Nashville’s Best Italian Restaurants | Eater Nashville

"The flagship location of Brooklyn-born Frankies is a complex in East Nashville that includes the Pizzeria and the Bottega, and Frankies Spuntino 925, located in a former mattress factory within the Laurel and Pine development. Frankie’s Sputino is the full-service restaurant of the three, dishing up an Italian American menu peppered with Sicilian-style meatballs with pine nuts and raisins, escarole and cannellini bean soup, and gnocchi marinara. The pizzeria offers pizza, salads, and beer, in a casual walk-in setting while the bottega is all about take-home delights, from dried pasta and olive oils to salumi and prepared food items." - Ellen Fort

Stumbled across this place while out with my friend. Inside is super cute and unique, the people are also so nice and friendly. We met the owner and the bartender. They have games you can play while waiting for your food, we played checkers. The food WAS SO GOOD! It was indeed authentic Mexican. I’m vegetarian and the vegan meat they have me was the BEST. Also, I’m not a fan of Mexican street corn but their Mexican street corn is the best I’ve ever eaten. This place is also very inclusive 🏳️‍🌈. We love to see it!

I wish I had more alcohol in my cocktail, but I'll let it slide this time. The friendly service covered that shortness.

Love the relaxed atmosphere, service is top notch, attentive service from Brandon and Jonathan and worked out that it’s a rainy Saturday afternoon that we stopped here trying to work out what the rest of our weekend itinerary should be. LOVED this gem of Germantown bar!!!!! Queer or straight or whatever you are, why should that matter??? Shouldn’t the drink that only thing that does? Will be here every time we’re I. Nashville definitely!!! So whether you’re honky tonk close and wanting something a little classy and sophisticated and good drinks, come join!!!! And prices are reasonable!! Check ‘em out!!

Frankie J's is so welcoming to EVERYONE! went in with my husband and had a great time chatting with the bartenders and owner. awesome drink prices, great menu, the best service. 11/10 will be back and recommend that everybody stop in!

What an incredible friendly atmosphere! Frankie J’s has quickly become “THE” neighborhood gay bar in Nashville. Frequent events, amazing food, and an awesome staff that cares deeply for all customers!

This bar is a MUST if you are near Germantown. 11/10 would recommend. They really know how to take care of all the she's/he's/they's/them's! Their backyard got recently renovated so they have a gorgeous event space now 🫅 If you're looking for cheap drinks/food with fantástico Latino vibes then this is the right place for you!

This is my favorite LGBTQ+ bar in town! The staff is so friendly, the drink prices are so good and the food is yummy. They are super welcoming to all. They have a great patio in the back too. They do different theme nights throughout the week/month so check their instagram. This is vibe is lively but chill. No blaring music or crazy dance floor. They also serve Frothy Monkey coffee on certain mornings and on the weekend.

Frankie Jay's is such a great place to hang. The vibe is laid-back, welcoming, and fun! Brunch was yummy, and their espresso martini was a great way to start my day! 😋

Yelp
This place should be a go to for every local and visitor alike. Jay and his staff are all amazing. The food is stellar! Not just "bar food". Yes, the menu is limited but clearly it's so they can focus on serving delicious food. And their drinks are always spot-on. The vibe of the place is so relaxed, unpretentious but still elevated. As Nashville-adjacent residents, it really is one of our favorites places to go. Definitely worth visiting.

Yelp
Loooove love love Frankie J's. I had heard such great things and havent gone until this past weekend. I had no clue it was that big, or that they had a frothy monkey stand inside either! There are a bunch of different rooms, as its a previous house. The backyard is so much bigger than I thought it would be. The perfect hangout spot. They also have some games which I love. All the drinks we got were good. The paloma was strong, but good. I got a hugo spritz- they said they only keep one bottle of st. germain at a time but I lucked out!

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to Germantown and to the LGBTQ scene here in Nashville! Frankie J's has been open since March 2023 and I am upset that it took me so long to visit, but now that I have...they will never be able to get rid of me! To end an amazing weekend with a few friends in town from San Diego, we decided to do their farewell brunch at Frankie J's and we are so happy we did! First off, the place is fantastic with every inch thought out in the design. It is an old house that has been converted, but it did not lose the essence of its history. The rooms are still separated as they once were, and while each is a distinct space, the theme of Frankie J's runs through...even into the restrooms! When you walk in, you arrive to the entry way outfitted with a table that features a water station, menus, utensils, condiments and a tub a peanut butter along with spoons for your pup! it is open seating, so wander around and park it where you feel best. For us, while the inside is fabulous, we opted to dine on the front porch/patio. J, of Frankie J's, was our server and he was an absolute treat! Funny, energetic, helpful and kind! The kitchen staff, we failed to get his name, was also a joy! While the place was not busy just yet, they gave us the energy we all needed on a Sunday morning! Food wise, Frankie J's offers a Mexican inspired menu featuring updates to the classics along with a few other American-style staples. They have an All Day menu, as well as Brunch menu. We opted for a combination with a heavy brunch influence. We started with a couple order of empanadas sided with regular and sweet potato fries. The empanadas were fried to perfection, cheesy and crispy! For our mains three of the four of us got the Breakfast Enchiladas and our fourth got chicken nachos. The enchiladas were excellent! Filled to perfection and sauced amazingly. To share, we had to get the biscuits and chorizo gravy, because who sees "chorizo gravy" on a menu and decides NOT to get it!? While I loved my enchiladas, that biscuit and that gravy were phenomenal! To wash everything down we ordered a round of Bloody Mary's with a couple of Mango Mules. The Bloody may have been the best I have had in Nashville so far. Overall, I am beyond happy to have finally made it to Frankie J's and cannot wait to go back for cocktails, dinner and of course brunch again. Such a refreshing and accepting environment fostered by the staff and neighborhood!

Yelp
I don't often give 5 Star reviews but, after having become a semi-regular customer, and considering the new menu, I can't give Frankie J's anything lower. This is a true gem in Nashville. The staff is simply amazing. Friendly, funny, professional, and kind. The ambiance is warm and inviting. You can sit at or near one of the bars, or, if you want quiet, there is often a room where you can just be with your thoughts (it's a big old house and still feels like one). Plus there are two outdoor areas. A big Southern front porch and a big backyard with a covered sitting area and games. On to the food. I am addicted to the French Fries Grande. The Street Tacos are amazing. I loved the Street Corn but that might not be on the menu any longer. If not...I mourn the loss. They've just updated the menu with some amazing sounding items. I look forward to trying them all. Today I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich on a Bagel with the Hashbrown Bites. Wonderful! The chicken salad is a milder alternative to some of their spicy menu items. And each hashbrown bite was a like a mini latke. I'm going to ask for some sour cream next time. I wonder if they have apple sauce... If you're looking for a relaxed place to just kick back and enjoy, I can't say enough about Frankie J's. These are good folks trying to bring something special to our community. And they have.

Yelp
Writing this review before I even leave the place... It's that good!!! It's in an old house, with multiple little rooms, a bar, and fantastic vibes. The owner is a HOOT and made the experience so much fun! He was our server and was so attentive, cracking so many jokes, and giving suggestions. The food was fantastic. There are three salsas you can get, the green one was my personal favorite. The cocktails are delicious, the food hit the spot, and the service was fantastic. I will definitely be returning for brunch, everything on the brunch menu looks fantastic, and you get free self serve coffee during brunch! This is the new neighborhood spot and I will be a regular. Cheers!

Yelp
Hell of a place to be for the night. My friend group found ourselves here TWICE in the span of several hours late into St. Patrick's day after partying around Germantown during the day. What a gem. The staff here works fast & are super friendly. Multiple rooms to drink & eat in and they check on you often. Tried to go to Sonnys next door & they were at capacity for "probably an hour" so we turned around & went right back to Frankie J's. Should have never left. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
BRUNCH MARTINI... yes please can't wait for the food! Excellent vibe and great music

Yelp
Frankie J's is an absolute diamond. The community and staff are always respectful and fun to be around. The food is delicious, my favorite is the corn and vegan tacos. The setting is amazing, as this place is a house turned into a wonderful bar with multiple rooms for a different setting. The price is just right all around. Ensure to make this spot a go-to!!

Yelp
Well we stumbled on this place and couldn't be happier. After being disappointed at mother's ruin, Frankie js was like a breath of sweet cigar infused air. We met the owner who was just a kind human being trying to do some good in the world. We had an old fashioned and the house marg and both were great. We stumbled on their first sat of the month when they do a pup party... but even though we weren't part of the culture, we were treated like guests of honor.

Yelp
New to Nashville. Love the vibe of this place and they are very dig friendly. The price is reasonable too. I was not a huge fan of the food. Love their draft beer though!

Yelp
My new favorite spot when I visit Nashville. The ambiance is immaculate; plenty of space, laid back, comfy, and the outdoor area in the back is absolutely lovely. The staff are so friendly and easy to talk to. Everything I've ordered to eat there has been exceptional. The salsa in particular was perfect, as was the beef for the tacos (again, amazing job on that Evan!). I'll definitely be back anytime I visit.

Yelp
We (and our dog, Toast) love Frankie J's--such a great addition to Germantown, and usually a bit less crowded than some other spots on 6th. Everyone who works here is wonderful, sweet, and attentive. They keep good vibes going strong from the front patio, through the several rooms and bars inside, all the way out to the spacious backyard. Each of the spaces can have a different feel, which is fun, and they host events like Drag Race viewing parties, bingo, and trivia on Tuesdays. There's a full bar and drinks are reasonably priced, and the food menu is there to satisfy any craving. We particular like the French fries, and are looking forward to coming for brunch sometime soon!

Yelp
Nashville Native Came out in 2002 when Connections was the place to go. (those were the days) haha but in 2025 Frankie J's is the place to go if you want to support gay and Queer people as an ally in a difficult time in this country or better yet if you are local and Queer. I am pretty reclusive but went on a whim and had the best time i've had in such a long time with very kind interesting people in the community! Also great to go all times of the day, but i had the most fun outside with a DJ spinning and seeing people i hadn't seen in such a long time! It's great because you can go and dance if you want at times and also have a quieter place to go chill and meet new people who are safe to be around again in a time that is divisive. I make that comment because it's a really welcoming environment and the people i met were some of the most hilarious attractive inside and out. Sexy Fun for those who want an escape and definitely unique compared to gay bars in Nashville Chicago San Francisco etc. They are all great but there is something about Frankie J's that sober or drinking i've had an incredible time.

Yelp
We were headed to meet friends and got to the area early when we noticed Frankie J's. We stopped in and it was clear THIS is where our night was headed. The bar is great. TV screens. Full bar. Food menu. They have smaller side rooms that would be great for date nights or groups. There is a backyard space which is great for groups. We can't wait to come back for brunch and bring friends! This is the kind of place the neighborhood has been needing.

Yelp
Welcoming and fun. Also the food is great. Plus margaritas on tap and dog friendly. Great patio spot in Germantown.

Yelp
What?! Where did this place come from? It's so amazing. Relaxing vibe and the most gregarious owner I've ever met. The food is exactly what you'd want at a neighborhood bar. I want to say the service was tremendous but it feels weird because the owner himself served us. It was so nice. On tap margaritas are precisely what you want them to be - cheap and delicious!

Yelp
Yo!!!! This place is definitely worth checking out. The owner was welcoming from the time I waked I the door. He had me laughing and cracking up. He had that Leslie Jordan personality. You can't help but love him. All the staff for that matter were nice, smiles on their face and looked like they actually enjoyed what they did. Which for me makes all the difference. The food was good, being from Cali, it's hard to find good Mexican food in other places but this was banging. All the flavors I expected and needed. And this place is so cute. I like the fact there seems to be all these different rooms in doors and out doors. It's kinda makes you want to come back and try a new room every time you come. The next time I am back in Nashville I will definitely be coming back.

Laura T.

Yelp
Incredible bar. Safe, wonderful, and not too loud. The chill queer bar we've always needed. Super nice and friendly servers and good food and drinks.

Nina H.

Yelp
The best new bar in Germantown. Plenty of free street parking, so it isn't a problem even on weekends. Walkable and cute neighborhood. Fast service, lively and fun crowd. Quiet front patio, lively indoor rooms and bar, fun outdoor area in the back. Great for groups, date night, solo outings. The food is great!

Yelp
How the heck did I not know??? Do yourself a favor... if you live in Nashville or just visiting, stop by Frankie J's. Super friendly, exemplary service, and top notch drinks and eats. Amazing vibe to fit any vibe- cannot recommend enough!

Delshad H.

Yelp
Food not good very bland and not enough seasonings service was not good as well don't recommend

Yelp
I'm and you perhaps said insensitive things unintentionally which very attempted to apologize for and ask for coaching . That I was ejected from the property with no explanation (centered around a political campaign) tells me this place is not interested in the show vs the support for LGBTQIA+ issues. Love this place but now don't feel comfortable as a straight man coming here. It's unfortunate

J D.

Yelp
What a great find today for lunch!!! The food was top notch! The drinks were great, the beer was cold and they're dog friendly!! Can't wait to visit again and support this new neighborhood hangout!!

Yelp
The owner and the staff were very welcoming! Our server Kyle did a great job. I love their mission of helping the homeless community. The queso was yummy! Would definitely come here again!

Lesley C.

Yelp
Had the BEST time on the patio at Frankie J's with a group of friends today! Great service, cocktails, and vibes. Would highly recommend popping by if you're in the area.

Samantha M.

Yelp
So good service and very friendly staff would highly recommend! Amiin and J came by to check on our table periodically to make sure we didn't need anything. Thank you for everything!

Sue L.

Yelp
this place isn't just great as a gay bar/restaurant, this place is just great!! food is amazing, vegetarian options were delicious, fun atmosphere gay or straight and will definitely be back!
