"This retro gay bar in Crystal City brings glam and pizzazz to the local karaoke scene, with karaoke every night of the week until 1:30 a.m. Whether it's Donna Summer or Cher (or even "Little Shop of Horrors"), the eclectic crowd isn't shy. And the burger is solid, too. The party typically started at 8 p.m." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin

Freddie's is a cozy atmosphere bar and dining place. With great decorative appeal. Today was a special treat from a great friend for Father's day. Didn't know that we were in for a wonderful drag show entertainment with our brunch meal. Delightful. Hostess very nice. Waiter very attentive. Food, we both had a simple plate of eggs, potatoes bacon, and toast. Looked good, but got cold so fast. Thanks Freddie's for the awesome entertainment. Will be back. 🩷

Reservation made for Saturday at 7:30. Paid the additional $5 cash cover charge per person for two people and made our way to our table. Waited 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were sitting at a table. Five minutes later finally got the menus. The next time we saw our server it was 8:05 and by that point we were annoyed but wanted to give the bar a chance to redeem itself as we wanted to stick around for the drag show. We ordered a Diet Coke and a Corona to start. The Diet Coke arrived fairly quickly but the Corona wasn't delivered until 8:30. I saw the bottle sit on the counter with other drinks for 20+ minutes before some other wait staff delivered it. Asked for a Diet Coke refill that never came. Drinking a warm beer was the last straw and we asked for the check to leave. Our waiter apologized numerous times for the bar being busy but truly he was more distracted by other customers and socializing with them versus the bartender being busy. Including the cover charges paid $20 for one Diet Coke and one warm Corona.

Google
Amazing vibes, gay bars that are fun for queer women are hard to find, but this one is a winner! The first night I came, the regulars welcomed me with open arms. The food is good, but the service takes the cake. Everyone on staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! I particularly love sitting in Pam's section, she always makes sure my drinks make it in before happy hour ends and takes great care of us!

Google
I’ve been to Freddie’s a few times now and I invited all my friends out to a drag show Saturday night. We got a table and are glad that we did since it was busy. Our servers were amazing and bartenders made great drinks! We didn’t have to wait long at all which was surprising given how busy it was. The staff was on top of their game. The drag show was spectacular, great music, fun atmosphere, and just an overall wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back!

My friend and I Went for happy hour on Thursday night. The happy hour prices were great. I ordered 2 absolute and pineapples along with some fried pickles and beefy bites. They were soo good. The owner Freddie also stopped in and he was so sweet. Hadn’t seen him in since Easter of 2016.

Landed here by chance on karaoke night and it was very fun and enjoyable watching people perform. Pretty boy bartender was not very attentive and gave me an extra drink I didn’t ask for (which I paid for) but overall a good experience and a good vibe.

Google
It is probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck Sunday brunches in Crystal City: fun, fabulous atmosphere with friendly servers, and freshly made omelettes. On the downside, the background aromas of spilled alcohol and other aromas takes away from the overall enjoyable experience. I would probably go once to twice a month if they could fix that aroma.

Google
this is why I love the lgbtq+ community coming from a straight person. everyone in there was so sweet, nice, and thoughtful. The host was hyping me up. she’s the cutest ever omg. we sat down got a bunch of food. food was delicious. i would definitely come here again and support this business. thank you <3

Grace A.

Yelp
The food was decent. The service was a bit slow and other patrons were greeted and had food and drinks quicker than us. Not sure if it was because they were regulars. The drag queens performing did make up for it though. The vibe was great. Would recommend

Yelp
Washington DC can seem like a serious place but Freddie's is bright and gay. You do not need to go to Reho because Freddie's has brought it to you in nearby Arlington. There is a beach theme going on here. The bar was well staffed and service is with a smile. Plus you can order some food if you have a case of the munchies. There is a nice outside area if the night is pleasant.

Charles H.

Yelp
I always have a great time at Freddie's! Great drinks, delicious food, amazing staff - and if you are lucky you will see Freddie! I always love brunch, and the drag shows are fun.

Yelp
This bar caters to the LBGT+ community, but welcomes everyone. It is located in a busy restaurant/bar district. There is metered street parking available to park. The place has a decent sized dining area, a bar in the center with seating, an outdoor patio in the back, a small stage (where they do the karoke and the trivia host sits), and and small area in the front, between the front door and the door that leads to the dining area that has seating. The bar is very colorful and has a really cool vibe. The bar was packed and there were having trivia night going on. It was so packed that I ended up going out to the back patio to eat. The staff there is very friendly. I really liked them. The bar hosts karaoke every night and drag nights, other things on select nights. They have a full service bar, a few signature cocktails, burgers, sandwiches, salads and pasta. I ordered the Ryan Sammich which came with sweet potatoes fries. It took a very long time for me to get my food. It was over 30 minutes. The food was ok, nothing special. The chicken breast on the sandwich was small and it did not have much flavor. Don't get me wrong, this is a fun place. They have a lot going on and a fun, awesome staff. I probably would not come back here for just the food though. If I did come back, it would probably involve participating in one of their special events.

Yelp
Came here for both a happy hour and a brunch. It was not at all what I thought it was going to be either time. For happy hour they have prices that you cannot beat. The drinks were standard but cheap. We also got the fried pickles which were surprisingly really good. For brunch we did the buffet option and I was expecting the worst, but the food was actually really good. They had a weird mix of things but nothing was bad and it really is unlimited. The drink prices went up (and that is not unlimited or as cheap as it used to be) but it is still good. Service here was great. Overall a cool spot to go to if you are in the area.

Yelp
Such a good happy hour and a great brunch! The food is good not great, but the service and the atmosphere are amazing! The food could be mediocre and i'd return for the vibes and the good happy hour.

Yelp
Freddie's proved to be a gem among bars. The welcoming atmosphere, combined with the skillful and amiable bartenders, set the stage for a delightful evening. The menu at Freddie's boasted a range of delectable dishes that left a lasting impression. From savory bites to creative cocktails, the culinary experience was top-notch. Freddie's is undoubtedly a standout destination for those seeking a perfect blend of good food, friendly service, and cool drinks.

Yelp
My sister in law is getting married in May. She and her fiancé live in Crystal City and have been to Freddie's several times so when they asked me to find them a relatively low key place for a joint bachelor/ette party, I knew this was it. The staff was VERY accommodating. There was ZERO fee to reserve a table for 30 people (!!) - just a $5 cover charge for the drag show. Everyone had a great time and our server worked his butt off serving us and several other tables. Great spot!

Daniel R.

Yelp
A wonderful brunch spot! Not only is the food delicious, but it's probably the most affordable brunch in the DMV. $14 for an unlimited buffet? That's awesome! This is a queer haven with some of the most fun decorations and beautiful colors. The staff are all lovely, especially Freddie. Check it out!

Anna D.

Yelp
Best place for karaoke, happy hour, and food! My favorite is their perfectly spiced and crispy home style chicken tenders. Fries are oh so good! Excellent burgers and pastas! They have food specials and other events as well. Karaoke is EVERY night 8pm - 2am except for some nights where events precede it. Freddie's is a tourist spot where you have to visit it if you've never been there. See all of the Barbie dolls on the walls!! It's always a party there! If you ever need a pick-me-up on a bad day, Freddie's will cheer you up. Hint: Everyone goes there. It's not just a gay bar. Happy Hour 4-7pm every day Mondays: Half-priced pasta Tuesdays: All-you-can-eat Taco buffet $13.99 and Trivia 7-9pm Wednesdays: Half-priced build-your-own-burgers and Drag Bingo 8-10pm Saturdays: Drag Show Sundays: Champagne Buffet Brunch 10am-3pm and Zodiac show every first Sunday

Yelp
My friends and I were looking for a place to go into on a Thursday night and one of them selected this at random. By chance it was karaoke night, and luckily for us, the singers were all very good. It seems like it was a very fun place where a lot of people knew each other, the service was friendly and took only a few minutes for getting drinks. The establishment is very LGBT friendly as the karaoke was also encouraging drag at the event.

Jayy R.

Yelp
I love Freddie's always a fun time the food is decent and so are the drinks, the staff is way too fun they keep a good vibe rollin, nothing to dislike really

Jinny Y.

Yelp
Came here for trivia and it didn't disappoint! The questions were challenging but we love a challenge! Got here right after happy hour but the drinks were not expensive! I tried a yummy Pina colada and loved the cute umbrella that came with it. Also got the loaded nachos and chicken wrap and they definitely hit the spot. Location is great and lots of street parking nearby that is open to the public in the evenings! Lots of seating on the covered indoor/outdoor patio and inside at the bar or at comfy booths. Great ambiance and the wait staff was very friendly!

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that the owner greeted us and was super kind, as was the hostess. Really went out of their way to be friendly. We went for Sunday brunch, which was a buffet. The cold foods were fine, but the hot foods were lukewarm at best, despite being in chafing dishes. I didn't have an omelette from the omelette station, but I'm guessing it would have been hot. It's a shame because the food was decent, and would have been pretty good at the correct temperature. The waiter was also nice, but not overly attentive, leaving me without water for a while. I hope this was only an off day because it could be a great brunch spot.

Nicole L.

Yelp
I highly recommend visiting this Freddie's! While I was living in Arlington this summer, my coworkers and I visited a few times for drinks, singing, and fun, and that's what you'll get here! Aside from great service and drinks, the regulars who frequent here and an absolute joy to be around. How is everyone so good at singing?! I felt like I was actually watching professionals do their thing on stage while I was there (but everyone is supportive, even if you suck at singing like me and still decide to get on stage!). This is definitely one of the places I miss the most since leaving, so check if our if you're ever feeling the mood to jam to music and drink!

Angela H.

Yelp
I always have a blast when I go to Freddie's! Such a positive and accepting atmosphere and the service is always on point. Fantastic place to grab food, drinks & entertainment for a fun night out!

Simon S.

Yelp
Terrible undercooked food but fun drinks and crowd and shows. The food desperately needs to be improved!

K B.

Yelp
Freddie's is always fun. Great brunch for a reasonable price on Sundays. Made to order palettes and waffles among the choices. Service is always great and personable. Space is cute and fun.

Dale H.

Yelp
Brunch time... If you're in DC check out Freddie's Beach Bar! Fabulous atmosphere, excellent food and service! Freddie greeted us and gave us a little history of his place. Recommend 10/10! (If you look very closely, the doll in the middle is Freddie in his Easter bonnet...)

Nina R.

Yelp
Very welcoming place! I've been here maybe once or two other times and I've always had fun. I came here for karaoke with a few friends. I missed the happy hour special that included meatballs and chicken wings. I want to go back and get that free food! I took a look at a schedule that was posted on a wall and there is some sort of karaoke or singing just about 7 days per week. Our waitress was super nice and she even sang a few songs. I think the Manager or the owner stopped by our table to see how we were doing. That was pretty cool too. I had a Jack and Ginger and Fried Mozerella Sticks. Both were fine. I would love to go back!

Jersey M.

Yelp
Freddie's is an absolute oasis for the gays and allies in Northern Virginia. There is truly no other and no better place to go! You get the most amazing nostalgic experience with the vintage toy decor and the in your face colors and lights and tchotchkes. It's amazing. They have some really great food and great prices. The burgers are always a good choice and the sweet potato fries. They also have a great brunch on the weekends! The drinks are so creative and delicious. They have their own cocktail menu and they also have classic drinks to choose from. A lot of the drinks are named after local drag queens too! They have karaoke almost every night and tons of events like drag bingo and drag shows! It's a blast every single time!

EM M.

Yelp
I've been to Freddie's a couple of times and have always been greeted by friendly staff. Great service, happy hour specials, and drinks.

Cindy K.

Yelp
We happened upon this place during a drag show. Omg. The staff was great, the customers were all happy. We had way too much fun. Would definitely go back!

Erika S.

Yelp
I had a ball here! Their parking lot was a little hard to find, but I digress. Make sure you get a reservation at least a week in advance and get there early, especially for events like drag Bingo, trivia night, or the drag show on Saturday night because everyone and their mama will beat you there and have a better seat. We sat on the patio, but didn't feel any less involved in the festivities. We had a great waitperson who was super sweet and well informed even though it was their first day! These ladies gave a show! 10 stars for them, especially the Black drag Queen that I took a picture with (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name and I looked everywhere) because she made sure to come out on the patio and make us all feel like family :) I had the Flashing Flamingo drink, Boardwalk Burger with Cheddar, and the crazy good chocolate cake because that drink was not short on the alcohol AT ALL so I needed something to soak it all up lol. One thing that's gonna happen here is YOU are going to get a GOOD drink and you are gonna feel it, so be prepared! I work a different schedule now so it's been hard for me to get back to one of their bingo, trivia, or drag performance nights, but I look forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
This evening, my partner and I walked into Freddie's Beach Bar hungry and ready to drink and eat. BUT as we entered the main hall of the restaurant not the porch, our olfactory glands were assaulted by one of the foulest smells imaginable. It was horrible. We were not sure if was because they used a sour, dirty mop to clean the floors or if nobody had washed their feet in two months. We sat down, glanced at the menu. Then we both got up quietly and headed for the door. We simply could not for one more minute tolerate the nauseating smell. Management/wait staff did not seem to notice. How any one could work there let alone eat there is beyond us. Freddie, if you want customers, please check out foul stinky odors and eliminate them ASAP. For sure we will not return until we hear the situation has improved.

Akilah A.

Yelp
Freddie's is one of my favorite places to hang out. I love the environment, everyone is friendly and such a joy to be around. I can't forget about the amazing food and drinks. To finish off my night with karaoke and awesome performances makes for a great time.

Mark R.

Yelp
First, I had made reservations a couple of days prior and for some reason my reservation had been cancelled. The hostess did find the four of us a table in the back. I didn't realize it was trivia night, so the place was very noisy and it was impossible to hold a conversation at the table. So we decided not to stay for dinner and on the way out we passed a table of six guys, one of whom called my husband a derogatory name, which was unprovoked. I thought Freddie's was a safe place for the LGBT community; however, it wasn't on this night.

Stacy R.

Yelp
Food was good, that garlic bread is to die for. Service them hot tot-ties be working, ambiance was amazing we love Brooklyn, jazzy and raven. Keeping it real, keeping it tight and amazing ambiance very upbeat and keeping everyone entertained .

Marjan W.

Yelp
Fun bar for Thursday night karaoke. Arrive early if you're planning to get a table. Their drinks are unique and a little cheaper than DC and Clarendon. Their bartenders are friendly and table side service is usually not bad unless it's crowded, then it can take a while. Parking is not bad and you can find street parking nearby. I have tried their wings and fries and they're tasty, especially the old bay wings. Overall, I recommend this spot.

Matt F.

Yelp
Nice bar with very nice waitstaff and bartenders. Had a good cheeseburger and beer for under $20 on a Wednesday.

Emily S.

Yelp
Been coming here since the minute I got to the D.C. area. The owner is a delight. The servers are a delight. The karaoke is the best moderated in town. The crowd is friendly and an enthusiastic audience. Random people WILL come up and start talking to you at your table. The food is bar food but good and reasonably priced for what it is. The drinks are reasonably priced and well-portioned. The decor is quirky. Has a nice patio. It does get crowded; be prepared to wait for the bathroom when it's busy. This spot has made a genuine effort to be a go-to, neighborhood gathering place that is open and inviting to people of all kinds. Few places have the same ability to be full of alcohol but simultaneously super welcoming and, in its own way, very wholesome. You can also wear literally anything you want and you will feel perfectly dressed.

Sonni W.

Yelp
Me and my friends spending Sunday brunch at Freddy's. Their first time enjoying a brunch with me at freddy's, and they absolutely loved it! We just found a new tradition! Lol!

Gordon T.

Yelp
Was told we had great ENERGY. Great food and bevs. Our server lit up our ice cube when it went out!

Marc O.

Yelp
Such a hole-in-the-wall kind of bar with both inside and outside seating. Lots of strong drinks and incredibly great service. In the winters, they even have those heater lamps outside. I've been here a few times and have loved it. It also has such friendly people. I have never, ever been to a bar where a bunch of men are so nice and offering me to buy me drinks. I felt like a celebrity! They even took the time to talk to me after a bad breakup and that I should be openminded to new things. I totally recommend this place, and hope to see you there soon!

Ken W.

Yelp
Absolute favorite place to hang out. Amazing atmosphere. Be sure to check out the collection of Barbie dolls. Really fun staff. Don't miss this fun place.

Emily Z.

Yelp
Great place. Fun atmosphere. Good food and strong drinks. Can't wait to return for another night of fabulous entertainment and karaoke fun! ‍

Timothy M.

Yelp
Great spot to hangout with friends or make new ones. The staff is great, bartenders friendly and it's the only bar I know in the area where I know the owner and see him on a regular basis. It's a must visit spot for anyone in the LGBT+ community and their allies.

Joseph S.

Yelp
When walking in you get hit with a blast to the past. This has been a beautiful capsule that encapsulates the liberation of gay culture. As a gay man walking in, it was a warm hug. People were extremely friendly. The wait staff was super attentive. I came here with a couple friends and most of the tables were already reserved. This was telling me that this place was BUSY! I was excited to try the food as I am not a drinker. I ordered the nachos and psychedelic burger while my friend ordered the wings. My friend said the wings were flavorful and tasted phenomenal. It looked very juicy and well seasoned. The nachos were a bit underwhelming. I wish that it had more toppings and it gave me TGIFriday vibes. The nacho cheese was great but I wanted more. The burger was amazing. I would recommend getting this burger as well with cheddar cheese. Definitely give it a try and stay for karaoke too!

Victoria V.

Yelp
Every time I come here I feel at home. So welcomed and so accepted, Freddie's has been there for me in so many ways I don't even know where to start. From drag bingo on Wednesday, to weekend brunch, to a happy hour (4-7pm) cocktail with friends after a long week, Freddie's is there and will never disappoint! This LGBTQ+ and straight friendly bar also has fun karaoke and trivia nights. Everyone who works here is an absolute gem and have great intuition about split checks and orders even when you're in a big group. I personally enjoy the nachos or fried shrimp and the prince inspired purple rain cocktail. Freddie, the owner, is also an incredible person and pillar of the community. Located not too far from the pentagon, this establishment provided a safe space for all service members and has always provided a fun and inviting environment regardless of lifestyle. He regularly hosts fundraisers and events for student scholarships and local LGBTQ+ support groups like AGLA (Arlington-Alexandria Gay Lesbian Alliance). There is nothing more exhilarating than winning one of the raffle drawings at one of these Freddie's events, so I highly recommend you check out when the next one is!

C K.

Yelp
Great time tonight at my favorite neighborhood bar. Food is good and Happy Hour is amazing! Very diverse and welcoming neighborhood bar. Also has the sexiest bartender in DC (Josh). Stop by if you're around! Had an unexpected surprise with a celebrity i the bar - Orlando Jones and entourage showed up.

Mark W.

Yelp
Always a fun welcoming place Food and drinks are good its small not overwhelming .....

J D.

Yelp
The fish and chips was so good. The cocktails were amazing. The entertainment was great. Loved it.

Jen B.

Yelp
Excellent weekday spot to hang out and listen or sign karaoke! Bartenders and servers incredibly friendly. Amazingly cheap happy hour! Surprisingly delicious martinis (not on HH, but worth having two or three)

Jay P.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it feels like a once great place that has lost its charm; it's like your favorite t-shirt being washed a hundred times that has lost its color and vibrancy. Maybe it's the Covid-times that is the result of what it is today. I'd like this place to be renovated - cleaned inside and out, and repainted, etc.; I'd like the food to be hot and better quality (made intentionally rather than made for the masses); most of all, I'd like much much friendlier and kinder staff to work here. This place has potential, still, because Freddie's is unique and rare, but the entire place is outdated, and the staff unwelcoming. I believe Freddie's can be great again, but maybe not in the short term,

Ally C.

Yelp
(I can't remember my Yelp password bc I rarely post reviews on here; I started a new one just to review this place.) I was staying the night nearby and came to Yelp for recs and I am SO glad I did! Seeing all the awesome, positive reviews made it seem like this is a place I would like. But I was wrong. I LOVED IT! As soon as I walked in as a solo (straight) woman/non local, I felt like I'd been a regular for years. James is the best bartender I've had in DMV! Very social, witty, and kept the mimosas coming. If I hadn't had so many I would've stayed all day haha I also enjoyed chatting with Max, and Robert is a hoot! I was there on a Saturday, their brunch spread was great (pictured). They also have a larger Sunday brunch that's $25 and includes 4 mimosas. If I didn't have to catch a flight out of DCA I would've come back for that! They were starting to put up Christmas decorations and it looks like they go all out, so I'll definitely be back next month for my birthday to check it out! Thanks Freddie and staff for a great time!

Jane J.

Yelp
DO NOT RECOMMEND! IF YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN, PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT/SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISMENT! My family and I received horrible service at this place. The waiter was rude and racist and let us know the entire time at this establishment. Everyone that asked the waiter questions about the food, drinks, and events received bad customer service from the waiter's tone to his service he provided! The waiter even had the nerve to charge my card more than what was on my receipt, I checked my account after visiting and noticed he gave himself a big tip that I did not sign for. I have tried to speak with a manager and keep being told he/she will give me call back. At this point, I could care less if I receive a call back from this establishment, they need to fire some employees for the racist remarks and treatment toward African American customers.

Jerome J.

Yelp
Great Bar ..lots of fun and great people, and the staff is very nice too I sisters and I went for our Birthdays,we had a ball.Check it out...

Victoria S.

Yelp
Great brunch and shows. Of course I'm a bit biased bc it's run by a friend, but you can't not have a good time here and the Barbie Doll collection is not to be missed.
