"If you roast in the Jersey sun all day, by 6pm you’re either greasy or burnt. The same can be said for most of the Shore’s burger options. The exception is Frankie’s Bar & Grill, which is home to one of the northern Shore’s best burgers. These huge and simple burgers are cooked at the bar and seared with a perfect char. Just know that they usually go one temperature rarer than you order, so if you’re a medium-rare person, we’d suggest you go medium. Came here for a family business meeting, it's been also been 10 years since I have been here , this place hasn't changed, it is like going back to the 1980's just amazing. The comfort food here is the best , especially the grilled chicken sandwich and the potato soap is in my opinion the best I have ever had. Also the bar is beautiful as well with the coldest draft beer around Highly recommended this piece of heaven.

Google
This one sucks to say, because the place and atmosphere of this restaurant is fantastic. Feels like it’s ripped right out of Cheers. We ordered the Boom Boom chicken wrap and Cheeseburger, they were not good. The burger was greasy and its edges were burnt, the boom boom chicken was acid reflux inducing due to the spices used. The service was nice but, beyond that there is really no redeeming qualities to this bar. Their prices are incredibly high and inconsistent, I’m not sure how a roast beef sandwich dip costs more than penne vodka. This place needs to overhaul its menu as quickly as possible

Google
Atmosphere is great! The hamburger is the best! So thick, you can barely open wide enough. All hand shaped and cooked to order in front of you at the bar. Local favorite.

Google

Google
The steak salad was so damn good I forgot to take a picture - French onion soup was on point too and neither items skimp on the good stuff. Great atmosphere, it’s poppin even on a Tuesday night. Love sitting at the bar, old school feel.

Google
First timers, lived up to a friend's recommendation. Had a Mushroom Swiss burger that was thick and juicy. Very cool nostalgic signs everywhere in the place. Will definitely visit again!

Google
Had lunch with friends at this fun and busy place. The mini reuben on special was awesome and the kobi cheeseburger was very good. Onion soup was also great but the pastrami sandwich and wedge salad weren't inspired and were a bit disappointing. Had a delicious Uncle Albert (cocoa and peppermint schnapps) presented beautifully in a wine glass for dessert and shared a generous portion of equally delicious Tollhouse pie. Service was adequate. We did not receive an order of French Fries but everything else was fine. We have been here before and will go back again. Hoping it was just an off day.

Yelp
Are you kidding me ? I'm the first person to write a review for Frankies Bar & Grill Point Pleasant, New Jersey I can't believe that to be true but I couldn't find it after a few searches But enough about that... I think I may have had the best burger here that I've had in several years Packed house on a holiday weekend The table turnover is fast here Long waiting lines are seated quickly and the food is out surprisingly fast But don't let the speedy moves scare you...top quality servers handle the pace with no problem at all Top shelf staff Top shelf food I really never thought I could rave about a burger But here I am...and I did Give this place a try when at the Jersey Shore

Yelp
PROS: This is a VERY nice place to come and eat. Historic brick walls and windows and bronze ceiling. Food was good, priced well, nice menu variety, and free parking across the street CONS: The waitress had an attitude towards my friend and I which is an absolute turn off. The bathroom is also just a two person bathroom which can cause a line OVERALL: I might come back here cause overall it was amazing, but I hope the server is a bit nicer this time

Yelp
I visited for first time while visiting and weather turned foul. Happy to say that Frankie's was the perfect respite- classic local bar: appropriately mellow lighting, nearby brews on tap, great chowder. So good, in fact, that we returned the next day. Prices reasonable, enjoyed chowder again, will return.

Jesse F.

Yelp
Food was amazing. The best burger I've had at any restaurant in many years. Friendly service and nice environment for a get-together with a bro or an after-beach meal with adult family. Decently priced.

Brad P.

Yelp
It's become a regular spot when we eat out. The menu range is amazing. Never had a bad bite. Burgers are on point and cooked right in front of you at the bar We usually hit a special too.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Went for lunch with my friend. Food is really good. Sat at the bar, I ordered a burger and they cook it right in front of you. My friend had the chicken Frankie and she absolutely loved it. We would definitely go back.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Grill inside the bar area -we got to watch them cook our burger. Neat experience and the bar tenders were attentive and quick. Burger was

Yelp
We did take out. Nachos were very disappointing. Barely any toppings . Dry chips without Melted yummy cheese. So sad. Burger was good, but poppy seed bun wasn't preferred. Chicken strips and fries good.

Kerry A.

Yelp
I am so sad about what Frankie's has become compared to what it used to be. The food has become so generic and subpar. Almost everyone at my table ordered French onion soup and it was basically water with onions, bread, and cheese. Two burgers ordered were both over cooked. The drunken clams were completely dry. Bread used to be complimentary but we had to buy it. I don't even dare order chicken fingers or French dip any more, even though they were my favorite foods to order here under previous ownership. If you're looking for good service and nostalgic ambiance, this is a good place but the food has lost everything that used to be great about this restaurant.

Spera S.

Yelp
It's been a while since I visited the new and improved Frankie's .. the place had amazing food . Atmosphere is simple . Rustic with great old rock tunes on the sound system .. not too loud just perfect . As I write this "can't ya see" is on in the background . I had a fantastic steakhouse salad , picture included . My wife had a handmade bean burger . Drunken clams and clams casino also for apps they were amazing, cup of New England clam chowder was thick and full of clams , also homemade .. if you're looking for a nice retreat without an pretentious this is your joint .. nice bar , friendly service albeit young and learning their craft , yet honestly trying to make folks happy.. highly recommend this place ..

Yelp
Good hardy pub food. Not just "bar" food. Traditional favorites like meatloaf, great sandwiches and fish. Always pleasant service.

Ktbeach W.

Yelp
The ambience was a a little over crowded. The service was on point. The burger I ordered was just okay. I most likely will be back to give it a second try.

Jerry K.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar with 10oz hamburgers cooked at the grill. Good prices, plenty of TV's. What a great place!

Bob J.

Yelp
I was afraid, I'll admit it. I've been coming here for years, almost since they opened. Alas, I moved away. I would stop In from time to time. The burgers were always THE BEST! About 2 years ago I stopped in, and the burger was okay. Last year I stopped in and they were closed. They had been sold! Would I lose my favorite go to burger bar? Alas, I was pleasantly surprised. The bar at noon had plenty of seats, and I got worried. But now I guess they are a hidden gem. Not only was this burger good, but it's the best I've had in a LONG time. And that's saying a lot! And to boot, they left the place mostly unchanged. Needlessly to say, I will be traveling here more frequently to enjoy this gem of a tavern, and you should too. Thank you new owners for saving this gem!

John S.

Yelp
Going there for years. Great variety of food and top quality also. Service is always superb

Marc L.

Yelp
Always a go to spot when in point pleasant! They are know for their burgers and they don't disappoint. Nice charcoal flavor served with some chips, coleslaw and a pickle.

Fazio D.

Yelp
The burgers are good we'll priced fresh and good where you can eat them rare if you like that, I got the burgers a few times and it's never consistent which is important, sometimes it's better than other times but I never got a bad burger there, there burgers are good Medium Rare to Medium very juicy and tasty

Wayne R.

Yelp
Sadly, these days, nothing gets better. Exceptions need to be both noted and celebrated. Today I celebrate the continuation of Frankie's. It's like it used to be only with lines on the parking spots. The burger continues to be one of the best in the shore-area. The renovation was done with a light but knowing hand, and the interior is both the same and a bit nicer. My thanks to the management group who did what needed to be done and left the good parts alone.

Jenni L.

Yelp
Tried the grilled chicken tenders this time and I definitely have a new favorite menu item. The tenders were so juicy and delicious and the peanut sauce on the side is so yummy and different than your average honey mustard side. Soooo good!! 10/10

Brian F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere excellent service at the bar. If you're not a bar person, sit at the table. But the fun is at the bar. Food is top shelf and I have been coming to Frankie's for 20 years. Happy hour 12 to 6 pm. Very nice place.

Kerri S.

Yelp
Frankie USED to have the best burger but new management trying to save money has changed the meat and size of their burgers, such a disappointment what a loss of an old school tradition.

Ric T.

Yelp
This is your typical local all year long borderline dive bar. I say that in a positive way, please. The bar area is usually packed and during happy hour , a buffet is put out, not like the ones I used to see, but at any rate it's a buffet, period. I came in with my friend and we both ordered 10 oz burgers. Rachel served them with chips, cole slaw and pickles. Excellent. No new craft beer varieties. I feel the decor needs a re-do. I have been for dinner in the past. Just plain pub food.

Lila K.

Yelp
The only pleasant thing about this experience was our waitress and the pepsis. My friend got food poisoning from their chicken strips, and if you want to have a good night, don't order the chili. My friend threw up 4 times and is still feeling unwell. After realizing she had gotten food poisoning, I ripped apart the chicken strips we had packed to bring home, and it was slimy inside. If I could give it less than one star I would. Never again.

Roseann C.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and food is very good! Service and price is good also. Great place to meet friends.

GMom D.

Yelp
Wanted to like this place never got the chance. Upon arrival was packed inside and out only one hour in after open. While that sounds like a good thing lol however waiting inside not so much. Very small jam packed with people no where to wait or sit- extremely loud and hostess was extremely frazzled and borderline rude but with good reason as the places was just off the hook inside. Perhaps not just our kind of place would have liked to tried the food tho and maybe another time but inside was also dark kind of dreary and the closeness of it all in todays times was a real turn off so I doubt it lol. Maybe takeout one day - some tables outside would be a nice touch if someone cleaned up the back entrance lol.

Yelp
Frankie's bar and Grill the place used to be one of the best in town with Frankie sold it it went downhill. I ordered a turkey club $20 for a turkey club. I don't mind paying OK came with chips and he came with bacon that was that was already pre-cooked and Nicole was terrible anyway to get $20 for that. Is there really a shift that she really showed him down you know you have liquor he supposed to make the food reasonable they want it to one everything that I want the liquor and food place in the food is disgusting since he sold it but me on onFrankie's bar and Grill the place used to be one of the best in town when Frankie sold it it went downhill. Yelp
Frankie's is a nice restaurant/pub in downtown Point Pleasant Beach. We came in for lunch on the day of the Seafood Festival so it was very crowded but our party of 3 was seated within 10 minutes. They had a few specials, including a cheesesteak which I asked about because it was 2:30 and waitress said they had so I ordered it. Went to bathroom and came back to see a menu in front of me and my friends telling me nope, they're all out. That somewhat rubbed me the wrong way but I ordered a Kobe burger on special instead. The Kobe burger tasted and looked just like the other burger that was ordered at my table (as is the case with almost all "Kobe" beef on restaurant menus). It was pretty juicy and cooked medium rare as I requested, the fries were good too. We got a few beers and the check was reasonable for a burger and 2 beers per person. One thing that was kinda gross was the vent above our table was dripping and dripped on my girlfriend three times. The last time right on her chicken sandwich, luckily she was done but that's pretty gross and part of the reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4. Overall, I'd return for a sandwich and a beer when I'm in the area.

Chad V.

Yelp
This wasn't my first visit here and definitely won't be my last. This burger was quite delicious and the bacon was perfectly cooked with nicely melted cheese. Add a side of BBQ sauce and you have perfection on a plate!

Bebe G.

Yelp
Every time I come home I have to go to Frankie's. Massive Jersey portions, pork roll, great bar

Andrea N.

Yelp
Frankie's has been around 30+ years and I've been coming here since I was a little kid, so they've gotta be doing something right. Their bleu cheese burger is unmatched in the area. They specialize in those big pub burgers on hard rolls, which are usually too big for me, but these are phenomenal. They also have awesome nachos, which can be ordered in a half size (that is still gigantic and more than enough for 2-3 people). Per their website, they get fresh seafood, chopped meat, and produce delivered daily, and it shows. Steaks are hand cut daily by the chef. All the food portions are gigantic. This is also one of my favorite places to come for a salad, yes, salad. They are huge and always fresh! My sister has ordered the penne vodka on every visit for the past 15+ years, which is also great. The atmosphere is that of a cozy saloon. I love to visit around the holidays because they always decorate and have twinkle lights and garland strung around. Beware however that they get jam packed during peak times and it's not uncommon to wait, and during those times service can feel a bit rushed and impersonal. Also, part of the charm of Frankie's is that it feels like a dark old saloon, however it is in need of some upgrades. The chairs at the tables are somewhat flimsy, and the place could use an overall dusting. Still, it's a great place, especially if you go during an off peak time!

Chris H.

Yelp
Great place for bar food and drinks in a casual setting. Service is friendly and attentive.

Michele F.

Yelp
Disappointed. New menu is limited in comparison to the original menu. Calamari appetizer tossed with lettuce to make it appear bigger. No specials available. Two items wrong in my order. Was excited about the reopening. Now would think twice about going back.

Carmella V.

Yelp
It started good - friendly hostesses and we were seated right away even if we were stuffed in a corner of a room with no one else in it. The server came over right away and that's where it went downhill for me. I asked if there were specials and he started ratting something off which I then noticed was on the wall because he was looking at it. I asked about the pierogi special that came with kielbasa. I said what kind of pierogi and he said they are frozen. Not what I meant so I elaborated and then was told they are mashed potato. Ok so then I ask if I can just get pierogi without kielbasa because I am a vegetarian. He said he would ask. I said ok ask about the price too and he said they won't lower the price if I don't get kielbasa because everything is already portioned. Really? Ok whatever. I said forget it. So then the hostess brings a table in and seats them right next to us. The whole room is open and she puts them right next to us? Then she brings another coulpe in and puts them right behind us. All in all the place is dark and dreary, food is mediocre, they lack decent vegetarian options and our particular server was just irritating. It wasn't the first time we were here but it was definitely the last.

Sara S.

Yelp
My family and I visited Frankie's on Saturday. I really enjoyed our experience. Our waiter Dean was outstanding with making sure we were well taken care of. Our children were so entertained by him. The food was good but the service was a 5 star. Will definitely be back and will request Dean as our waiter. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Brittany M.

Yelp
This place is all about the total experience! If you are able to find a seat at the bar (which is rare to come by), snag it! You'll love being entertained by the grill in the center where you can watch burgers, dogs and bacon transform into their final products. There's a great, energetic vibe surrounding the bar and plenty of TVs to keep you entertained if you are dining alone. Food-wise, my favorites were the grilled buffalo chicken tenders and the open faced tuna melt. Dont' judge that they serve most grill plates with ruffle potato chips straight out of the bag - it's just who they are. They also have a great selection of draft and craft beers as well as wines and cocktails. Frankie's is a place where you can come to sit, socialize, take your time and be comfortable without feeling rushed. They also play a great selection of jams on Friday night :)

Deborah F.

Yelp
We had a great time. The food was terrific and we had Amy as our server. She was wonderful. We are in NJ for the week and will come back!

Pete R.

Yelp
Great family spot. We are long time customers here and at other place Rods. Fireplaces on a Sunday in the winter makes thIs place doubly good.

Erik P.

Yelp
So we were expecting the normal menu and didn't get it. It has always been good bar food and great with kids. Simple burger menu with a few entrees. They really need to update the website to reflect the limited menu. Food was overall good.

Nick M.

Yelp
I just had an awesome burger - the Canadian burger it was really big and really good didn't even need ketchup. I ordered it without the cheese because I like it that way and regarding the place was nice atmosphere having an old brownstone New York City look.

CJ O.

Yelp
First off, I cracked up at the reviewer who was complaining there was no pie crust with their Shepherd's Pie. You clearly don't know what a Shepherd's Pie is and need your review revoked because that was the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Great spot for some of the best American/bar styled food in the area. Friendly staff and always a large local presence. Food is very pleasing and almost always cooked to order. Big stand outs are their french onion soup, grilled chicken sandwich, burger selection, and their open faced sandwiches such as the Fast Frankie's Favorite and Jayne's Jawbuster. Beware that this restaurant can get fairly busy on weekend nights and definitely during the summer. Plan accordingly or plan on waiting a bit for seats. Most of their open faced meals and entrees serve a lot of food so prepare to have some leftovers when you leave. Also I prefer when my burgers are cooked at the bar, not sure why, but always seem to be better for my tastes. Don't forget to say you want fries with your meal otherwise you'll be getting potato chips.

Billy R.

Yelp
Friendly greeting by Sean the barman. Provided menu and I told him I was waiting for wife and sister in law. Asked for a spicy Bloody Mary with a splash of Guiness. It was great. Ladies arrived and we three ordered hamburgers. Expertly cooked by the Grill Lady, Regrettably I didn't get her name. We opted for French fires and onion rings as sides and weren't disappointed. Thank you Sean and Grill Lady for awesome food, service and a nice afternoon. We will return

Tess M.

Yelp
The perfect spot to go to for amazing burgers, and French onion soup! Great for families.... my 16 month old has a blast watching everyone moving around and liked watching them make the burgers... tends to get a little busy around lunch and dinner time (which is to be expected), but we've never had to wait long for a table. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for some good food

J J.

Yelp
Terrible. Summer 2021 at the Jersey Shore and took mom here for her 70th birthday. We checked out the menu online, however, when we got there, TOTALLY different menu. Server said "because of COVID." No pasta. One fish dish. Hardly anything on the menu. Food was terrible. The "fillet mignon and cheese" sandwich was a grizzled, couple of days old, overcooked hockey puck on a burger bun with bright orange slice of cheese on it. Gross. And they hit you $22.95 for that P.O.S. Everything else was greasy, tasteless (unless "grease" is a flavor you like), and overcooked. Please save yourself the disappointment. This was bad, my freinds. Very bad.

Kristin T.

Yelp
The atmosphere is cute and cozy and had a lively bar crowd even for a Monday night. I cannot really comment on the service as our server was being trained by someone else and was understandably shy and nervous. The food itself was not good. The wings were beyond well done, chewy, and extremely dry. The burgers themselves were nothing special for the price and do not even come with fries. My boyfriend and I both ordered medium rare, mine arrived cooked properly and my boyfriend's was a hockey puck. A very disappointing experience.

Traci H.

Yelp
Long time patrons of Frankie's. We're not regulars, but visit pretty often in the off-season. Sometimes with kids, sometimes without. Past few times service has been sketchy. Service not unfriendly, but not warm at all. As I've stated before, tips are commensurate with service. Would it kill servers to at least make a party feel welcome? We will tip better! Also last visit it just felt dirty. Tablecloths and condiments very sticky and the chairs are not conducive to sitting and relaxing for a while. That all being said, the food is usually great and portions are generous. The filet mignon and cheese is my go-to entree since I was a child visiting with my parents (first at Rod's). Always delicious. Tuna melts are another stand-out. Husband and kids always gravitate toward burgers, ruebens or chicken parm. I hope that the management reads the reviews and takes some action on the cleanliness issue and staff attitudes.

Ed S.

Yelp
This place used to be a fun go to place for us until one particular visit. A friend and I were sitting at the bar eating our lunch and enjoying a beer when we witnessed the bartender/cook make a burger patty with his bare hands and after he put it on the grill he then proceeded to pour and serve two beers and took their payment and went back to the grill set up a burger plate by reaching into a large bag of chips and scooping some out and onto the plate. He didn't leave our site the whole time so we were both positive that he did not wash his ha. He was a long time employee and I have not been back since.

Bill W.

Yelp
Often when I read one-star reviews, they are the product of poor service. This one-star review is because of really bad food. We arrived to a half hour wait during peak summer season. Not bad wait time considering. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. That's where the pleasantries end. Our food was bad. Beyond bad. We ordered soup as an appetizer which tasted canned. For our entrees, we ordered the penne vodka, which tasted like Mac-n-cheese with some unflavored canned tomato sauce mixed in. "Tasted" is actually a misnomer because it was tasteless. I understand that ordering Italian based dishes outside of an Italian restaurant is a risk, but this dish wasn't even close to edible. Horrible. So let's talk about something safe...BLT. Our very nice waitress asked whether we wanted white, wheat or pumpernickel toast. We ordered one with white toast and one with wheat. Both were served as white toast (oh well, no biggie). The toast was black it was so burned. When you took a bite, it actually cut the roof of your mouth it was so hard. Complete fail. On one of the most simple culinary tasks in the world...toast. I've never disliked anything that has bacon in it until this meal. Seriously...how do you mess up bacon sandwich. The Kobe burger was great. This was the lone success. It was big and juicy and cooked well. It was also $16 so it was expensive for a burger. This burger gets this restaurant it's lone star and is the only thing I'd order if I came back, which I won't. Go somewhere else

Rosa C.

Yelp
Service sucks. Place is dirty. The Restaurant is always packed, a true local bar. Food is mediocre. Burgers are actually good. If you find yourself here stick to the burgers

MandA R.

Yelp
Frankie's has been one of those places that we have driven by a million times on our way to the beach, always briefly thinking, "hey, we should go there someday." Then the off season comes and we forget. We finally had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy the food and drink. When we walked in the place was PACKED, so we sat at the bar. Service was fairly quick and the beer selection included locally brewed beer. We ordered the Potato Skins, Calamari, Artichoke Dip, and Boneless Wings. Potato Skins were good, but aren't they always? Artichoke Dip was also good, a fair amount of dip and perfect amount of chips to enjoy. Buffalo boneless Wings/chicken tenders were also good. A little too saucy but perfectly spicy. I don't think the blue cheese dressing agreed with me (it was the only thing I ate that no one else touched, and the next day I had a stomach ache). The calamari was unreal in terms of size but mediocre in terms of taste. We got the full size portion for $12 and out came a mountain of Calamari. Seriously, a mountain of it. There was no way 5 of us were going to finish it with all the other apps we ordered too. I didn't love it, but M did. Our waitress wasn't exactly friendly and seemed annoyed once or twice, but I think that's just her personality, so I didn't take too much offense. All in all, a solid A-OK stop.
