Franklin Tap

They only offer high top tables. After sitting on the chairs for an hour your ass really starts to be uncomfortable. They do have regular tables outside. I loved their cider options. I had a 2 Towns pineapple cider and an Original Sin pear cider. Both were really good. I also got their steak wrap with fries. It was really good. They have Coke products. Our waitress was great. We never had an empty drink. She was friendly and accommodating. They do have a lot of food and drink options. They also have a free shuttle to all Bears home games. They also have weekend brunch. Great place to watch a game and have a good bite to eat.

This place is a cute place for lunch. The service was great! There is a bee hive somewhere outside. The people sitting outside kept swatting bees away and I had to use one of the menus to unalive 3 bees! So, don’t sit outside and don’t sit near a window! Would definitely come back! Menu looks great!

Came on a recommendation; must concur it's a fine place! We had the 'happy hour' $12 cheeseburger special, so I expected a modest one...but it was a half pound patty! A million beers; packed with a young afterwork crowd and sports on multiple TVs so quite loud for a Tuesday. Will be back!

Food and service are good, but as a foreign visitor is frustrating that the restaurant is not sharing the wifi with customers. They have it but they refuses to share it.

A pub on the side of Willis Tower, this is the only address to remember. The food is good, the beers are to die for and the staff is super friendly. The sporting atmosphere is cool, and both the clientele and the waiters are young and open-minded.

Cool spot for local conversation that has a huge beer list in the Loop’s business district. They were even willing to put on the Red Wings game for me!

Service was super friendly and fast. Everything we had to eat was delicious. The drinks were decent except for the spicy margarita. I love spicy margs and this one missed the mark. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. This a good spot for delicious bar food and a few drinks. Try the Buffalo Chicken rolls!

As a visitor to Chicago, it was apparent even to me this is a regular locals meeting place, and with good reason. The rotating tap had some really good stuff to choose from and a good variety. Wait staff was attentive and friendly, crowd had a good vibe, ages were really diverse which to me highlights a great atmosphere that draws everybody. Didn't have the opportunity to try the food but I'd come back!

Franklin's Tap in Chicago is the perfect spot for a chill pre-night out vibe. It has that laid-back sports bar feel with awesome food and drink options. The service was quick and friendly--no wait, which is always a win! I had a smoky, refreshing mango mescal cocktail, while my friend enjoyed a berry drink that was the perfect sweet-savory combo. We shared the southwestern chicken rolls, which were hot, delicious, and came with a killer dipping sauce. Other appetizers like the buffalo chicken sliders and black bean quesadillas also caught my eye--definitely on the list for next time. Great drinks, great food, and fast service--Franklin's Tap is a solid choice to kick off any night!

Good happy hour spent here! Cheese curds & quesadilla were my favorite apps. Nice drink list & several mock tails. Good service, casual restaurant.

The "Tap" reminded me of a typical Midtown Manhattan bar. Not so much a community but a place to knock back a few after work while waiting for the train. A nice selection of beer: a Dovetail Brewery Vienna Lager (him), Guinness (her), and Pretzel Sticks (both), with tap-obstructed views of the Chiefs beating the Ravens (27-20).

Been to Franklin Tap for a couple work happy hours, but finally came for lunch and was thoroughly surprised by the food! I ordered the crispy chicken wrap with fries, which was really good! Restaurant also has a fairly large beer list. Patio and indoor space are both nice and the service is always accommodating to large groups.

This place is awesome for lunch time, $12 burger and fry special after 4 is great and their burgers are incredibly good. I would recommend thid place to any on their lunch break or for a nice dinner. Great beer selection too. Get in here

Good hangout especially for workers in The Loop. It's been around for awhile, so it's one of the older places since these change all the time it seems. The Franklin Tap is of course located on that street across from the Sears Tower. A lot of beers to choose from, however most of these aren't on tap but rather in bottles and cans. Prices are pretty high especially on the food but not crazy high for this area to be honest. As the name implies, it's a place to get beers. It has quite a lot. Though most of these aren't on tap. Lots from local craft breweries. There's some that are on special. It's about $8 for a typical pint. Quite a lot to charge to be sure. As for the food, even though it was expensive it was good. It's about $14 for the Roasted Sweet Potato And Kale Salad. This is one of the options for vegetarians. Get it vegan by substituting for the honey mustard dressing. This also has avocado, red onions, roasted grape tomatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, and roasted walnuts. Lots of things are roasted on it. The price was okay considering there was a lot. Even though it's mostly known for beers, there's lots of liquors and cocktails. It can make the good seem like an afterthought, but it shouldn't be because most of it's pretty good to be honest. There's meaty things like burgers and wings, and a few things for vegans and vegetarians.

Food was very good and the beer selection was excellent. Staff was very attentive and helpful when it came to choosing a beer.

Found this local bar, close to where we were staying, to watch some sports. At first, everything seemed fine, they provided us menus, sat us to a table, and that was the last time someone helped or talked to us. We wanted to order drinks, but no one came to ask us if we wanted anything. So then I figured we have to go to the bar to order drinks. The first guy I talked to at the bar said hi, but then said, "Oh, he can help you." Not sure why, he wasn't busy either. I took our drinks back to our table. Later I noticed another group got seated and someone came to bring them food and drinks. Another worker passed by to even clean the table next to us, but none of them made eye contact with us. I was wondering why no one came to see if we needed anything, food, drinks, anything. It's not like they were busy. In fact, there were two workers sitting at the front and one was just on his phone.

We found this spot while waiting on our Skydeck appointment as it was just a short walk away for a quick sip! They had great specials on the drinks and the service was superb (Ashley). We had the Mimosa ($5) and an nice IPA (old Irving...I think $7). The drinks were good and cheap so we came back and enjoyed more sips and the outside patio area.

Food was good for a bar spot, service was great and the beer was better! We were looking for a spot with a variety of local beers and this was perfect! Cauliflower wings were the best ones I've ever had!

Came here for happy hour with a friend on a Friday. Not a whole lot to say; it's in a good location and easy enough to find. Their happy hour specials were nice, we both got a pumpkin beer (this was in the fall, so pumpkin beers were seasonally-appropriate). We also got the pretzels and cheese curds to split, both were good though maybe a little on the small side for sharing. Service was good, our server checked in on us as needed for refills and was clear about communicating when her shift was done and she was handing us off to someone else (which I have no issue with). The ambiance is fine, it's your standard tap/bar décor, so nothing special but nothing to complain about. I'd be back for another happy hour.

Franklin Tap is a classic Happy Hour destination in Chicago Loop. All Day specials daily. Solid selection of beer, wine, cider, & cocktails. Enjoyed local Virtue Cider Michigan Cherry Buffalo cauliflower was a huge portion and made it feel worth the $15. Attentive service, hopping but can still have a conversation without shouting to hear each other.

I am not a picky person. This place needs a new chef, or back of the house. I tried this place because there was a deal on Uber eats. I ordered the blackened Chicken sandwich with tater tots. The tater tots weren't even cooked. Two were still frozen. The sandwich was covered in oil/butter, but not grilled, or put on a skillet. I had to heat up my own skillet, and correct what they did wrong. There was ZERO flavor on the sandwich. I have never been so grossed out ordering from an establishment. It makes sense why their ratings are so low. I will NEVER order from this hell hole again. Even the packaging was hideous. It came in a a sloppy, oily cheap plastic bag.

Standard place to get drinks. Didn't try to get food. I got two hazy ipas from draft and they were good. Hey have Guinness! Split the G is you happen to get a Guinness

Run away! Took a group of work colleagues for a work lunch. All of us over 35. Was told all of us needed to show IDs or leave, even if we were just having lunch and not ordering alcohol. Tried to ask their customer service later, was told it was all my fault, they "clearly" list this requirement on their websites / emails (they don't). I don't know what trouble this place is in with the police for serving underage customers, but no thanks on taking it out on paying lunch customers who only wanted an iced tea and a sandwich.

I visit Franklin Tap often and I'm always more than satisfied with the food and service so I decided to have my 80th Birthday Celebration there and was so happy that I did. Melissa was our waitress and service could not possibly have been better. Food was excellent and additional staff was attentive and friendly. All my guests (30) had a wonderful time and were totally impressed with food and service.

Good pub food at a descent price. There is a good selection of rotating beers on tap as well as a full bar. The walls are lined with the taps of beers that have previously been served there. The service can be hit or miss

Tonight I left a modest 10% tip that was in line with the service i received. I proceeded to be chased down and berated in the middle of the street for not tipping enough. whomever is in charge here has a disgusting sense of entitlement and a misconstrued sense of power. Tipping is and always will be optional...if you feel that your employee should be paid more...then pay them more. Do not proceed to insult me In front of my friends and don't deny my money after you chase me down in the street and convince me to give more......the service was not good........I've worked downtown for 10 years....don't know if I will be back or recommend

Great service and fantastic beer selection. Our server Jacob was great! Buffalo chicken, sliders were fantastic and I had the chicken quesadillas which were better than most! Stop in!

This is the hang out spot for the financial district. Most of their bartenders and servers are cool, but yesterday their waitress decided to put a mandatory tip charge of 20% on the bill even if it was a party 2. So that way she could collect write in and cash tips, which was very dishonest. Otherwise the food and drinks were excellent. It seems like you have to sit at the bar for the best service here.

Seems like more of an after work place to relax but went on a Saturday and the atmosphere was nice, pretty quiet and the staff was great. Food was great too!

Great food and great service!! I've been to many places around the city and this one has some of the best food and drinks! The burger is amazing and wings are spectacular!

We looked for a place that provided a shuttle to Soldier Field and ended up at Franklin Tap. The food was good, the portions were plentiful and the service was good considering how busy they were. Someone came around and explained how the shuttle worked which was great since we were first timers! The shuttle ride was 15-20 there and maybe a 10 min walk to the stadium. We opted to walk back as we left in the 4th quarter and it was about a 28 min walk back. Not bad and no issues getting out because it's right off the highway so traffic was minimal. We'd definitely go there again next time we're in town.

Got takeout from here. The Mac and cheese honestly didn't really taste like anything but I liked the breadcrumbs on top. The soup of the day was good which was a garlic chive potato soup. It was also pretty big for being the "cup" size. The vibes seemed fun after work and I definitely wanna check it out for a happy hour

Severely overpriced food with service that differs each time you go. I admit, the food is great, especially the cheese curds but it's not anything particularly unique that justifies the price. I'll continue to come here for as long as I work nearby since we have happy hours and get togethers here, but wouldn't come back by personal choice over other restaurants otherwise unless they lowered their prices by a few dollars.

Those elote cheese bites!! Yummmmmm. Large beer selection, though the beers on top seemed limited. We had no problem finding seats and the staff were kind. I think my only problem is that it wasn't super busy, but our waitress really didn't come over to us at all. We had to flag her down quite a few times. That said, we weren't really in a rush and overall everything we ordered was good. Nice place not too far from the train station!

We stopped in on Friday for dinner. Ambiance was nice. Bar tender was great, not too pushy. Excellent drink selection. Food was really really good. A lot of healthy options. I was really impressed. I got a salad, Thai chili salmon sandwich and sweet potatoe fries. All was really fresh. I also got a IPA. I believe it was the Juice or something like that. Really good as well.

Excellently food, service, and beers. This was a great find... saw it while running the Shamrock Shuffle 8K and decided to try it for dinner... we were not disappointed.

Met up for going away party. They set aside a couple tables and checked in on us regularly. Great environment. Nice bathrooms.

That's a cozy bar in a good area of downtown. If you're not expecting anything fancy or special it's a good spot to go to to grab a beer and a burger.

Average burger bar, people where nice good service and burgers where tasty. Went for a Kate lunch and wasn't crowded so was nice having place almost to ourselves

A charming place and friendly staff. The bartender can Sign, really Sign. Very Impressive. The beer list is IPA heavy, and the food comes quickly. Be forewarned; do not over serve yourself. Easy to do in these confines, and know your train schedule. Convenient to the Loop and Public Transportation. Have fun, but be careful.

Food always amazing and usually really quick lunchtime service for those work lunches. Prices have increased quite a bit since pandemic though!

I came here for a few happy hour drinks with a friend of mine. The Franklin Tap is located right near my office and in the area of union station and several CTA stops. We ordered cheese curds and I had a couple of the signature drinks. This place has your standard fare - it's pub food and drinks. For their location in the city - the price is good. Very reasonable. The service was good too. It is your average happy hour event - lots of employees from businesses in the area. I will most likely go back for another happy hour.

Stopped in for a quick lunch at about 11:45 am on a Thursday as Franklin Tap is conveniently located around the corner from our office. Upon entering, our party of six was told by the hostess that IDs would be required in order for us to stay (our group ranged in age from 29 to 57). One of our party had left her ID at her desk, and we told the hostess that we were not planning on drinking, so she reluctantly seated us. Once seated, our server went around the table and demanded that we each produce an ID and when he got to the person who had forgot her ID, I calmly told him that I could vouch for the fact that she was 29, and that none of us were planning to drink. He told us he'd have to check with his manager, so left, came back and said, "my manager told me she has to leave..". Well, we decided to all leave, and I was able to find the manager on our way out (kinda gutless that he didn't come to the table himself to explain the policy).. as I started to question him about giving up a six person lunch tab, he rudely told me "we don't break the law here." When I questioned why there was a family of four with two kids below 10 eating, he said "well they are obviously with their parents..". Needless to say, we walked three blocks to Just Toasted, and had a nice lunch, no IDs required. Just Toasted is a bar/restaurant similar to Franklin Tap, so I suppose they are either law breakers, or perhaps they have a different liquor license. Anyhoo, our experience at Franklin Tap was not memorable, and the manager on duty presented himself as a gutless d-bag. Not sure if this place has gotten in trouble for serving underage patrons, but if that's the case, yet another reason not to patronize this place. We won't be back...

Loved this place. Rachel was our server. She was totally fine with us wanting to move tables. I had the Franklin Burger, the Barrel-aged beer, and a 5oz Funk Factory sour. They were all very tasty but the burger was outstanding. The outside chairs are not the best, but everything else made up for that

Antonio was amazing! This place provided some of the best customer service ever. We hosted our wedding afterparty here and Franklin Tap was incredible. Sarah, the Franklin Tap coordinator, was extremely helpful and I look forward to coming back! If I could leave 10 stars I would!

Decided to have lunch from a local spot near my workplace. I ordered the turkey burger to go w/a side of fries. Got back to my office (which is across the street) and noticed the fries were dark (as if they sat in grease for a while) and very hard. So I decided to give them a call considering the fact that I only enjoyed half of the meal as the fries were tossed. $14 for just a turkey burger, no way. When I called this establishment, a female answered, seemed interested in my concern initially however she asked if I could hold for a second then about a minute later a male answered the line. I wasn't informed that my call was being passed on nor was I informed of whom I was speaking with. Anyway, I re-explained my concern to him, his attitude was very oblivious to be in the food service industry and me as a consumer. And I quote "I'm not really sure why the fries would turn hard in a to-go box, if anything they would turn soggy it's kinda out of my hands with a to-go order". Huh?! And that's my point, they shouldn't have been hard, period especially in a to-go order. My office is 4 minutes away in walking distance, they wouldn't have even been soggy within 4 mins. less than on hard. Nothing was said, asked of nor offered to make it up, rectify the concern just nothing! I was at a lost for words more-so HOW my concern was handled - My workplace frequents this place and its sad that my concern was handled this way. Unacceptable and I will not be back. ************************************************************************ Now, after my review (same as above) on their Facebook page, I received an inbox! I was excited as I thought it was a personal reach out to rectify the situation, boy was I wrong! Not only was the attitude nonchalant but the facts were incorrect and an ATTEMPT to correct my concern still, was not offered. They're response was basically "you get what you get, esp. when the food leaves our doors!" Now, I don't know the reasoning for the in-boxed response, it seemed more of a lesson on condensation and what "others prefer' which has nothing to do with me or the concern at hand and STILL didn't rectify my super hard fries that had to be tossed. All in all, each contact that I've spoken with at Franklin (phone and Facebook) attitude stinks! If you place a to-go order, check it before you leave!

While we were waiting in the never ending line at the bar, the snobby waitresses were physically trying to push us out of the way, with no "excuse me" or "sorry". The 6 of us (ready to spend money) eventually left with no drinks and went down the street to O'Neils where we were welcomed by the owner. Also, The setup is horrible because there are tables right by the bar which creates a bottleneck. Our company used to come here for happy hour, but won't be back.

Franklin Tap is a great place to grab a drink while in the loop. It is less than a block away from Willis Tower and always has been craft beer selections on tap. The inside is pretty bland but is well spaced and open, nothing more than a good spot to grab a beer after work - which is good in my book.

JAKE WAS THE BEST SERVER EVER! We stayed longer than closing and he never complained once and continued to serve us as needed. We hosted a long event and needed last minute food. The team here was incredible and their hospitality was out of this world. Thank you for giving us a warm welcome to Chicago!
