My wife and I are staying in Fredericksburg for the weekend and decided to pop in to Fredericksburg Brewing for dinner. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the beer selection. For just $14, I indulged in a flight of seven generously sized pours, a fantastic opportunity to sample their array of brews. The Red Ale and the Porter stood out as my personal favorites, each offering a unique and satisfying taste. While the food was generally satisfactory, it had its highs and lows. We opted for the chicken fried steak accompanied by French fries and German potato salad, alongside a Reuben sandwich. Unfortunately, the Reuben didn't quite hit the mark for me. The bread was dense and lacked flavor, which was a bit of a letdown, especially considering the better alternatives available within a short walk. However, the chicken fried steak was a pleasant surprise. It was well-prepared, and my only minor critique would be a preference for warmer gravy. The true gem of our meal was the German Potato Salad--it stole the show with its impeccable flavor, and I would argue it was the best dish we tasted.
The service was top notch, with a good knowledge of the menu and the beer.
Overall, Fredericksburg Brewing offers a cozy and affordable dining experience on Main Street, with its beer selection being the standout feature. Despite some aspects of the food not quite reaching the same heights, the German Potato Salad and the inviting atmosphere make it a place worth visiting.
