The Best Restaurants In North Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Although it’s one of the top Puerto Rican spots in the city, there’s never a wait at Freddy & Tony’s in Fairhill. This means you’ll feel like you're the guest of honor when you come in for an order of crispy chicken pastelillos or beef stew, white rice, and beans. You can always count on this place for excellent pernil that’s well-seasoned so it has a salty, sweet pop to each bite—it's even better as a sandwich on a long, toasty roll. You’ll encounter families who’ve been here three times this week and friends pulling out rum for piña coladas (it’s BYOB) while they wait for a roasted chicken platter to share." - candis mclean

The 17 Best Caribbean Restaurants In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Although it’s one of the best Puerto Rican spots in the city, there’s never a wait at Freddy and Tony’s in Kensington. Philadelphia’s Best Puerto Rican Restaurants - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Walking into Freddy and Tony’s is like walking into your tía’s house. There are two options here—order takeout at the front register or head a few steps over and seat yourself in the dining room. It’s bustling with the sounds of families chatting, reggaeton, and the hum of a blender mixing up tastiest non-alcoholic piña coladas in town (but don’t forget to bring your own rum). The decor transports you to Old San Juan—the walls are painted in the style of the bright, multi-colored row homes that line the streets of the capital city, complete with roosters and no less than two Puerto Rican flags on each faux house front. Come here for the tender roasted chicken covered in garlic sauce and pasteles de guineo." - carolyn rivera, candis mclean

Service was great and fast. Empanadas are everything, rotisserie chicken falls off the bone and flavorful! Rice and beans are good but heavy on the cilantro flavor which i dont mind. Fried pork was full of flavor. Sweet plantain were delish!! I will absolutely be back.

Google
I order one dozens pasteles. Very disappointed. It tasted like it was mixed with with something else to stretched it, not made of plantain alone. U could see the white grain mixed with the plantain. Reminded me of dog food. Anothet thing. I had no choice of meat, only pork.

The food was edible. I heard that there are two locations maybe the second place is better. Will I return? Probably not.

Food had no flavor, rice had bean with a can of plain tomato sauce, the alcapuria tasted like plastic. The server never asked how we were, the worst service ever I ever received in any restaurant ! Will never recommend, and FYI , I am Puerto Rican too so I’m not just saying that!!!

Freddy n Tony's has been around for years, however 3001 N Front street is the one I go to if i dont want to cook and pick up food. Not the one on 2nd street. Sorree😬 being honest here! If you dont feel like cooking, and are tired, come on over! Great food!🇵🇷

I have tried their food before (never breakfast though) and my family enjoyed it so we were expecting the same when we came looking for Puerto Rican breakfast. We had only been able to take out before (during COVID) but this time we saw a dine-in area which we were happy about. The area is a decent size, very clean and was comfortable (we were the only ones there) The lady serving us was very nice, food came out fairly quickly. Note that this establishment is cash only (I don’t remember if this was the case before it is now) but there is an ATM on site. We were lucky this time parking but I know from before this can be an issue. The breakfast was okay but I think their lunch/dinner menu items are better. The bacon was so good though (crispy, not salty) for both our dishes (bacon, egg, and cheese) and breakfast platter (egg white, bacon, guineos). We also had two coffees and two bottles of water and our bill was $23. I look forward to coming back for their fritura as I had them before!

The food is really good. Prices are great. I went with my family and we had a nice time.
