French Society - Review - West Hampstead - London - The Infatuation

What a fantastic experience! From the warm, intimate atmosphere, to the wonderfully friendly and invested service staff (shout out to Zoë and Anish, thank you for being so personable and welcoming from the moment we stepped in the door!!) to the absolutely perfect meal, this was an experience that left us both dying to come back for more. The atmosphere is wonderful - rustic, comforting vibes - and is coupled with servers who seemed to genuinely bond with both ourselves and the tables around us, both in English and French! The food - I cannot speak highly enough about it! Comforting French soup, beautiful confit duck and steak cooked to absolute perfection! Every bite felt every bit of the decadence that you expect from good French cuisine. Equally intriguing is the ever-changing menu - we will be back to try the new dishes and to indulge again in the ever-presents! Price is including a bottle of delicious wine, fantastic value for money! A rare 10/10 experience - merci bien à tous! A bientôt et bon courage à l’avenir !

Fantastic dinner we had in this local gem! The duck confit was rich and tender, the steak perfectly cooked, and the crispy fries delicious. Great wine, friendly service, and a cozy, classic atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

I went there for dinner on 2025-07-15 with friends, food was great 😋, I really enjoyed their fried layered potatoes! Also I was pretty impressed that the food arrived pretty quickly despite there was only one chef in the kitchen (you can see through a glass window). The tables are kind of close to each other but the general vibe was nice and cozy. I didn’t give them 5 ⭐️ because I thought some of the wine and water glasses could be cleaner but everything else was lovely. I’ll want to go there again for sure - slightly expensive though so probably going to be for an occasion.

Very welcoming with lovely waiting staff. I’m celiac/gluten free and they carefully checked the dishes with the chef and were knowledgeable about cross contamination risks. They have a separate gluten free fryer so I was able to have the potatoes pavé which were amazing, better than any frites! The sea bream was a good size and was perfectly cooked. It came with a really nice saffron butter. We both had the crème brûlée to finish which had a thin crisp top and a perfectly set and wobbly interior. Would highly recommend!

Wow wow wow everything about this was 10/10. We had the fries, duck, steak and green beans and it was all delectable. Make sure to save room for desert, best creme brulee I've ever had and I have had a lot of creme brulees. By far the best restaurant in West Hampstead now. Reasonable prices also.

Fantastic food and attentive (but not overbearing) service. Great wine list. Alot of thought and hard work has clearly gone into this place, the tempo and ambience is fantastic, and is backed up by great food. West Hampstead has been crying out for a ‘local’ spot like this for a long time, and I will certainly be back.

The seafood soup and duck confit were delicious. I would like to return just to eat these two dishes. There aren't many good restaurants in this area, so I'm happy to have found a good one.

Food was really lovely, it is a small menu but what they do, they do well. The pomme de terre were so so good and would definitely recommend. The fish was well cooked and not dry at all. Could have skipped the grilled salad thing, it was fine but nothing special.
