Google
Service was ok, not busy but it took a while for our pizza to arrive (we had to ask). Shrimp pizza was not hot and had little toppings cheese or sauce. Meat pizza was hot and greasy and the crust was black and the edges overcooked. I just looked at the pictures in the other reviews and ours is by far overcooked. We ordered a small shrimp and a larger meat pizza-shrimp pizza probably sat around till the larger pizza was done. Overpriced and overcooked DRY DRY DRY pizza; do not recommend. We all agreed-waste of time and money. Because of the cost we took the leftovers back to our apartment-ended up throwing it out.

Google
i always do to go. the small tomato pie no mozzarella well done today was perfect . I always get small cheese didn't know how wonderful this would turn out for my taste. fortunate frank's is in watertown cause there are no other good reliable pizza places. really made my day.

Google
I think we are in a pizza coma. It sure was fabulous. They bake their crust using a coal-fired oven. It is perfection - thin and crispy - like we like it. Instead of tomato sauce, they use only fresh tomatoes which I love because that allows the ultra-thin sliced pepperoni, Italian sausage and bacon to shine. We also had onions, green peppers, and mushrooms, plus mozzarella on our pizza. The Italian salad was great too. The best oil and vinegar dressing with crisp, cold greens and veggies. Service was superb.

It’s really disappointing to get burnt pizza ,it has good flavors but the burning flavor is overpowering. I wish I had checked my order before leaving

Randall P

Google
Very fine quality pizza. You may wait a bit for it to be cooked and arrive at your table, but they ensure a quality pie by not crowding the oven. Good level of crispiness and chewiness. Very tasty cheese and sauce. I got a sausage and mushroom pie and was very satisfied. Worth a visit!

Google
Wow… NOT worth ordering!! Find a different pizza place!! There’s hundreds of others, and this one’s near the bottom (plus: how do you mess up pizza?) Order took 50+ mins for two pizzas. The Uber driver waited for 25 mins at the shop when it was supposed to be ready upon their arrival AND THEN—THEY GOT THE ORDER WRONG! Two pepperoni pizzas turned into two boring cheese pizzas. Not at all what I wanted AND THEN—the pizza isn’t even that good despite the fact that ITS PIZZA This is the first and last time I will be ordering from Frank Pepe Pizzeria. I do not recommend!!! Honestly Take Papa John’s over this

Google
There seemed to be a lack of love of pizza making here. The pizza was very thick for this style of pizza and underwhelming. We paid and left but won’t be returning.

Google
The area was very welcoming and roomy. Very clean and a lot of room when seated. The staff is very professional and friendly. They do not rush you and they accommodate you greatly. My salad was good, very good actually. Between 1 and 5, I would say 5. My pizza was great, wasn't too heavy or too light, just right. Nothing wrong with some good pizza. The taste was rich, the crust was just right. The meat was great 😊also (pause). The pricing was fair, I will attend again, with my friend Raphael. Thank you.

Evan H.

Yelp
I love New Haven style pizza, I got way out of my way to buy their pizza. Nothing cooks like coal. Very friendly service

Ian N.

Yelp
Pepperoni & Hot Cherry Pepper Pizza (4/5): The crust was thicker than most neopolitan style pizzas I've had. It had a decent chewiness and char. I liked the thick cut pepperonis paired with the hot peppers (although they might've been just a bit too acidic). Very solid pizza.  White Clam Pizza (4/5): A very unique change of pace. I probably wouldn't order this just on its own, but it paired perfectly with the other pepperoni pizza I got. I enjoyed how much the clam flavor really stood out.  RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Yelp
Was so excited when I saw they had a Frank Pepe's within walking distance from Hotel though that did not last long. Went in the afternoon and took forever to be seated and I was the only one waiting. Server was MIA and took forever to get things like refills or napkins. The pizza had the great charcoal flavor but sadly was one of the greasiest pies I have ever had at Frank Pepe's or for that matter any pizza place. The original location is still the best

Erica C.

Yelp
There is nothing better than to ease into the weekend with a pie from Frank Pepe! What I love most is that Frank Pepe has a great rewards program and even offers a $10 coupon for signing up. That means more pizza for your buck! My review is for a takeout experience. The Watertown location has ample parking, great staff, with indoor and (limited) outdoor seating and service. I placed an online order for a custom pie with two toppings and I had the option to make it well done. I walked into the restaurant and the staff were fast and friendly with my online order. My overall experience was easy and no fuss.

Dody E.

Yelp
Delicious pizza (for Boston area) at a great price with very friendly staff! Went to celebrate my good friend's birthday and the staff was very kind, the pizza was fresh and delicious, and it didn't break the bank. We got the classic tomato pie with cheese and basil. I think the original Pepe's in New Haven is substantially better, though, perhaps due to ingredient quality and/or oven age... But still, this place is great - with an old school environment too. Highly recommend!

Adina S.

Yelp
My friend and I met up in Arsenal Yards to grab dinner. We decided to check out Frank Pepe this time. It was a weeknight before 6pm and the restaurant was pretty empty. The waiter came around and explained the menu to us. We decided to order two small pies and split the toppings on each pie, which I loved that we were able to do! Neither of us were over hungry, so we just ended up having half a small each. I've tried the pizza from the original location before and I feel like it was a bit better, but I was still satisfied overall. If you haven't tried Frank Pepe before, go for the White Clam pizza because it's something interesting and unique!

Justin T.

Yelp
While I know Frank Pepe is from New Haven, I never go to New Haven. So when I am in Boston, Frank Pepe's is a mandatory stop. The Doppio Pepperoni is my pick. The quantity of pepperoni cannot be beat, with a flavorful sauce and a great crispy crust. This time, I tried their cannoli pie. Eek. This I would not recommend. The cannoli filling was fine enough but the pie crust was not great. Take your cannoli business to Wegman's instead (or Mike's). But for pizza, especially on Uber Eats, Frank Pepe is a top pick.

Bea T.

Yelp
Delicious pizza my first time trying Frank and Pepe's. The great artisan we ordered had the large tomato pie cheese pizza. It was a good balance of cheese and sauce, and it's really about the brick oven and dough. Yum!

M W.

Yelp
I Wish I Could give 4.5. Got a Small Pepperoni pizza and not a lot of Pepperoni on the pizza. But the sauce is amazing. Only 3 - 4 pepperoni pieces per slice. But still amazing

Katelyn C.

Yelp
The food here is incredible! My first time trying New Haven pizza and I loved it. the service was also prompt and the restaurant had an old-school feel, despite being located inside a mall. Restaurant was also very clean.

Jason C.

Yelp
Really good pizza. Tomato sauce is tasty and the large is massive and delicious! Highly recommended!

Jeff G.

Yelp
I've visited two Frank Pepe restaurants on two different occasions while I was traveling to Boston for work. I take every chance I get to eat pizza while I'm in the northeast, and Frank Pepe seems to be conveniently located when I'm here. And I'm very happy for it, because I think the pizza here is great. I keep it simple with the cheese and doppio pepperoni. The crust is deliciously crispy and charred and the sauce and cheese complement each other very well. Maybe a little heavy on these cheese and grease on the pepperoni, but it's not offputting at all. Still wanted to eat every slice. I'd come back here any time.

Raquel G.

Yelp
Was really excited to try this place but left wanting more tbh. I had heard about it for so long so maybe it was overhyped a Bit. Server was suppppper kind and nice :)

Nicki L.

Yelp
Pretty similar to the flagship spot in New Haven and certainly better than most (if not all) pizza spots in the Boston area. Only downside is that the prices are wicked steep for a pie, but hey, I guess you get what you pay for. Grab a bottle of Foxon Park Birch Beer along with your pizza. It's a CT tradition!

Big N.

Yelp
Another fabulous lunch , the food was amazing the service was excellent, the ambiance just fantastic couldn't have been any better thanks!

G S.

Yelp
I don't remember other Pepe's having this much cheese on their pizza. Crust was delicious and on point.. toppings high quality and fresh, but a ton, and I mean a TON, of cheese on this pizza (as in sliding off). Maybe it was just a bad day.

Eugene W.

Yelp
I had Frank Pepe's original location in New Haven, and I've got to say... this place doesn't really match up. We got the amanti della carne, which was just all right. The crust definitely has that slightly burnt, crispy texture that I like. However, the pizza was really salty. While the meat was decently flavorful, nothing really stood out. Besides the crust and the meat, the quality was no different from Pizza Hut or Domino's. That would be fine, except for the fact that the pizzas are INSANELY overpriced. How the heck are they charging $35 for a pizza? If you want the most bang for your buck, get the medium pizza. Their pricing structure doesn't make sense, but here are the calculations with Amanti della Carne (other flavors follow a similar pattern): Small: (pi*6^2 sq inches)/($16) = 7.06 sq in / $ Medium: (pi*8^2 sq inches)/($26) = 7.73 sq in / $ Large: (pi*9^2 sq inches)/($33.50) = 7.59 sq in /$ According to the calculations above, medium is the best deal but not by a huge amount. The large somehow costs more per square inch than the medium... TL;DR is that this Frank Pepe's is insanely overpriced. Maybe the white clam pizza is actually worth it, but it wasn't available when we went (April 2022).

Francisco P.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza spot in the area. We enjoyed a delicious pizza outdoors in the beautiful Arsenal Yards on a warm day out. The guy at the front desk was nice and the pizza was delivered pretty quickly. I do think it's a bit overpriced but there was a deal to get $10 off for your first online takeout order. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before movie night or shopping. Definitely a new staple in the Watertown dining scene.

Eliot S.

Yelp
It's a joke that Pepe's Pizza wasn't ranked in The Top 100 nationally. Pepe's Pizza is the best in the country and is a few cuts above all other pizza places nationally!

D S.

Yelp
Delivery was quick and the pizza was still hot. I found the crust a little soggy for my taste and the pizza not flavorful. That said, I shared the pizza with someone who thinks it is some of the best pizza. You can always try it once.... Good luck!

Sheller K.

Yelp
I had several pizzas here during my four week stay at the nearby Hampton Inn. Great pizza! I tried several different kinds and was not disappointed. I got takeout three times and ate in once. The sauce has a little kick and the crust was cooked perfectly. They have a rewards program if you live in the area. If I lived close, it would definitely be a place I would order from frequently. Delicious!

HG Y.

Yelp
Nice Pizza for takeout! Many options to choose from! I like the one located at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown.

Andy A.

Yelp
The service and ambience are always top-notch. And the pizza is just EPIC. That is all.

Ryan G.

Yelp
The OG New Haven one is the best Honestly I have family near there but if anyone takes a trip there it's a must do.

Susan G.

Yelp
The food was excellent, and the service was also excellent. The host at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great tasting pizza and great service as well. S Glazebrook

Meira S.

Yelp
Super good pizza and fast service! Thin crispy crust with a really nice sauce. It's really worth the try. The crust will be well done in their brick oven so be prepared, but delicious!

jackie b.

Yelp
Gold standard. Simply amazing because they start and finish with the best ingredients. Whichever location you choose- FrankPepe is the finest!

Michelle O.

Yelp
The pizza was ok, customer service was nice, what I cannot pass my mind is the price. $29.99 for a Large Margarita Pizza. Not even their competitors Ber××× charges that much. To me is not worth it. Thr restaurant was cleaned, specious. We went for lunch around 3pm only 1 table was occupied not too busy.

Warren H.

Yelp
Love the clam pizza and salad. It was good portion we got small for 2 people and a large salad. Would go again. Service is good and quick.

John A.

Yelp
Food good. Pizza good. Service polite but not a big part of the experience. Clean space. Too expensive. $35 for a pizza???

Marina O.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza place so far. They have cool flavors. The staff is friendly and nice. The place is usually not that crowded that you will be able to find a table if you decide to come in. My favorite pizza is meatballs and ricotta. I highly recommend you to try it if you like ricotta as I do :)

Emily A.

Yelp
Ordered a pizza and a Caesar salad for delivery. Was the first time ordering from this place. Normally I do not do delivery. I was very disappointed. The lettuce was quite old. The only thing that came with the $7.50 Caesar salad was old lettuce and one olive. On the description it said it would be Hearts Romaine lettuce with pecorino cheese and croutons. There was no pecorino cheese or croutons. Just old lettuce that looked iceberg lettuce. Whoever put the salad together I am surprised they let it leave the restaurant. When I first opened it I was compelled to start taking pieces out to throw them away. I did not eat the salad. Called to complain. Still waiting for a refund on the Caesar salad. The pizza was decent. Maybe they should just focus on Pizza.

Paul Francis M.

Yelp
A nice thin crusted pie. I live close to the original but have yet gone there which I am now looking forward to doing. Ordered myself a small cheese pizza but substituted the red sauce for pesto. Not too busy for an early Wednesday evening so came out at a decent time. Threw some parmesan cheese to soak up all the drooling pesto falling off my pizza. Edges were on the crisp side but overall a good pizza.

Yelp
Most definitely the worst dining experience I've ever had. We arrived at our reserved time 10 mins early, they sat us promptly right at the reserved time. 7pm. Booth seats were dirty, asked someone to wipe it, took a few minutes but the manager (?) did come to wipe it off. (though not thoroughly) 15 mins goes by, no one even acknowledges us. 3 ppl sitting at in a booth with no water. I wave down a waitress and ask for our waiter. She said she will let them know. Server comes 5 mins later angry and telling us "no one told me I had a table here, I just screamed at all of them!" We place our orders, she informed us the wait is a bit long so we can just have our salad first. Salad comes in a timely manner, just the worst salad I've seen: leaves piled on top of each other with crappy quality ingredients. ONE HOUR goes by. nothing. we were just chatting but were getting very hungry. Meanwhile they're pumping out take out pizzas by us every 5 mins. another 20 mins goes by, server goes to the manager and later manager comes over to tell us our ticket was lost. his words were "it happens, once or twice a night" "I would offer a discount on your bill but you're already getting a special" (it was their 97th anniversary so we all ordered 97 cent pizzas) also that crappy salad. I found him to be rude and not owning up to their mistakes, not in the least sorry about our experience so far. Another 20 mins goes by... YES. Our server comes over and tells us they lost our ticket ONCE AGAIN. I was in disbelief. She asked if we wanted our pizza to go. We said no, please get it to us ASAP. Manager never came back to address this or apologize. 10 mins later, the pizzas come. It was just ridiculous. our server was frustrated and offered us free desserts. Save your money, all the desserts were horrible. Without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had at any eatery, fast food included. It is run horribly, chaos all over. Will never be back again.

Yelp
I first visited Pepe Pizzeria at Chestnut Hill a few days after its Grand Opening several years ago. Having been a regular fan of Pepe's in New Haven where I lived for more than 10 years, I was delighted that my favorite New Haven-style thin-crust pizza had finally come to the Boston area. My family and I have come regularly and always had a 5-star experience. But our experience a few days ago was a deep disappointment. The crust of our pizza was not the thin, crispy, slightly burned crust that has been the signature of the legendary New Haven style pizza since forever. Instead it was a bready crust about 1/4 inch thick, just like you'd find in any common, fast-food type pizzeria. The topping was good, but the pie was definitely not "New Haven Style," as Pepe has always proudly advertised and his fans have always loved. This time, the product had changed, and I asked the waitress why. She replied that we had to specifically ask for "thin crust" when ordering, otherwise we would get the thicker, bready crust. This has never happened before in previous visits. There was nothing in the menu that tells us that if we didn't specifically order "New Haven Style" crust, we would now automatically get thick, bready crust? WTF? Hasn't Pepe's gotten it backwards? Since Pepe's advertises that it is famous for New Haven style thin-crust pizza, shouldn't it serve that style automatically, unless a customer asks specifically for thick-crust? And in any case, shouldn't the menu specifically warn that customers will get thick-crust unless they ask for thin-crust, so that customers will not be deeply disappointed that they didn't get the pizza that they thought they were getting?

Michael K.

Yelp
I got the regular, great new york slice. Not a fan of the burnt crust which is due to the coal fire, don't like the taste or texture it adds, but some people are. Wait was pretty long for an empty store, and the layout of the place was a little strange.

Amber L.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant with my toddler for a quick lunch. When I arrived the hostess asked if we were carrying out in which I stated no, dining in. She looked a bit taken aback but did seat us. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. However the woman who delivered our pizza to our table didn't say a word to us , just dropped the pizza down on the stand and walked away. She was noted be friendly with other patrons. When we were leaving the hostess just glared at us from behind her stand despite me saying thank you. My toddler was well behaved and sat with me the whole time. I can't help but wonder if there was a racial component to my interactions while there. The pizza was decent. However I would not be returning.

Anna F.

Yelp
Had a great experience with ordering delivery from here to Cambridge. The required foxon park white birch sodas were nice and cold, and the Pepe's pizza had that unmistakeable New Haven quality- from great ingredients and a nice char on the thin crust.

Hilary L.

Yelp
Delicious! We had the White Pizza with Mozzarella, strange we had to pay extra for Mozzarella, but it was delicious! A quick walk from the Hampton Inn. Perfect hotel room dinner!

Merril P.

Yelp
Great New Haven Apizza. Surprising great apizza . Compares favorably to anything in Boston. Put on in Kenmore Square, please

Jade S.

Yelp
I just went into Frank Pepe's to see if there were slices available for lunch and the very kind woman at the front (Her name was Melissa) let me know that although they don't do slices, if i download the rewards on my phone, I can get $10 off my first purchase and get the price of a small pizza down to a very good price. She was very kind and attentive and answered all of my questions all while multitasking prepping salad dressings! Great customer service and problem solving by Melissa in Watertown!

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
White Clams Pizzeria is the best place to find a greasy. Thanks you, Dr. Jacqueline Sacco, MD Ph.D

Tony Q.

Yelp
I've been to the original and now this new one in watertown. Easy easy location in Arsenal Yards with easy parking. It was pouring rain the day we went so no other dine-in but the takeout business was non-stop. Ordered a namesake white clam pizza and the della meats pizza. Super crispy thin bottom but the crust was a bit tough on my teeth so ended up not eating all of the frust. The white clam was pretty good, would have liked a little bit of lemon on top possibly? The clams were a bit chewy but thats understandable. The meats was actually great, lots of toppings. Definitely worth going to

Jesse S.

Yelp
This place is sooo good!!! Just try it and you will LOVE. I still have cravings for this place after 5 years, it is that good.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
I don't usually eat pizza but when I do It has to be mouth watering FrAnk Pepe did this pizza right with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. A little on the pricier side for Pizza but I would definitely recommend this place if your look for an extra good slice they have lots of different kinds to choose from. I wouldn't recommend the one without cheese thou it had no flavor and who eats pizza without cheese anyways. I think they gave it to me by mistake because I ordered a few pizzas.

Qme L.

Yelp
So excited to see my favorite CT pizza place open up a new location in arsenal yards! Only open for delivery or take out. I placed an order online and picked it up in store with ease. They are busy there but very efficient. The pizza was delicious! Thin crust, crispy but not burnt. Everything coal fired pizza should be. A great addition to the list of shops and restaurants!

Don T.

Yelp
I was spoiled and transfixed on Wooster St in the mid 1960s. Ever since I try to hit up a Pepe's outlet whoever possible. I love this style of pizza. Now, visiting family in Boston. I pigged out-over two days-on a large sausage, pepper and onions. The toppings were so fresh and abundant. My companions had a combo margherita and something else. They loved it and enjoyed their leftovers. Our server-a young man, Alejandro (maybe)-was very patient and pleasant. If you like this style of pizza, you came to the right place.

Marsha W.

Yelp
What a great pizza and team! We have tried a few of their pies so far and they have not disappointed. What's best is you can really tell they care about the local businesses around, and the quality they put out. When I tell folks at work visiting MA that Frank Pepe's just opened up you should see the faces of the ones from NY, NJ light up. Clearly you are an east coast favorite! I'm a bit weird, but that why I love your pizza. You've got the right stuff! Crispy, crunchy, soft, chewy, thin, and yes burnt in all the right places. Your toppings are generous, where's my fork? Best of, I'm notorious for eating leftover pizza for the next two days and you can really tell when you've got a great pizza how it tastes after throwing it back into the toaster oven. I promise you if you haven't already, toast your leftovers and it'll taste like it came back out of the oven for the first time. That chewy and crunchy crust remains. Even the clams on the pizza is still tender, garlic is a little crunchy, YESSSSSS. Same goes for the veggie pie, crunchy and caramelized vegetables, yes please! I also like throwing some red pepper flakes on my Pepe. Yum! Oh, ricotta pie is wicked good too! Not too sweet, and you can taste the ricotta how it's meant to taste reminding you of those late weekend nights you stumbled into Bova's bakery in the North End looking for a slice of ricotta pie to soak up the alcohol lol! Welcome to the neighborhood Pepe, SOOOO glad you're here and near!

Julian V.

Yelp
Best Connecticut pizza I've had outside of New Haven. I've been a few times and it's definitely becoming a go-to pizza spot for me. Recently went with a large group and the staff were very friendly about it all. The meatball and ricotta is my personal favorite. Will definitely keep coming back for it.
