea’s stays open until 3 a.m. on the weekend; 2:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, and midnight on Sunday. Online ordering for takeout and delivery is available." - Eli Radtke

Google
Great place, great customer service, and even greater food! We had two 18” pizzas and it was much more filling than the norm. Pizzas looked amazing and it was even good on the reheat.

Anthony Lee

Google
I’ve ordered twice from this place and they some how forget to add cheese on their Philly cheese steaks lol. Food is okay but damn their quality control sucks.

Maeve Do Duong

Google
The quality of their pizzas went up! I love this place for a late night grab.

Chelsea Ready

Google
Pizza was delicious! Called in an order tonight, after a hockey game, large 1/2 + 1/2 (the best option for ordering, in our opinion)! We ordered a large 1/2 House Special paired with 1/2 Margherita! Staff were very kind and quick to get me in and out!

Google
Pretty good pizza. NY style pizza by the slice. Open late till like 3am, that's a plus. They also have a lot of Phillie cheese steaks. The attendant was really nice. Recommended their garlic aioli, which was really tasty. I got the 2 slice special. If your in the area, you should grab a slice.

Loren Monroe

Google
I got one of the best pieces of pizza and an amount of fries that would give Val's a run for their money and a pop for $11?!?!?...10/10

Brooke Krebs

Google
The pizza was good. The French fries were absolutely amazing though! Can't believe it's open til 3:00am. Definitely servicing a college town. Definitely recommend a stop in.

Samantha Ross

Google
Got the two slices and a free soda deal and it was great! You pick your slices from the wide selection available (ask if you don't know what's what). It was hard to choose as they all looked good. I got a regular pepperoni and then some sort of chicken with the garlic aioli (highly recommend this one!!). The slices are HUGE! The crust is crisp on the bottom and fluffy on the edge. SO GOOD! I didn't try their sandwiches but they also looked/sounded good. Definitely will be back to try more.

Yelp
The pizza from here is delicious . High quality ingredients and taste like pizza from the east coast . Check them out !

Yelp
I live fairly close to the U of M campus, and yesterday my daily walk took me right through the heart of it. I decided to stop in Frank & Andrea's because I've heard many good things about it from friends who have gone to the U. I got a slice of mac 'n' cheese pizza to go, the service was efficient and it came out quickly. The store is open until 3 AM, so it feels safe to assume that a lot of their clientele are drunk college students. Honestly, the pizza tasted like something that I would have really loved as an inebriated 21 year old, but as a sober person, it didn't exactly hit the spot. It was dry and didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The slice WAS $5.55, so I can't say I was too disappointed. I may return at some point-- but probably not before 1 AM.

Yelp
Needed pizza so I stopped at Frank and Andrea's in Dinkytown for two slices of pepperoni pizza and a soda for $9.79. They have several other options for slices but I'm a pep guy. Nice deal for the two slices and a soda. Thought about adding one of their sandwiches like a Philly cheesesteak for later. Open late night which is why I like to go there.

Brett A.

Yelp
amazing tender chicken philly with soft and delicious bread! Was extremely surprised and satisfied

Bella G.

Yelp
Guy charged me $8.50 a slice instead of $5.75 didn't give me a refund when i went up and said I only got 2 slices

joey s.

Yelp
Had pretty low expectations coming it but was pleasantly surprised. It's just pizza, but it's good. Tasty ranch and really nice crust

Colin__ B.

Yelp
They made my pizza cold. 5/6 employees were obviously on drugs, and they shut down their bathroom DURING operating hours. Unless you're too drunk to see there's no reason to go here. Pizza new definition of average. Nothing about this place is redeeming. Even giving them 1 star is too generous.

Tom F.

Yelp
Trevor, you need to address why every other weekend, when college students are trying to grab a quick bite after going out to the bars, need to be harassed and assaulted inside the pizza place by outsiders who are looking for nothing but trouble Please upgrade the security. Food is good by the way it's just that sometimes we feel unsafe
google avatar

Yelp
When I first saw this pizza, I was a little hesitant with how it would taste. After I tried both of the pizzas, I realized that the pizzas and how they compliment each other were great. I definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
We stopped in here when dropping my son at the U. My family is a little picky about their pizza, so I was curious to see how they liked it. I didn't see any gluten free options on the menu (although other reviews, mention it, I didn't see it on the board), so I got a Greek Salad. We walked here from campus and it wasn't too busy when we entered. There were a few people waiting for carryout orders, but not many sitting at the tables. We ordered and our food was ready pretty quickly. Everyone was happy with their choice. My salad was chocked full of all the ingredients, not just a bowl of lettuce. The pepperoni pizza had lots of pepperoni and was really flavorful according to hubby and my son. All in all it was a great visit!

Manifest G.

Yelp
Super disappointed in the pizza my son and I got tonight, the crust was burned, which made the pizza really tough! I'm not sure what's going on but, our last three pizzas have been quite subpar for Andrea Pizza!! PLUS, the price changes at random when ordering and today, my pizza was $30. It sucks to have your fave pizza be so burnt it scrapes the roof of your mouth AND have to pay $5 more than usual. *insert sad face*

Yelp
I'm new in town just moved here from Philly... This place lies... Not a TV. No Eagles game wasted my time..

Yelp
Stopped here after a late night concert and I have to say my expectations were blown out of the water. I heard this was a late night college spot so I figured the food would be to that standard. I was happily proven wrong. When you walk in there's a handful of premade pizzas you can order slices from. They heat the slices in their oven giving it a super crispy bottom and crust and they have a variety of specialty toppings. I tried a honey mustard chicken style piece of pizza and it was incredible. I also got a Supreme Cheesesteak with cheese whiz and no green peppers, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the veggies were crunchy but cooked perfectly. The jalapeños gave a really nice heat with a fresh jalapeño flavor. Highly recommend for a late night bite or if you can't decide what kind of pizza to snack on. I do have to say there's not much parking nearby, lots of college students and bar-goers stopping in. There's security posted inside the building which is nice since it's close to a lot of college bars and campus.

John S.

Yelp
As close as you can get to a NYC pizza honestly in the twin cities. It's thin and holds a nice crust. This is my preferred spot for take out home.

Yelp
Best pizza ever!!! BBQ Chicken Pizza Buffalo Chicken and Cheesesteak Supreme are among my favorite few!! Love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Dinner stop this weekend @_frankandandrea ! Known for their delicious Pizza & Cheesesteaks, the flavors are amazing. The mother of the owners is from Philly so they brought the great taste of Philly Cheesesteaks to Minnesota! * CHEESESTEAK SUPREME- Steak, grilled onion, green pepper, mushroom, jalapeño, and cheese whiz.
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
The pizza is spectacular! I always order their Pocket Points deal which is now- $7.29 for 2 New York Style slices. I order one unique carb loaded splurge slice (Macaroni or Buffalo Chicken Tender) and one more traditional mozzarella and vinaigrette slice. I use to live blocks away and would frequent on late weekend nights after going out with friends. The location is prime for those in the Dinkytown and University area, but I still drive there after moving away because you can't beat the slices. All topics come with a large amount of topics and tasty cheese- while I find other pizza by the slice places typically lack those two components! Definitely ask for a free container of Garlic aioli, it adds an extra savory kick to an already amazing slice!
google avatar

Yelp
Take out/delivery: Philly : too much jalapeño Fries were so little especially considering it's an extra $3 charge. Driver was rushing us. No notification, you just have to wait downstairs. Don't recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Salt overload and not worth the money. I was article baited into driving here from a distance and I'm still irked by it!

Yelp
So as a chef I have posted about this place before and got over 30,000 views which I thank everyone that saw the review. This place is hands down so good. And I'm proud to say I work here now. Great food . Great people and the best and affordable prices!

Yelp
Cheeeeeesesteaaaaak! yum. All you need is good fresh bread, grilled meat and onions and cheese. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesteaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak! I loved it if you can't tell. It was as good as any in Philly. And the fries although delivered were hot and nicely seasoned. All washed down with a coke. Yum...did I say that already?

Simon W.

Yelp
Look, I don't know if it was an off day but this was the worst cheesesteak I've ever had. I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak in and the bread was SOAKED in grease and the meat was dry and flavorless. It made me borderline nauseous.
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
My girlfriend bought me a Philly cheese steak supreme from this place because I was working all night at the hospital. When the food came it looked nothing like what she described on the photo. The steak was very salty and the portion didn't even fill up the hoagie bread. I pushed the meat to one side of the bread just so it could looked fulfilling and to my surprise it was salty with no condiments. The lemonade was great though. I would not recommend at all.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Ordered delivery after a late twins game. We got the barbecue chicken pizza and it was so good! Thinner crust and not a lot of cheese so it was right up my alley. I love when a pizza is foldable and isn't covered in grease! Yum!

Yelp
This is definitely a college restaurant. Minneapolis currently has a mask mandate, and you are supposed to show your vaccine card, or have a negative COVID test within 72 hours to dine in places. This place not only didn't ask to see vaccination proof or Negative COVID test results, but some of the employees weren't wearing masks. I went here on a date last night, after the 1st place we wanted to go did ask for our vaccination cards, and both of us didn't have them with us. Oh well, mistakes happen. We walked for less than 5 minutes and found this place. You can either get pizza or cheesesteaks. I did see they had a few veggie options, which was nice to see. I ordered the pizza, it's by a slice, or two slices you get a 'free fountain beverage' I think if given the option, next time I may only come here if I'm drunk and in need of food. It wasn't that the food was bad, it just wasn't good. The pizza is sitting out and they 'warm it up in the pizza oven for you after you pick which slice you want. So it's not fresh, or even close to fresh. After that once briefly heated, it's given to you on plastic plates, and even after a few minutes it's back to it's original state, which was just left out pizza, waiting for someone to reheat it.

Yelp
Owned by Andrea Bocelli and Andrea Lloyd Weber, so a very musical pizza shop, then. This is a combination pizza place and Philly place for Cheesesteak sandwiches and other subs. We didn't think it was great and that goes for both the pizza slice and the sandwich - but I don't think Philly Sandwiches are really very good and I think that in Philly the roast pork is the winner and actual cheesesteak is just doomed to fail, as it doesn't really taste of anything except salt... but if that's what you like, this will do you fine and the pizza's not bad, it's just not great. Have yet to find a life-changing slice in MN. The service was so friendly though, that I bumped it up from 3 to 4.

Yelp
Update during COVID-19: My pregnant carb-craving butt could not be more grateful that the best NY-style pizza and most authentic Philly cheesesteaks have been available during the MN #StayAtHome order. There are a few ways to get your Frank or Andrea fix, depending on what you feel comfortable with: Order delivery, takeout, or walk-in quick for takeout. I've done all of the above (well, I had my partner grab takeout with a mask and sanitizer when it wasn't busy). They really do have THE best NY style pizza, and so you cannot beat just a big piece of cheese 'za with crust that's so thin and crispy under the toppings but chewy on the edges. I also am a sucker for their novelty slices like Garlic Fry and chicken fingers + honey mustard. I also like to build my own 12": meatballs, fresh basil, ricotta and peppadews. I've had cheesesteaks in Philly several times, and Frank nails it. They even import a lot of their ingredients straight from Philly, like their hoagie rolls, which is SO important. Gotta get lots of whiz on there too!
google avatar

Yelp
Right next to the uni. College spot. Probably for drunk kids. Philly cheesesteak is very subpar. Meat is bland and not thinly sliced enough and sloppily made by a bunch of college kids. I've had better cheese steaks at chains. Hard to find parking and it's just paid street parking.
google avatar

Kamrin D.

Yelp
Whether you want pizza or cheesesteaks, meat or veggies, Frank and Andrea has it covered. Absolutely delicious pizza, sandwiches, and sides. I loved every single bite of everything. The pizza was full of flavor and had the perfect amount of toppings and cheese. I had the sweet onion pizza and the caramelized onions were sooo good. I also had the vegetarian cheesesteak sandwich. The bun was so soft and fresh and the veggies were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I wouldn't definitely get this again. They have a good variety of meat and veggie pizzas and I love that they even have veggie options for sandwiches. Fries on the side were also good. I will definitely order again to get my pizza fix.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
I have really high expectations when it comes to Philly cheese steaks being that I am from the East Coast. That said, I thought the supreme cheese steak was good but nothing that would make me rave about. The meat was tasty; however, I felt like the peppers and onions could have been sautéed a bit longer. My former teacher/tutor was with me (She moved out here from the East Coast as well) and thought the same.

Yelp
We visited Frank From Philly & Andrea Pizza for the first time during "Order the Yelp". We got the famous "Taco-Bout the Yelp Pizza." Covered in a bed of bean sauce, cheddar AND mozzarella cheese, chipotle bean sauce, lettuce, ground beef, and sour cream, it's any Tex-Mex food lover's paradise. I personally was STOKED for the 8 soft shell ribeye tacos piled on top of the pizza...this is something I had NEVER heard of being a pizza topping. Anyone who knows me, knows I could love off of tacos, so I was in for a treat. When we ordered the pizza, the first question we were asked was, "Are more people coming to help you?" & to that, I confidently answered "Nope." I knew it was going to be a big bad boy, but I didn't expect it to be HUMUNGOUS. He brought out our pizza in a pizza box (because he predicted we weren't going to finish all of it in one sitting). This was a smart man. He knew what he was talking about. During this meal, I would say my eyes were bigger than my stomach...but hey, I tried. My boyfriend and I had 6 pieces total before we gave up. It was soooooo good, but sooooo "philling" (get it? since Frank's is also known for their philly's?" I wish that pizza could've stuck around, but tasting it once will forever live in my memories. The ribeye tacos were terrific, and I liked the guac on top of it. The customer service was spot on...one of the employees wanted to make sure we enjoyed the pizza and joked around with us. We had a lot of laughs. Thank you for the biggest pizza I'll ever eat in my life, Frank's! I've heard this place has amazing philly's. They have quite the philly selection on their menu too from what I saw. I will return!

Ambior S.

Yelp
Ordered late night delivery to my hotel and was so happy! We got the gluten free crust chili infusion pizza--absolutely delicious. Also ordered a small Greek salad, which was quite large and very fresh with lots of goodies in it.
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
Legitimate cheesesteak. Ribeye steak, sliced thin. All the cheesesteak toppings you could ask for, piled high on a warm hoagie. And the hoagies? Straight from Philly. Is there a difference? Maybe not. My senses say otherwise. Ugh, that chew. Om nom nom. The service, though, was the cherry on top. Walk in, greeted by a very chatty guy with lots of jokes and a very good attitude. Kegan - it's like Megan, but with a K, he quips. Kegan is chipper as they come and immediately suggests I peek at a menu when I walk up ordering a cheesesteak. He's so friendly that I go for it anyway, simply because human interaction is fun. As I open the menu, Kegan suggests the third item down. Cheesesteak Supreme. Close enough. Kegan basically upsold me whether he realized it or not, and he was affable enough that I went for it with some amusement at the exchange. It was my second choice anyway. Throughout the process of making the supreme, Kegan remained engaging and entertaining, from asking if I'd been there before to telling me about how busy weekends were there to holding up a bag of hoagie buns proudly sharing where it came from. This earnest guy would be a boon to any good company after college. 5 stars for memorable meal and memorable service both. Well done, Kegan!

Yelp
Never having been to Philly I was very excited to try these traditional Philly cheesesteaks. I went here for the order the yelp phillyrito but got to try a traditional one as well. Ambiance: this little restaurant is on the corner of 4th st and 13th ave in Minneapolis (in the heart of the university area), there is a bus line that drops off right outside and plenty of metered street parking around. When you walk in there is a clear counter display where you can see the pizza by the slice options. They have booth and table seating. It's pretty basic inside but does the job for the restaurant. Service: the guys working here were very accommodating and nice for our yelp group. Food: between the Phillyrito and the regular Philly cheesesteak I preferred the regular one. The Phillyrito was good but all of the toppings being cold caused the cheese not to melt and the whole sandwich to be cold. They have different types of peppers you can get to add to the cheesesteaks too if you choose (they were very tasty). Overall if you would like to have a traditional Philly cheesesteak this is a great place to go. They also have tons of interesting types of pizza (some with fries and even mac n cheese pizza).

Yelp
This is the pizza I've been searching for since I moved to MN! Folks like to call it the "late night" or "college" slice, but this is the pizza I grew up on in NY. The dough is legit, bubbly and just the right thickness to hold down these awesome topping combos. And guess what? There's actually a crust!!! They are available on Uber Eats, which is helpful for me, since they are 13 miles away from where I live, and I reheat all my deliveries so I have no complaints about the temp because I don't inhabit some dream world where food that's been in a car for over ten minutes can actually hold temp. I just love it and order from them every week! My favorites so far are the Primo and Little Mario. Vodka Sauce on a pizza? Yes please!
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
I had the Gopher. Personal size could've fed two. Great bites in there! Quick delivery late at night.
google avatar

Allen H.

Yelp
I'm gonna be honest - when I walked in and saw the pizzas just sitting in pans out in the open (reminiscent of how it's done at the sh*tty "I love NY Pizza" chains), I had low expectations. But somehow, Frank & Andrea's makes it work. The pizza comes out piping hot and is adorned with a generous heap of toppings. The crust is light, flaky, and NY style thin. There is a moderate amount of grease, but nothing nearly as bad as Prince Street Pizza in NYC. I also got a cheesesteak, which wasn't as good (not enough seasoning) but was passable. This place blows all the big chains out of the water. I will definitely be back for a slice whenever I'm in the area.
google avatar

Colin M.

Yelp
The Fresh Prince, "steak, caramelized tomato, lettuce, extra virgin olive oil, red vinegar, mayo, choice of cheese." No olive oil, mayo or red vinegar. Salad-sized chunks of romaine lettuce... Worst of all, no cheese! No cheese! What clown over at Franks made this? Truly awful.
google avatar

Sheri S.

Yelp
This is my second favorite place in Dinkytown now after Wallys!! I frequent the Andrea location Downtown Minneapolis and love them just the same. I can come here after going out late at night and have an array of pizza to choose from with freshness on point. The after club crowd is just a picky as any other patron. During "normal business hours" on a good day you can basically have the whole place to yourself. I pretty much stick my regular, that is the white cheese pizza and a greek salad. I am not big on the Philly Cheese Steak craze so Andrea's Pizza is a winner for always delivering good pizza!
google avatar

Ira W.

Yelp
First time last night. I ordered the plant based cheesesteak supreme. It was absolutely AMAZING! I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Frankie C.

Yelp
This place is great for a late-night snack after a night on the (dinky)town. Good pizza--I've never ordered a sandwich, but I've heard they're good too. I left a star off because I ordered delivery tonight and they forgot to add my green olives. Also the crust tasted different than when I order a slice in person, but that's probably because I've usually had a few drinks when I order in person. Overall good pizza, quicker delivery than they estimated, friendly delivery person. Will order again..but pls remember my green olives next time
google avatar

Ellen M.

Yelp
Good and greasy, their thin slice pizza hit the spot. I got the pepperoni, sausage and bacon variety, but there were many other options. I didn't see any veggie options, but was told they could make one up if I wanted to wait. My sons got the Philly cheese steak, which was a hit.
google avatar

Mahva J.

Yelp
Note: I have not physically visited this restaurant. I ordered delivery and so my review is about this experience. It is not often that I "reward" myself by eating a day's calories in one meal. Well, I have no regrets whatsoever in making this choice for my lunch from Frank From Philly & Andrea Pizza. I got the regular fries and the Cheese Steak Supreme. First, I ate ALL THE FRIES. This is not something that I do, except when I eat the fries from Culver's. Most of the time, fries are blase, at best. Or, when they're part of a delivery order, they're cold and soggy. NOT THESE FRIES! They were wrapped appropriately so that they were hot and tasty when they arrived. They were perfectly salty and tasted so potatoey. I, at first, cursed myself for not asking for ketchup. The fries needed no such accouterments. I HAD to get the cheese steak because a friend of mine has been food-harassing me on Facebook with pictures of these sandwiches.Well, I'm no Permit Patty or or Lemonade Lenora, so no authorities were called. Only my jealousy increasing at an exponential rate was the only hazard. Well, having lived close to Philly and having eaten more cheese steaks than I'll ever admit to without extreme inducements, I know good cheese steak when I eat one. And, this cheese steak took me back to Philly, big time. Everything about it made me reminisce about drives from the Jersey Shore into town for these wonderful delights. The bread is soft, yet not so soft that the sandwich falls apart. The meat is perfectly cooked and his the right amount of chew. The cheese melts perfectly into the mushrooms, onions, and peppers. There was only one problem with the sandwich: I'd ordered it with provolone AND cheez wiz. I got only the Wiz. While this didn't detract from the taste of the sandwich, I was a little disappointed. Provolone, American, and Wiz are the only acceptable cheeses for a cheese steak. Having this sandwich is the ONLY time American and Wiz are even in my vocabulary, so take it seriously. When I'm not feeling lazy or my knees will allow me to take an extra walk on campus, I'll be visiting this shop in person. In the meantime, they're at the top of my list for delivery options. Get this food, any way you can. You won't regret it. I think that the Universe knew that I'd be eating here because I just joined a gym yesterday.

Yelp
This place makes the same great New York style pizza you can get from Andrea Pizza in the Minneapolis skyway, right off of Dayton's. We love the crispy mini pepperoni, the crust is always perfectly done and not too thin, and the cheese has a rich flavor. If you're a sauce person, you may want to order extra, as these pies have a little less sauce than average. My husband also loves the Philly Cheesesteaks, he says everything about the sandwich is on point - the way it's prepared, the quality of ingredients, and packaging is excellent. The only thing he might change is to add a little more meat - to split the difference between the regular amount and double meat - would really enhance the overall flavor of the sandwich. This place has a dine in area and also offers delivery. You can also order through Uber Eats. Don't miss this place!
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
I have been here both for early lunch and late night adventures. I really enjoy the cheesesteaks here, especially because they offer cheese wiz as an option which is just classic. You can select the toppings for your cheesesteak. The pizza is also good like that they offer it by the slice as well as a whole pie. It's located on the u of m campus so be ready to see college students working there and in there. It is usually more busy at night then during he day from my experience. Don't have wait long for your food it's made fast, unless it's super busy.

Terry N.

Yelp
Pizza was average and cold upon delivery. Driver didn't deliver to my door and left in the entry way to my building after specific instructions I gave him on the phone.

Nesha A.

Yelp
My husband suggested that we try this place out. It is more of a spot for college kids. I didn't really like the pizza there. We ordered fries with our pizza with cheese on the side and the cheese was really thick and taste like cheeze wiz from the can. Nasty. The fries were pretty tasty. Also they would reheat the pizza for you in the oven in which that only made the pizza harder than what it was when sitting behind the glass. I don't believe I'll go there again.

The pizza isn't the best but this place is perfect for a college campus. They are open til 3am so it's the go to for a drunken late night snack. The pizza is great, many different options and unique combinations. Occasionally you'll get a slice that has been sitting out for awhile which makes you regret your walk there, but most of the time the pizza is fresh and tasty. I recommend ordering a whole pizza over slices because when it's made fresh the pizza is fantastic and bursting with flavor. This is the best pizza in town, I highly recommend it. I've heard good things about their Philly Cheesesteak, I can't wait to try it!

Yelp
Andrea's pizza is just good, solid pizza. Are you sober? Get Andreas. Are you drunk? Get Andreas? Walking home from class, need a quick dinner or midnight snack? Get Andreas. Their favors are constantly rotating, with a huge selection of everything from veggies to chicken. They don't try to be anything fancy, and they accomplish so much by it. Great thin crust that's heated up right in front of you, and enough toppings variations to satisfy any craving. Whether you're getting by the slice or the whole pie, it's very hard to leave disappointed after eating their pizza.

Yelp
I didn't even like cheesesteaks before I took a gamble and ordered one from Frank's (of which I had already been a fan of). I can't get enough of the cheesesteak supreme, and I have yet to find another Philly that compares. Could eat here every day.
