Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest Around D.C.

"Frederick’s annual Oktoberfest festival takes over the Frederick Fairgrounds with pours of Spaten Oktoberfest, German wines, and local beers from Brewer’s Alley and Smoketown, joined by brats, strudel, pretzels, and schnitzel. The two-day event to benefit local nonprofits runs Friday, September 29 (6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and Saturday, September 30 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $6 to $12 to enter." - Tierney Plumb

Visited on a weekend and still was able to enjoy the rides with the kiddos. The animals was definitely the highlight of our day. The kids definitely learned a lot and was able to pet some of them. The food was great except that some of them was a lilttle bit pricey i suggest to look around since i was able to find the same food for a lesser price ( esp for a big family). But overall the price for the entrance was affordable (better to buy online ahead of time since its cheaper) Be prepared to have cash on hand since not all the food and stall vendors accepts credit card. Plus if you are to park outside the fairgrounds they will charge 10$ flat rate cash. The game booths i think for me was too pricey per game.

This fair was a pleasant surprise for being in a town the Size of Frederick. The variety of food stands was just as I expected. The deserts only stand was different and awesome, I highly recommend the peach dumpling w/ice cream. The ride midway has lots of rides for kids of all ages. The 2 roller coasters at a fair brought back memories from being younger. The number of animal barns and animals were the pleasant surprise. There is also a great variety of other vendors. Did I mention the entire fair grounds is very clean. If you are in the area during the fair and don't go you are missing out.

Went to the fair on Friday 9/12 to see Brantley Gilbert and it was a wonderful experience even though we were in the standing room only section. Audio was great, only downside is drink lines and bathroom lines are long but that's also what you expect when going to concerts.

Pretty basic food choices, none of the locals seemed excited about a favorite food. The police presence was strong, but I guess that's the city. FYI if you walk to your car and then try to go back in, they're not nice about it.

Very nice, we went on a day it didn't cost much. We didn't ride. However we ate. The Peruvian food truck was amazing . Sights and music great !

First Time at The Great Frederick Fair – and WOW! Just went to the Great Frederick Fair for the first time, and let me tell you… I have questions. Why did no one warn me I’d need stretchy pants? Who let the fried Oreos be THAT good? And is it normal to scream-laugh on a ride while holding a corn dog? Asking for a friend. This place is HUGE – like “I-might-need-GPS-to-find-my-car” big. The rides? Absolutely wild. The food? Dangerously delicious. The people? Friendly, festive, and possibly fueled by funnel cake. The concerts? 🔥 10/10, would sing along poorly again. From pig races to monster trucks to lemonade the size of your head, this fair has everything. It was my first time, but definitely not my last. The Frederick Fairgrounds knows how to throw a party... and apparently, a fried cheese-on-a-stick too. 🧀🎡🎶 Catch me there next year, probably lost near the kettle corn stand. 👋

It's the Great Frederick Fair. What more is there to say. Food, exhibits, people watching, I'm not a rider of rides, nor a game of chance kinda person, but those things are available to those that dare. It's starting to get a bit expensive for my taste, but that's the world we live in now. Spend a few bucks and have some fun.
