Freekeh - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Despite existing on the busy 16th and Valencia corridor, it’s easy to miss Freekeh. And you’re likely en route to one of the many other great restaurants in the Mission, anyway. But this roomy Mediterranean spot is worth stopping by, especially if you wind up with a big group last minute—so run to the hidden back patio or relax and people watch out front. The food here is overall solid, and the house sampler is what you want. It’s full of creamy hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, thick muhammara, and tabbouleh. The rest of the menu runs the gambit, from hot Mediterranean tapas and salads to skewers and rolled bites. Stick to the skewers like the flavorful shish kufta (the chicken runs dry across the board), order the jibneh hallumi to start, and congratulate yourself for pulling off that last-minute group meal with great success." - Ricky Rodriguez

Lovely space with friendly staff but all the food was too salty and just meh. I ate with 3 other people and we all agreed we won't be coming back. There's better restaurants for vegans in this neighborhood.

Google
Absolutely DIVINE!!!!! I went yesterday for my best friends birthday and everything we consumed was delicious. I absolutely loved the look, gorgeous murals, vibrant colors, comfortable seating. Then the food! I need to go back asap! The staff was perfectly attentive and so kind, I would 1000000% recommend.

Went here with a friend and we split a ton of dishes! Super cute place to eat out with some tables in the back outside surrounded by cute lights. It was good but I’ve had better Mediterranean food at better prices elsewhere- this place is pricey for pretty small portions so I’d recommend getting more dishes and splitting with friends. They gave a very generous amount of pita bread! My friend’s favorite dish was the falafel wraps and mine was probably the roasted cauliflower. The beet salad was what you’d expect- it was good but nothing more than the sum of its parts. The salmon skewer had perfectly cooked salmon but I think it was missing some seasoning… admittedly, I didn’t use the yogurt so that probably would’ve helped because it’s very plain without it. Definitely some salt on the salmon would’ve been nice.

Google
I’m not a huge hummus fan, but the hummus was creamy, light, and delicious. 👌🏻 The muhammara was good too, but I didn’t really like the baba ghanouj. Manisf rolled bites was also very good so I recommend getting it.

Our party of four came on a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. Neighborhood parking is a bit challenging due to the popularity of the area with all the businesses there, but we found a 2 hr. spot (enforced until 9pm) after a couple loops. We ordered the house sampler plate, shish kabob, beet salad, the zahara bil tahini (cauliflower), halloumi, chicken shawarma, and for dessert, we had kanafeh, qatayef, halawa o buza. Everything, including the complimentary Palestinian dips with pita chips, was absolutely delicious- fresh and beautifully presented. It was hard to pick a favorite but I really liked the cauliflower! Two members of my party ordered a mocktail called Cinderella, and they were raving about it. The food was so good that we forgot to take pictures; we were too excited. I did remember while we were waiting for dessert, so there is one dessert picture in this review. Our server, Lina, was attentive and very kind, and the other servers and staff were also very nice, professional, and polite. It was obvious that the staff wanted us to have a wonderful evening and we truly did. It is a very welcoming restaurant with lovely decor, excellent food and nice people. We can’t wait to come back and try more items!

Google
Just came here for the first time and was really wowed by how delicious the food was! The falafels were so perfectly light and crispy, the chicken shish was well grilled and the freekeh that came with it was so flavorful - I hadn’t had that before and I just loved it! Our server and other staff were super friendly and patient with our difficulty choosing what to order! Everything sounded so good, I am definitely coming back soon to try other menu items.

This Palestinian-inspired cuisine stands out as a fresh and unique gem among the vibrant food scene of Mission/SOMA area. The service was warm and shines as one of the most authentic parts of the dining experience — it almost felt like eating at someone’s Middle Eastern Uncle’s home. We were offered complimentary chips and a trio of dips, as well as a post-meal cup of light Mediterranean tea. Talk about an authentic experience! At the recommendation of our waiter, we ordered the Zahara Bil Tahini (warm cauliflower), Kufta, and Rolled Chicken Shwarma (this was more than enough food for two grown men). A great sign of a good meal is when we can’t decide which dish was the favorite — everything was just that good. If I had to choose one, I’d probably say the kufta stole the show, but the Zahara Bil Tahini and Chicken Shwarma were close seconds. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, culminating in a 10/10 dining experience. For those curious, freekeh is durum wheat grain prepared as a side dish in Palestinian cuisine (somewhat similar to rice) with a hearty, smoky flavor. We enjoyed trying the restaurant’s namesake, but it definitely performed as supporting actress to the incredibly flavorful meats and warm tapas that accompanied it. Overall, we were excited to try Palestinian food here in SF, and will definitely be back again soon. Shukran!

Google
I love when places have a sampler platter and this was a good one. Each of the options was great and varied. The falafel was crispy and well spiced, the hummas was creamy and had a sauce on it that cut it with acidity nicely. The eggplant dip was rich and the walnut dip was complex. All of it went well with the bread to the point that I wished we had gotten more for dipping. The atmosphere was perfect. It had good lighting, great design without being too much. It seemed like it gets cold inside sometimes but they gave heaters above the seats for that. The service was friendly and quick as well. They answered all our questions well and with great recommendations.

Yelp
Delicious and unique food! Would definitely come back here. We didn't need reservations on a weekday and were able to get a table on the back patio. The ambiance was amazing, with beautiful decor.

Yelp
We came here on a weeknight and did not have a reservation but were able to walk-in when it opened. Not sure you can always do that given how busy this place got the later in the evening it got during the course of our meal. We ordered the baba ganoush and pita, falafel rolls, salmon and freekah, and lentil soup. We also received a side of complimentary pita chips and dip and we ordered two desserts which were quite tasty. Our friend and my partner also paired a glass of wine that was purchased from Palestine, and they said that it was very good. The complimentary chips and dip were very good and fresh. The baba ganouch was good, and the pita was standard a bit warm. The falafel rolls were fine, but nothing special. My partner really liked the freekah and salmon, and he said the salmon was grilled to perfection. Overall, this restaurant serves delicious food and has very nice outdoor seating in the back and also in the front.

Yelp
The whole menu is made to share! Appetizers that sounded familiar were deliciously different! Red pepper walnut dip is spicy and sweet! Babaganoush is somehow light. Freekah, a grain I have cooked at home, is chewy and flavorful. Chicken kebabs are well seasoned. We were welcomed warmly and served quickly. They explained each dish when they brought it out helping us to recall what was on our sample platter for example! The back patio felt as if we were in a friend's home. It was comfortable and quiet enough for conversation. Finally, prices seemed reasonable especially for this neighborhood.

Yelp
Cute spot! Nice staff too. I love middle Easter food and this was tasty and delicious. I ordered a Turkish coffee (great!) I was told mine was the last one. We shared the Jerusalem breakfast which had egg salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, grapes, strawberries, pita bread, hummus, labneh, oil, and zaatar. All very good and was a good portion size. My friends also ordered a Kufta wrap. They were kind to let me taste it and wow it was full of flavor. The garlic sauce was great. Dog friendly and have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking near by on 16th and Hoff. I'd come back again!

Yelp
I always pass this place and felt so drawn to its authentic ambiance so I finally tried it out. The restaurant is gorgeous. And the food is definitely fun. Come with a group! Appetizers: We got the house sampler, jibneh halloumi (AMAZING you have to get), jawaneh chicken wings, and bamia bil bandorah. All totally yum! Entree: Jambari skewer, musakhan, and mansaf. I think the entrees were alright, not a lot of flavor so maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Also I would definitely recommend family style eating here. Makes the most sense with portions / types of food! Service was pretty slow. We were a table of 6 so it's understandable at times, but we didn't have our water canteen filled once, none of us received drink refills and we had to constantly flag our waitress down for any service. Overall this place has great ambiance but the food and service did not live up to what I would've wanted.

Yelp
The server was amazing! We walked in and we're seated in the back patio, as the evening was coming to a close. Our server was very helpful and explaining the different dishes, and we went with a starter platter as well as the salmon, chicken, and beef skewers. They were delicious, and they good size for the price. We were able to take some as leftovers, and enjoy them the next day as well. The baklava is served with ice cream on top, and delicious! We will absolutely be back to try more items.

Yelp
Great food! Reasonable prices! Quite diverse menu, great atmosphere and most pleasant staff! Shakshuka is head and shoulders better than Manny's

Yelp
I had a nice dinner with girlfriends here. Reservations made online a month in advance for a Thursday at 6:30pm for five people. They weren't crazy busy so we probably could have walked in. $52.12 per person for 3 cocktails, 2 non alcoholic drinks, 4 starters, 3 entrees, and one dessert.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant serving middle eastern/palestinian bites, and busier than I expected on a Tuesday night. Service was sufficient with no delays less than an hour before closing time, despite most tables being full both inside and in the patio out front. Our food was ready in about 10-12 minutes. We ordered kufta skewers with garlic sauce instead of tahini (beef and lamb kabob with onions, parsley, and mediterranean spices), shish tawook skewers (grilled chicken breast), zahara bil tahini (cauliflower mixed with tahini and spices), jibneh nabulsi (salty grilled cheese, atop a very thin cracker). Everything was remarkable and full of flavor, there isn't a single item we weren't impressed by. I especially liked the muthawama garlic sauce which wasn't too garlicky and had a consistency like whipped butter, perfect for dipping the chicken pieces as well as the pita bread that came on the side.

Yelp
This was my first time at a Palestinian restaurant. The flavors were similar to Mediterranean cuisine (Greek, Turkish) but there were some interesting dishes I hadn't tried before. So glad to have tried it. A few things to call out: House sampler - nice way to try a lot of the appetizers. Normally I'm not a fan of tabbouleh, but this one was delicious. Not overly parsley forward. The pita was great as well, though we had to ask for another basket to finish all the dips. Chicken Shawarma - our favorite! The chicken was tender and flavorful and we loved the garlic sauce. Mansaf - many others called this one out so we had to try it. Maybe it was just a bad day but the lamb was quite gamey, so gamey that the spices couldn't cut through. Disappointing. Kanafeh - depending on which part you ate, it was either delicious our cloying sweet. Wish they had a lighter touch in the honey.

Yelp
Cool spot! Loved the decor and vibe; food was also not too expensive and tasty! Definitely will be back for catchups in the future.

Yelp
I came with my friend after making a dinner reservation for Sunday evening. The host and wait staff were generally pretty helpful and efficient. We ordered the Mansaf, Zahara Bil Tahini, and Freekeh. In general, I would say that the food was good but not particularly memorable. The cauliflower felt a little soggy and oily, but the flavor was good. I liked the lamb in the wrap was yummy, but the wrap itself was cold and fell apart super easily. The freekeh was just standard grains. They also gave a free side of pita, which I appreciated but was also just okay. We ordered based on what our server recommended and what we saw was popular, but maybe we just didn't order the right things? That being, I really liked the ambiance. I feel like it had a cool aesthetic going on without trying too hard, and I could see myself wanting to come in a larger group to try other things on their menu. Their bathroom was also super high tech which I found entertaining.

Yelp
Really nice Middle Eastern restaurant on the North end of the mission. Made a last minute reservation and got a table in their cool back courtyard. Really nice environment. Generally officious service.... could have been a lot nicer in general and more responsive, but functional and efficient. Greek salad was great.... chicken schwarma wrap was pretty dry.... no hummus on the brunch menu, but glad they did that for us anyway as it was really great. Strange / unnecessary QR code interface to the bathroom.... when there's a sister restaurant nextdoor with a normal bathroom... Good spot if you're in the neighborhood, but probably not a destination...

Yelp
First off the ambience was fantastic and the service was attentive. We especially loved the house hummus and dips with the chips. The kebabs were flavorful and not dry. Personally I love shish tawook since I'm a garlic girly so would recommend that for garlic lovers. For dessert we had the knafeh which was perfect texture Will be back

Yelp
This place is a must must try! We ordered the Bamia Bil Bandorah (so tasty! Chunky tomatoes and perfectly cooked okra bits), Jibneh Nabulsi (a bit too salty for my taste), Salata Albinjar (delicious! beets and arugula a winning combo), Musakan (really liked the consistency of the chicken and toasted almonds as topping really brought out the flavor, and Mansaf (the lamb was a little too salty as well but I think ours was missing the saffron rice?) BUT the best thing I love about this place was the vibes! Dim lighting in an outdoor, heated seating and an airy inside area as well. Servers took great care of us as well! :)

Yelp
I'm pleasantly surprised. The reviews convinced me to give it a try and we did - I came out a different man. nuttiness (pause) to your meal is a whole other dimension to food! The 2 diff sauces for the Masahkan vs. the Kufta skewers looked similar but tasted diff. The sampler with the Baba ganoush and hummus also looking similar but diff texture and oils made them their own dish. I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of the rice with the skewers - maybe a bit dry for my taste but I'm glad I tried it. Side note, they have the most high tech bathroom experience I've ever experienced I'm talking automatic doors, online waiting lists, touchleas toilets the WHOLE shabang

Yelp
Wow the food here really is incredible and I loved everything about my dinner experience here. The restaurant is beautiful, and the servers were all attentive and great with providing suggestions to our group. The offered some complimentary chips and dips which was great, and we started off with the house sampler - everything in the sampler was delicious, and it's hard to pick any stand outs because they really all were great. We then had the Zahara Bil Tahini (cauliflower) which was also great - the size of the florets was great, and the seasoning was perfect. For our mains, we had the Kufta which was by far my favorite dish of the meal. The meat was SO flavorful and the sauce and rice that came with it were wonderful accompaniments. When I come back I will definitely order this again. We also had the Chicken Shawarma rolls, which were also delicious. I loved that the rolls were perfectly bite sized and packed with flavors. Definitely another highlight of the meal. We split a bottle of Rose, which was great but nothing amazing. Overall an amazing restaurant with amazing staff, and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing owners, super nice! The ambulance is super cute. It's actually really big if you walk inside, there is a back seating spot and in front there's also seating. Also, there is a separate whole area next-door as well. Great for a group of Friends. The food was a 10 out of 10. Everything that came out was delicious. Great portions, great way to share different items with other people. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
What an absolute gem! Came here for date night and we were blown away by the ambience, service and food. It is beautifully decorated and felt very cozy and homey. The service is amazing! The waitresses were kind and when serving food, explained exactly what everything was. We started off with complimentary pita chips and 3 dips. For apps, we ordered the jibneh halloumi - cut up into small pieces and juicy. We also ordered the house sampler - muhammara and baba ganoush stood out, but the falafel, hummus and tabouleh were delicious too. This was served with soft fresh pita bread. For our mains, we ordered the shish tawook - the portion of this was smaller than i expected. It was 4-5 pieces of chicken, served with a skewer of baby onions, tomatoes, a small scoop of freekeh and a garlic dip. The chicken was stellar, very juicy and flavorful and the garlic dip was delicious and creamy. We also ordered chicken shawarma - the meat was delicious and the sauce was incredible too. Since it was cut up into smaller rolls, it made it easy to share. At the very end of our meal, we were served complimentary decaf arabic coffee which was the perfect touch. Overall, the food was more than enough for two people and all the flavors were incredible. We were here on a wednesday night and did have a reservation but walk in would have probably been fine as well. A lovely place and we will be back soon!!!

Yelp
There are a good amount of Mediterranean places to try in the city, and Freekeh is definitely one of them! It's named after the wheat they use in Palestinian cuisine, and had a bunch of options to try based on whether you are craving more food or less food. More like tapas style. The decor was really beautiful and would make for a great date night! We got the house sampler and the falafel pita wrap bites. The sampler was pretty good, had hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, muhammara, and tabbouleh. The baba ghanouj and muhammara were the most flavorful I have had, with the hummus being good. The falafel also were crispy and fresh. The pita that they served with it was not good at all as they were dry and hard, might have been the batch that we got. The falafel shareable wraps were bite sized and tasty, highlighting the falafel well. We also got the Cinderella drink, which was a little diluted to my liking. We were glad we got to try a Palestinian styled restaurant with tapas style as well to be able to try different items. I am excited to try more of the dishes next time!

Yelp
Was so excited to try this place when I saw it on Yelp and brought a group of 6 friends (a few who are vegetarian) over for lunch on a weekend. It was pretty dead inside but decor is really nice and the servers were also friendly and patient with us as we decided what to eat. Overall, the food we got was all pretty flavorful but we still left hungry after getting 8 dishes :( The dips in the sampler were all very good, and their meet for schwarma was all seasoned well. The falafel was also really standout (nice and crispy on outside, moist and delicious filling). The pita / wraps (the skins) were generally not very good imo (pretty flaky and hard). I think this was a more upscale experience than our group was looking for, so maybe part of the reason why it was just so-so - but the portion size is small. So just match your expectations accordingly!

Yelp
incredible mediterranean food in the heart of mission! everything was absolutely incredible. i ordered the house sampler, bamia bil bandorah, and falafel shrak roll. in the house sampler, my favorites were the falafel and muhammara. it came with pita bread. the okra was also cooked very well, i would definitely get it again. the shrak rolls were delicious but in my opinion were pretty small portions for the price. the falafel and stuffings were super delicious though! overall, i'd recommend freekeh and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
VEGAN REVIEW Fresh & flavorful! So many vegan options. Split a bunch of dishes: sampler, ful, cauliflower & veggie musakhan. Split the crepe for desert. Everything was amazing. Fun cocktails. Good service. Lovely ambiance. Definitely recommend for an omni group, there is something for everyone

Yelp
Hmmmm, this is a tough review. I like the concept and the service but I found the food to be rather bland. The waiter was great. He took the time to explain everything. The complimentary chips and three dips were nice as was the complimentary coffee at the end of the meal. We ordered the arabic salad, the side of falafel and the chicken schwarma rolled bites. The salad was definitely the highlight. We shared one but i could have easily eaten a whole one by myself. I didn't love the tahini though i did enjoy the falafels. The chicken in the rolls was bland. I tried adding the garlic butter but it tasted a tad pungent to my palate. If you want authentic Palestinian food this may be your best bet.

Yelp
Amazing Mediterranean restaurant serving some really tasty dishes. I'm vegetarian so I got the veggie musakhan and muhammra. Both were delicious! Very flavourful. The restaurant itself is very cozy and service is super friendly. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ordered to go via uber eats. The chicken kabob and Salmon kabobs were very tasty but the rice portion that came with it was very little, felt like I got two table spoons of rice. The falafel was a miss, I'd skip on that.

Yelp
As someone who's spent time in the West Bank, I loved seeing all the Palestinian representation at this restaurant. At the start our friendly server brought out a platter with complimentary pita chips and 3 kinds of dips (which she said were local to the Gaza Strip) - everything tasted great! All the of the small plates we ordered (jibneh halloumi, labneh, falafel, baba ganoush) were excellent - the falafel in particular stood out - I'm pretty sure this is the best falafel in the Bay Area! For the mains, the wraps we ordered were hit or miss so we'll probably get the skewers next time. We had to leave without trying dessert - the kunafeh looked great so we'll definitely be coming back to try that!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and varied meal at Freekeh! Everything on the vegetarian platter, from falafel to baba ghanoush, was so fresh and tasty. The complimentary sauces were all exquisite too with flavors I have never had before. Covered patio area was lovely to sit in! Drinks a bit too sweet. Will definitely return.
google avatar

Therese S.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was SO good - perfect options for all dietary restrictions, great for sharing amongst a big group of people. The outdoor seating area was really spacious and great for our large party. Service was great and fast as well. Definitely coming back

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Some hits and some missed on food. Came to Freekeh on a whim. We were able to get seated outside right away. The heated lamps were more than adequate on a not too cold evening. The meal started out well with smiles and friendly vibes from the staff. The complimentary chips with the 3 dips were appreciated. The cauliflower with tahini was simple, but delicious and the warm pita was nice and fluffy. The mansaf lamb + rice wraps didn't really work unfortunately. It's a dish that you want to like, but it had several issues. Assembly wise, the filling was squished out and fell out when you took a bit. Texturally, the shredded lamb and rice on the soft side didn't really provide much contrast. Flavorwise, it didn't really pop. Even with the sauce there was just not much to it. I'll come back to try a few more small plates if I'm in the area. Maybe.

Yelp
I had never heard of Freekeh until I saw someone post about it on social media, but they definitely deserve more publicity. The food was delicious, and I loved the homey, cozy vibes. My friend and I arrived around 645pm on a Friday and were able to get seated on the patio without a reservation - they have strong heat lamps too, so no need to worry about the chilly SF air. We asked our server for recommendations and ordered from nearly every section of the menu lol which turned out to be kind of a lot of food for the two of us. One thing to note is that there are nuts sprinkled throughout the menu, so those with allergies will need to be careful. - Chips and sauces: instead of the usual chips and salsa in the mission, we got to try some new sauces! I don't remember what was in each one, but I liked the red salsa best bc it was actually spicy. - Hummus: this was good but not my favorite - it has more of a grainy texture whereas I prefer a smooth hummus. I don't know what the green oil in the middle was (didn't taste like olive oil to me) but it was sooo good! The pita basket came out fresh and warm too. - Zahari bil tahini (fried cauliflower): I normally hate cauliflower but fry any vegetable and I'm likely to eat it lol. This was a very light fry so it didn't feel too heavy, and the tahini was so flavorful that I actually really liked this dish. - Shish tawook (chicken breast skewer): this comes already removed from the skewer so it's a bit easier to eat. The spices were so fragrant and the char added even more dimension to the flavors. I do wish it was a bit more tender, but such is the challenge with chicken breast. There was a small scoop of freekeh as well, which we had both never had before - it kind of reminded me of brown rice. - Mansaf shrak roller (spiced lamb rolled in flatbread): I've never had lamb that tasted like this before! You could tell it's lamb but it wasn't gamey. There are so many textures and flavors between the meat, rice, flatbread, and yogurt sauce, but they all blend well together. Service was warm and friendly, and the overall ambiance was very nice. We were one of two tables seated in the front patio, so noise wasn't an issue at all, but inside seemed quiet enough for conversation too (from what I heard when the door would open). This would be a good spot for dinner with friends or a date; if you have a larger group, I would recommend making a reservation. I'll definitely be back to try more from this Palestinian-owned restaurant!

Yelp
Great restaurant for Palestinian / Lebanese food. We tried some of the dishes for the first time ever including freekeh. It is a family run restaurant so the servers were very helpful and sweet and friendly. Loved the platter for shared appetizers. Also really enjoyed the lamb wraps.
google avatar

Josh L.

Yelp
Freekeh is exactly what I hoped it would be. The staff is great, the outdoor seating in front is warm, and the music is bumping. All in all, the vibes are phenomenal. The food is the main attraction as it should be. And it is fast so feel free to come hungry. Just about as soon as our server walked away, she walked back with the house sampler - creamy hummus, smoky baba, rich muhammara, tasty falafel, parsley heavy tabbouleh and warm peta means you're off to a great start. Follow that up with a Mansaf and you're in for a treat - tasty lamb and rice with enough sauce to drown it in and all of it piping hot.

Yelp
Incredible Palestinian family owned restaurant with great plates to share. I would highly consider this as a spot for any large celebration dinners. They have outdoor dining on the front and back patio. Additionally the interior design is so cozy and warm. The service was quick and super amiable. I highly recommend the house sampler to try a bit of all the dips (my favorite was the slightly spicy muhammara dip). Can't go wrong with any of the skewers and the shrak rollers are delicious and already split into smaller pieces and plated to perfection.

Yelp
Freekeh is a great Palestinian restaurant just off of Valencia St. the service is friendly and the restaurant is cozy and everything is delicious! It's incredible food featuring Palestinian specialties that I haven't seen at many restaurants in San Francisco. The portions are large and prices reasonable. This is going on my list of staple restaurants in the city!

Yelp
Loved the ambiance , the subtle music and the food! Absolutely delicious food. Would recommend everyone to try this out! The lamb was very well cooked! The chicken kebab was finger licking. One of the bests I have had!! Loved the kunnafeh dessert( very very heavy even when split between 2) .

Yelp
Freekeh was more than just a Mediterranean or Middle Eastern restaurant; its food invoked my imagination! Having plenty of bites was enough to make me feel like I'm dancing with the stars during the warm summer night in the middle of the desert. Before that, I adore the authentic decorations around me; beautiful with many different colors and designs. I like the background Arab music; they keep me excited. The people working here were family owned and they're passionate about the food they made. I couldn't wait to try what they were making, especially the crunchy pita chips in three different dips! The Palestinian salsa looked like Mexican salsa, except it tasted mild, which is good for me. Cinderella was my best mocktail which was as fruity sweet as a fairytale character every good child adores. Jibneh Nabulsi, a Palestinian white cheese, was so chewy and filling. But I still had the main course, which was the impossible meat kufta. Meatless meals are the best! It's not just so absolutely good for a consumer, but good for our planet! I adore its spicy aftertaste though. The meatless kufta wasn't only the star on the wooden plate; the sand castle style grain rice with chopped up nuts on top, it's the name given to the restaurant for us to see. Wouldn't say it's filling; so instead, it's grainy. I have many places throughout the big city I'm itching to go to. As far as Freekeh goes, my experience there definitely etched well in my memory.

Yelp
We ordered the house sampler, shish kabob and the mansaf. The mansaf was my favorite. The outdoor patio is also super cute and there are heaters which is nice for cold SF nights.

Yelp
A cute and intimate little restaurant tucked away in the Mission District. The lighting is very dim and many of the tables are suitable for 2-4 people. Here is what I recommend: + Kufta (5/5): Fragrant and flavorful! If you like sausage, this is a must order. Though the portion is small, it's nice to share. It pairs with their freekeh, which is OBVIOUSLY really great too. + House Sampler (4/5): Good to share. The hummus is SO GOOD here. Seriously.. perfectly thick and creamy! I like that they add cherry tomato and cucumber. Muhammara was also a favorite amongst our table. I'm biased... Not crazy about tabouleh (I'm sorry). The falafel was also average.. FYI they also charged $2 per extra falafel! + Kanafeh (3/5): I have had this dessert dozens of times, and I have never had it sour like the one here. It was still sweet, but had an odd tangy aftertaste I disliked. Worth a try, but strange. + Chicken Shawarma Rolled Bites (5/5): You can't go wrong! Perfect size to dip in the toum (garlic sauce). If I'm being picky, I wish there was more chicken though.

Yelp
I've had this place saved for years and finally got the chance to try it out! We got sat out on the back patio which is cutely decorated. We started out with the jibneh halloumi (like a salty cheese), Zahara bil tahini (cauliflower tapa) and the house sampler (so we could try a bunch of the classic tapas). I enjoyed the variety of flavors as every bite I took was different. Definitely recommend the house sampler if you want to try a little of everything! I did end up taking some of everything home as leftovers and they still tasted amazing. We also had the chicken shawarma rolled bites which were super yummy. The toum dip that came with it was a perfect pair for the shawarma. So definitely recommend this dish as well!! Everything is shareable and small plates as it is a tapas place, so keep that in mind if you are looking to come here. The service was also great! We got our food soon after ordering and they even explained what everything was which was super nice. Overall great place to enjoy some Mediterranean tapas!

Yelp
I really did not enjoy my meal. It was too heavy on the salt. I also did not feel like the environment was comforting or welcoming.

Yelp
Best falafel balls in the bay! Everything I've tried so far has been outstanding but in the notoriously competitive world of falafel balls, Freekeh reigns supreme.

Yelp
Delicious food! We got the vegetarian house platter and the veggie musakhan rolls. They were both so good!!! Savory and flavorful. The ambiance is also nice and cozy - good for dates, families, or catching up with friends. The staff was also so friendly. I definitely want to come back here and try more of the menu!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place but the food was very mediocre! I hope the owners read this review and make some changes: 1. Hummus was watery and lacked texture 2. Baba Ghanooj was very dry and had so much garlic that it's all you taste. Also needed some olive oil 3. Nabulsi cheese - you might want to consider boiling this a bit before you serve it to reduce some of the salt. Salty cheese is great but this was extra salty & not enjoyable. And I know what a nabulsi cheese should taste like. 4. Shish kebab lacked seasoning

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Freekeh since I flagged they had Kanafeh on their menu. We had a very enjoyable group dinner (5 people). The service was very friendly, the back patio was fun to sit at, and the food was delicious. The staff provided recommendations on popular and their favorite items. The House Sampler was great for trying a variety of their Mediterranean appetizers. I loved the Muhammara and Babaganoush - I would order larger portions of those the next time I come. Jibneh Nabulsi (grilled Palestinian cheese) was so salty and delicious. Could've eaten a whole plate by myself. Mansaf with spiced lamb was excellent and so flavorful! Kanefeh was everything I'd hoped for. Baked phyllo with cheese and honey syrup for a perfect light sweet finish. Skip/order something else next time - Chicken shish kabab and the cauliflower. These were fine but not my favorites.

Yelp
The food here is pretty unique, has its own twist to Mediterranean food and the people are really nice. Can be a bit expensive

Yelp
Great restaurant for more of an upper dinning experience. The food is a little more experience and the quantity is very small, so be prepared to have to order a bit more or be left hungry. The service was good and they were attentive and the overall inside is decorated well. This is a good Mediterranean restaurant but I feel like the price was a bit much for the food quantity that it made it not worth it for me.
