We had not been in a while so we were glad that standards had been maintained. The attention by the staff is second to none without being intrusive. The food is exceptional and it came through at a steady pace. Recommended for that special occasion as it is in the higher price bracket but the quality of the food is worth it. Probably need to put a map on the website of where to park as I came around the front and should have gone to the back.

Great food for the price on the set menu. Our waitress was excellent, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The man that seemed to be manager spouted some nonsense about a drink that I knew to be wrong. Portion sizes are bang on. They're dog friendly, cosy, and there are some great walks nearby. It's definitely worth a trip.

We usually eat here and have a good experience but today we were left sorely disappointed. Sunday menu food both starter and main was far too salty, we ate our food out of not wanting to waste and not because we enjoyed it. It could have been a matter of taste but all members of our group shared the same sentiment. The presentation of the food was well done at least. Servers were very inattentive - It felt like a self service restaurant at times. Mashed potatoes missing from one of our group members roasts and there was no way to tell the servers because they never came to ask how our meal was. By the time a waitress came we’d already had enough of our meals thus no recourse was provided. Temperature was far too hot upstairs - though I appreciate this can be hard to control with an old building. Nevertheless, we could’ve been sat near a window at least. Overall felt very disappointed. One member of our group spoke to the staff about this but they were not interested in hearing from us.

Went here for dinner and the food didn't disappoint! It was lovely. We had brioche bread which was delicious. I had soup as a starter which was really nice and the venison as a main. It was in a suet pudding style and was lovely and rich 😋. The chocolate pudding was excellent too. Very reasonably priced and nice welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Unfortunately only took 1 photo as we were too busy enjoying the food.

The room was amazing, absolutely gorgeous. Only missing some bubble bath for the bath. The food was very nice and tasty, however I have allergies and this was made clear throughout yet three times I was served food with nuts in and I had to ask each time if it is safe for me. I understand maybe one mistake but three times was too much. So if you have allergies you need to be vigilant. Ps. One of the courses we didn’t even receive a substitute.

Why does this not have a Michelin star?! Best food we have had in years. Better than a number of restaurants with stars we have eaten at in the last couple of years. Food exceptional, staff friendly and knowledgeable ambience lovely. Generous portions for such establishments, with additional snacks. Struggled to decide our favourite dish as always were off such high quality and so so tasty. Rooms were gorgeous. Spacious and so tastefully decorated. Perfect in all senses - great break at a very good price. Michelin - give them the star they deserve!

Absolutely incredible stay celebrating our anniversary. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. The room was stunning, the food was delicious. Couldn't fault our visit at all. The breakfast is extremely special too, I didn't think I'd be able to manage a 4 course breakfast but didn't want to leave a crumb. Will definitely return and couldn't recommend more highly.

I cannot recommend this place enough. This was the best dining experience I have had in a long long time. The food was exceptional, the staff helpful and friendly and the accomodation was outstanding. The breakfast was like another tasting menu! Worth every penny and we will be returning
