Franklin Hall

I’ve been going to Franklin hall for years and always have a great time. Plenty of seating and tv screens. They have long tables for big groups and smaller high tops for smaller groups. Depending on the day, pretty easy to get a drink at the bar with a lot of staff ready to help serve. I love their Christmas decorations they have up this year! It was fun watching a commanders vs eagles game, a lot of good mixing of fans without hostility. They also have great food, some really delicious chicken tenders - more flavor than most bars I’ve gotten tendies from. Recommend for a sports day or a night out!

Great Hangout Spot Franklin Hall is a perfect staple for beer, bar food, and sports. They have great daily specials (half off wing nights, half off burger nights, etc.). The vibe is chill on weeknights and slightly more rowdy during weekend football (where things still feel fun and chill). The buffalo wings are pretty good. They have a nice kick to them, but I wish they came out hotter in temperature and more well done (crispy). Tots were also good with a nice seasoning, but a little too salty. I've also had the smash burger, which was nothing out of this world, but a solid burger on 1/2 off night. Solid bar food, but not sure paying full price for most items are entirely worth it from a food perspective. Overall 8/10 fun place to hang out with actual food and drink specials.

I go here weekly but had a bad experience during my latest visit. Your menu CLEARLY shows the Wings cost $11, yet they charge you $14 instead. The food here is fantastic, especially for bar food, but I was not too pleased to see a totally different price on my bill than on the menu. I only noticed because I peered over the screen when they took my order and saw a $14 charge. This deception seems pretty intentional, because when you go to pay your tab, you just see the final total. If you have two beers and some wings, you probably won’t notice the additional $3. When I asked the bartender why I was charged $14, he explained that boneless wings are $11 and bone-in are $14. Thankfully, he took $3 off my tab because literally nowhere on the menu does it distinguish between the two, but I did have to protest it for him to change it. He claimed they’ve been meaning to change the menu. But I guess for now, they’ll keep ripping people off because the only way to see your complete tab is to pay, then get your receipt, then decide if it’s really worth haggling over $3. I suspect most customers wouldn’t notice or wouldn’t bother. Nevertheless it’s dishonest and disappointing. It’s not about the $3, it’s about the principle. Charge people the price displayed on your menu. Rant over; I’ll be back next week anyways…

I recently hosted my 30th birthday party here and I am so happy I decided to host at Franklin Hall. Everything was already set up (food, etc.) when I arrived a little early, and the restaurant/bar staff were great and made sure we had everything we needed. The food/drinks/Franklin Hall energy was so fun, that some of my friends commented that they are thinking of hosting events there in the future. I highly recommend renting out the space for events here!

Went there to watch football with friends. One of our friends has significant food allergies and after clarifying with the food staff 3 times she ordered food. She was reassured that there would be no issues but that was not true once she started eating. She ended up finishing the night using an EpiPen and going to the hospital. Wildly unprofessional food staff and just an unacceptable sequence of events. Staff members should know simple items like this that put people at risk.

First time going here for my friends birthday party and it was decent. You need to have a either a negative Covid-19 test within the past 72 hours or been vaccinated to enter. It’s a huge hall / sports bar from my perspective. I think my friends enjoyed their drinks more than the food. They said the nachos were cold, chicken sausage was dry and the burger was basic. Basically they said don’t come here to eat a good meal. It’s a place you mainly drink. You have been warned. They do have water available for no drinking folks like myself as well. I liked the bar decor personally because it was Christmas festive and tasteful. Overall, it’s an okay spot to hangout with friends.

Franklin Hall is the perfect place to host a large event in DC! We had such a hard time finding a private place for a big group on a Friday night and are so grateful to have found Franklin Hall. We hosted about 150 guests for welcome drinks for our wedding weekend and it was perfect. Nate helped us figure out the best options for our party and all the staff were lovely and accommodating during the entire event. All our guests were raving about the event all weekend.

I have been going to the bar to meet up with friends for years and I will say Mark is a great bartender. I was there recently and went up to an open section of the bar to grab a drink and the bartender after I said “hi”, the bartender said “yea” staring down at the payment system. I then asked him to close out my tab after ordering a drink and he simply walked away. I said “sir” and did not care to engage. I had to have a female bartender assist me. To be clear, this was not Mark and he must be somewhat new in the last year or so (African American male shorter than Mark). I then was bumped by a patron by the seat I was hovering over who sat down and got in my face and said, “you bumped into me as you were walking by and this is my seat” when I was simply hovering over to grab a light beer. He then proceeded to mock me by name and I felt the need to take the high road. What happened to the chill vibe and welcoming service of this place? How hard is it to train your employees to say hi? My friends were at Ivy and Coney before and had much better service and atmosphere - and I felt safe. I will reconsider if I go back there again.

Drink is decent, service and lightning perfect for hang out with friends and partner on weekend and small party. Many option to choose for.

We stumbled upon Franklin Hall during a recent trip and were not disappointed in our finding. I have fond dreams about the Brussel Sprouts and my partner raved about beer brat. The service was great, quick yet not rushed and everyone was so nice. The atmosphere was lively yet not rowdy great for a fun afternoon or evening out.

A fun place to go as a couple or in a large group or even families.. great sports bar, plenty of choices to choose from. The best part is the serving is amazing. The food is delicious. Would definitely recommend

This was a wonderful place to go with family (adults) after a wonderful dinner nearby. We wanted to frequent a lively place where we could also spend quality time together playing pool and having a few brews. We found it and we had a great time. Franklin Hall occupies the footprint of a previous huge commercial laundry facility that existed when I lived in DC back over a decade ago. As a result, the place is huge and they recently expanded. The two sides have their own full bar and the "old" part has the food service with dining tables and bar. The "new" side has a bar, pool tables, and a large sitting area. The place is just HUGE. We entered and they were having live music and an interview with locally famous people surrounded by a very friendly audience. We admired the beer menu, which contained a large selection of local microbrews as well as national brews. I had the Franklin Hall IPA that was shipped from Chicago. It was delightful. We then entered the next side with the pool tables. Although well frequented, it was spacious enough for conversation. Many groups, including sports teams, were having a great time, enjoying brews and having lively conversations. The salient feature of the venue - besides the brews - is just what a fun, and inclusive place it is. Every race, ethnicity and orientation was present. With a huge rainbow flag at one end. We had a superb time.

My wife and I were looking for a nice bar and grill to stop at while we were on vacation. Luckily, we happened across this gem. The atmosphere was very nice and not as loud as you would expect a sports bar to be. Additionally, the food and drinks were delicious and the servers were great. This place is a must stop if you are ever in this area. Highly recommend.

I came here with a group of friends on a weeknight and there was already a pretty good size crowd. Lots of options on the menu which was good for sharing. Food was tasty and there were lots of drink choices. It's a beer hall so you have the staples. Service was fast and staffs were friendly. Would visit again.

I was in town for a conference and checked out Franklin Hall while I was there. Good place to grab some drinks and pub food. The service was good and there was a nice selection of different beers on tap. I would come back here next time I was in town.

My wife and I wanted a quick drink and Franklin Hall was a good place to get quick eats in DC. The drinks and service were good. I tried the Jack Frost and my hubby got Manor Hill with Meat Lovers flatbreads. We loved the fun ambiance and the interesting historical architecture.

While visiting the area, we made an last minute stop at Franklin Hall and I'm glad we did. The appetizers are amazing - it was hard to pick just one so we had the nachos and the cauliflower. Both were served promptly and were really tasty! Our waiter was happy to tell us about the history of the building and even some fun stories about it's renovation. There is a large choice of IPA and lager on tap for most any taste. We were tempted by the outdoor seating area though the day we were there was breezy so we opted for inside. I love repurposed old buildings and the interior space is well done.

4 stars. Came here to celebrate my partner's coworker's birthday. It was a great place to watch some NBA finals, and you were able to tell who was rooting for who -- it got really loud whenever a 3-pointer was made! Lots of TVs with sports going on, so if you're a sports fan, this is the place for you: it is a hype vibe, pretty loud, and a place to be very social. In terms of service, we waited about 15-20 minutes for food which was understandable since it was a Friday night. I was able to try the grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots. It was amazing! The brioche bun was sweet and the chicken was flavorful. The tots with mumbo sauce were perfect. Tots crispy to perfection and mumbo sauce was kind of like a mix of ketchup with a tangy aftertaste. Will only come back if I'm in the area or invited out, but food and ambiance was a nice experience!

This is an awesome place to meet up with friends. The atmosphere is lively and fun. The waiters are really attentive and nice. The menu has a good variety of things to choose from. We had a great time and will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

If you know me, you know I love Franklin Hall - they can't be beat for a game day or a cheap espresso martini (and for a sports bar they are pretty damn goood) + my friends enjoyed some of their bar food while we watched the Ravens game last Sunday

We had a group of friends meet up here on a Saturday evening. The space is huge and can accommodate most party sizes. They have large picnic style tables. They have a great selection of beers and other drinks. We had some bar snacks, too. The Mac and cheese bites were awesome! The bar is in a convenient location for access to 14th Street. I would definitely come back here for another group event.

This is my new favorite place. They have great events and the Harry potter trivia last week was my favorite. They have a great rewards program that gives you money off your order which adds up quickly. It is a really cool building and the food is great so I recommend checking it out

This is a good place. My wife and I came here with her alumni group. The food is limited but decent and the beer selection is quite good. The staff is friendly as well and gave out beer samples.

I was visiting family and they took me to Franklin Hall and I was impressed with the entire vibe , the ambiance was great , food and drinks would definitely recommend and will surely visit again. The service was good and the wait staff was attentive and I had a great time .

My my my! What a lovey establishment. The kind employees really bring this place to life. Mark served fine, cold beverages. Chris met us with warm embrace, and made a cocktail that blew my mind. Christmas decorations were on point. I would recommend this place to a close friend or distant enemy. 5/5!

Visited while in the city, cute place, good service. Decent sized food and drink menu and very reasonably priced (especially for being in the city!!) crispy chicken wings and the smash burger were awesome. Will definitely be back again! Ohh, and can't go wrong with the Hazy Little Thing IPA!!!!

I've been to Franklin Hall several times and they have great events, OK service, and subpar food. I recently went for trivia there for the first time with several friends and enjoyed the event. I split a soft pretzel with a friend, which took a while to come. The cheese whiz was gross and the mustard not great. I've also had the mozzarella sticks there, which were OK but tasted like they came out of a package. Overall, Franklin Hall is worth coming for events but get your food and beverages elsewhere.

After visiting Franklin Hall this past Saturday, I can say that they have redeemed themselves in customer service. My friends and I did not have the best experience the first time we went there, but had a blast this past time. The bartenders were absolutely friendly and the drinks were delicious. We were there to watch our college hockey team win the NCAA championship and it was a great place to do so! Loved the vibe of the picnic style tables and the food was delicious as well. Franklin Hall definitely made a comeback and we will be back!

checked this place out online and after seeing the photos and the daily specials, I knew it had to be one of our stops while on vacation. we went on a Thursday and all pool and board games were free, plus there were awesome drink specials. definitely recommend.

I had a great time visiting Franklin Hall while I was in town with friends recently! It's big inside which is nice because we didn't feel crowded and could branch out and mingle freely. Aside from the fact that I had a good time and have no complaints, I'm giving FH 5 stars because I left my beloved jacket there on my wild night out and the next day when I was anxious to get it back, I emailed them since they weren't open yet and Nate got back to me promptly letting me know they had it there waiting for me! That is great customer service--I was very impressed with the prompt response considering they weren't even open at the time! Yay!!! I'm a fan. And thanks again Nate!!! Xoxo, Is this thing on?

This is a great space for big sports games!! First large crowd and is always a good time

I've really come to appreciate this spot as my go-to local bar. It's perfect for game nights with its abundance of screens, ensuring you won't miss any action. Additionally, the pool tables and a wide selection of board games add to the fun atmosphere. They host Trivia nights on Mondays and Tuesdays, adding a nice twist to the start of the week. What makes this place stand out is the familiar and welcoming vibe - the staff, especially Ben and Marc, always make you feel recognized and valued. It's an ideal venue for gathering with friends for a laid-back and enjoyable evening.

Great place. Tons of young people. Good beer and drinks. Efficient staff. Lots of wood. It was good for us for drinking and talking to each other. Helped me and my old friend from back home / college catch up and I become friends with her boyfriend. Great place to facilitate those moments.

Pretty big open bar, multi-purpose eatery, with a few games set-up. I wouldn't say this is a typical NW bar. But, it does carry the trends of the other newer establishments. The place is new Howard U's campus and you get the vibe from the clientele that it is an under 40 crowd. But, it's a nice space with bench tables, wood interior, a nice paired down food menu. With a few surprises. The drinks are good, and they have their daily specials. The cocktails were the best pairing. I can tell it gets busy up in there.

Came for a bday party and it was the perfect location. It's a bar but with games and good energy. Our Bartender Michael gave us great food recommendations and brought the good vibes. Definitely coming back!

I really like this place but unfortunately, they are the type of bar that likes to upcharge customers and hope they don't notice. I ordered two vodka sprites, indicating I wanted rail liquor, but noticed the bartender pouring Tito's. Of course he said that was extra. If people ask for a liquor + chaser as a mixed drink, you know they want rail!! Come on.

Came here on Friday night. We had so much fun! It's a great place for groups! Happy hour is not half bad and you no longer required to wear a face mask, as long as you are vaxed. They also have a kitchen. The food was coming out quick. We ordered wings, fries, pretzel balls, fried Mac and cheese. Everything g was great (typical bar food). The wings had a good spicy flavor. I'm sure they can make bbq wings too if you prefer sweet. The service at the bar was excellent. The bartenders are quick in taking orders and pouring up the drinks. They have a full bar. Most of the people I was with thought they were only going to have beer but they have anything and everything. I enjoyed the Sangria but my favorite was the Berry Lemonade. Both of those are on tap. Street parking. Overall. Highly recommended.

Had an incredible weekend at Franklin Hall. Stopped in to catch up with friends, but stayed for the vibe. Had an amazing an attentive bartender, Ben, who not only checked in but was such a great guy to chat with! My drinks were tasty and great crowd. I'll be back.

Good food, drinks, and overall vibes. However, be aware of their grumpy bartender (short little guy with greased back hair and always wearing a hat). He is inconvenienced by anything you order and will act like you ordering a beer is the most annoying thing in the world. Overall, he's just generally a sour pickle. Avoid him at all costs. Otherwise, Franklin Hall is amazing, especially for watching sports or trivia. Christmas decorations are a plus.

Food is great for bar food. However, the last 3 orders (Uber and in-person) I've ordered extra buffalo sauce and each time it was in person. I asked twice in-person if it was included and they said yes. I should have taken each item out to check. I paid for all those sauces! They didn't even give me a receipt so I can show it next time - which is what they told me over the phone. 2 star because the food IS delicious but kitchen staff sucks! Is the buffalo sauce gold?? I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!

BARTENDER MICHAEL is 10/10 go see him he makes franklin hall have even better vibes. He made me the most delicious autumn spritz and has immaculate vibes.
