What a wonderful addition to Germantown and to the LGBTQ scene here in Nashville! Frankie J's has been open since March 2023 and I am upset that it took me so long to visit, but now that I have...they will never be able to get rid of me!
To end an amazing weekend with a few friends in town from San Diego, we decided to do their farewell brunch at Frankie J's and we are so happy we did! First off, the place is fantastic with every inch thought out in the design. It is an old house that has been converted, but it did not lose the essence of its history. The rooms are still separated as they once were, and while each is a distinct space, the theme of Frankie J's runs through...even into the restrooms!
When you walk in, you arrive to the entry way outfitted with a table that features a water station, menus, utensils, condiments and a tub a peanut butter along with spoons for your pup! it is open seating, so wander around and park it where you feel best. For us, while the inside is fabulous, we opted to dine on the front porch/patio.
J, of Frankie J's, was our server and he was an absolute treat! Funny, energetic, helpful and kind! The kitchen staff, we failed to get his name, was also a joy! While the place was not busy just yet, they gave us the energy we all needed on a Sunday morning!
Food wise, Frankie J's offers a Mexican inspired menu featuring updates to the classics along with a few other American-style staples. They have an All Day menu, as well as Brunch menu. We opted for a combination with a heavy brunch influence. We started with a couple order of empanadas sided with regular and sweet potato fries. The empanadas were fried to perfection, cheesy and crispy! For our mains three of the four of us got the Breakfast Enchiladas and our fourth got chicken nachos. The enchiladas were excellent! Filled to perfection and sauced amazingly. To share, we had to get the biscuits and chorizo gravy, because who sees "chorizo gravy" on a menu and decides NOT to get it!? While I loved my enchiladas, that biscuit and that gravy were phenomenal!
To wash everything down we ordered a round of Bloody Mary's with a couple of Mango Mules. The Bloody may have been the best I have had in Nashville so far.
Overall, I am beyond happy to have finally made it to Frankie J's and cannot wait to go back for cocktails, dinner and of course brunch again. Such a refreshing and accepting environment fostered by the staff and neighborhood!
