I stopped into Freebirds in Dripping Springs midday on a Saturday, and honestly… it was such a disappointing experience. Everything in the prep line looked extremely dry and old. Even the employee acknowledged it. My partner wanted the ground beef, but she flat-out told us she wouldn’t recommend it because of how bad it looked. The rice was dry and cold, the ground beef looked old and unappetizing, the refried beans were crusted over on the pan - same with the other sides.
What really shocked us was that she didn’t offer to make anything fresh, didn’t try to fix the issue, and didn’t attempt to salvage the experience at all. She literally let us walk away without suggesting a solution.
I also asked about the cayenne spicy tortilla and whether it actually had a kick, and the answer was, “It’s hard for me to say, I haven’t had it.” If you’re working in customer service and handling food, you should know your product well enough to guide guests and make recommendations.
Overall, nothing looked edible, the service felt indifferent, and it was not the level of quality or hospitality you’d expect. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Definitely disappointed.
