Absolute must stop for any eagles member. I've been a member for years. any time I travel i try to find an eagles club. this one may be the most friendly and inviting one I've been to. thank you to my brother and sister eagles for making me feel welcome and making me feel like family. if im in dallas again I will be back.

It's a vibe! Hipster pool and dive bar. The weekends are a party scene. Kid friendly, but I suggest weekdays for them. Big screen TVs to watch the game as well. I waited too long to check out this place. Glad I finally made it.

Every time I go to this pool it is packed. If you want a cabana they are first come first serve and you need to be one of the first people in line before they open to get one. The drinks are 3 or 4 dollars, which is great! They do accept cards. It is a nonprofit and donates to local charities. There is always a fairly even mix of males to females. There is a child pool, a volley ball court, and some other stuff. They have food also. The parking is a gravel lot. My only complaint is they do not allow men to wear speedos. This is sexist. Lol Anyway, its 9 dollars to get in but they discount it to 5 for veterans.

This is a great solid pool. The food and drinks are very good, the staff are nice, and the atmosphere is good. We stayed for hours and had fun the whole time. There is a baby pool, shallow end, and a deep end that reaches 12 feet.

My husband and I enjoy the happy hour and appreciate the friendly staff here. It’s fun for the whole family, with cheap drinks and tasty food.

FOE? More like FUN! This place is a hidden gem in East Dallas. Great fun for the whole family. Low priced drinks, great food, and an amazing atmosphere. It’s not my first or last time here.

I love great spots like FOE in the middle of a city during the summertime; a quaint get away for the day. A nice secluded place to bring the family and friends to have a blast and enjoy time. If you are looking for a fantastic spot to sunbathe and find satisfaction in your life, great drinks and good food to top it off, stop by and hang for a while.

I love this place. It feels like your backyard with a staffed bar who are so excellent. Y'all keep this place a secret and only tell the people who pass the vibe check.

Such a fun spot to hang out with friends and family! Everyone's friendly and the food is great! It does get pretty busy on the weekends, but it's still comfortable and fun.

My kids wanted to go swimming one evening in the middle of the week and with a quick search of the internet, I found this place. When I called they were very friendly and informative over the phone. Once they mentioned that were open to the public and that their very small fee ( I think $8/each to swim) was 100% donated to many local charities, it sealed the deal. Interestingly located at the end of what seemed like a private residential road at the edge of a really nice neighborhood. The pool was huge with a smaller kiddie pool and plenty of floats and noodles to keep everyone afloat. There was a bar indoors with a couple pool tables and outdoors was wet & dry volleyball, another couple of bars, plenty of grassy areas for pets & kids and several tv's airing popular sports channels. I noticed some tented cabanas donated by different individuals/ businesses but I'm not sure of the price. The crowd was friendly and all seemed to be locals just having fun in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this FOA for both families and adults!

This place feels like it was lost in the 1960's but in a good way. It reminds me of when my parents would take us camping in the woods. It's a family friendly place. You'll smell the BBQ grill while you're laying next to the pool on a towel. You have to get there early to snag a spot. The food is priced OK but you feel hood spending money there because it supports a worthy cause. Highly recommend

Fraternal Order of Eagles... Sounds... menacing? A cult, perhaps? Tucked away in East Dallas is a public pool surrounded by greenery complete with a bar with drinks and bites/snacks. It's a very chill place to hang out with friends and family. It was $10 per person for admission. We had a great time over the Labor Day holiday!

It depends on who's working behind the bar and which Trustee is on duty! A few of the Trustee's have ego problems and some of the bartenders get really lazy. Very uncomfortable indoor bar seating. Aerie 3108 Dallas Texas

This is truly one of Dallas' hidden gems. It's laid back and loaded with lots of fun! Lots of people and a large pool, accompanied with different bars & bar food. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I always enjoy coming out. It's very carefree and did I mention the drinks are free. Seating is first come first serve but they have a pretty good set up. You can always bring your beach gear and enjoy setting up on the lawn.

It's always a great time with friendly ppl... 10 outta 10 would recommend. Best place to go to beat this heat

I give this place 5 stars This pool is family friendly. U can bring the family of all ages. They not only have the bib pool but they have a kiddie pool they have a bar volleyball a playground. Through the week u can bring food and snacks on the weekend they have food for purchase. But I have been going here for 4 years and I have never had anything less but a great time

Ha! This place is so silly. It's tucked away in a neighborhood. Plenty of sun or shade. Lots to do, though I only spent time at the pool. This pool attracts many different types of people: some kids/families, party animals, and older folks. I came here a bit dressed up and you definitely don't need to be! It's not uppity at all; in fact, it has a bit of a camping-vibe to it. 3 bars and strong drinks! You can also buy a burger which was half-decent. Fun place and they support charity!

Love this place! Lindsay is the favorite bartender for my squad at the beloved FOE. There are a ton of great things to say about his place but I'm just going to leave you with this. The locals love it, they hate people talking about it, & it rocks! One of Dallas' best kept secrets for summer time shenanigans. Grab some friends and head there you'll be glad that you did Oh yeah and please nooooooo peeing in the pool. Just sayin

I came here for the 4th of July and had a blast! The people that work here are so friendly! The pool is a good size and there is a mix of people. There were families with kids, bikers, uptown yuppies, etc. They have a grill area where they serve chicken, burgers, fries, etc. A burger and fries is about $7 and they're great. Totally backyard bbq food. Loved it! The drinks are incredibly cheep! There's plenty of lawn space to lay down towels or lawn chairs. If you prefer shade you can rent out tents that line the pool area for about $30/day. I would definitely recommend spending a day out here with your family or friends! Its a great wholesome environment for everyone to have a good time!

We've lived in Dallas for far too long without trying this place out. When we drove up, I was like Dazed and Confused and said "well alright, alright, allllriiight!" It truly is like stepping back in time with several of my closest hippy friends. The location is tucked away among some trees and green spaces in East Dallas. When you enter, you have to sign in and pay (no electronics required!), and then you are allowed entry. We came on a Sunday around 1:30, and the place was just comfortable enough. We found a spot (bring plenty of towels) fairly quickly, but after that the place started to get pretty busy. Drinks and food are very reasonable. You can't bring outside bevs in, but with $40 for two people, we were able to pay for entry, drinks, and food and still have a few bucks leftover. There isn't much shade nor seating available. You pick a spot on the lawn and just hang! Also, I would recommend that only experienced young swimmers over the age of 5 go with adults. It's somewhat kid friendly, but mainly I saw it as a way to unwind with the hubby without our two rugrats.

Oh, FOE. You are so wonderful in the summer when I need to indulge in inexpensive beverages, parlay with my friends and do a whole lot of people watching. Just a few bucks gets you in, grab a cabana (if you get there early enough, best of luck) and enjoy all this place has to offer. Let me just say one thing and move on quickly if you are pretentious in any way you will not enjoy this place. However! If you are all about good people and good fun you will have the time of your life and then some. The staff is friendly and they are grilling up some delicious burgers...I believe there's even a veggie burger option. Don't forget the fixins. The fountain in the middle is great for the kiddos and they have floaties and noodles. If you're here on the weekends a LOT of young adults come out and gather around with their drinks and mingle. It's like a day party in the pool. It gets PACKED so know what you are getting yourself into if you come at ANY time on the weekends. Apparently they are open super late as well. We've been there on a Wednesday in the middle of the day - probably the best time to come, still folks there (that I guess also decided to take the day off, work from home whatever - not judging) so always fun and you'll always meet people. Join me next time!

A long time institution of Dallas tucked away on the East side. Big ol pool, friendly people, cheap drinks and burgers. Did I mention the $1 jello shots? This place makes me think of The Sandlot. And Wendy Peffercorn. Oh Wendy... It can definitely get crowded on the weekends, but hey, it's a pool, what do you expect? Staff is super friendly here. Takes you back to a time where public pools were the place to be. I can't imagine the amount of chlorine they must put in that pool however...

As I went here they didn't accept my service dog and told me to leave in the rudest manner. I will not be back nor will I recommend to anyone. Way to be all inclusive for the community.

What a fun place! My friends and I spent the day here on the Fourth of July! Its a great place to spend the day hanging by/in the pool, drinking some beers and having a hot dog off the grill. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We had a ton of fun and I'd go back the next time I'm visiting the area!

Felt out of place.the vibe was u can come but we really don't want u here.nice place but feels privately owned.the bartenders face expression say it all who they like to service but if not worried about the awkwardness go enjoyed.

We arrived late on a Monday (8:30) with only 30 minutes until the pool closed and there was a group of 8 people being herded out as a drunken brawl was going on. It was quite entertaining but not the least bit kid friendly. This was not a great first impression, -1 star. lol. However the lady let us in for free because of the fight scene. The pool was nice but quite a few people for a Monday night, I found that surprising. Also surprising was that people are that wasted on a Monday night but if you factor in the dirt cheap cocktails that are available I suppose it become a little more clear. I paid $3.75 for custom cocktails of peach liqueur, sprite, gin and lime and it was totally delicious but the bartender looked at me like I was a weirdo and he looked about as happy to be there as your average Walmart employee.

The people are all very friendly, the bathrooms were clean. Drinks, burgers, fries, and fun in the summertime. Great hangout. Can't wait to return. Members and nonmembers welcome, kids friendly. There's an area to full up your flotation devices, volleyball court, and kiddie pool.

About 15 years ago, I heard rumor of a great swimming pool in Dallas. Word was that it was little known to the general public and allegedly located somewhere in the middle of the city. It was described as being "across the railroad tracks and down a dirt road" (didn't know we still had them) and totally hidden from view. The story continued that it was open to the public, had a bar and was a very cool place to hang out for those who could find it. Hating that I was not in on the secret (especially one so interesting), I searched. But with little to go on and in the pre-Internet days (yes, there was such a time), the fabled location could not be found. Over time, the rumor became a legend, faded from memory and was eventually forgotten. Fast forward to 2009, and the eureka moment happens. (For the record, I did not jump out of the bath tub and run naked down the street, although, I would had I been in the tub at the time.) A friend finally clued me in on the Fraternal Order of Eagles (a philanthropic society similar to The Elks Club) whose Aerie (that's what they call it) and its great swimming pool are located on Arturo Drive. I have confirmed that this indeed is the place I had sought. The FOE pool has probably been around since Elvis was svelte with only minimal decor changes in the last 25 years. It is located in East Dallas' Forest Hills neighborhood (that's the far south end of White Rock Lake and across Garland Rd) and it is definitely camouflaged. It is across the tracks, but the once dirt road is now paved. However, the driveway is a dirt/gravel combo (let's call it rustically charming). And, with it's heavily wooded surroundings, looks and feels more East Texas than East Dallas. The place is best described as Lee Harvey's with a swimming pool - and that's a really good thing! The crowd is diverse with a mixture of young professionals, FOE members, attractive hipsters, blue collar folk, tattoos like it's 1999, and several families all taking advantage of what is for all intents a large well-maintained backyard pool. Patrons range in age from three months to 73 years - all commingling and having a good time. This is one of those rare places where people of all stripes converge, relax and let it all hang out (sometimes regardless of the obvious aesthetic consequences). There is a full bar inside. Outside they serve beer for $2.00 - $2.75 each (Shiner in a can, y'all). They also grill hot dogs and burgers on the spot. There is a volleyball court, a playground for kids, a pool table and a great digital jukebox (one of the place's few mod cons) that plays music outside and in. (I selected White Stripes' "Black Math," Rolling Stones' "Bitch," Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and "Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" among many others.) There is also a large room that appears to be a social/dance hall. The admission for non-members is $5.00 for adults (seriously) and $3.00 for children. It is my understanding that a membership is ridiculously reasonable as well. Also, I have to compliment the FOE members and their auxiliaries (that's Eagle-speak for "wives") who are very nice and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good time. Get there early because by noon all of the pool chairs will be claimed. You can also bring your own, spread a towel out on the lawn, or just pass out poolside like the rather loud lady did last week after taking ample advantage of the $2.50 beverages. There are also no life guards so parents must be vigilant. Nothing like discovering something that has always been right in front of you. Freakin' eureka!

I'll announce my biases at the beginning. I'm a member of the Eagles. However, we were regular patrons for more than a year before applying for membership. We moved into the neighborhood a few years ago and quickly became regulars. We make use of the pool and bar year-round, and regularly attend scheduled events. The value is hard to beat, the people are fun, and the members are quickly becoming like family.

I thought my GPS was broken as I turned on to a small dirt road in a wooded area. Maybe my new "friends" invited me here to rob me?! LOL no, it wasn't the case... I finally pulled up to the sign and as I tried to snap a photo of it really quick I was caught by a parking attendant, how mildly embarrassing! They led me to a parking spot and I found my way to the office, paid and found my friends (Kaia V. & Jodi G.) WHY would I drive all this way & pay $7 for something I could have free just a short walk away from my doorstep (a.k.a. 1 of 3 pools in my apartment complex)? Well, I'd rather bond with friends and have my drinks made for me. So much so that I may have ditched taking a certain someone to the airport and made him take a cab instead... Oops. I did have a really great time! A dramatic change from the weekend before at a Vegas pool but a nice reminder to be grounded and real :-) Reminds me of summer trips to the lake in Livermore as a kid.

Went to FOE after hearing about it from many friends. It was a lovely sunny, warm day. Lovely lady at the door welcomed us in; bartenders got us great drinks! New fave swim/dive bar!

Plenty of diaper babies in the regular pool. Elbow your way in and try not to think about why you can't see the bottom. Hard to believe there's no lifeguard. It would be great if they limited the number of people allowed in at once. About 300 fewer and I'd be happier.

If you find yourself stuck in Dallas but really wanting to be in Austin, this is where we start. First, grab your swim suit and $7 (trust me, you can't get to Austin any cheaper). Now (since you are a Dallasite after all), let's run the numbers: Chock full of 20-30 somethings? Check! Tats and pierces galore? Check! Perfect pool with cool, refreshing water (now that they have a new airborne water chiller)? Check! Full Tiki bar poolside with all your fav bevs? Check! In the middle of Dallas in the middle of a forest, totally surrounded by dense foliage including some funky palm trees? Check! No nagging life guards? Check! Beach volleyball? Check! Play area and kiddie pool for kids? Check! Grills for cooking out? Check! Horseshoe pit? Check! Smoking allowed? Check! Nicely manicured lawn around the pool with plenty of stretch-out space for your clan and your beach blankets? Check! $2.75 charbroiled burgers and suprisingly great krinkle-cut fries? Check! Loud rock music cranking out with your fav tunes? Check! Yeah, Barton Springs it ain't. But this absolute jewel of a place is one of the very best things Dallas has to offer on a hot summer day.

Came with my wife for the first time and we loved it. Lots to do. Great hang out and awesome vibe.

Unpretentious and laid back. Cheap booze and food. Good jukebox. What else can you ask for in a swimmin hole? The beauty of the FOE is that you have the backwoods right at the edge of the city. It seriously doesn't get more Texas than this and I love it. I grew up a country girl and nothing beats that southern hospitality you feel when you're at a place like this. I will say that during the hotter summer months the pool isn't all too refreshing. The water gets really warm and just plain uncomfortable (in a gross way.) So I am usually there sunbathing, drinkin a few and hanging with cool people. The FOE is definitely one of the many oasis' my crew and I frequent during those hot Texas months... which is what, 9 of them? Don't be surprised if you see me there one lazy Sunday afternoon.

So much fun. It's as fun as advertised. I had too much fun that i don't really remember what happened after 6pm. I think i had too many IPA's. Pool's great, water is nice and cold and the beers are a plenty. Bring your own towel. Beers are 2-3 dollars.

Recommend going on a weekday if you want some peace and quiet or just not too many people. Have been on a weekend and I decided to come on a Tuesday tonight and our bartender was so nice and chill. We ordered Pizza Hut and ate by the pool

It's like a country club for hipsters. Great pool. Sand volleyball. Cheap eats and drinks. I paid $3 for a jack and coke. The vibe at night is different from the one during the day. My friend and I got there around 3, and stayed pretty late into the night. During the day there were more kids. Towards dinnertime, most of the kids and their parents were gone. Day and night, everyone was having a good time. Bring cash. Burgers off the grill were good and inexpensive. I can't remember how much I paid because I had been there for several hours and had a few drinks by that point. It wasn't much though. Great place for people watching, and straight chilling. I felt like I was in the backwoods at someone's pool party. Not in the middle of one of the largest cities in the US.

I came here for a friend's bday over the weekend and had a BLAST! Very clean and you can tell the owners care about their business. You can't take food or coolers in and I didn't mind because the food and drinks were so good and affordable...so I didn't have to worry about packing more than a towel and my sunscreen. I loved the relaxed crowd and the music being played (not too loud either) I will definitely be back!

Came here for fourth of July with my friends. It was something I've never seen before which mkes it unique. The pool is located in the middle of a forest type area and has an Austin vibe. Its overally very chill which is pretty cool. This isnt the typical Sisu pool party where its mandatory to be shitfaced and followed my making bad choices. The pool water at FOE was nice and cold considering the weather being so hot and humid. There is also a couple sand volleyball courts which I played for the first time!The staff was of course very friendly! Theres a $7 door charge which is reasonable and they have to make their money somewhere in order to keep the place running. The drinks were the cheapest I've ever witnessed in the whole DFW area. My normal vodka soda's were no more than $3 bucks! In addition to drinks, they had burgers, fries, hotdogs, and other poolside foods. I had the hotdog and it was $2 which was another score! The fries were okay and nothing to special. Overall: I DEFINITELY recommend coming here for the summer! Its such relaxing place! I really enjoyed my time here over the weekend!

Came here with my 2 year old and some friends and we had a great time. This is a great place for adults and kids alike to spend a hot summer day. Adult pools, kiddie pools, a big outdoor play area, volleyball courts, food and adult beverages...what more could you ask for? We had a great time spending a few hours here but it was very crowded and can be a bit pricey if you come here regularly! Other then that I would highly recommend.

This place was great! Cheap drinks, older crowd, pool was well maintained and the setup was basic, there were 4 cabanas that were nice and some of the areas were dedicated to burgers and there were 2 bars outside and 1 bar inside. I completely understand why this place is poppin on the weekends - they have a really cool setup and the pool is fantastic! The main takeaway for this place is that they are a no frills place to kind of get away from the city and enjoy the sunshine by the pool. Definitely will be returning since the cost of entry and drinks is very reasonable especially compared to other pools that are more family oriented and cost a bit more with no alcohol. Definitely will be returning to FOE! Loved our time there and looking forward to spending time here when it's packed on the weekend.

So most people show up to the FOE to get their pool time in. I've actually never dipped a toe into their water just gone to have a couple of drinks. They have a full bar setup and the bartenders are spot on. You'll never end up with a weak drink or one that makes you think "this tastes like burning". Not only that but the prices are phenomenal. The pool is pretty inviting, and I think if you're coming to the pool there's an entrance fee ($7ish). You can also rent a cabana for the day in advance and I think it's around $40 for the day. During the weekend days they also have a concession stand where you can buy food, think burgers hot dogs etc. It's a great place to hang with friends daytime or night!

We were previously huge supporters of FOE. Over the past two years we've spread the word to dozens of friends--old and young--about the pool and their straight-forward policies, friendly staff, and lively patrons. Our experience this past weekend, however, was an utter disappointment. My fiancee was asked to put on shorts for wearing a normal, non-revealing swimsuit. The swimsuit was a normal cut and even I--quite conservative in that regard--was utterly stunned when she was asked to do so. Upon arrival we had seen another woman asked to put on shorts. I understood the action as that patron was essentially wearing what amounted to a thong. But to demand a different woman wearing a normal bathing suit to put on shorts reeks of an antiquated, puritan and frankly sexist business policy that we should not support. The worker apologized for the request and explained that a patron had made the request. The worker further stated, "What can I say, you're hot?" That is no excuse and certainly no apologize. If FOE is unable to stand up for a woman's right to wear a modest swimsuit because a disrespectful patron is unable to keep his eyes off of a woman's private areas--then I would rather bring our business elsewhere.

Definitely not a bad pool. Clean water and the water cannon is really nice. Good beer, cheap beer and friendly staff. The bathrooms are a little run down but it's a pool! Friendly place. Hopefully more people don't learn about it.

I love this place! The staff is top notch and the property is always clean and orderly. The people that work and volunteer there are the nicest people in the world. The comment below from the lady complaining about being harassed by the bartender who pulled a knife on her is a total lie! I know exactly who the bartender is the lady is accusing of threatening her with a knife and its totally absurd!! This bartender keeps a knife on her to cut fruit and things that need to be cut because its an outdoor BAR! Hello?!? Its not some fancy restaurant where everything is "just so". Screw that. The people that run the bar are the nicest people in the world and they don't any malice in them, EVER! Sounds to me like this lady who was visiting took things way out of context and should probably continue going to the douchey hotel pool she's probably used to going to. Stay away from our cool vibe spot! F.O.E. RULES IN EVERY WAY!

Amazing! Not your typical dallas pool! Imagine the opposite of uptown's sisu and bungalow. Music is classic and at decent volume. Good cheap drinks. Fun atmosphere! fast food! And they had veggie burgers for all you animals lovers. Get there early (12) to make sure you get a chair or rent a "cabana" aka an E-Z Up/canopy for space if you have a lot of ppl coming out. I did my birthday gathering here. I coordinated w Luis who was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything goes to charity so I felt good... Okay better about drinking the day away.

I visited for the first time and absolutely loved the place, along with the burgers and cheap drinks! The pool was very refreshing. The trees provided awesome shade so I never actually felt hot. For not one second did I feel like I was in Dallas. I can't give five stars because I got a $55.00 parking ticket moments within arrival. We didn't see any parking directions other than member parking. I parked around many other vehicles, thus one would naturally assume this was a legitimate parking area.

Great place! I will definitely return... probably not on a Saturday though, quite crowded. Cheap food and drinks (take cash if you want food from their grill). Also make sure you know where you're parking, we got a ticket last Saturday for $55.00 because we parked near other cars in what looked like overflow parking, not so apparently and not a good way to end an otherwise very fun afternoon. Also would be REALLY nice if they opened before noon with these 100 degree days. Maybe instead of their 12:00pm - 1:00am Saturday hours something like 10:00am - 11:00pm could be better?

Nice place to hang out, cheap beers. Only complaint i had was the bathroom for that many ppl that come over there has to be bigger and cleaner. Apart from that had a good time

First time visitor, and had a great time. If you're looking for an alternative to the lakes, hard to imagine finding a better pool scene than FOE. Great mix of people, so nobody would feel out of place. As cheap as the beer prices are, could see where things might get rowdy at times. But that wasn't the case on the day we went.

Imagine for a second, the perfect pool. A place where everyone is accepted, no one judges based on appearances, the drinks are strong, the people are friendly, and the water is perfect. This is FOE. You drive down a road, then down another road. THEN, it looks like the little road dead ends. And it does. And there's a little building. This building is your gateway to heaven. Pay your $7 cover and enjoy yourself. Cheap/strong drinks all around. Table pool and swimming pool. Normal, chill, real people. Not a lot of douchebags. Can't tell you much that other people haven't already said. But a word to the wise? Go on a day off. They open at noon. Get there at noon. STAY. ALL DAY. I was there from 12-7. Drinks. Swimming. Chilling. Such a good way to spend a day off.

FOE contains within its gates my FAVORITE pool in Dallas. Why is FOE my favorite pool in Dallas you might ask? Well, it's definitely not the fanciest pool in town, but I don't want fancy in my chlorine. This pool reminds me of the public pools I used to go to as a child, back when I didn't have a care in the world in my hot pink 90s style high-leg-cut one piece swimsuit. People are there to have good old fashioned clean fun - Have some crinkle cut fries for $2 or a cheeseburger and a few beers and then float around in a pool on a giant inflatable crocodile (BYOC)! The water is always just the right temperature to cool you off after baking in the sun, there is a large grassy area to lay/tan in, and both food and drinks are easily accessible and really reasonably priced. They have two volleyball courts, indoor air conditioned bathrooms, and they've even added 4 'cabanas' you can rent for the day if you need more shade than the trees along the edges of the outdoor area can provide. The fee for cabana rental is currently $30, but remember, FOE is a charitable organization. You're not throwing money down the toilet, you're helping them help the community! Every year when summer comes around and everyone else is grumpy about how close the temps in Dallas get to the surface of the sun, I am overjoyed with the prospect of going to the FOE pool. I'm happy to pay the entrance fee to support the charitable organization that FOE is. I'm also happy to keep my drinks at least a few feet away from the pool so that they don't have to shut it down to clean all of the straws and garbage out of the filters. Everyone at FOE was a noob at one point, even the oldest members, so I understand that there will always be people there who have no idea what is going on. Rule of thumb, your first time should be with someone who is not an FOE virgin. That way, you will have less of a chance of doing something that will offend or bother the other patrons. It really bothers me when people go to FOE for the first time and complain about paying to get in, where they can take their drinks, or that they need to put a shirt and shoes on to use the toilet. If you don't want to follow the rules, or don't know what FOE stands for, you shouldn't be there in the first place. If you can't bother yourself to google FOE prior to going and show up with some sympathy for their various causes and rules, you should honestly just stay away. If you're wearing a t-shirt that says BRO on it and you think god created you personally as a gift to the universe, please, puhleeeeeeese, stay away! FOE isn't for everybody. It's for nice people, people who don't want any trouble, people who don't need to be the coolest dude in the room, people who are good sports, people who can smile and relax and take joy in the sky, the sun, and the water, the french fries, and the smiling friendly faces around them.

This swimming hole is Dallas' best kept secret, and my motivation for not reviewing it. However, since I've moved to another state - I'm outing the coolest place in Dallas, skanks. It's a retro time-warp, and I always feel like I've stepped into the 1950's when I'm there. The lodge, which the FOE refer to as "home", has not been updated since it was built and looks and feels very much like a house. Aside from the Olympic size pool, the features of this experience include; horseshoe pits, a grill, darts on Wednesday nights, $2.00 Tecate' they keep in in coolers, and the most unpretentious convergence of Dallasites - ever. If douchebags discover this place - I will sit in the parking lot with a shotgun and snipe the shit out of them before they defile a blade of grass on that property. When I'm done defending the fort, I'll kick back by the pool and enjoy and burger and a frosty can of Tecate'.

Heard about this place for over a year and got to check it out over Memorial Day. It's near Lakewood and offers some great beers w/ a pool. Worth checking out

I'm hesitant to review, but the word has spread and it's no secret anymore. I first came to the FOE in the summer of '08, having been unceremoniously dumped, complete with the heart in the food processor. I came to the pool on the recommendation of friends, but alone on that day. I sat quietly in the corner, sipping $2 margaritas and watching the world go by. It was a pretty spectacular way to soothe my sad soul. Fast forward to the summer of '11 and the FOE and I are still going strong. No, you can't smoke or drink in the pool anymore. Yes, they now have a computerized cash register and a separate pool entrance. Everything you still love about it is happening, in spades. The beer is still cold, the people are still endlessly friendly, the kiddos are still adorable and you'll probably make a few new friends. The rule enforcement is pretty strict, but whatever. We're guests on their turf and I'm okay with being respectful. Sipping a PBR, listening to Metallica, surrounded by my bestests at the FOE today, I wondered how life could get better. I quickly realized it couldn't and that such thoughts might get me struck by lightning for being so greedy.

Cheap drinks, cool people, COLD POOL water. Perfect for a HOT summer day. Reminds me of Barton Springs except easier to get into and a shorter walk from the car. This is exactly what every 4 & 5 Star review says it is. If you're quick to complain about things please stay away. If you don't love it, you don't belong there.
