Freemasons

"This delightful pub is tucked down a narrow lane in a lovely Ribble Valley village. Downstairs it’s all flagged floors, low beams and open fires, while the antique-furnished upstairs is a little more elegant. Chef-Owner Steven Smith has his own distinct style, often blending numerous flavours, textures and cuisines in one dish – steamed sea bass with Thai mussel curry and tempura tenderstem broccoli, for example. For something a little different, explore the experiences available in "Mr Smith's", like the chef's table and the kitchen bench." - Michelin Inspector

From the warm welcome to the exceptional service and delicious food, everything was spot on. This place delivers simple pub classics cooked to perfection—with a touch of vavavoom that really sets it apart. Every detail felt thoughtful, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet full of charm. We enjoyed it so much that we’ve already booked our next visit. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience. Came a few years ago, great food but lacked the staff friendliness and atmosphere! What a wonderful experience. The front of house charm matched the talent and execution of the kitchen team! What a wonderful experience. Thank you Freemasons. We will be back! Lots of appreciation, Ollie and Adam from Tubbs

Such a Warm and Wonderful Pub! What an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived at Freemasons at Wiswell, we felt completely at ease. Andrew welcomed us with such genuine warmth, it honestly felt like visiting an old friend. The whole atmosphere was cosy, relaxed, and full of character. One of the most special moments was when Andrew remembered I’d mentioned we were celebrating my partner's 50th. Without any prompting, the team surprised us with a beautiful little birthday plate—treats, a candle, the whole works. It was such a thoughtful touch and really meant a lot. Just one of those little things that makes you feel truly looked after. The service all evening was spot-on, super friendly and professional without ever feeling stuffy. Every single member of staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. And the food... wow. Just incredible. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented, it’s clear there’s a lot of love and talent in that kitchen. Without a doubt, I’ll be coming back and I can’t wait to bring my family and friends to show off how amazing this place is. We’re so lucky to have such a stunning little pub like this nearby!

Visited the freemasons yesterday for a meal and an overnight stay with family. We had the 'taste of freemasons' taster menu with the optional wine flight. The food was exceptional, there wasn't a mouthful we didn't enjoy. The accompanying wines were also excellent and well chosen. The staff were attentive & very welcoming throughout our stay. The accommodation was marvellous; spotlessly clean, quirky and very comfortable. The breakfast next morning was excellent too. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here yesterday. This is a lovely building in a beautiful village with friendly staff. Food was very good and well seasoned as well as being beautifully presented. Lovely toilets. Parking is on the roads around the village but we had no difficulty finding somewhere.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch! It was so tasty, every part of it seasoned well and full of flavour. The starters and the snacks were also delicious. We will definitely return!

I went there for my mum’s 70th birthday with my wife and 8 month old daughter. Andrew and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. We had the tasting menu which was delightful. Great selection and well balanced. The cask ale was a moorhouses. Good temperature and a well kept beer. They had a couple of English sparkling wines too. Again, excellent. Will be back very soon.

From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. We booked an overnight stay with the tasting menu, food was great, staff were great and Andrew, the manager’s hospitality took it to another level. Ive never felt more welcome in a restaurant ever and the anniversary plate and ice left outside our door was a lovely touch…..your staff are a credit to you.
