NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Coming down with a case of the end-of-summer blues? So, we assume, is everyone at Fred's Dog House, a country-looking bar in Williamsburg with live music, cold beer, and plant-based hot dogs—like a Banh Mi Dog with cucumber, carrots and cilantro. They've got different performers playing in the artistically scuffed-up looking space almost every night, so check their Instagram for event information. " - will hartman

New Moon Acoustic Blues are the only reason I come here and it is a solid venue. Varities of hotdogs to cocktails and beers. A great place to include throughout your night out.

Delicious, authentic vegan hot dogs in pretzel buns 🌭 Delicious cocktails and drinks 🍸 Such a great night at Fred’s Dog House — cozy Brooklyn energy and the music was amazing !

I reached out to a bunch of bars to host around 20 friends for my birthday and most of them came back with insane minimum spends and complexity around payment. I ended up hosting it at Fred’s where they gladly hosted a large group of my friends and family without any stipulations or minimums. The staff were incredibly accommodating to us despite the large party size, even as they got busy. The Old Fashioned was great. I wish they carried Guinness which is my only gripe. There was live blues from 8:30-11:30 which was phenomenal. The atmosphere was lively with lots of other young people without being packed. My friends really enjoyed the vegan hot dogs. I can’t believe I’d never been here before but will be coming back soon and often.

Toppings on the hot dogs were fresh. Great service. I wish they had real hot dogs. The vegan ones had a weird flavor.

It was empty when we arrived at 615 but packed when we left at 8. The cocktails we tried were delicious and the bartender was friendly. The happy hour prices are great and it’s nice to have vegan dogs!

Great night of live Blues music, cozy spot with good vibes, even got in a dance and totally recommend the Bahn Mi hot dog. Doc French & Arthur Nelson on the stage. ❤️

My buddy and I went here Sat April 26th for the first and perhaps for the last time. We generally had a good time with the music and food, but the serving staff was just rude. And I don’t mean that they said something and I took it the wrong way. The muscular man behind the bar with a bald head with a height of 5”7, just chewed us out. When we asked him what was in the hot dogs, which are vegan, he told us they were vegan and walked away. A minute later when we asked him what was inside once more, he came back with a heavy attitude. With a sharpness in his voice he loudly said (wish this was made up) that he did. not. care. His treatment of us in this way continued for the rest of the evening. Attitude alone, or those words spoken without attitude would have been unpleasant but stomacheable, but the combined tone and words spoken made the rest of our evening in the establishment and beyond, fairy uncomfortable. When we mentioned this to the single female bartender on staff (short hair), she offered that, were it any consolation to us, staff misconduct against customers was probably reflective of maltreatment by the owners against them. Strange and in appropriate response. Would be happy to go back once I can be sure the staff treats its customers with respect.

Stopped in on whim and really enjoyed the music. Drinks were average, nothing spectacular or over the top. Overall the service was pretty solid considering how busy it was. We would definitely come in again for another show!

Yelp
Chill place to meet for drinks and a quick bite, or catch some live music. The menu is all animal-free hotdogs, all priced reasonably at $7 each. These are creative upgrades on the standard dead animal street food, and definitely worth a try. I got the Chicago hotdog and Banh Mi hotdog, both very tasty with the latter really ramping it up in the flavour department. Highly recommend the Banh Mi hotdog! Service was friendly and quick too. For those wondering why anyone who doesn't want to eat animals would want food made to resemble the animal version, we like the taste but not the violence! Check out the documentary watchdominion.org for more insight into the matter.
