We loved our time at Freehand Cellars! Our server, Kambria, was so friendly and helpful! She made wonderful wine pairing suggestions for our dinner party. We loved being there for a late afternoon of tastings, delicious appetizers, and a dinner menu all complimented with local farm fresh produce and a creative artisan chef! The sunset vineyard views completed our evening leaving our hearts full and all of us checking our calendars to see when we could make it back again! We highly recommend Freehand Cellars!

Google
this is the best place in the Yakima Valley. obviously the scenery is unmatched. but the service is top notch. the entire staff is so friendly and helpful and warm and welcoming to all. The wine is outstanding. it is simply the best place in Central Washington

Google
Great wine and food, fantastic service, and a beautiful view. One of my go-to places in Yakima Valley.

I always appreciate the beauty of the tasting room and surrounding property. Service is always amazing, and the little plate my friend and I just shared was amazing (we need about 5 more, please and thank you! Lol). Can’t go wrong with smoked salmon! Thank you guys!

Google
Freehand Cellars is such a fun experience. We went in June and the weather was perfect. The view of the mountain from right outside the winery is incredible and the grounds are very well maintained. The inside was lively and inviting. Summers in Yakima tend to be hot but we plan to be back in the fall!

Google
Gorgeous setting and good wine. Their food options are really good too! Chicken skewers are a must try. Filled pasta shells and cheese board were also a hit. We went on a weekday and had plenty of seating to choose from. Returned Saturday evening and the place was super packed. They also had live music on Saturday. Beautiful spot to enjoy the sunset overlooking the valley. Overall a great experience!

Google
Horrible wine…horrible service. We decided to try FreeHand Cellars after it changed from Windy Point Winery. You walk in…the first thing they do is confiscate your credit card and put it on file. They said the tasting was going to be 2 full glasses for 25.00 a tasting, you get less than one glass of mediocre wine. We had spent the day tasting at pretty cool boutique wineries ie; Whitman Winery, Cultura and La Pierre. Those wineries were incredible. Years ago we went to this same winery and the customer service was horrible. We had 40+ women in a wine group willing to buy and enjoy their wine, even stayed for lunch. They overcharged us for lunch and then charged us for tasting. We walked out buying nothing. The setting is not worth this service or quality of wine. Don’t bother to spend your money or waste your time at this establishment. They are rude and crude. They don’t even know or explain the wine they are serving. The Yakima wine industry is struggling, trust me this winery will not make it. The people of Yakima county are smarter than this. Do your research. Go to Sheridan, Whitman. La Pierre, Cultura, etc….they will treat you well. Update 2/15/25- they responded back to us regarding our reviews. They said “someone in our group was intoxicated.” No one in our party was intoxicated, loud or obnoxious. They said their manager cut off our party from alcohol and then turned around and served members in our party alcohol. When asked to speak to the mgr,?she wasn’t even in the building to speak to. The table behind us was loud, we couldn’t even hear each other talking. We know now the manager was watching all the patrons on remote cameras because we have confirmation on this from an employee that works there. I guess she harasses them as well. One of the members in our party was recovering from a femur fracture and hip replacement. He was walking without an assistive device. I believe the manager discriminated against us because she confused his ataxic gait with being intoxicated…not cool at all. We also had members in our party that were not drinking any alcohol and they were “cut off.” Bottom line, they will not own up to this big mistake. Treating potential customers poor is really unsatisfactory. We won’t be back. They worry about losing their liquor license. They should be concerned about spreading false information about their customers and violating the Freedom of Disabilities Act.

The wine was good, but the sweet potato pavé stole the show. A special thank you to the chef for taking time to share his technique and for making this experience even more special (and the challenging bike ride worth the while!)

Yelp
Gorgeous place. I really enjoy being at a winery and getting to relax, enjoy some lovely wine in a beautiful setting. It was a very warm or hot day depending on how you feel about temps in the 90's. Me- i see a gorgeous deck offering with a view so outside it is! We decided to order a small plate of grilled harissa chicken skewers with tzatziki, French bread and some fruit from their orchard. The skewers were delicious! Throughly enjoyed the wine and would definitely come back again. The interior is also comfortable and spacious. The staff were gracious and helpful.

Yelp
Horrible wine...horrible service. So we decided to try FreeHand Cellars after it changed from Windy Point Winery. They overcharged us for lunch and then charged us for tasting. We walked out buying nothing. The setting is not worth this service or quality of wine. Don't bother to spend your money or waste your time at this establishment. They are rude and crude. They don't even know or explain the wine they are serving. The Yakima wine industry is struggling, trust me this winery will not make it. The people of Yakima county are smarter than this. Do your research. Go to Sheridan, Whitman. La Pierre, Cultura, etc....they will treat you well. ok...we learned. later the manager Tyra is absolutely crazy...Her reputation in the valley is poor. She sits and watches the customers and employees from a remote camera. And then harasses the employees and customers from her remote camera probably sitting in her damn pj's at home. She is not even on site. If you want to be spied on and have a manager sit and watch you on a camera without a life, then spend your money at Freehand. Personally, I will resort to other options in the valley for wine. Please don't bother with this place. By the way...I have never wrote a review like this. All of my other reviews are positive and honest. We will never enter this establishment again...ever...WASTE OF TIME.

Yelp
We came here after going to another winery. We wanted to try one more place before everything closed (wineries close around 5pm around here). Very beuatiful location with a good view. Staff was very friendly and helped us pick out a good drink. One of us had rose and then other got their summer sangria, both of which were good. We got a cheese plater, which was a little small. Next time I would probably get something else more worth the money. Nice outdoor covered patio. They were getting ready for a private event when we were there, so some areas were off limits. Great for large groups and good indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Superb location and beautiful wines! Gorgeous and exceptional. Everything from their perch overlooking the valley to their bold wines that are yummy right now. Highly recommend a visit!

Tyra B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite wineries in the area! Amazing wine, great food options, and (likely) the best views in the Yakima valley.

Adam D.

Yelp
Beautiful space with beautiful views. I'm pretty particular about my wine, so if I leave a vineyard with a bottle, that is usually a good sign. I travel with a wine case that only holds 12 bottles so I have to be very selective. I left here with a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon. Unlike a lot of vineyards in the region, this one offers a pretty comprehensive food menu beyond your typical charcuterie. The prices of both their tasting fees and wines are very reasonable. Their most expensive bottle appears to run in the high $30s. The staff here is very friendly and offered recommendations for other local vineyards. Dogs are welcome.

Lin M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, service, and food. Some of the red wines can be a little bit more oak flavor if you like more mild red. The white wine is great. Personally not a fan of Rose. During weekdays has a chill vibe than crowed weekend.

Joanne F.

Yelp
Freehand Cellars is in an ideal location. Set atop a hill overlooking vineyards and the valley, the view can't be beat. The tasting room is spacious and the tables well spaced to give a private feel. There were 4 tastings for $20, which is at the top end of price. The wines themselves are well priced. They offer a nice selection of appetizers. We tried the lobster bites, which were presented beautifully and tasted great. Being wintertime, a mulled wine was offered, which was excellent in our opinions. Once at a table everything was served, which is a nice touch. Being most interested in reds, we were pleasantly surprised to taste both a pinot gris and a rose that we preferred over their red choices. Freehand is worthy of a return visit for the view if nothing else.

Yelp
What a wonderful winery in the Yakima Valley. Freehand Cellars is one you won't want to miss in the area, as they offer solid red wines in a beautiful, mid-century modern setting with a ton of space. Before we visited, we contacted Freehand Cellars to see if they needed reservations, which they do not require, compared to other wineries in the area. It made visiting this winery all the easier since we could show up whenever was most convenient for us. We even visited on a Saturday where a wedding took place, and they still allowed guests to visit the winery. My friends and I each did a flight, which included five one-ounce samples, two whites and three reds. I liked that they poured all of the wines in the beginning, so that we could pour the rest ourselves, which allowed us to take our time with the tasting versus feeling rushed to have to finish in order to try the next sample. We also all shared a charcuterie plate, which was a great snack. I liked all of the red wines, but would say the cab sauv was my favorite. For anyone who likes cab sauvs, this is definitely a solid one. You must buy two bottles to waive the tasting fee, which was no problem for us. However, two of my friends and I bought the cab sauv and until we got back to Bellevue did we realize that they gave us a cab franc instead. DOH! That was a bummer, but at least all the red wines are good here.

Sally T.

Yelp
Okay, the wine isn't as good as Owen Roe but it is still pleasant. The small bites make it go down even better. The indoor and outdoor environments are nicely designed and the view is killer.

Yelp
We've known about this spot since it opened, but never seemed to have time to check it out. We finally made it out on a cold/sunny day in early January and it quickly ranked as one of our favorite winery trips! The physical building is beautiful inside and out - it's architecturally pretty stunning with a very warm inside with great seating areas, a fire and lot of windows overlooking the area. Outside, they have a large patio that gazes upon Mount Adams as well as lot of picnic tables in the surrounding orchards and vineyards. There are great options no matter who's in your party! The food here was creative and very good. It's a little pricey, but these days being able to go hang out is totally worth it! The s'mores wear a particularly fun dessert as it comes with a small ceramic bowl of lighter fluid over which you can cook the s'mores. It was an activity for the kids and it made it more interactive for us. The charcuterie board was very nice and the warm goat cheese with honey was particularly good. The pizzas were artisan looking, and definitely personal sized à la old-school Pizza Hut for book it...Yeah, you remember that personal pan pizza as the reason why you would read through 30 bucks or whatever it was that you needed to do to obtain that glory. This is like a fancy version of that, and you don't get it for free because you read some books. Adulting can be hard! We have not sampled a lot of the wines here, but what we've had has been good. The Cabernet Sauvignon was nice, and we've had a couple of their lighter ones in the past and enjoyed all of them. All in all, a great spot to check out any day!

Aanchal J.

Yelp
Wow. This place was awesome. The ambience, the views, the wine, everything is top notch. Icing on the cake was they were serving perfectly spiced, hot mulled wine this month. And the cherry on that cake, they had a "cookie competition" going on the day we went. So we got to eat a bunch of delicious cookies and vote for the best one. Now that's what I call festive spirit. Absolutely loved this place and will return soon.

Tracy A.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous winery, and for me, they check off all of the important boxes. The wines are very good from white to red. They have tastings and waive the cost with purchase of two bottles. Please note it's very easy to sit and drink two bottles with friends on the beautiful lawn or patio with breathtaking views. The buildings itself is a very modern and sleek space. They have a menu with a nice list of nosh that compliments the wine such as charcuterie and flatbread. They sell some of their products inside such as the hot honey and spicy apricot preserves. They also have beer and hard cider for non wine drinkers which is nice for a mixed crowd. They had live music when we were there. They have rooms and hot tubs on air bnb. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Absolutely love this winery!

Deanna F.

Yelp
Great service. Great wines. Great location. We had a very relaxing tasting experience at Freehand Cellars. Will definitely stop in again when in the area.

Michele G.

Yelp
Love, love, love this Winery! We stayed at their AirBnB and had the best time. The tasting room is gorgeous and the property is equally beautiful! The tasting room hosts were so friendly and attentive. The small plates are good too! We will keep coming back!

Débora C.

Yelp
Amazing view and patio to enjoy the wine tasting, good food and local fruit. The service was good too. Highly recommend it

Cindy R.

Yelp
Our server was as fantastic as the views of the valley! The wines were a nice mix of flavors. It's a bit pricey but it is worth the experience!

Rohan T.

Yelp
My favorite place in Yakima! Perfect with kids. Good amount of food and good wines and drinks. Awesome sitting place - inside and out regardless of weather! The food was surprisingly good. The chicken skewers were supple and delicious.

Cory R.

Yelp
Great place in moxee. Owners are so kind and make such great food. Definitely a hit in a quick bite to eat after a long day

Cynthia T.

Yelp
Beautiful views of the valley while trying their wine and food offerings. We had the wine flight, charcuterie plate and the trio of mini Margherita pizzas. Great afternoon in the sunshine at their outdoor tables on the lawn.

Chris S.

Yelp
Profoundly unimpressed with my most recent visit. Brought family to Freehand for the view. Wine was uninspired in a profound way which I kind of expected however I was hopeful for the food which looked quite good from the pictures. Feta pasta was served mostly cold which left it tasting off. Baked Brie was minimally baked and mostly cool making what should have been. Creamy oozy Brie hard and not consistent with what was expected. To top it off We accidentally left our credit card and when I returned I was challenged as to why we hadn't left a tip which I felt was tactless. Gorgeous view. Unimpressive service, tactless challenge and uninspired food with minimal to no attention to serving it correctly. Disappointing for sure with so many high quality other wineries in the valley.

Karen V.

Yelp
What a beautiful setting with a nearly 360 view of the valley. We sat and overlooked the area in total peace. Sat in the hammock. We would come back for sure.

Carol C.

Yelp
Freehand Cellars Amazing Tasting Room! We stopped in at Freehand in Wapato on a Thursday afternoon. The tasting room is phenomenal. It is brand new and very modern. When we mentioned how much we liked the room, the girl who was helping us mentioned that one of the owners is an architect - so there you go. There is also a B & B on the property which is brand new as well. The wines were good. I feel after some time they will be even better. After the tasting my husband and I shared a cab franc out underneath the big shade trees. I did like how the wines were compared to architectural landmarks like the Guggenheim.

Scott S.

Yelp
Easily one of the top three wineries we visited in the Yakima Valley. The grounds are sprawling and gorgeous overlooking the vineyards and the entire valley. The Syrah was our favorite taste of the day, with fruit forward notes and less peppery than most of the Valley's big reds. Bonus for e-car drivers...they have two charging outlets. The only charging option south of downtown Yakima. The perfect place to grab some volts and sip some wine from their grassy patio under the shade of an aging tree.

Sally T.

Yelp
It has a lovely ambiance. The view of Mt.Adams is spectacular. Decent wine and good service.

Elsie R.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere of this place. They have outdoor seating as well. Will for sure be back. Friendly service. I enjoyed their Cabernet Sauv.

Natalie J.

Yelp
Great stop for a nice glass of wine and quick bit to eat. Highly recommend if you're driving by. The view is probably beautiful but the weather made it hard to see.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Delicious wine! My favorite was the cab sauv and the rosè! The view is AMAZING too!! Beautiful place to take pictures and their service is amazing! Very friendly people!

Karla B.

Yelp
Beautiful view, delicious wine and excellent service. $10 tasting or buy a bottle and the tasting is free. So obviously buy a bottle and enjoy it outside, they have chairs and picnic tables.

Garret L.

Yelp
Beautiful setting and great staff. We visited on a sunny afternoon, and the view of the Yakima valley is amazing. Lots of shade under the trees, and plenty of places to sit in the sun. This would be a great winery to visit in the evening as well. Good small plate food options and well priced wines.

Ana B.

Yelp
Terrible, overpriced wine and mediocre service. Took my family for tastings and the staff just gave us all 5 tastings in a different carafes. They didn't explain any of the wines or really talk to us at all. $18 for a terrible wine tasting and they charged 20% gratuity for the group size despite doing minimal work. The view is all they have going for them. Go to any other winery.

H A.

Yelp
Great new winery with spectacular views and tasting facility. This new winery is a must visit. Their price points are very reasonable at around $20-40 for most of their wines. The wine exceeded my expectations for the newer winery. I also like that they have later hours one Friday and Saturday. They staff was also welcoming and pleasant to interact with. I would highly recommend stopping in.

Chuck T.

Yelp
One of the best new wineries in the area. We loved the Cab Franc, the Cab Sav and the Syrah the best. The petit Verdot is worth a taste as well. Tyra is fantastic and a great hostess. After 2 visits we became members. Looking forward to our next visit!

Jessica A.

Yelp
Delightful stop on our way home to Seattle. We were in and out in 30 minutes but it would be a lovely spot to hang out awhile. Tasting fee is affordable and goes toward the purchase of wine.

Uma N.

Yelp
Great place with amazing views, good wine and friendly service. The tasting room is very well done and there are good views from inside as well. They also have a patio area and picnic tables around the property good for families. Really enjoyed their Chardonnay.

Karissa B.

Yelp
Amazing view and great wines! A beautiful place for a wedding or event. You can even stay on site if you're visiting in their accommodating luxury suites. 100% recommend you add this place to your Yakima wine tour.

James D.

Yelp
Freehand Cellars is my new favorite winery in Washington. The tasting room is incredible and the views are unmatched anywhere. Their Cab. Franc is my favorite but be sure to try the oaked Chardonnay as well.

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
Buy as if the wines are futures, and then you'll be happy. The Pinot Gris is standout - dry, crisp, minerally. Great for my palette. Syrah is almost ready to drink. The others just say lay me down and drink me in 6 years.

Marla H.

Yelp
Beautiful winery and excellent wines! The girl who served us was darling and provided excellent customer service. Once someone trains her about the area she'll be set to provide the whole experience. We would have bought more if they shipped to California. Loved the wine and the view!

Ilissa M.

Yelp
Great wine and atmosphere! It's one of the few wineries in town with a comfortable indoor setting to try wine when it's cold outside. The view from inside is gorgeous and the fireplace gives it a cozy feel. There's a great outside area for summer/spring as well. Their Cabernet Franc is a must try!

Emily N.

Yelp
The architecture, the view, the wine.... you can't beat it! Everything is exquisite and peaceful. Definitely come here if you are in town. They have more than wine if cider is your jam. The lawn outback is beautiful and so comfortable to spend an afternoon tasting.

Logan F.

Yelp
I cannot rave about this experience enough! About 15 of us went and didn't call ahead, yet we were welcomed with open arms! The service was fantastic and efficient. We were all from out of town and couldn't find an Uber to the hotel but the owner drove us. Lovely views and lovely wine. THANK YOU

Kimmy V.

Yelp
Loved the experience here! Staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, wines were awesome in the tasting. Best part were the gorgeous views and the architecture of the winery, picture perfect setting. Definitely worth a visit if you like big reds!

Sidney S.

Yelp
We had such a great experience here! We loved chatting with the gals and LOVED their wine. Please try their syrah!

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Great lunch stop. Nice wines at a reasonable price. We particularly enjoyed the Pinot Gris on a nice day and the charcuterie platter made a good lunch on the lawn with our pup.

Sami K.

Yelp
Excellent wine in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous tasting room. My wife and I visited in July 2019 and left with a case. There's an Airbnb (or VRBO, I forget) on the property with two units, both of which overlook the vineyards, valley, and river. A nice gem away from the bustle of Yakima.

Alison L.

Yelp
Wow! Such a beautiful facility and the wine did not disappoint. I ordered a flight and tried their new appetizer, the goat cheese and hot honey. So delicious. I have never enjoyed a Chardonnay and almost passed on it entirely. After they urged me I tried it, and ended up taking it home! Absolutely recommend!

ann t.

Yelp
First time in Yakima for wine tasting. Beautiful vistas of the Yakima Valley. The tasting room is gorgeous; modern with lots of windows and a fireplace place. Great indoor place to enjoy wine even if the weather isn't great. And of course the wine is good, $10 tasting which is credited back if you purchase wine. Would definitely come back!

Rory C.

Yelp
Each of the wines is equally delicious. Oaked, unoaked, white, fruity, you will find it here. Absolutely worth the trip. The view is gorgeous and people are lovely. Even the architecture of the building is worth the trip.
