Freibad Marzili

Fantastic facilities, great for sunbathing and swimming and right next to the Aare. Now with the benefit of the ‘lazy river’ entrance so you can float down the river and straight in. And the most unbelievable bit is it’s all free!!

The river trip from Thun to Bern was a beautiful and relaxing experience. The scenery along the Aare River is stunning, with peaceful landscapes, charming villages, and nature all around. Floating downstream gave us a unique perspective of the region, and the journey was both refreshing and memorable. A perfect way to enjoy Switzerland’s beauty from the water.

The Marzili outdoor pool in Bern is a real gem for anyone looking to cool off in the summer 🌞. Its location right on the Aare, with a view of the Federal Palace, makes this outdoor pool unique. Entry is free, making the Marzili a popular meeting place for young and old. The spacious lawns offer enough space to relax or enjoy a picnic 🧺🍫🍪. For the more active, there are swimming pools, but the highlight is definitely swimming in the Aare 🚣‍♂️ - a real adventure! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, there are food stalls with snacks 🍟and drinks 🍹 , and the sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained. The only downside: on hot days it can get quite crowded, but that's part of it. Overall, the Marzili is a perfect place to enjoy summer days in Bern 🌅.

Nice place to swim and chill. The combination with the river Aare is perfect. During summer you can swim in the Aare and then use the canal to enter the natural swimming area. Otherwise you can always enjoy the different swimming pools and green areas to chill. A restaurant as well As lockers, changing rooms and toilets are available. The entrance is free !!

How could you complain about this place. Relaxing, safe and free, what's not to love. The people of Bern are so lucky, jealous. They have everything all on hand. Bars, restrauants are all in the area or just walk up the path for more options. I really wanted to do the river swim, but I couldn't believe it. I was able to join the fun of the river. Started at the 1st steps near the exit point under small bridge, then worked my way up to the pathway. Do respect the lifeguards and water and leave the alcohol or drugs alone if you plan to do this amazing experience.. If river. There is other pools if river swimming is not your thing. Plenty on offer for all ages. Loved the place

Good place at the heart of the city for swimming, relaxing or just for small pause.

A fun and beautifully organised swimming space. We were speeding down the crazy river and laughing soo hard. Wr ate some chips and fruit and hung around on the grass. Great times! Would recommend 😊

Best place to park your stuff on the grass, walk along the banks of the Aare upriver, and close to the Zoo there is a bridge with a large spot to enter the river. Use a floatie, a boat, anything and get in that icy glacial water and float until you hit the Marzili again. Make sure you are a relatively good swimmer, because the current is fast!
