Absolutely the greatest cycling shop I’ve ever been to. What a fantastic group of people. I had a small repair needed on a front wheel. Just a tube and they did it in under 9 minutes. As a customer, I have more patience for incontinence than I do completely lacking integrity. I found this shop to be impossible to deal with and I think based on my interactions here they are not truthful when dealing with customers. I am thankful that direct to consumer bikes are easier to purchase and have better value and then I've begun making my own repairs at a community bike shop for free. I've read after my negative experiences here at freewheeler, that the next generation has taken over the family business and it may not be run like it was when I shopped there 35 years ago.

I really enjoyed this shop. The customer service is always very good and the employees are very knowledgeable. They gave good advice and recommendations which is always really helpful. Their store has a ton of stuff there and good quality products. I'd recommend this as a great bike shop in the grand rapids area. Highly recommend.

Found this gem at a garage sale this morning and the tires were flat — brought it here and Pat got me right. Like — within minutes. Very grateful to be riding around again. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs repair or new wheels. 🤝

We are fortunate enough to have a lot of great bike shops in Grand Rapids. Freewheeler is one of the best. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They have an awesome selection of high quality bikes for all budgets. Top notch mechanics and high quality parts. They are active part of the cycling community and in their city. I always enjoy stopping in even if just to see what's new.

Ive brought my sons bike in twice, and each time all of the staff has been so helpful. Got my sons bike right in for a quick repair. My brother told me about this place. He said its the only bike shop he will go to. And he lives in Allendale! So that says alot about this place and the staff. Everyone is so friendly, and kind. We will def keep coming here.

I came in for a flat tire repair and they not only fixed that, but they got rid of the squeaking in my other wheel, tightened my brakes, and oiled the chain and it has ridden SIGNIFICANTLY more smoothly for free. I did not ask for the other things but they did that all free of charge. Additionally, they told me they were backed up and it will take 5 days, and I got a call back the next day saying they were done. Extremely timely and hard working folks there. 11/10 excellent service in fixing up my electric bike. Would highly recommend. They truly care about their craft and their customers and have been telling anyone to go here. Honest pricing for honest work. Could not be happier with the service I received

This place has been around for years and I see why. A big supply of bikes, bike parts, good staff, and they try to take care of everyone as best as they can. A community staple and now annual bike rides with snacks and fun.

I'm still petty new to the "biking" world and needed a checkover on my new-to-me bike I got last summer. The guys at Freewheeler we're friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me an spot-on estimate of when my bike would be done by. When I went to pick it up, I had to pick up some essentials (emergency tire pump & bike lock). The guys hooked me up with a deal on my bike lock, put my new pump on the bike (in a safe and convenient spot), gave me a bike trail mag & Freewheeler water bottle. They also shortened my kickstand for me (apparently it was way too long). So if you're looking for friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable check out Freewheeler.

We had a great experience. My son was wanting to window shop for bicycle gadgets for his BMX bike. This is his favorite store to go to. All of the staff was super friendly and eager to help or answer questions. We'll definitely be back.

I live in San Francisco, but was searching for a local bike shop in Grand Rapids to purchase a gift card for my brother, Dan, who lives there. The shop employees were extremely helpful and friendly during our communication via phone, and helped me to find the right price point for 2 bikes. Awesome customer service, Patrick walked us through with several options on bikes that were available without rushing me to make purchases. He explained features on the bike, adjusted seat height for best ride. He was knowledgeable. Bike was checked so everything is tightened up properly before bringing it home. I highly recommend this bike shop. Has bikes from beginners to high end professional selections. Love the warranty that comes with it too. Thanks

Fit me in the day I called for a quick go over of my bike before a camping trip. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Will be going there for all bike repairs, tune-ups, etc. from now on. Excellent service!

Can't say I would recommend them. I brought my bike in to replace a popped tire and get a full tune up. When I got it back a week later, the wheel popped 1.9 miles into my first ride. I brought it back and asked them to find the root cause (I was having chronic issues with the wheel popping)- when I came to pick it up they handed it off without giving me the time of day, and wouldn't you know- the tire popped yet again.

My boyfriend and I recently bought bikes here and would absolutely recommend this bike shop! Everyone who worked there was pleasant to work with, especially Pat and Eamon. They were very helpful and efficient with our time!

Just moved back into town and needed a brake cable replaced and a tuneup. These guys did a great job on the bike. It's a convenient location, they know what they're doing and have a great selection of parts and bikes. Prices are fair, more so than I assumed.

An Outstanding group of people work here. I shopped bikes in the area for a while, then came back here and made the easy decision to buy a bike. Their customer service is the best. I will recommend 11 times out of 10.

They were super helpful and quick. i needed a tube for my bike. I contacted 3 shops and one of them felt the need to lecture me about whether the repair to my bike was necessary/ essential rather than offering a solution to help me. I will always be checking Freewheeler first and giving them as much of my business as possible. They're always helpful and i highly recommend checking them out.

Being new to the neighborhood, we were a bit worried about finding a very good cycle place. On a lark we spotted Freewheeler and have not been disappointed one iota. They've worked on both our bikes these last months and have done a superb job in each case. The entire operation from front of store to the back room tech are staffed not only with great pros, but they're also personable and decent-minded. Thank you to Patrick, David and everyone else. So I just rode off with my brand new bike. My first time there, the staff was incredibly helpful. I found a beautiful Raleigh city cruiser, the model was older so they gave me an amazing discount and a free water bottle. I'm not an avid biker but that didn't mean they didn't spend as much time helping me as they did with regulars (which they have plenty of, and I can see why). Great place for all your bike needs!

While on a bike ride with my grandsons one of their chains fell off so we loaded up the bikes and went to Freewheeler. They were very helpful; came out and looked at the bike and fixed the chain. Also adjusted so the chain wouldn't fall off and didn't charge me a penny. We use this bike shop all the time and they are great!

These folks know and love bikes and it shows. They take care of their customers. I'll never take my bike anywhere else and if I ever decide to buy a new bike this is the only place I'll consider.

After being treated really poorly at Village Bike Shop on Plainfield by one of the floor saleswomen, I took some advice to check out Freewheeler on West Leonard. They were fantastic. Expect a little bit of a wait, because they are busy all the time-- but after my experience there, I understand why everyone in town is willing to wait for their service. I was attempting a low budget single-speed conversion to an old Schwinn World Tour. Kurt and Seth helped me piece together what I'd need and even kept me within the budget I had. It was an outstanding experience. I will always give them my business from here on out. I am so grateful that they were willing to be patient and work with me on the project. I finished my bike last night thanks to them-- and it rocks. :)

We are so glad to find this shop. Right away they were welcoming and friendly. They were knowledgeable and gave some good suggestions. They gave a reasonable turnaround time for our bike repair.

I can't say a damn thing about actually purchasing a bike from these guys, but everyone else seems to think they're awesome. I'll give them that because, their service here for everything else is exceptionally awesome too. A long, long time ago (I can still remember how that music used to make me smile...) I came in here for a little tune up and was treated to fast service that was fairly priced. Both times I was in there to pick up and drop off my bike it was a little busy, so I didn't get the great super friendly service other people talk about... but it was nice and I didn't feel rushed or like I was a burden on any of the workers. They were as friendly as you could ask for and made me feel welcome. Just earlier today, after having a HUGE wipeout on my bike (shortly after having it tuned up here before, I might add), I decided to stop in and get the bike checked over once again to make sure it was still working properly and didn't need any repairs. I figured since I actually kinda broke my back, maybe there was something that happened to the bike too that I missed. I got there at 4:23pm on a Saturday. They were closed. Oh well, I was disappointed but it was my own fault for not checking the hours. Nothing I can fault them for. As I was walking away a guy came out from the back alley and told me that they had closed up shop but, depending on what I needed, they could take my bike in and their hours can be damned. Corey walked me around to the front of the shop, unlocked it, took me and my bike in, and made a tag up so I could come pick my bike up later when it was finished. I don't think you'll find customer service like this damn near anywhere else in any industry. From my previous experience and this experience combined, when in Grand Rapids, the Freewheeler Bike Shop is definitely the place the be. I can safely say that I'll be buying all my future accessories here, as well as always taking my bike here to get it tuned up, repaired, or whatever. Future bike purchases (if I'm still in Grand Rapids)? Yup... you guessed it. Small stuff like that will make customers for life, and they know how to do it.

They sold me a brand new bike for under Msrp, so you gotta love that. In general they have a lot of bikes for reasonable prices while they are running a sale. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.

This shop is great - they had a large selection of bikes, and the service is awesome. I went in a few weeks ago to buy my first bike (as an adult) and the guy who helped me found one that fit my needs and was in my price range. I even went to two or three more shops after that to make sure I was getting the most bang for my buck. Sure enough, Freewheeler not only had the best bike for me but the service was as good as it gets. The fact that the guys who work there know bikes and love what they do really shows. I like that.

Hands down friendliest and most helpful bike shop in GR. These guys are the best. I come here for all my cycling needs and never leave disappointed.

This place is so cool. They have used bikes, brand new bikes, every single model you can think of. Accessories, advice, special orders and repairs. These guys do it all and they have fun with it too

I took my bike in there on a Tuesday and asked them to fix it, it needed a few minor things, called on Friday that week, they were debating on calling me and asking me if I wanted a used bike around the same price as it would cost me to have it fixed. Uuhh Hello!! I told you I wanted it fixed 3 days ago when I brought it to your shop!! So I called on Saturday and it wasn't done, Monday I called and they said it would be done but the traffic was too heavy to get there before they closed so so we agreed on Tuesday. So finally Tuesday around 11:30 am they called and said it was done. They replaced a tube that they said was flat, $50 there! So instead of calling me and asking me they just put a new one in. I just put new tubes in it the night before I took it down there, and instead of patching it they just replaced it. For $50 it better last forever!! For a company that has been around since 1978 you sure don't conduct business like that.

Wonderfully helpful staff helped both me and my daughter find bikes we love. After I had a terrible crash on mine, ending up in a hospital bed for ten weeks, they fixed the bent tire and everything else wrong with it for free.

The best bike shop in Grand Rapids, period. I've purchased a hard tail mountain from Freewheeler on a great sale and have gotten a little wrenching and a few wheels built here (the only LBS I'll go to in GRR to get wheels built) as well. Scour the backyard for random parts for dirt cheap. Friendly staff that is as accommodating to the neighborhood BMX kids as affluent roadies. I can't say enough great things about Freewheer; I wish I could give them six stars.

Went into this shop while on beercation, they had a rack for my fatbike in stock, ready to go. I was asked by several staffers if I needed any help, they offered to let me take the rack outside to try it on my bike. Friendly, helpful staff and a well stocked shop, I had a great experience. They even pointed us to our next location on our brewery tour. Thanks !

First time in today, and it was pretty much right before they closed. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I was just in to repair a disconnected front brake. Told them I was in no hurry, but they were very fast. They also did a hell of a lot more than that without me trying for extras at all; aired the tires, oiled the gears, went over a few products with me that I had questions on. I was interested in a really particular style of bottle holder that probably doesn't actually exist, but they went over everything they had with me and we found 2 styles I could modify to use that way and they had really helpful suggestions for how to make the one I chose work. Was fun and informative talking with them as well. Fun fact: The employee I was with the longest shared with me that he hasn't driven a car to work in three years! Really cool that they were just easy to talk to, had great solutions for really specific needs, went way above and beyond to make sure my bike was as road ready as could be, very fast service, and you can just tell they really know and love the product that they sell. Will definitely be back soon!

This place is the best bike store for miles around he'll accommodate you in any way he can the place is jam-packed you'll probably have to look around for somebody to help you I buy all my bikes there I did some special things to the last one change seats put special bags on fenders anything you want if he doesn't carry it He can order it Gordy is great i love him dearly I believe he races bikes and his kids race bikes I had a bike on layaway a long time ago at Village bike shop and I was playing on it regularly I told them I would be in to pay it off at a certain date and when I went in to pick it up they had sold it I had to sue them to get my money back and I immediately went over to see Gordy and he had the same bike that I wanted

Great group of guys running the shop. The is still a home town shop which many others in town have gotten away from. The quality of their work is second to none and the selection of bikes/brands is the biggest in town.

This is, in my opinion, the best bike shop in western Michigan. Their staff are friendly and helpful. They have loads of experience and they have a great selection of bikes and accessories. Their service is efficient and timely. I (and family members) have purchased many bikes here over the past few years and they have d served well. They have stood behind their various products when there has been anything wrong or needing adjustments. They are the BEST!

Every time I bring a bike in here to get fixed they do it cheap and within a couple of days. I don't know anything about the store part of it.

Staff know there stuff, are helpful, and don't try to sell you more bike than you need. The prices are great and they carry all quality brands. Bikes are repaired quickly and correctly. Great shop.

Freewheeler Bike Shop has a very nice selection of bikes. They also carry everything you will need for your new bike! I've found the service and prices to be excellent too. Finally, they do great repair work.

Awesome shop. You won't find a bike shop in west Michigan with a better selection of parts - especially older bikes. Nice staff. Can be a bit crowded, but that goes to show what a good business they have.

I received good fast service here at a fair price, but the man I dealt with reminded me of the "Soup Nazi" character in Seinfeld. A VERY unpleasant guy...I thought maybe I caught him on a bad day during my 1st visit but he was even WORSE the second time!
